Your hardware ID subsys is not supported in driver version 1.3.64.76.

Quick googling revealed that at least this driver supports your hardware ID.

    03/13/2008, 1.3.64.41

    ;******** AVerMedia A317_II ***
    %AVer.DeviceDesc03% = AVer_A317_II.NTamd64 , PCI\VEN_1131&DEV_7160&SUBSYS_10551461 ; A317 (II)

Hope this helps. Happy hunting... :)

A tech support guy from Aver was nice, and even though they don't support OEM products, he sent me 1.3.64.80 but it still didn't work. I guess I'll try again in the appropriate thread. I have found a couple easy ways to downgrade windows without formatting. Considering it but still can't believe there's no driver. I will also search for the 1.3.64.41 driver because it can't hurt to try.

and thus we see the major problem with using other OEM (Acer, Asus, Dell, etc) drivers on HP hardware.

Often, the .inf files that define hardware are different on the 'other' driver releases. It's a potential nightmare (and quite possibly a violation of multiple EULAs) to merge a set of differing .inf files to 'force' a non-HP driver release to work properly on HP hardware.

Sometimes it's not just the .inf files that are customized. The .cat and .sys files are frequently customized for specific hardware. Even if the file names, rev levels, and date/time stamps are the same, the internals of the files are built for just about anything other than HP hardware.

In my mind, the only driver packages that should be listed here are first of all from HP, then from the component makers (Atheros, Intel, Microsoft, Broadcom, Realtek, etc).

Grabbing convenient driver packages from Dell, Acer, etc, etc, while interesting and possibly useful as pointers towards the correct/newer releases, are more trouble than the incremental .Dot release versions they represent. If it takes surgery to force a driver package to load on a machine, chances are there are other problems with it that make it useless to the average user.

It's not about who can find the greatest number of drivers. It's about posting correct, reliable, and easy to use driver releases.

even from back in the day with windows NT, things were like that ... special driver signing or requirements. it's supposed to enhance the stability of the platform, but with a little house cleaning i can keep a home premium installation just as stable.

fyi, i recommend you try clonezilla to mirror your drive to an external or second HDD as a backup. my windows install is 35 GB and it compresses to 15 GB when backed up. takes 10 mins. restore is the reverse and takes the same time.

you only need to do it once you've found your optimum install. a little piece of mind that can save you hours installing everything manually later on ...

just wondering ... you show the mediasmart dvd for win 7 as updated but the hp support drivers list shows the latest is still the version from 4/28 (4.0.3822) ... are they not listing the latest drivers on their main support site ?

Hi.Thank you a thousand times for your great efforts. My problem is:

I want to encode my personal files using my fingerprint reader. My notebook model is HP-dv6 3046st.My HP SimplePass Identity Protection version is 5.00.140a.

    I have 2 options:

1.I can install r-a-p-i-d-s-h-a-r-e.com but, according to what I've read after this installation the fingerprint light doesn'nt work at all.Are there any updated versions of that?

2.I can install Validity Fingerprint sensor from ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp47001-47500/sp47401.exe then install HP SimplePass Identity Protection Software from ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp47501-48000/sp47904.exe
according to what I've read after that installation the fingerprint light turns on when its necessary. However these versions aren't compatible with mine.

    What should I do ?

You can first try and update DigitalPersona to the most currently compatible version available and see what you can do from there. It's available on the first post and immediately below for reference. :)

    DigitalPersona Personal Version: 5.1.0.175
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp50001-50500/sp50048.exe

Will the D.Persona.Add-On.v4.0.x64 file, for the encoding feature, work with DigitalPersona Personal Version: 5.1.0.175 ?
I couldn't find any updated version of this Add-On (4.0) that allows me encode files using my fingerprint reader.
I'm afraid to give it a try

that's pretty cool ... a ton of updates and files available for download. but tedious work looking thru for the ones you'd need. for example, when a new ATI driver comes out, is it the same driver number as the old (sp49450.exe) ?

No, when a new driver update is released, it has a new Softpaq number.

Uninstall the older Bluetooth drivers first. I had the same problem with updating to the new version, until I removed the older version.

Has anyone noticed if the ATI switchable graphics driver ever updates the intel driver? or is it always the same version from march? I'm using the ati gpu 100% of the time, but it would be nice if they updated the intel one in case I ever wanted to use it

have tried to remove the driver and install the driver with the original from the HP driver and support. Did'nt help, even tried to remove it again and then use 10.8 from ati's support site, did'nt help either. so i feel pretty screwed over, can't use my laptop for games etc. Thanks to this.. guess i'll have to re-install win7 :S

got it running again after a restore. does anyone else experienced the same problem.. it is a envy 17, icore 5, ati 5850 running win7 home premium 64-bit vers.

    ...

"Make sure you have the Intel Matrix Storage Manager installed before you install this."

    What's about "Intel Rapid Storage"?

Must IMSM or IRST really be installed?

I installed HP 3D DriveGuard successfully without having installed IMSM/IRST.
According to the RELEASE.doc file of HP 3D DriveGuard(sp48408), IMSM/IRST is only needed when operating in RAID mode.

"HP 3D DriveGuard Intel RAID volume support requires Intel RAID Controller driver version 8.0.2 which provides a private interface for HP 3D DriveGuard filter driver. Only Intel RAID controllers are support at this time."

While this may be true, I still recommend that you install the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver (after the Chipset Device Software). The RST enables specific Intel AHCI features for your SATA controller, even if only one HDD is attached.

Read Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) — Product overview for more information.

Hmmm, that's interesting - I can't tell whether my sensor is actually working or not because I don't have the software currently installed (the driver is installed correctly though).

On another note, HP has taken down the current IDT HD Audio drivers for reasons unknown. I removed the now dead links on the first post.

It was expected since their part number was posted in their maintenance guide back in August.

Yes, I've known this for a long time too but did not announce it - the AMD Radeon HD 6370M and 6550M is indeed coming in the next minor refresh, and they will be supported here! :) I will be posting this up shortly and will add support for this incoming refresh as more drivers get released.

If you look at the CVA, this driver was supposed to be released on December 3rd - looks like they're a month early. :)

Could someone tell me what I should install to get the onscreen display for volume on my dv6tse? I'd use 3rvx, but I've had problems with it ceasing to work erratically.
