This thread isn't for you. Actually, the official AMD driver MIGHT work, since you have an ATI IGP. If it doesn't you'll have to go to HP's support site.

    Hey Falcon
I tried rolling back drivers, and the audio glitching still occurs, after searching it up it seems this is a inevitable problem thats hitting all types of models across HP's brands, and the problem seems to be the IDT Audio Codec.. certain versions fix the problem but they're incompatible with my laptop which sucks. There's a ongoing big thread found here: Re: IDT HD Codec Audio Glitching issue - Page 6 - HP Support Forum

Maybe one of you guys have an answer..

Hmm, the info that is troubling me, you are still relying on Windows to search for the drivers and letting it use a history of it. Not really helping tracing the problem, more like making it more difficult.

You have to do a full removal of all instances of IDT, a normal add/remove and restart. Download and install the driver 6.10.6292.0 from this thread, using the installer. Do not use the device manager to handle the driver update.

Updating on Christmas Day! Hope everyone is having a great day. :D

Thanks Z3tor and bluedayz for the following -- they are now on the first post:

    12/25/2010
    • Updated Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller driver to version 2.0.30.0.
    • Updated Intel Chipset Device Software to version 9.2.0.1016.
    • Updated Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader driver to version 6.1.7600.30126.
    • Updated Realtek PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Family Controller driver to version 6.244 for Windows Vista and version 7.034 for Windows 7.

Updated Renesas USB 3.0 driver and Intel Chipset Device Software packages are provided by GIGABYTE Technology this time around. The Intel Chipset Device Software adds further support to the upcoming Intel 6-series chipsets and 2011 Core processors, but it continues to support older generation chipsets as well. :) Please see the Important Information section regarding recommendations on how you should install this version, since it is packaged rather differently.

Due to installation issues that some people (including me) were experiencing, I removed the recent Intel chipset and RST updates as a precaution.

Also, I did something to the first post of this thread. See for yourself! :)

    12/31/2010
    • Removed Intel Chipset Device Software version 9.2.0.1016.
    • Removed Intel Rapid Storage Technology version 10.1.0.1008.

    01/02/2011
    • (Take a look at the first post!) :D

Hello I upgraded to latest version of Intel chipset, but i had huge problems with Intel Rapid Storage Technology, the program stopped working altogether and gave me errors saying one of the processess didnd't install during installation..

So i reverted back to the version before and now it works i think you shoud put a note so others dont have to have a messed up laptop as I didn't notice until i tried to launch the Rapid Storage Technology software

New Intel updates (re-)posted. There are some important things that users should know about these updates, which are mentioned below.

    01/05/2011
    • Updated Intel Chipset Device Software to version 9.2.0.1021 (thanks Spyrus).
    • Updated Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver to version 10.1.0.1008.
    01/06/2011
    • Renamed "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator / Intel HD Graphics" to "Intel HD Graphics."

This is a recognized issue, and I has mentioned the possibility of problems in the Important Information sections for both components.

The Intel Chipset Device Software packages that have been recently released seem to be overwriting the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver should it be installed. I strongly advise that once Chipset Device Software finishes installing, that Intel Rapid Storage Technology be reinstalled.

However, recent versions of the Intel Rapid Storage Technology are also failing to reinstall using the interactive setup wizard, presumably due to the Intel Chipset Device Software update. If this problem is happening to you, try using the INF Install method: the ZIPs include the INF files necessary to manually update the Intel SATA/AHCI component through the Device Manager's Update Driver wizard. I have successfully updated mine using this procedure.

    • Updated Intel HD Graphics driver to version 8.15.10.2266 (15.21.2[.64].2266) / 6.14.0.3074 (Audio) (thanks Z3tor).

I also added a sentence to the Important Information section regarding the INF installation of Intel RST through Device Manager. Once the driver is installed, run the Interactive Setup wizard again to get the software to work correctly.

    • Updated product support information pertaining to the dv7-429x notebook models.

It has been observed that the Pavilion dv7-4290us notebook comes with the 2011 Intel Sandy Bridge platform. Because of this, some of the drivers listed in this thread are not compatible. Users who own a dv7-4290us notebook should use the dv7 Gen 5 thread, which is coming soon. :)

You need to include the Quad Editions of the dv6t and dv7t in that info as well.

Also, it's still gen 4 for the dv7 and gen 3 for the dv6; just updated with the new CPUs. I recommend that you don't call them a new gen because it'll be confusing once the actual next gens are released (which will probably be in spring, and will likely be a redesign to use CoolSense or whatever they call it).

From what I'm seeing, the 2011 Quad Editions of the dv6 and dv7 are Gen 4 and Gen 5 respectively (heck, my dv6 Gen 2 was also called Quad Edition ). They will be using the same chassis design as the dv6 Gen 3 and dv7 Gen 4.

Looking at the HP support listings, there are some dv6 "Gen 6" (no sign of a dv6 Gen 5) and dv7 "Gen 6" SKUs coming soon too. :)

I know it's going to get confusing, which is what I'm afraid of. Perhaps I should call the new ones like the 2011 models, or something along those lines. The naming is also the reason why I am not releasing a driver thread yet.

Just wanted to say thank you very much to the OP

I just got an HP Envy 17-1181NR and have been going insane trying to figure out why my sub woofer wasn't showing up in Beats Audio!

After installing your driver, I now have massive amounts of bass and am extremely impressed with the Beats Audio

I installed an Intel X25 120GB SSD and I love this computer now, it's lightning fast! I have a 7.1 windows score and 7.7/7.9 for my SSD!

    According to HP:

It is optional software - you don't need to install it if your system is working fine. You can grab the latest version over at http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...-popular-hp-notebook-software-collection.html.

Thanks, I need some more help from you, I have dv6t SE, with i7 720QM & HD5650 (NO INTEL HD Graphics), should I install the drivers from AMD or HP website? Whats your recommendation?

Further, what should be the install order of drivers & utilities if someone has performed a "clean" install?

Use the the drivers from AMD website.

Well the first thing to install is the chipset, then RST.
But the AMD graphic driver has to be at least earliest as possible.
Biometric reader driver before the HP Simple Pass.

Hi, does anyone know what's the difference between "Physical Sector Size"
and "Logical Sector Size"? as shown in Intel Rapid Storage Tech.
In my IRST it is showing both of these as "512 Bytes" whereas my C drive's cluster/allocation unit size is "4096 Bytes"!

This is confusing me as to what allocation unit size is appropriate for partitions, if the Physical/Logical Sector size is 512 B??
What is the relation between all these three.......

    Hey,

I have a DV6-3132TX which supposedly has switchable graphics. I have performed a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and installed all the latest drivers from the HP site, however I do not get the switchable graphics option.

In device manager it only detects the ATI Mobility 5650 and no Intel HD accelerator. I have also tried all three older versions of the drivers on the first post and have reinstalled windows twice now.

Any help would be appreciated as battery life with 5650 always on is only about 2 hrs.

    Cheers,
    D

I just upgraded the ATI 5650 drivers to the current one on HP's site - sp50640 (v8.771.1.0). Doing this decreased my graphics desktop performance for Windows Aero score to 3.2. It was at 5.9 under the previous ATI driver - sp49450 (v8.741.1.1). What gives???

Can we install Normal mobility radeon drivers?

would there be any issue? I don't mind not using Intel HD.

    thanks.

It'd have been nice to know that the Synaptics touchpad update disables several features of my notebook's touchpad.

I know that it is not fresh news, but they were not listed in table so that is why I posted about it.

I have a dv6t-3100 with switchable ATI Radeon 5650 Graphics/Intel HD Graphics. I got an error to either update ATI/enable in device manager(paraphrasing). I need to update and thanks to this thread, I finally can, but I have one question first. It says to uninstall the ATI driver first, then update. Does that mean uninstall the driver from the device manager only, not ATI Catalyst or CCC? And since the Intel driver is included i'm assuming I would not need to uninstall that driver prior to the update as that could cause some major issues...Thanks in advance...

You need to uninstall all parts that deals with graphics, it's a precaution to avoid strange graphic behaviors that amd drivers tend to do.
