Hello again, i have a question - Does this AMD graphics driver support switchable graphics laptops. My laptop has AMD and Intel (as usual) so will the latest version work for me without losing any functionality? Currently i am using custom drivers to stay updated.
-
You can upgrade to the latest version of the reference driver without losing any functionality if you are using an older reference driver. Do NOT uninstall anything - just apply the updates on top of what you already have. -
I mean Modified drivers which are working good for me. But when i saw an update here i thought its better to have official driver. But then i realized the latest AMD update mentioned here [AMD Catalyst Mobility 12.3 reference drivers - version 8.951 (AMD) / 7.12.0.7706 (HDMI Audio)] is a reference driver. I think that means it was released by AMD and not HP, and if its released by AMD it surely wont have Intel driver packed in it (and so it doesnt support Switchable graphics officially). Am i right? If so is the case then i am better off with the modified drivers i am using coz they are just like the ones released by HP, but with latest versions of everything.

- Updated Synaptics TouchPad / ClickPad driver, version 16.0.1.0.
Release notes (in a text file) are available inside of the Softpaq. -
04/10/2012
- Updated Intel Chipset Device Software, version 9.3.0.1020.
- Updated Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver and software, version 11.1.0.1006.
- Updated Intel WiFi Link driver, version 15.1.0.18 for Windows 7.
You do not have to install this Intel Chipset Device Software package if you have already applied a previously released 9.2.X.XXXX or 9.3.X.XXXX package.
It is important to note that mainstream support for Windows Vista has ended. As a result, I have decided that all future releases posted will mention support for Windows 7 but not for Vista; I will be phasing out support for Vista as I continue to post updates. Driver releases specific to Windows Vista will continue to remain however, for as long as they are current.
I will start adding Windows 8 support to many of the drivers here, especially as we get closer towards the final version. -
i am very unsatisfied with the audio on my old envy 17 3d 1195ea..
been using the latest IDT driver version (6381), and the sound is simply bad. bass, although set to +4 (maximum), almost isnt present, neither using (high-end bass capable headphones), nor the notebooks speakers.
and there is no mono mix checkbox anymore which turned the subwoofer on/off, like in version 6368(?) and before.
when playing some songs with lots of bass, it struggles noticeably, the sound overlaps and the volume suffers from that, resulting in lower volume during heavy bass parts of the songs, and "normal" volume while only vocals are played etc.
playing cs:s often causes the sound to scratch, too (however, didnt notice this in other - newer/more demanding) games.
i tried turning off the power management features inside the beats control panel and all possible sample rate/bit depth combinations.
i will revert back to version 6368 or an earlier one now and hope it will get better again.
any suggestions/ideas how to fix, what settings to use that and why this happens?
and why did they remove the mono mix option and all the advanced settings (bass boost, room correction etc) that were present 1-2 updates ago?
a stock SB 17'' macbook pro has far superior sound (and much higher max volume) when playing from its built-in speakers than the envy with its wannabe top notebook beats sound...i compared them side-by-side

well, its "ok", however its not the way i would it expect to be considering theres a subwoofer in ther. and i also think i can remember it having been much better several months ago while the driver still had the mono mix checkbox avilable.

Hi, I have an HP laptop with switchable graphics (the graphics are Intel HD and ATI 5650, the model of the laptop is DV6 3016sl). I have installed sp50640.exe, that is the latest HP official ATI and Intel HD driver. I'd like to install a more recent one, but also using the catalyst 12.1 that is in the first page of this thread, I cannot manage to install it. In the instructions it is said to install it on top of the official driver. I have the official driver, but when I launch the 12.1 setup (downloaded from the link in the first page, it is 12-1_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl.exe) , it says that everything is up to date, and I cannot put the check to install the newer versions of the driver and the Catalyst... How can I install?
Thanks! -

- Added AMD Radeon HD Graphics, Catalyst Mobility 12.4 reference drivers - version 8.961 (AMD) / 7.12.0.7706 (HDMI Audio).
- Removed Realtek PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Family Controller driver reference for Windows Vista.
- Updated Realtek PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Family Controller driver, version 7.053 for Windows 7.
- Updated HP Quick Launch Software, version 2.7.2 (2.70 A2).
-
I tried the version 12.4, but it installed only some parts and not the Catalyst and the drivers... It installed only:
AMD Catalyst Installation Manager
AMD APP SDK Runtime
Driver audio HDMI
The problem is that after the "relevation" I cannot even see the driver and the Catalyst, so I cannot select Catalyst and the drivers.
I checked and the switchable is on "ATI", so it should see the 5650...
Do you have some ideas? -

I am using these drivers for a long time now, this is the best solution available to get latest drivers for switchable graphics. This guy(s) is doing a great job.
PS: Use 12.3 WHQL UnifL for now 12.4 is buggy... -
Hello first off thanks a TON for all of these great updates!
I am pretty much a computer newbie and am trying to get games to run better on my laptop. I have an HP Dv6 with an i5, Radeon 5650, and 8gbs of ram.
I updated the graphics drivers on this thread, yet I still feel like I am not getting the kind of performance I should. I am trying to play Starcraft 2, which while it can be a graphics intensive game can work on a pretty broad range of PC's, yet I am having to basically run it on all low settings. I am not expecting to run it on ultra, but bare min really?
Am I over-reaching my PC's stats or is there something I can do? any advice appreciated-thanks in advance! -

I have done alot of the general maintence things via tutorials and reading online, edited the start up progs, etc.
Will this driver link you provided really make a noticable difference in performance?
What do you think of my computers stats compared to what I am trying do? -
I installed and tried Starcraft 2 many months maybe a year back if i remember correctly on my laptop (i3, ati hd 5650 switchable, 4gb ram), it worked, and it was playable. Now ur laptop is definitely better than mine, and the latest graphics driver version is 12.4 (i tried on 10.x), so its obvious that the game should work fine.
The link i provided is of the drivers SPECIFICALLY repacked to work PERFECTLY (like original) on SWITCHABLE graphics. The laptop makers dont provide regular graphic driver updates, thats why we have to use that site for latest drivers, so if u have SWITCHABLE graphics then the link i gave is ur best bet. Just read the manual/faq thoroughly on that site before installing (its very easy though).
Also one of the main culprits for performance degradation on laptops is heat, everythings comes to crawling speed if ur laptop is overheated, and playing games heats up laptops in no time. So check ur temps (use SPECCY) while playing and see if thats the problem, there are solutions for it too (google) like cleaning vents, putting laptop on hardtop surfaces, using a cooling fan, reducing room temp etc. -
Awesome, thanks again!

@justinkw1: Just a note of thanks for your taking on the responsibility for keeping this HP drivers thread updated.
I had been having problems with my HP ENVY 14's AMD HD 5650 drivers and CCC software - it couldn't install the updates.
After reading this discussion thread and following links to guru3D, I ended up figuring out how to install an updated display driver using just the .msi embedded in the CCC Installer package, and I used the brilliant ATI Tray Tools instead of CCC. (The latter couldn't install.)
To help others, I posted about it all on DonationCoder's discussion forum here: Problems with AMD/ATI Radeon HD 6500M/5600/5700 Series GPU driver/software
The post links back to your thread here.

Qualcomm Atheros Wireless LAN driver, version 10.0.0.48.
Its installation is not even starting in my laptop (dv6 3051tx, Win7 x64).
I tried every possible way to start the installation, but nothing comes up after Installshield's extraction step.
My card's details:
Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&SUBSYS_3040103C&REV_01
Previous version 9.2.0.496 installing and working perfectly.
Is this new version (10.0.0.48) only for "HP EliteBook 2170p Notebook PC" (as mentioned in the release notes)? -
Code:%ATHR.DeviceDesc.H30A1% = ATHR_DEV_H30A1.ndi, PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&SUBSYS_3040103C
Just extract the file, open Device Manager, locate your AR9285 and right click on it and choose Update Driver Software...
When prompted choose Browse my computer for driver software and browse to the folder where you extracted the downloaded EXE. Inside that should be more folders, open the folder Win7 then ndis6xWin7, that contains the inf file it will use to update. Opening that file you can see your Hardware ID is listed, so it should install, and it will also bypass any other checks the Setup may be running. -
That might work, but i dont want to do it that way, i want it to be installed in official way (the way it was meant to be installed), otherwise whats the sense of using official drivers?
-
Hi guys, hope someone can help.
I have a HP dv6 3060sa and have all the latest drivers installed from the HP site for my laptop, however the graphics driver haven't been updated since 2010 and I feel there should have been an update since then as my laptop feels as though it's under performing.
Also in the last couple of months I've noticed my laptop becoming very hot and the fans spin at a ridiculous speed and very loud. I keep all software to a minimum and don't install any bloatware etc as I'm very picky and OCD about how tidy my laptop is so don't think it's software related unless it's a Windows 7 update.
Any suggestions? -
Get it from here - LESHCATLABS.NET
I suggest install 12.3 UP2 from that website, 12.6 is also available, but it is not as stable as 12.3 UP2.
Read the FAQ and guide there before installing, properly.
Use manual cleaning method (given in the guide) to clean ur previous drivers instead of YUC (A cleaner inbulit in the all drivers provided on that website). -

Thanks for all your hard work by updating these drivers. I want to install Windows 8 on my HP DV6 3180sd, but I have no clue how to install the graphic drivers to let them work correctly with switchable graphics. It has a i5 460M with Intel HD graphics and a AMD 5470M. In Windows 7 I installed the HP drivers and put the newest Catalyst over them, which worked fine. Is this also possible with Windows 8, and if not what is the correct way to install it?
Thanks.
