AMD Catalyst 12.11 (9.010.0 November 6) Enduro Performance Driver - Guru3D.com Forums
Can anyone test these? If not I'll test them when I'm with my laptop next.
Thanks
-
- Stability - No issues
- Brightness setting - No issue
- My hydravision turned off - no biggie.. Turned it back on after installation.
- Hybrid graphics mode (aka "Dynamic graphics") in our Insyde H2O HP BIOSes, amazing performance bump
- It's now comparable with switchable graphics ("fixed) performance.
- Haven't really noticed performance improvements on Switchable.
-
-
1. You tested them on Windows 7 or 8?
2. You did a clean install or install over the HP drivers?
Also, is AMD releasing now, a separate beta, beside Catalyst, for Enduro now??
From my understanding Enduro finally supports Sandy Bridge processors!
thanks for your feedback. -
Good question. Windows 7.
I don't think that's a beta. The AMD article for this doesn't say it's a beta. This driver is also a WHQL. I think it's an interim WHQL intended for 7970M users, especially Alienware M17-18X users because their BIOS did not have an option to disable hybrid graphics (enduro) and the fact that AMD hybrid graphics had long standing underutilisation issues throughout the 7000M series.
Idk if it finally supports Sandybridge because Enduro is just the name for newer versions of hybrid graphics which existed for a few years already. I believe before this update, those notebooks were already running this "so called" enduro which is in fact Hybrid graphics mode.
On the installation, uninstalled Catalyst 12.10 WHQL and installed this.
My Intel HD 3000 is using the factory HP driver. It is mandatory to use factory drivers for Intel HD + dGP systems because ONLY factory drivers have support for switchable graphics. Using Intel website's Intel HD driver will cause the AMD GPU to become unusable actually.
My method of installing reference drivers
- Go to your Control Panel->Uninstall a program
- Uninstall AMD Catalyst Install Manager, select the uninstall option->Custom to selectively choose which features to remove.
- (Leave the Integrated graphic Intel HD drivers alone)
- Run the Catalyst software installer, select Install -> Custom -> Make sure you have a checkbox with a black frame around the component, "AMD Display Driver". If this is not present, hit cancel and repeat this step and make sure "AMD Display Driver" shows up. This is to ensure the installation file has detected your graphics hardware.
- If after multiple attempts there's no AMD Display Driver option, your hardware ID is probably not in the whitelist. Try another installation file.
- If step 3 succeeds, make sure all components are selected and hit next to finish the installation.
- (Only if it fails) Uninstall Catalyst.
For subsequent updates after the initial steps to break away from factory drivers for the AMD GPU, you can simply install the reference driver over the existing version. i.e. Catalyst 12.10 -> Catalyst 12.11 Enduro Fix
This is what I always have done and it always worked for me.
As a start before doing this if you haven't done so you probably should uninstall everything and start with the SP5XXXX factory driver before performing these steps to stick a hybrid supported factory driver to your Intel HD.
I'm talking in a Windows 7 perspective. I have not used Windows 8 and I'm unaware if this causes any compatibility issues. -
AMD CATALYST
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/other/AMD_Catalyst_Enduro_9.01.exe
Btw, Catalyst 12.11 Enduro currently doesn't have 5000M series GPUs in its whitelist. I hope the intent isn't to drop support for 5000M series... -
Hi, I have a dv6t-6b00 with a Radeon 6770M. After upgrading to Windows 8 from 7, I spent all day looking for drivers for my graphics card. I completely removed my old Radeon drivers through the device manager and the Treexy Driver Fusion application, and then tried downloading the drivers you posted here but when I try to start the setup.exe, it asks me for administrator permission and then nothing happens. This was with the sp58788 update. This is pretty much what happens for every other driver I try, official and unofficial alike. I've also gone into the device manager and tried to have it update the drivers that way, and it seemed to have done something but I no longer have Catalyst Control Center or the option to "Configure Graphics" to switch between Intel 3000 and Radeon 6700M, so I don't know if the graphics card is actually working.
I've tried jumping on League of Legends after every attempted installation, but it is always at a really low fps, so I concluded that my graphics card wasn't working and decided to ask here. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me. Thanks! -
Has anyone tried these drivers? sp59147 HP. (more recent than driver from 1st post)
I have a dv6-6770m with Windows 8 and these are working. -

The updated graphics driver package is provided by HP and includes a newer version of the Intel switchable graphics driver. -
It never ceases to amaze me. HP has written drivers for everything EXCEPT Envy 17-2xxx series 6850M. You pay a premium and Pavillion gets top billing. Mind you...great if you are a Pavillion owner or Envy 17-3xxx....but the company shows it's true colors ...
-
Great Thread Thank You so very much for a place to get current and updated Drivers and Information on my ancient Pavillion dv7-6100 that's a whopping 15 months old.
Has anyone tried installing the new HP Windows 8 Graphics Driver Package on a Windows 7 system??? I am not planning on going to Windows 8 and I doubt that HP will ever come out with a new graphics package for Windows 7.
It would be nice to get the few bugs I experience out of my system, I am running the Radeon HD 6770M/Intel HD 3000.
Thanks again for the great information, wish HP cared about their customers this much. -
The link for AMD Graphics drivers for dv6 6xxx series Windows 8 version does not work: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59001-59500/sp59147.exe

That worked for me (It says my driver is 7400 series while it is 6490) but it still works accordingly to Windows index.

Any solution please to make the AMD 6700 works with Windows 8 Pro.

I have a question on the GPU drivers listed.
I assume since they have that HP sp number, that they are in fact HP drivers. If so, why is that sp59147 NOT listed under my HP driver support page for my dv7t-6c00 with the 7690m xt/intel3000 gpu/apu? Why is it only showing up here? And how was it obtained?
I am also wondering if there is ANY update to the old nov 2011 W7 HP driver for this setup available, or if anybody has any insight to HP if they will even do an update.
Its pretty messed up when AMD and Intel continue to pump out updates yet HP ( AMD) users can not even update from those manufacture sites, we are relegated to waiting on HP. Unlike the people that use the Gforce gpu, they ARE able to directly download the latest NVIDIA updates.
I have my W8 Pro promo downloaded, but am waiting for a working driver for this setup before updating, I don't feel like having to become a software engineer just to get a gpu driver installed and working, ie messing with BIOS settings, doing some sort of mix and match routine, and ending up ony to re install my W7.
Yes there are 3rd party driver available (leshcat) but you end up with a test mode, have to remove the water mark, and than find the driver no longer works as before, and the mix and match starts. -
OMG its SUCKS, why they do this to DV6-6150EW laptops.
They release windows 8 64bit graphic card drivers
9.000.0.0000 (AMD)
9.17.10.2843 (Intel SG)
8.0.0.8808 (HDMI Audio)
but there is no update for windows 7 64 bit drivers
8.882.2.3000 (AMD)
8.15.10.2476 (Intel SG)
7.12.0.7702 (HDMI Audio)
which are year old! -

The new BIOS to HP Pavilion dv6t-6c00 out on HP support page:
HP Notebook System BIOS Update HP Pavilion dv6t-6c00 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC | HP® Support -
Envy 17 2XXX also got a BIOS update today. vF.1C
According to the changelog: - Provides support for the airplane mode hot key in systems running Microsoft Windows 8.
So for all of you that updated to Windows 8 and you do not have switchable graphics and most importantly your hot keys are not working in airplane mode.. DO NOT WORRY, HP have your back!!
A month after Windows 8 released they fixed the........ hot key... lool
Sorry for the sarcasm but as many of you pointed here, the situation is something else... Its something between a misery and joke... You seriously do not know if you could laugh or cry...
At least they did care to release a fix for Windows 8, probably the graphic drivers is not that far away. -

oh man, here is yet another driver "suggested" to me by HP employees.
Windows 8
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58501-59000/sp58875.exe
So what's different with this one, than the one posted on page 1 here (sp59147)?
Now I gave them my specs and card types, so who knows where this one came from.
(dv7t-6c00, radeon 7690m xt/intel3000)
btw that BIOS update is also listed for my unit on HP, but the silly auto update check says there are no updates available lolol.
updated
this is what I got from the HP expert on the otyher drivers incl the one listed here for the 7690
sp58815 is for Envy 15 models.
sp59147 is for Pavilion g4/g6/g7 models (so this one ilisted here isn't for my Pavilion either)

update 2
got this just now from "wes" on that driver said I was gona trust but "verify" before I use it
----------------------------------------
Well that explains why it doesn't appear on the download page for your model. You'll have to trust me then. The information I have says it's the correct one for dm4-3xxx, dv6-6bxx, dv6-6cxx and dv7-6cxx. It may not have been released for all of them yet.

update 3
OK well maybe those with this 7690m xt need to go to the link I poosted and read through the posts, seems even the HP "experts" can't get it right. I'm told now that there is yet a driver to be released for the dv7t-6c00 for Windows 8. its still a hit or miss ordeal, however more people seem to have good success with the sp59147 than any other so far on 8.

Someone smarter than me just let me know what the problem is. The driver for dv7t-6c00 has not been released yet. It will be on the ftp as SP59850 when it is available.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59501-60000/
Check back in a few days. I'll keep an eye out for the download page to make sure it appears there. Sorry for the confusion.

update 4
OK so the final word from Wes was............. wait for SP59850 to be posted............ wonderful.................. -
Sad news for the Envy 17 2XXX owners as HP announced today on their " Windows 8 Expert day" that the notebook will not be officially supported for Windows 8.
Unbelievable I know... No matter what I say, I cannot describe how bad this situation is...
That means an official GPU driver for the laptop will never arrive. A driver for a similar model may be supported thought, but we have not clue if this is going to happen and when, it may be tomorrow or in three months or never...
I have already started the process to replace the Envy 17 with something else, so I am out guys... Good luck -

A side question:
Can anybody point me to a blog about what to do with the extra partitions on a HP laptop after upgrading to W8?
I have a HP laptop, and as with most I assume ALL have these 4 partitions, system/C/D/E the D is the recovery partition, which will be useless once W7 is over written, The E is some Tools thing, which again I don't know if it will be of any use on W8. The "system" one a small 200mg thing I assume is still used I don't know, weather this is something that W7 makes at boot or if it a BIOS thing.
So I'm looking for some info/guidance from anybody that has already upgraded their HP laptop to W8 and what they found happened to the partitions, or what they found they still kept. -
Here is an interesting article from HP:
How to repartition HDD of HP notebook with pre-installed Win... - HP Support Forum
Maybe it could be of some use for you. I did some of this stuff before installing Windows 8 as a dual boot. -
I'm using sp59147 on my hP dv6-6190, and it's working well. Is that bad? -
I know that once I do that , the D recovery partition will be useless anyway, and can be deleted than. -
As for now it seems the sp59850 reported to may be a driver for my model isn't. its for the dv4 -
So currently the HD 7970M XT is supported by a new HP driver but not the HD 7690M?
-
Well I have the dv6-6170sl and sp58788.exe is working perfect. It's listed for the PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6741="Radeon (TM) HD 6630M", but when you look into the installation inf you also will find as supported devices:
AMD6740.1 = "Radeon (TM) HD 6770M"
AMD6740.2 = "Radeon (TM) HD 6770M"
AMD6740.3 = "Radeon (TM) HD 6770M"
AMD6740.4 = "Radeon (TM) HD 6770M"
AMD6740.5 = "Radeon (TM) HD 6770M"
Also graphics card switching between Inel and Amd works without a hitch. The same goes for sp59147.exe. The difference lies in the slightly newer Intel driver and the info found in the cva file. Whilst the first does not list any specific model the later says it is for the Pavillon g4, g6 & g7. But as long as it works ...
Btw the following cards are also listed as supported:
AMD6741.4 = "Radeon (TM) HD 7690M"
AMD6740.7 = "Radeon (TM) HD 7690M XT"
The new driver sp59850.exe states dm4 as model and supports the following cards (from cva):
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6840="Radeon(TM) HD 7590"
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6740="Randeon (TM) HD 6770M"
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0126="Intel(R) HD Graphics Family"
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0116="Intel(R) HD Graphics Family"
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8086&DEV_2805="Intel(R) Display Audio"
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6760="Randeon (TM) HD 7470M"

Hmmm well OK looking at that list of yours this IS on the list at the very bottom
"%AMD6740.7%" = ati2mtag_Vancouver_PXAI, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6740&SUBSYS_185E103C
So I assume the 7 = 76xx cards, and it has my subsys numbers 185103C, so what ya think?? would it be a shot?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
However, since its not listed on my driver download page it means it hasn't been certified by HP to work for my model, so I don't know how the Intel part would act even if the Radeon works. -
Upon looking at SP59850, the Softpaq only supports some of the notebooks in this thread. Namely:
- HP Pavilion dv6-60XX / dv6-61XX series
- HP Pavilion dv7-60XX / dv7-61XX series
And...well, that's it. Furthermore, the Intel driver components found in this Softpaq are older than what the current release on the first post offers.
SP59147 (current HP release):
9.000.0.0000 (AMD Graphics)
9.17.10.2843 (Intel Switchable Graphics)
8.0.0.8808 (AMD HDMI Audio)
SP59850:
9.000.0.0000 (AMD Graphics)
9.17.10.2817 (Intel Switchable Graphics)
8.0.0.8808 (AMD HDMI Audio) -
The components from the softpaq sp59850 are infact identical to softpaq sp58788. The only difference is the cva file.
-
Well my subsys is on there for my dv7t-6c00 so why wouldn't it work?

Also just that a driver says it works on a 7690m xt/Intel 3000 doesn't mean it will work on any model with that card setup. It seems that YOUR model has to be supported before the driver would work. Those other sp's may have that card setup, but the hardware ID's don't match up. I seen several people install one or more of these sp's because they seen their gpu mentioned only to find they don't work.
sp58788 does not work on my dv7t-6c00, I'm not sure about 59147, but some have tried it and it doesn't work either. Last contact I had with HP was to wait for sp59850, that it would work on my model.
Of course I still have a bit of apprehension because its still not listed on my driver download page. And the HP guy did say only way to be sure it was tested to work on your model was to see it listed for download on your models page.
This whole thing has gone crazy since W8. -
-
Well until now on my dv6-6170 I have no driver issue so far. I don't know if we will find the updated drivers on the HP driver page for our models as it seems that there will be no Windows 8 support for them, There is a Bios update for some dv6 models which is for Windows 8 (sp59755), but not for my model.
-
OK looks like a new driver has posted at leshcat , and seems at least one kid with the 7690 says its working for him
Catalyst 12.11 Enduro 6/11/2012 UnifL for AMD+Intel Graphics ← leshcatlabs.net
but man this baby is like 350mg lolol -
This also means that the AMD graphics cards within the dv6-6bXX / dv6-6cXX and dv7-6bXX / dv7-6cXX family could work with these drivers too, should they have a matching hardware and subsys ID.
-
However sometimes those Intel drivers can cause problems themselves, I haven't looked into the subsys strings listed in that sp59147, what's your opnion?
Also what's your take on that enduro style driver from leshcat that he just posted? how does that compare to either sp59147 or sp59850? -
The packages are exactly the same from the looks of it (down to the components and their versions). The HP certified models in the CVA file are different (which I'm going to ignore for now), yet the product support as shown in C8146815.inf is exactly the same as that of sp59147.
Driver component versions - support for Windows 8 x64 only:
- 9.000.0.0000 (AMD graphics)
- 9.17.10.2843 (Intel switchable graphics)
- 8.0.0.8808 (AMD HDMI Audio)
