That's what i thinked too but i don't think they lie in an official mail conversation from HP TotalCare..whem i get news i'l post here !
Here is the answer for asking "how long shoul i wait for new drivers?": "I apologize for all the inconvenience this unintended delay might have caused you.

Claudiu, I can understand your concern however I would also like to inform you that till now our technician is researching on the drivers compatible for your PC and as soon as I have gathered this information I will e-mail you again."

There is no more need to install unsigned/unofficial beta drivers like 3rd party or waiting now for the "manufacturer"

Microsoft has release a new driver update for systems running AMD/Intel graphics switchable graphics configuration. The "Advanced Micro Device, Inc. - Graphics Adapter WDDM1.3 - AMD Radeon HD 7400M Series" update solves all issues concerning Windows 8, 8.1 and Switchable Graphics.

the update not only contains the latest official AMD Graphics driver, but also installs a fully operable and configurable updated version of the Catalyst Control Center (Version: 2013 1206 1603 26764).

The update is provided by Microsoft through its Windows Update Service. You can also manually download this update via Microsoft Update Catalog. Of course, there are different versions of the update depending on the AMD device series your system has installed.

At the windows Update Catalog site just change the search query to what ever AMD gpu model you have. Doing that will take you to the update download page where you can find the particular update you may need.

    Microsoft Update Catalog

the page only seems to work if you use IE

HOODY8, if I remember correctly, installing WDDM could mess up with installed drivers (at least for Leshcat drivers). What has changed?

Well Leshcats latest drivers are not anymore beta/unsigned drivers but have been customized trying to make them work with different manufacturers.

The updated drivers from MS are general drivers and might not work with all Laptops. Indeed when I tried them with my HD6770m+HD3000 on Windows 8.1 they messed my system completely up. Fortunately its a test installation just for trying things out.

Yes, many Laptop manufactures use modified chips from AMD (cheap). I also have other Laptops with not switchable graphics from NVIDIA and rarely experience any problems using their original not customized drivers. I believe that is because NVDIA has standard graphics chips not customized by the various OEM's, so there is no need to adapt drivers for every different chipset.

Let's wait and see if HP has changed their mind about supporting older hardware. Their previous reply to me was different, but maybe they have reflected over it.

The drivers from IDT are also still updated and fortunately are working fine. Maybe because they are developed directly from the manufacturer and then supplied to HP.

Also Validy (wbf) seems to have abandoned further development of their older versions. The latest available drivers 4.4.234 are causing some smaller problems on Windows 8.1 and all newer versions are not compatible with the hardware.

Yeah I know all about those "OEM" gpu's, anyway all I could ever install and use was the HP (manufacturer) sp59850 driver that they made for W8, which actually worked OK, just that it was AMD's 2011 drivers. AMD didn't support my card at all. But since AMD's 13.9.4 (beta) drivers I have been able to directly install them. The one I have now is AMD's last final 13.12. So for now I'm updated and am having no issues. The first drivers MS tried to send out may not have been coded right and thus caused more problems than they were worth, maybe these newer ones along with AMD having done some changes are OK, I dono. I went to that link and put in my 7690m xt and it did show me the driver ONLY for that gpu, so who knows maybe they do differentiate between gpu's now, again I don't know, I didn't mess with them.

here's part of what I told that guy that sent me the MS link.

As for the video drivers, sounds good, btw I don't use leshcat drivers, I installed the regular final AMD 13.12 driver I downloaded right from AMD, which incl the latest CCC, and no problem installing it, although as I said I did leave my old HP sp59850 driver installed, my gpu is this half azz OEM 7690m xt which is just a 6770m at its core anyway. I then got the newest Intel apu driver for my 2nd gen 3000, and installed that, it also went OK. So as far as I see I already have the signed drivers, maybe that's why MS update doesn't give me anything as far as drivers go. But we'll see when something updated comes out like a 14.01 from AMD.

Have you tried Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. - Graphics Adapter WDDM1.3 - AMD Radeon 6600M and 6700M Series ?
If you did, what did it change?

Yes, you can upgrade your wireless card if you find the right model to fits your mini card wifi. I have the same Intel 1000 installed and i think to upgrade to this: Amazon.com: HP Mini Wireless N PCIe Card Atheros AR5BHB92-H AR9280 DV7 Series 300Mpbs 802.11a/b/g/n Dual 2.4/5 GHz 2x2 MIMO: Computers & Accessories or this: http://www.amazon.com/Intel-Premium-Wireless-Mobility-6235AN-HMWWB/dp/B007QXLIWI/ref=pd_sxp_grid_pt_2_1
This will work with 5 Ghz network but be carefull, ac networks dosen't have the same range as 2.4 Ghz..If you find another model of Wireless mini card better than what i show you please PM me..Good luck !

    Hi,
if you believe the Amazon reviews, it seems the second card you mentioned is the one to go for. Having said that, i'm not sure if the BIOS in my laptop will recognize the new card. I have the HP DV7tQE. ( I need to change my signature :) )
I have to read more about this before taking the plunge. Maybe someone who has upgraded their wireless card on this specific HP model can chime in. Thank you

I don't think that the BIOS will be a problem and also i don't think that anyone has changed their wireless card here but you can try it , in fact is not a so expensive upgrade.. If is works dont forget to post here. I'm thinking to make a change to but i'm from Romania and it is a little hard to do it..

I'm interested in refreshing my laptop (Windows 8.1, sp59585 drivers, 6770m, Core i5, dv6t). I've been out of the loop here for months. What are the right drivers to use now in terms of switchable graphics? The gist I'm getting is that we install the sp59585 drivers, install 13.4 over these drivers...is that right? What about the drivers on the Microsoft Update Catalog? Can anyone comment on their efficacy?

Your product page doesn't have a link for you to purchase a set of recovery discs, but I think they do exist. :)

You can probably order the following set and give them a try (found this on the dv6-3160us product page):

Unfortunatly, both the new Synpactic drivers (17.0.16.1 and 18.0.1.32) don't work on my Envy 17-2190ef, and with the same problems.
Double tap and touchpad deactivation in the left-up corner don't work even if I untick and tick again the otpions.

Thank you very much, I have done this and it works, but now I have a few problems

    1. The most important: Now I can't close my notebook, because when it goes to "sleep" mode, when I put ON the notebok works... but the screen is in BLACK (I have to shut down press Alt+F4)

    2. I can only change the brightness of the screen when I am with the Intel HD3000 graphics, when I am with the radeon I Can't

My notebook is an HP Pavilion DV6-6090es (AMD Radeon 6770m, intel HD 3000 graphics)

I would appreciate very much If anybody could help me with this problem, Sorry for my english, I'm not a native speaker.

    Thank you very much

Did installing this reg file help fix the brightness adjust issue for you?

I too am having both issues that you reported. The brightness and sleep mode issues.

I tried that reg file and didn't seem to help for me..

To fix everything use dynamic mode, because the support for fixed mod has been discontinued for windows 8 and 8.1:

I was also having the same issues, but now everything work's (brightness, sleep and etc), i just put dynamic mode on the bios and did a clean install of windows.

Maybe the audio driver is not working properly. Because in beats audio - listening experience, the options music, voice, listen, do not work! But with the official driver options work properly.

    My notebook is hp 6159sl
