    Hi everybody!
I'm having an issue with the WIFI and Bluetooth connection on my HP DV6-6186nr.
Yesterday I had to replace the hard disk, because of 301 error in the original HD. I bought a WD 1TB and I installed Windows 7 Ultimate (previously I run Windows7 Home Premium)

Everything is ok, except the wi fi connection. I tried every driver I found over the web, HP Website, Intel Webstite... but it's impossible to activate the wi fi . I can connect via LAN cable anyway.
What is more, I tested de old drive again on the notebook (still working though 301 error) and it connects Wi Fi! So it's not a hardware failure.

It has an Intel Centrino Wireless N1030 (in the previous HD drivers dated form 2011) I' ve installed them, but no way, I've installed the latest one and it doesn't work.

Any help or suggestion will be appreciated.. thank you (excuse my english, I'm from Uruguay)

    HI Maria in Uruguay

I was having a problem with my driver too after I updated to update 1, my tray icon went missing, and when I installed the new driver it had a red x and said my hardware wasn't supported, when I knew it was. Anyway after messing aroung and no working, I deleted the driver in device manager, than re installed the new driver for the 1030 card, it took and now all is OK. So maybe you can try that, if you haven't found a solution yet.

Just D/L and installed the new AMD WHQL driver 14.4 it went smooth as glass, no problems at all, the same way the latest Intel driver (3517) went right from Intel last week.

No problems at all after system restart.

Its so good to see AMD now supporting these 7690m xt's with a "normal" NON OEM driver instead of these idiot "we only make one driver in your lifetime OEM's" like HP, it was nothing short of insane and only drove many to Gforce. So no more waiting for an OEM driver from HP, and even no more concerns about HP OS drivers as I have since updated my original OEM OS (W7) to Windows 8.1up1.

So for people that have a AMD 6700 series GPU, or one of these 7690m xt's (re-branded 6770) you should now be able to just go with the normal released WHQL drivers.

note: use the "mobility" driver for laptops

HOODY 8 Does the switchable graphic feature still work after you installed the new Intel and AMD WHQL drivers? I have a Pavilion DV7 6190ed with Intel HD Graphics 3000 and RADEON (TM) HD 6770M. I actually have Windows 7 but would like to do a clean install for Windows 8.1 provided the switchable graphics feature works. Did you set the switchable graphics in your Bios to Dymamic or Fixed mode?

If you searched two pages back you would find your answer, but anyway here you go:

For windows 8 and 8.1 you should only use dynamic, because they don't support fixed anymore. If you use fixed you will have a lot of problems like: brightness, sleep and etc.

And could i make a choise between the two chip working on hardware? From bios i can not see any kind of option. Thanks

Everything as far as I can see works OK, and yeah I use "dynamic" I see no reason not to anymore, I used to use Fixed to utilize only the 7690m xt, but it was pretty much a waste of time, setting it to dynamic works just as good.

BTW I don't play any heavy games like BF4, but the ones I play all work fine, I assume when ever one of the games requires the AMD card it switches automatically.

Like I said I'm just glad those of us that ended up with these AMD rebrands are now able to d/l drivers direct like the Gforce people. And not depend on some OEM "manufacturer" like HP in my case.

I have Dynamic mode enabled in my Bios and have installed the links listed back a few pages . Intel - Win64_152820 and AMD - 13-12_mobility_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql with brightness fix .

Has anyone installed the latest AMD Driver ? 14-4-mobility-win7-win8-win8.1-64-dd-ccc-whql

Also I don't see the AMD Enduro control panel , where do I find this? Like this AMD Gaming: AMD Enduro™ Technology –... | AMD Blogs

Yes, installed both the latest drivers from Intel (3517) and AMD (14.4), no problems. on my W8.1up1 x64. However the brightness keys on my laptop do not work, could be due to installing W8 over the OEM W7 that came with the laptop. I can change it if i use the intel gpu control panel.

The only control panels I see are the one for the Intel graphics, and the CCC for AMD. But since I'm set to Dynamic, I don't see the usual way to set each program up to use a specific card in CCC, I assume the dynamic setting just takes care of that on its own.

btw I have the 2nd gen Intel 2670 cpu, and Intel 3000 APU along with a 7690m xt, (rebrand 6770m)

Your info has be amazing in my quest to get my drivers installed properly with the switchable graphics control panel enabled.
I have an HP DV6 6195 ca with the 6770m and Intel 3000 . i7 2630QM cpu running Win8.1 update 1 . I also have dynamic mode enabled in the BIOS

After a bunch of trail and error , I ended up installing all newest drivers above of the above and then installed the Modded 14.4 driver from here - Modded Catalyst 14.4 WHQL (switchable graphics fix) - Guru3D.com Forums

In the end I achieved my goal of opening up the Switchable graphics tabs so I can set what games / apps use the ATI card. As it was when I first bought my laptop 2 years ago with the stock drivers . I really irks me that HP (not just HP happened with my DEll XPS 15 as well) abandons driver updates on laptops so early .

Well, I been leching off the driver updates for almost a year now. I thought its about time I help you folks out.
First I would recommend updating your Bios to this one... sp55068. This will unlock your Bios to advanced settings, and no issues with newer WiFi Cards(Removes WiFi Whitelist). But beware this is for HP Laptops that use F.1B Bios only!!! I've been using this Bios for 6+ months now no worries. Also delete HP tools partition if you ever created one. If your not sure you can read this... HP DV6 F.1B BIOS MOD THAT DOESN'T CMOS RESET. This Bios is good for Advanced users wanting to turn there HP's into a Hackintosh.
Second as far as the Intel-Radeon graphics go I use this one... Leshcat’s Catalyst 14.4 WHQL UnifL v1.3 - leshcatlabs.net. I been using this setup for a few months now and I have no issues. It pretty much does the install of both graphics, and its a breeze no Issues! Install the Intel reset, install the Radeon reset your done, and use Dynamic mode. All AMD graphic options are available, and If you have any questions the Leshcats.net site will answers all your questions, and don't forgot to delete all graphics drivers pertaining to the Intel-Radeon or just do a fresh Install your choice before you install any new ones.(Go to Device manager and delete all graphic drivers).....OK , I Hope this help you people out...Good Luck!

F1C , 2013 version is the latest BIOS for my unit, F1B was the 2012 version.

    DV7t-6C00, quad core 2670

be careful with these drivers, they can hose a system real quick like if you use the wrong one.

Since I'm able to install the drivers directly from AMD (mobility) now I use them, same for the Intel driver now.

I would like to test that modded driver that was posted by mecne with a link that took you to some MEGA download site, It seems to have a more option listed CCC gui, but I can't seem to get the thing completed to download, it always stops at around 81% and will not restart from that point, I've tried 3 different browsers. Waiting for someone that has it to make it available.

btw I've removed both the tools and the recovery partitions, since once I updated from the OEM W7 Home Premium, to W8 Pro (8.1.1) it wouldn't work any more anyway when using the recovery key, and wouldn't want to anyway. I did make a copy of the system recovery DVD's in case when I got it, but now even they are of no use as I keep my system Imaged on a regular basis with my W8 OS in case I need to recover fully, not just using a restore point.

OK it took a lot of messing around to get this modded driver thing, had to use my old Vista 32bit machine, well anyway after trying it out, I found it wasn't a good thing at all, it did install, but ended up showing me even less in the CCC than what I had, also the CCC didn't even see the driver, I think its mainly due to not being the "mobility" version that they modded. Anyway did a image backup before I did it, also a restore point, the restore point got me back with out having to use the image so I'm back to what I had.

I'll stick with the normal AMD drivers from now on, the ones they post on their site for downloads, the mobility one for laptops. They install well now. I jus wanted to see why my CCC wasn't showing the same as the one posted by meche. Oh well.....

    Hi,

the first link is for Renesas USB 3.0 driver allright but is for different chipset; the chip integrated in most DV6-6xxx laptops is device ID=0194. HERE is the latest Renesas USB 3.0 (for device ID=0194) driver, version 2.1.39.0, which was actually never released from HP.

WLAN Broadcom driver is ok and is newer than on the first page of this thread.

The HP Simplepass software is outdated; check the first page for the newer/latest one.

I would suggest using these drivers for your graphics... http://leshcatlabs.net/2014/05/11/leshcats-catalyst-14-4-whql-unifl-v1-3/. This site has been posting updated graphics for INTEL/ AMD for over a Year now, and believe me you'll be impressed (All AMD options you wish for are available). I've been using them for months, and as of now I have no problems (Use Dynamic Switching). As far the modded graphics your are posting they are clearly made by NOOB. He's basically telling you its his first time doing it, and on top of that you got to do all these cray steps to install it. I would go with the leshcatlabs.net - Keeping it Simple. Ads free.. There Drivers have been around longer, and no crazy procedure. First Remove all the current drivers. Second install the Intel drivers and reset. Third install the AMD drivers and reset that's it! . That's a simplified explanation, but you get the point. Anyways Its your choice I'm just giving you another option.

I would like to add some extra info to this if you don't mind since this thread also relates to the 6850m / Envy 17 2xxx.

On the 6850m 14.4 v1.1 users need to select Legacy Intel drivers for Intel to AMD switching to work without blackscreen. (1.3) does not have this fix. Standby works on AMD. Only thing that doesn't work is the brightness control on AMD. We will re release 14.4 with modern Intel modded to work with Intel to AMD at some point once we finish the 14.6 tests.

Here comes the sad news: AMD 14.6 has cut support for "fixed" mode switching. Whilst I have been able to install the driver on Windows 8.1 a lot of "Manhattan" users similar to the 6850m i.e. 5650 / 5xxx have not been fortunate and fixed mode is simply gone.
We are running tests trying to port the ability of the 6850m to other Manhattan cards but it is questionable if we will succeed.

Dynamic mode is the way to go for the future. If you can get a modded BIOS that enables this functionality then it is a huge advantage.

PS. If anyone can get their hands on the Envy 17 2xxx F1D BIOS that is not publicly available it would be of use to a lot of people!

Do you really need Fixed Mode?

I found the best setup/way of getting the display drivers to play properly is to install the drivers from leshcatlabs.net - Keeping it Simple. Ads free. which currently have Catalyst 14.4 supported : LINK and using Dynamic Mode setting in the BIOS.

You can conrol which apps run on the AMD or Intel processor in the Catalyst settings and I find it works quite supprisingly well.
There is also an App Monitor in the Catalyst settings so that if your really skeptical on which graphics processor the process is using, you can see it listed.

Before installing however, besure to do a full uninstall of both AMD and Intel drivers that you currently have on your computer. I recommend following the guide posted by Leshcatlabs HERE .

Once everything is unstillad reboot into bios change the video settings to Dynamic.
Restart, then install the drivers from Leshcatlabs listed above.

For reference, my laptop model is the HP Pavilion dv7-6197ca which has the AMD Radeon 6770m and Intel HD Graphics 3000.

I hope this helps people out.

Heres a few screens to support everything :

    Manage individual app settings:

Where to turn on advanced view:

    @ deadlyrhythm

I am FunkyMike from leshcatlabs! ;)

Personally the Dynamic option is easier with a modded BIOS. However I do try to make sure that the drivers work on Fixed Mode too (14.4 1.1 legacy Intel).

Besides there are some people with the F1D BIOS (which isn't available online from HP) and don't want to revert to F1C just to obtain Dynamic.

I have also had no clear confirmation that Envy 17 2xxx 3D works under Dynamic switching properly. IE. 3D movie playback through provided software and TriDef 3D. (maybe someone can enlighten me?!)

Currently we are facing issues with AMD 14.6.

AMD seems to have changed Eyefinity SO drastically that a lot of old fixed switching laptops do not install the drivers onto the proper "virtual screen/display".

14.6 works on the 6850m with fixed switching (native) but the proper screens have to be chosen before installation.

    PS.

has anyone tried updating their Renesas USB 3.0 firmware (not drivers) on the Envy 17 2xxx ? It increases speeds for USB 3.0 devices according to the changelog.

    Hi justinkw1,
For Intel Management Engine Interface 10.0.0.1204 and Intel Chipset Device Software 10.0.14, it's OK on my ENVY 17-2190EF.
But for Intel Rapid Storage Technology 13.0.0.1098, it doesn't work. I've made two tests. Updating the previous one, the driver installs itself, but after reboot, the service doesn't start. And with an install after having deleted the previous driver, the installer directly tells me that my system doesn't meet the needed hardware configuration.
In the readme.txt file, I've read that:
Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology Release is designed to provide
functionality for the following Storage Controllers:
    - Intel(R) 9 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI/RAID Controller
    - Intel(R) 8 Series/C220 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI/RAID Controller
    - Intel(R) 7 Series/C216 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI/RAID Controller
    - Intel(R) C600 Series Chipset SATA AHCI Controller

No information about Intel 6 Series/C200
    The following one is working.

First of all I would to thank you for such nice software updates for HP Notebooks. It has helped me a lot in the past whenever I got strangled with the obsolete drivers. I have one request that if you can provide the link for the updated graphics drivers for the HP Pavilion dv6 6017TX model. It has switchable graphics with ATI 6770M and Intel. The last update was in Oct 2012 and the latest games like NFS Rival and Battlefield 4 demands the updated ATI driver. If you can help me with this I will be highly grateful. Thanks a lot :D

    Hello,

I have a HP DV6-6161SF and wanted to install Windows 8 Pro instead of Windows 7 Home.
Until now I had some difficulties with the following questions :
    - no driver for Ralink/Mediatek Bluetooth BC4 (some DV6-6161SF were also built with Broadcom Bluetooth)
    - no satisfying graphic drivers to manager switchable graphics (the drivers recommended on this forum make my computer very hot and are not very stable especially with games), when Leshcat's are not perfect either for the same reasons (for me)
    - I had difficulties to install HP CoolSense which is useful to manage thermal fan speed (self aborted installation)

Some days ago I decided to try again, because I previously tried with Windows 8.0 and now the current release is Windows 8.1 Update 1.
    What I did :
    - make a TrueImage complete backup of my hard disk
    - insert a DVD with Windows 8.1 (first release)
    - remove all partitions and install it with a standard key (Windows 8.0 key is not allowed here)
    - connect my Wifi network et activate with my own legal key (this is stupid but my system is clean this way)
    - get all Windows updates, especially Windows 8.1 Update 1

    What I noticed :
    - Windows now install graphic drivers that can manage switchable graphics !!! Wow !!! And they are not that old...
-> but when I chose "manage switchable graphics", I get a screen that does not allow to correctly set the applications

So I decided to reboot my computer, enter the bios, and switch from Dynamic to Fixed (concerning switchable graphics)
After the boot, my computer told me there was a change concerning graphics driver and now I'm able to set different ways to applications in the switchable graphics management console : high performance, energy saving, and based on power source (sorry if it's different for you, my system is french, like me :)).

And it works very well ! So to manage dynamic switchable graphics with these drivers, you have to set "fixed" in the bios ! In fact it's managed by AMD PowerPlay.

And concerning the other problems, I succeeded in all resolving :
    - generic bluetooth drivers are OK and work correctly, so no need of Ralink drivers for BC4
    - I installed Intel Chipset Drivers and Intel Management Engine Interface recommended on this thread (the only ones that correctly install, those from Intel don't allow to install IMEI)
    - I installed Quicklaunch sp59927, HP Mobile Protection Sensor sp64144, HP Software Framework sp59202, HP Support Assistant sp58915, Validity drivers directly from Validy web site ( Validity Sensors Inc. | Fingerprint Sensors for Smartphones, Tablets and PCs) - the ones from HP don't work correctly, HP SimplePass sp63224, and HP CoolSense sp64109 and other drivers (Ralink Wifi, Realtek network, IDT/Beats audio driver etc. ).

And all is doing fine ! Windows 8.1 Update 1 perfectly works and my computer is not heating or something.
So I'm happy and I hope it'll help someone... And sorry about my english which is far from perfect.

    Greetings,
    JR (from France).

    Hi,

don't wait for new Ralink drivers here, it's no use...

Always check MediaTeks official site (don't worry aboat the name, MediaTek took over Ralink a year and a half ago, so basically it's the same firm...):

    About Switchable Graphics Technology

Switchable Graphics technology is available on computers equipped with an integrated and discrete graphics processing unit (GPU), also known as a graphics processor. Switchable graphics technology combines system power settings with GPU selection.

Using Switchable Graphics technology, you can delegate graphics responsibilities to a specific GPU:
The integrated GPU typically yields better power efficiency and improved battery life, which makes it better suited for notebooks powered by battery. In the Control Center application, the integrated GPU is known as the "power-saving" GPU.
The discrete GPU typically consumes more power, but is capable of higher performance, which makes it better suited for notebooks that are plugged in. In the Control Center application, the discrete GPU is known as the "high-performance" GPU.
By selecting the appropriate GPU, you can reduce power consumption or even improve system or application performance. Select a GPU using one of the following methods:
Dynamic Scheme—Lets you assign different applications to different GPUs. For more information, see Assigning Switchable Graphics Application Settings (Dynamic Scheme) and Selecting Switchable Graphics Global Settings (Dynamic Scheme). When you select this option, a set of 3D application and video settings become available in the Control Center application for each GPU so that you can configure them individually. For more information, see 3D Settings and Video Settings.
Fixed Scheme—Lets you delegate all graphics responsibilities to a single GPU. With this method, you can manually change the GPU selection or configure your system to automatically switch GPUs based on power source (if supported). For more information, see Manually Selecting a GPU (Fixed Scheme) and Switching GPUs Based on Power Source (Fixed Scheme).
If your computer supports both selection methods, use the Switchable Graphics Method page to specify the one that you want to use. For more information, see Selecting a Switchable Graphics Method.

Using the Switchable Graphics Application Monitor page, you can track which application uses which GPU to check the results of your GPU selection settings. For more information, see Using the Switchable Graphics Application Monitor.

The Switchable Graphics applications settings are available as part of the Control Center application or as a standalone utility. Both versions can be accessed by right-clicking the desktop or the Control Center icon in the Windows® notification area. For more information, see Accessing Switchable Graphics Settings.

Note: For certain systems equipped with both an AMD integrated and AMD discrete GPU, Switchable Graphics technology is known as AMD PowerXpress™ technology. Feature availability and default feature behavior vary between systems. For more information, see AMD PowerXpress™ Technology.

In reference driver, use AMD mobility catalyst 14.4

    In intel HD 3000 9.17.10.3517

For install, i use options (for testing, i use Create a restore point):

4.1. Install Windows 8.1 in Dynamic scheme (bios option), then Microsoft install Graphics Adapter WDDM1.3...AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series Intel® HD Graphics Driver for Windows* 7/8/8.1 64-bit(15.28.22.64.3517) and Catalyst Control Center 1.00.0000 in Programs (control panel).
Catalyst Control Center Control Panel.JPG Catalyst Control Center Windows 8.1.JPG Switchable graphics.JPG
Not available select apps. In Power, Power Play only have "Plugged in" and "Battery" with options: "Maximize battery life" and "Mazimize Performance". Dynamic working how fixed scheme(bios fixed)? i think what not...

In Fixed scheme (bios option), it's possible select graphics card for application and energy
    powerplay.JPG configuracion.JPG aplicacion.JPG .

Then, fixed it's working how dynamic, i don't understand, but work. NOTE: Without AMD Gaming evolved, for example of AMD 14.4.

Thanks to Ashtaroth69 for this solution http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...4-2xxx-envy-17-2xxx-intel-85.html#post9739370

NOTE: i don't testing install windows 8.1 with fixed scheme(in bios) initially...

NOTE: We found locked applications, how can remove or whilelist? In nvidia, it's in register: http://support.lenovo.com/il/en/documents/ht005298, but in AMD? One option for locked apps it's rename exe file...

    CONCLUSION: Not UPDATE completely

4.2. Dynamic scheme (bios option select) Uninstall AMD y Intel:
    a. Stop Windows automatically installing drivers temporaly with metod 1: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2500967
    b. In Control Panel, Programs and Features, uninstall all AMD and Intel video controllers
    c. In Control Panel, Device Manager, uninstall display adapters for both and select Delete the driver software for this device, view, http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff553572(v=vs.85).aspx. Restart
    d. Finally, test this option http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...4-2xxx-envy-17-2xxx-intel-84.html#post9715875. I found what fixed scheme work good, but dynamic mode not it's available.
    e. Enabled option a, install drivers automatically

    CONCLUSION: Only fixed mode?

4.3. Dynamic scheme: HP drivers + new drivers (my selection) with AMD Gaming evolved
    a. Uninstall drivers installed for windows. View 4.2. a, b, c.
    b. Install hp drivers http://h30639.www3.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59501-60000/sp59850.exe restart
    c. Install Intel: win64_152822.exe Version: 15.28.22.64.3517 (Latest) restart
    d. Install AMD: 14-4-mobility-win7-win8-win8.1-64-dd-ccc-whql restart
    e. Enabled automatically drivers 3.2 e

CONCLUSION: ALL WORK: Mode dynamic, mode fixed, last drivers. The best option

    NOTE:
