    UGH!! HELP!! lol...

So I am doing what is discussed here and changing from the stock Windows 8 to Windows 7 on my laptop and so far it's been a bumby road. Using driver programs, windows updates and starting with only the wr drive working on this driver-less monster.
Here's my boggle. I was reading your post and I am looking for USB drivers and some "unknown" PCI device driver listed in Device Manager that won't install. I downloaded BOTH of the listed drivers you have for USB and neither work on my HP Envy d6 Beats audio intel i7 laptop. I tried and both claim that the hardware is not present, yet in my device manager it shows the 'usb device' as not having a driver. Just as well the 3 usb slots in my laptop do not work, (two on the left, one on the right.) I have almost everything working and I need help please.

    Thanks!

(edit added) Thank you for any help into this matter as I love using Win 7 and can't stand Windows 8.

Fix problems when the system boots (freeze 1-2 min) with the Catalyst => 14.9:
    1. Run regedit and find the option "EnableUlps"
    2. Change the value to "0"
    3. Reboot

For some reason the first post, with all the details of the drives is in giberish, and so I cant read it. What's up? What's wrong with the code? Any way, I need the windows 8 64 drivers for the ADM graphics card. If someone could be so kind and post it below it would help. Thanks.

I have HP pavilion DV7-6178. I am currently using windows 7 driver I got from this forum. Thanks!
However, I cloned my main drive and began to do some beta testing with the Windows 10 insider program. I noticed it did not recognize my AMD graphics card (6490m), even though I have it selected to fixed under the bios. I bet it is because I still have the old windows 7 drivers on the cloned disk, which I up dated to 10. I wanted therefore, to test and see if installing the windows 8 drivers could possible solve the issue.
SO, if someone could be so kind and post a working link for that below, it would help me much.

Anyone have switchable graphics working in Win 10?

I had it working perfect - dv7t-6000 with 6770. I think what I did was uninstall all the Intel and AMD software and drivers, then tried loading sp59850. After that, the auto driver update kicked in and updated both the Intel and AMD drivers and I had the Switchable graphics tabs and I could assign apps to the AMD cpu and it worked well.

I'm not sure how it worked at all since the dv7t-6000 I think didn't have dynamic switchable available, only fixed, but it really did. Apps like Minecraft would show running on the AMD from inside of them and there was noticeable improvement in games, plus more heat and fan noise too.

Anyway, I think Microsoft pushed a new version of the AMD driver this past week which killed it. It locks the whole computer with a black screen and I have to power off. I think it's version 14.50something in device manager. I think the one that was working was 14.40something. I've tried to find it somewhere, but can't. The Windows Update Catalog site doesn't show anything more recent than I think last summer for AMD drivers.

I've tried loading the Catalyst 14.12 and 14.9 and 14.4 as well, but I can either never get the CCC to come up, or 14.12 just seems to constantly freeze the machine for a couple of minutes.

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas, it would be awesome. thanks!

The computer boots fine but windows keep trying to label it as a 7900m series when its not. And when it does it functionally disables AMD. I haven't tried it but Microsoft at the Insider Community said to instill the sp55092 driver package in "Windows 7 compatibility" mode. I hope to try this soon and let you know how it works.

Update: I tried running the driver package normally and I would get the BSD; however, if ran in windows 7 compatibility mode it would run but it would simply stay at the analyzing point and then never move on. Tried it with a at least three versions of CCS. So its a no go for now. The only good thing about this is that the new Direct x12 runs the lintel 3000h graphic about (I am guessing) 20 percent better.

I have been using catalyst 14.9 for the past four months and have found it to be the most stable for the 6770(should be same for 6490), having tested both fixed and dynamic mode extensively. granted, i have only used windows 7 on this pc, but having tested most amd drivers up to that point, there is a huge difference in stability and performance. It is worth noting that 14.9 functions best in dynamic, and i did encounter incompatibility when it was paired with older intel drivers such as sp55092 and sp59850. Windows 10 compatibility is throwing another wrench into hp's already unstable system, so i cannot attest to how this will work.

Intel drivers sp55092 and sp59850 are incredibly outdated and caused me many problems. While the newer versions are not specifically endorsed by hp to be made for its switchable graphics, i have found this to function perfectly with no freezing, crashing, or BSD on boot.

I found it best, and necessary, to completely wipe old drivers from safe mode, then overwrite intel drivers, then reboot and install 14.9 on top of vanilla amd driver. Since I have been using this combo of drivers, i am no longer plagued with display driver crashes, black, or frozen screens. Having experienced nothing but problems with hp's finicky setup, i decided stability was best, so i have not tested newer drivers from either amd or intel.

Also, banking on a 20% increase from dx12 is probably extremely optimistic for 99% of scenarios.

With Windows 7 on my machine I completely agree with you about the 14.9 and intel package you linked. I had them on my machine when I updated to the Windows 10. The problem is that Windows 10 will not recognize the 6490m driver period. As of now it says its a 6400m series. I tried running the 14.9 but it eternally stays at the analyzing part "Enumerating source made for installable packages," and stays there. Seeing that I had previously had this on my drive before I updated, I went there on the update driver and found the package but the 6490m driver is not in the list. It’s as if it was never there?

I would manually uninstall whatever driver exists from device manager, and make sure no remnants of older catalyst versions are on the pc before trying to reinstall 14.9. As with windows recognizing the card, my 6770m appears as 6700m in device manager but that is just due to the labeling from the driver, and most likely your card is in fact being recognized properly.

There is a serious possibility that 14.9 is not the best driver to use for windows 10, as it is a little outdated, but there are not any official windows 10 drivers anyway. I would try the newest catalyst as well as switching to dynamic in bios to see if there is any difference. If you want to see if your card is working properly and being recognized, download msi afterburner and check what card is recognized and if it is actually doing the work.

edit: remember you are beta testing an unfinished product with outdated hardware, there might not be any easy solutions. hp certainly doesn't make it easy

Also can you provide the link for the latest switchable graphics drive for dv6-6xxx series. It will be very helpful. I appreciate your hard work and big thanks for this awesome forum. Cheers.. :D

Try here for drivers http://leshcatlabs.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=703 for switchable drivers. I have Amd 6770m and Intel 3000 switchable graphics on Win8.1. These worked out quite well for me. They have other versions as well that work well for most.
