Well they come from different sources either Hp, either manufacturer's site. So what is your problem now? I found updated drivers provided by hp and I posted. If dont want to use them that ok!!

Then ignore the older driver. Not all the drivers are old ok? It comes directly from hp. Some users may want to install only the hp-provided drivers. And stop complaining you are the only one. If you want updated drivers then seach the web

the problem with 'directly from HP' is that HP rarely if ever erases old drivers from their repositories even when superseded/replaced with new versions.

Then based on that argument there would be no need for this thread, this is for those who want the very latest not what is only on the default model page.

If you are satisfied with what HP decides to update (or not update) on the official page then stick with the HP site

That's the point of these driver threads. These threads are clearly designed for advanced user to find updated drivers for their model without the labor of scouring the web.

If you want only HP supplied drivers, just stick with HP download site.

    • Updated HP SimplePass Software by DigitalPersona to version 5.2.0.233 for Windows x64.

Also for those of you needing the multi-finger gestures, use the following Synaptics driver. If you do not need this feature, just use the current release that I have on the first post.

    Version: 15.3.12.1

This updated AMD graphics driver package was supplied by HP - more explanation below.

    12/20/2011
    • Updated AMD Radeon HD Graphics driver for dv6-4XXX (6570M) / dv7-5XXX (6570M) / ENVY 14-2XXX (6630M) / ENVY 17-2XXX (6850M) to version 8.882.2.2000 (AMD) / 8.15.10.2476 (Intel SG) / 7.12.0.7702 (HDMI Audio).

This driver package includes the following components:
    • AMD Graphics driver - version 8.882.2.2000
    • Intel Switchable Graphics driver - version 8.15.10.2476
    • AMD HDMI Audio driver - version 7.12.0.7702

This package will only work with these notebooks ("X" denotes a numeric digit):
    • HP Pavilion dv6-4XXX
    • HP Pavilion dv7-5XXX
    • HP ENVY 14-2XXX
    • HP ENVY 17-2XXX
    • HP ENVY 17-3XXX

It is recommended that you uninstall all older drivers first before installing this.

Just installed these drivers on Envy 17 3D 17-2100 and they DO NOT WORK. They install...but when you reboot, you get a black screen...audio works and no video. I uninstalled Catalyst 11.12 to try these, now I have to uninstall, reinstall 8.820 and then 11.12 over them. BEWARE Envy 17-2xxx users!!!

    • Added support for the dv6-6cXX and dv7-6cXX notebooks series.
    • Updated Realtek PCIe Card Reader driver to version 6.1.7600.90.

For this thread, the Realtek PCIe Card Reader driver is only for the dv6-6XXX / dv7-6XXX series.

Is anyone else encountering this issue? Sounds like a similar issue that NVIDIA users had also recently experienced with a recent driver release...

Oddly enough, they installed fine. No "Incompatible Hardware" issue or the like...but end result the same...three tried installs...all failed. Odd part is that I went back to 8.820 (June release)...installed the 12.1 preview over the top and all is good...go figure...

I have the Envy 17-2070NR (NON 3D) and have experienced the exact same thing as Bobmitch did! Had to correct the issue the same way Bobmitch did...

NOTE (Applicable to the ENVY 15/17 2nd & 3rd Gens ONLY): I did a quick scan of HP Supports' web pages and found that the "sp54917" update, which was released on the site on Nov 25th, ONLY applies to the Envy 17 3rd Gens!

    Hey @Justinkw1,

After looking through many, many forums and finally coming here (after being redirected from another forum), I found a kind person working on the drivers for systems with switchable graphics. I've read through and am wondering if these will cover my laptop as well.

    Dv6t SE 3000
    windows 7 64-bit
    mobility HD radeon 5650
    i5-540M

Please let me know as HP has completely abandoned these poor computers and the graphic card is sooooo underpowered!!!

You cannot download the drivers from the AMD website. Everyone here pretty much using this web site for the AMD driver downloads:

    http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=354962

Install the driver on top of the HP driver. Do NOT uninstall the HP driver. Be aware that when you do this, you probably will lose access to your Screen Brightness settings (F2 & F3), if so simply use the Power Icon in the System Tray or use Windows Mobility Center or any of the other programs designed to handle the chore..

    Hi minnick, welcome to NBR!

Since you have a dv6-3000 notebook, take a look at this thread instead:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...-hp-dv6-3xxx-dv7-4xxx-envy-17-1xxx-intel.html

Download and install HP's version of the graphics driver using the thread that I just linked. Then, what you can do is download and install the AMD Catalyst reference drivers on top of the HP version (very similar to the procedure that Gunny had mentioned above).

Direct download links to the AMD reference drivers are located on the first post. Do not use the package that AMD is offering on their website, since that's just a compatibility checker or for different products.

    • Intel X25-M Mainstream SSD Series
    • Intel SSD 320 Series

As a reminder, the Broadcom Bluetooth driver package version is 6.5.0.2900; individual driver components may have a different version number.

Also, there are two versions of the Intel WiFi Link package - one that includes only the driver, and the other which includes both the driver and My WiFi Technology software. Both versions are linked on the first post.

It's a future release that I shouldn't have posted just yet (I always do this and forget about the download link not working at the time I post). Once HP uploads the package, the link should actually work.

To reduce confusion, I have deactivated the link on the first post and will reactivate it once the Softpaq goes live.

    Hi all,
the latest Synaptics package posted on 1/19 has problems on my Envy14-2000. The touchpad works but the left and right click did not work. Going back to the version previously installed (sp55260), did help!
    Envy14-2000, I7, 6GB, W7 HomePremium. Kept the standard installation.

    Hi to all,

great work justinkw1! However, I can not update BIOS on my dv6-6b55eg to latest F12. I get something like "Wrong certificate..." when I try to update.

Correction also for HP SimplePass Software, I have found a newer version, 5.3.1.7 on the official HP site under my notebook model dv6-6b55eg. Previous versions, posted here do not work with my model.

HP SimplePass Identity Protection 2011 Software HP Pavilion dv6-6b55eg Entertainment Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

One more question aboat Synaptics touchpad. Does any of you guys have Scrybe installed? Does it work? I can not get it to work with official Synaptics driver ( http://www.synaptics.com/resources/drivers).

    Thanks!

    Keep up a good work!

What does the error message specifically say?

You may want to try re-downloading the package.

The software that you linked to is the Authentec version of SimplePass; the one I have linked here is the DigitalPersona version. I can change the first post to include the Authentec version.
