You do not need to update info because of me, but maybe someone else will need it. What it is the difference anyway between the versions?
Downloaded fresh BIOS installer, installed it (actually in the flash program nothing happens), computer restarts. Got info "There is an BIOS update... bla bla... Do you want to update?" I choose "Yes", got "Bios update failed". When I try to restart the computer again and press F2, then tried to manually update BIOS, I get
"The system BIOS update failed."
"Signature of BIOS image failed verification"
Any ideas?

Hi everyone! This thread is brilliant! I wish I would have found it a while ago!
Anyways, I've been having issues installing my graphics drivers since I wiped my drive and reinstalled windows.
Specs are:
-HP Pavilion DV7-6c07eg laptop
-i7-2670QM
-Intel HD Graphics
-Radeon HD 7690M XT
-Windows 7 Professional 64-bit - English
I've tried many different drivers and none seem to work. I'm just wondering if anyone got the graphics drivers to work on a system similar to mine (Switchable 7690M XT+Intel HD).
With every non-hp/custom driver, it shows up in the device manager as an HD 6700M Series, which is wrong. But there is no yellow exclamation mark and it says it's working properly. However, when I try to start CCC, it does not start, it just gives me a message saying that there are no configurable options, and that's all. Same when I try to start the Switchable Graphics program.
I've downloaded the stock drivers from HP, and there's no options in the AMD installer to install the driver, or the CCC...
The driver IS in the install package however. If I go to manually update the driver in device manager and point it to Packages>Drivers>Display, it DOES show several cards including the 7690M XT, but if I select that, it tell me that it is not for my version of Windows. Which makes no sense because according to the HP page I got it from, it says it IS for Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.
Here's the page I downloaded it from:
AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver - HP Customer Care (United States - English)
I haven't tried the driver on this site yet, but I just want to know if anyone else got this card to work before trying another driver that doesn't work...
Everything else in my latop is up to date, including the BIOS (I have F.12). It's just the graphics driver issue now.
Are there any special steps to take to install this?
So far, I've been doing this when trying different drivers:
1) Uninstall all AMD/CCC components
2) Reboot into safe mode
3) In device manager, uninstall both video adapters, and select the option to also delete drivers.
4) Run cclean and driver sweeper (It never finds anything)
5) Reboot into normal mode
6) Install the sp5xxxx.exe package.
This never installs the graphics for my Intel card though. And the driver from HP for the intel card for my laptop says that the system does not meet criterias for installing the driver (or something like that).
Help -
@XTORO: You are not using the correct driver package. The page you linked to contains the graphics driver that is specifically for the dv6-4XXX / dv7-5XXX / ENVY 17-2XXX / ENVY 17-3XXX series.
You should be using the HP-provided driver package that is specifically for the dv6-6XXX / dv7-6XXX series (it's the second row in the current release section).

- 8.15.10.2476 (Intel Switchable Graphics)

Is the procedure I posted above how I should do the installation?
Should my BIOS be set to Dynamic or Fixed?
Do I need to install the Intel HD driver first? Or is it included in the package?
I will try this when I get home! If this works, you are my hero! I've been racking my brain with this since Wednesday! -
More information about sp55092 is available here.

So far my games are playing great on high settings
Probably not gonna try any updates now that it's working LOL
Thanks again! -
I came across the driver through my usual browsing of the HP FTP server - I then took a look at the driver's INF file, and this technically tells me which graphics cards are supported. -
Awesome work man, so glad I found this site!
The only problem I'm getting now is that in Word 2003, I get flickering of my tables and graphics...
Everything else is perfect including games, but Word is screwy no matter which grphx card I use... -

- Updated the post template.
The first post has a slightly updated look!
02/02/2012
- Updated Intel Chipset Device Software to version 9.3.0.1019.
- Removed Intel HD Graphics driver version 8.15.10.2559 (15.22.52[.64].2559) / 6.14.0.3086 (Audio).
The driver components within the Intel Chipset Device Software will have a version that is less than or equal to 9.3.0.1019, depending on when the particular driver was last updated by Intel. -
Just wanted to say a big thank you. Everything worked first time round.
If like me you neglected to check what kind of network adapter etc.. you had before you started re-installing you will find this website useful.

Hi.
Latest IDT HD Audio Codec driver version 6.10.6370.0 does not work on my dv6-6b55eg laptop. Installer does not run properly, no Beats console installed. This means it probably does not work with the whole dv6-6bXX series. Can anyone confirm that? Version 6.10.6368.0 runs perfect.
Thanks anyway, keep up the great work! -

- Updated IDT High Definition Audio driver to version 6.10.6370.0.
- Updated Ralink RT3090 / RT5390 WiFi Adapter driver to version 3.2.5.0.
- Added download links to AMD Catalyst Mobility 12.1 - version 8.930 (AMD) / 7.12.0.7705 (HDMI Audio).

This driver update is solely for notebooks with Intel HD Graphics technology. Do NOT install this on notebooks that have AMD graphics cards or switchable graphics support.

hi, i have a dv6-6xxx model and I cannot get the network adapter (wireless) to install. Ive tried every driver on this website. Can somebody point out what step I may be missing ? In device manager only the network controller shows up as questionable, its not the wired realtek gigabit either. thx.
-
Hi,
try installing the driver manually;
create a new folder and then download ALL drivers (Broadcom, Ralink, Intel) you think they could or should work and extract them into separate folders in newly created folder. Then go to device manager, right click on the device -> properties -> driver -> update driver -> browse computer... and locate the folder, where you extracted all the drivers. No doubt, it should find the proper one! -
-
I solved my own problem.
I opened up the back of the dv6-6xxx and examined the guts.
the adapter that is in there is the REALTEK RTL 8188CE
Downloadable from HP: "http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&softwareitem=ob-94226-1"
omit the quotes.
After that It shows up on my device manager as Realtek RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter
Also, a Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport appeared.
I didnt see this driver anywhere on this site, perhaps my fault but in case somebody else comes here and needs the driver they will find this thread. -

Hi,
Please help a noob here !!!
I own a dv7-6b70eb with switchable graphics intel/amd (6770m) and changed bios to fixed so i only use my 6770.
I would like, for a better gaming experience, to upgrade my drivers from the actual ones (provided by HP - 8.830.6.3000) to those found here (i believe it must be the 8.882.2.3000 or sp.55092.exe).
My concern, since i am a noob, is to avoid doing something wrong. I am a bit afraid as i read to many forums things like "only drivers provided by HP must be used for switchable graphics notebooks".
Also, i wonder if i can upgrade my drivers with the 12.1 offered by guru3d or the ones found here are more stable ?
Please, can someone advise me which drivers i can download and how to apply them (some say that it is very simple just overwrite them to the ones from HP - and others say to use a program to clean them in safe mode, reboot, re-clean etc.)
Thank you for your advice -
Directions, step by step:
1. Download the HP setup package - ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55092.exe
2. Download the AMD setup package - http://www2.ati.com/Drivers/mobile/12-1_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl.exe
3. Uninstall all previous graphics driver components. Reboot if necessary.
4. Execute and install the HP setup package. Reboot if prompted.
5. Execute and install the AMD setup package. (Do not uninstall the HP package!) Reboot if prompted. -
Thx for you time !!
In advance, i am sorry for what is about to follow but i am such a noob i need to make it very clear.
- So, i am in fixed mode with the 6770m card in use.
- I go to device manager and choose the 6770m video card and unistall the 8.830.6.3000 drivers.
- Then i reboot
- I install the HP setup package. Do i have to be in safe mode for this one ?
And is this package enough to have better drivers than the unistalled ones or i still have to install the amd package ?
A video would be cool !! -
-
thx justin
If i unistall the ati current drivers and then reboot (and before installing the hp package), will the display still fonctionning ? i am asking this considering that the drivers are unistalled.
Also, after the update, what about the intel drivers ? i suppose they will still have the original (old) drivers...or should i unistall them too because the hp package will update the intel card also ?
Finally, if i mess up with this procedure do you think a system restore will be enough ?
Thx a lot for your help !! -
Do not use a standalone Intel HD Graphics driver package in this installation process.
-
Ok, i think i got it...
to sum up:
1. i download the packages hp and amd (optional) + the original drivers (in case something goes wrong)
2. in device manager, i unistall the ati + intel drivers
3. i reboot
4. i click on the hp package and install the new drivers (that will install new drivers for both cards)...maybe reboot if asked
5. Optional : install the amd drivers (12.1 i think) on top of the HP package. But in the release notes they mention that it is not compatible with switchable graphics.
If something goes wrong, i unistall again both drivers (intel/ati), reboot in safe mode and install the original ones...
One last thing...all this procedure is done with my bios setting on "fixed" and the ati card chosen all the time...
Hope this will work...if you confirm of course...
Thx again !!!
PS: just visited HP site and the sp55092.exe is available for download. According to their instructions, i don't have to unistall the old drivers...

Thanks so much justinkw1! I've signed up to NBR specifically for this thread, and your (and others) hard work. Like 21deminio21 above me, I'm pretty noob at this sort of stuff, and updating makes me twitchy. I once fried a desktop PC with the wrong BIOS, after I had worked all summer and saved to buy it. Pretty disheartening...
I have an HP Pavilion dv6-6183tx, a Korea-only variant I think. HP made me go to their Korean site for sp55092.exe, but I didn't want to download it in case it caused some language issue. So, I'm glad someone else provided another source
I'm looking forward to your response to 21deminio21, as I have a similar situation as them and I'm considering updating soon. Thanks again. -

@serious_joker: Try to follow these procedures as well. -
justin, thanx a lot for your help
i think i have a problem
executed the sp55092.exe, chose custom with everything ticked (display drivers, ccc etc.)
then it started installing the drivers and after few seconds, black screen...
after sometime, i forced power off and booted in safe mode....
there, i unistalled the drivers for ati and intel and rebooted...
and then, the original drivers were automatically installed by windows without giving me any time for selecting the new ones...
what am i doing wrong ?
(Avast was disabled)
thanks again -
Also, given where you currently are in the installation process, try executing sp55092 now and see if it installs the drivers. Make sure no external monitors are connected during the installation. The installation process will take a few minutes, so be patient. -
ok, so i run sp55092 again, and in catalyst install manager i choose custom.
Everything is ticked (px profile, amd app sdk, display driver etc.)
Installation begins and after sometime, black screen like when in hybernation...i wait 10 to 15 minutes to see if anything happens (which it doesn't) so i switch off...
I reboot, go to device manager and for for both cards the driver is 8.882.2.3000 which is the sp55092 one.
Next move is to run again catalyst install manager since everything else did not update (black screen came before installing the other components).
In custom, i choose everything else excepte the drivers, and everything went smooth. CCC was perfectly updated.
Out of curiosity, I go again to cat.manager, choose custom and there everything is up to date except the display drivers which are ticked and read "current version not installed".
So, i wonder if even so, everything is ok, considering also that In dxdiag and device manager everything seems correct and stable (even tried a game). Would that be just a recognition problem from catalyst install manager ?
Another question i have is if i run the 12.1 package, do i have to update only the display drivers or i can also update all the other components found in the install manager ? and should i better go to device manager and choose custom installation and go search the W76a INF folder ?
thanks a lot for your time !!! -
I recommend that you use the AMD installer - do not try to use the Device Manager or Update Driver wizard unless you are encountering a problem with the AMD installer. -
thx justin for your assistance !
I installed the 12.1 package without black screen and the ati drivers (+all the other components) updated smoothly. Funny thing though, windows update asks me now to download drivers for my 6770m dated april 2011. Of course i didn't.
Help me clarify something please.
When the next 12.x package comes out, can i update it on top of the 12.1 or do i have to reinstall the hp ones (sp55092) and then update it ?
Also, if i simply want to roll back to the hp ones, i only have to run the catalyst manager setup found in the sp55092 and that's all. -
If you want to roll back to the HP drivers, I recommend that you first uninstall all of the components using the installer. Once this is done, run sp55092. -
Hi!
I finally figured out how to upgrade BIOS in my laptop from the F.02 to the F.12 version; I had to delete the HP_TOOLS partition, where all the info and certificates aboat the current, previous and new BIOS is stored. However, you do not need to delete it, you can also just rename it. -

I'm getting the BSOD atikmdag.sys error, after calling technical support they told me to do a fresh system-recovery and install some updates (BIOS, chipset and Graphics) from HP site. I did that and BSOD showed up like 2 hours later.
So, should I only install the driver linked on page 1 ( ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55092.exe) on top of the HP ones to *hopefully* get rid of that error?
Many thanks and sorry for bad grammar. (not native-english)

AMD Catalyst Suite v12.2 (with new graphic drivers) is now available..
Here is the direct link for Catalyst Mobility 64bit for Windows 7/Vista. -
There are issues with AMD Catalyst Suite 12.2. After first install, the laptop display is no longer detected. The video signal is output to an external display even if one is not connected. A system restart fixes this temporarily. When the GPU is switched to the Intel one and then back, again the laptop display is no longer detected. A system restart does not fix this. Instead, you need to connect an external display, restart the system and then switch to the laptop display.
