Thanks SNeM, these updates are now posted.

    04/10/2012
    • Updated Intel Chipset Device Software, version 9.3.0.1020.
    • Updated Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver and software, version 11.1.0.1006.
    • Updated Intel WiFi Link driver, version 15.1.0.18 for Windows 7.

You do not have to install this Intel Chipset Device Software package if you have already applied a previously released v9.3.X.XXXX package.

As some of you may know, mainstream support for Windows Vista ended on 4/10. As a result, I have decided that all future releases posted will mention support for Windows 7 but not for Vista; I will be phasing out support for Vista as I continue to post updates. Driver releases specific to Windows Vista will continue to remain however, for as long as they are current.

I will start adding Windows 8 support to many of the drivers here, especially as we get closer to the final version. The Release Candidate phase will undoubtedly be a great time to update these posts, in order to prepare for those of you wanting to run Windows 8 on a full-time basis. :)

There a quite a few changes in the AMD drivers between version 12.1 and the newer releases. These changes cause the backlight setting, power setting, and other things to get stuck and/or go out of wack. Uninstalling the drivers does not fix the issue. Basically, once you install the newer than 12.1 drivers (I've tested 12.1 and above personally), if you have any problems, you're kind of screwed unless you made some sort of full system image.

I was able to uninstall 12.3 by using Driver Sweeper and cleaning out my registry of everything ATI / AMD. Took a bit of time, but I am back to 12.1 with Switchable graphics on my HP Envy 17 3D and everything works fine. Didn't need a system image...although I have one. Cross fingers...got lucky!

    No need for system restore.

No! That's exactly what the guys are doing wrong! You must NOT uninstall the HP drivers!

The proper way for installing the official drivers from AMD (12.1, 12.2 or 12.3) is, that you should install the HP drivers first (or leave them, if you have them installed already) and then update them with the AMD drivers.

Personally, I did it this way with the AMD Catalyst Mobile 12.3 and I do not have any problems at all!

It's all a YMMV with updating with AMD generic drivers. I kept my HP drivers and installed AMD generic on top. Do note that even if the spec for a certain generation of notebooks stay the same, the actual motherboard revision can change. Hence, what did not work for some may work for others.

Is there a driver for the display monitor itself? Windows now has it listed as Generic Pnp Monitor with a max refresh rate of 60 HZ.

Or is there some compatible driver that Windows already has installed?

These drivers (12.4) aren't working good. They lowered my GPU Caps Viewer Furry Cube test from 78-83FPS to around 13-15FPS, same failure i saw in League of Legends. Uninstall them and get back do 12.3 drivers. These ones are working fine on my dv7-6130ew. No errors or lowered performance on them.

You should only be installing the HP-provided AMD graphics package, in order to enable the switchable graphics feature on your notebook. The Intel HD Graphics driver is already included.

I was personally having some problems with both the IDT 6.10.6392.0 and 6.10.6393.0 drivers. After these were installed, my system would completely freeze within 2-3 minutes of booting up each time. The only way to work around it was to uninstall these drivers in Safe Mode, restart, and then re-install the 6.10.6388.0 drivers. Everything worked fine again afterwards.

The driver threads report users having problems related to 6.10.6393.0, but not so much with 6.10.6392.0. Since it appears that 6.10.6392.0 is working properly with these notebooks, I have re-posted it. Sorry for the inconvenience!
