Well, I never planned on buying/playing this game, but my friend from EA got it for me so I guess I have little choice lol. Seems like the 11.9 drivers work alot better than the 11.10 drivers for this game, and 11.9 allows for proper OC.

Sooo.. on my dv6t-qe, I'm playing with 1080p on Ultra settings (but AA turned off....I don't see the point in AA on a 15in laptop with 1080p anyway). Laptop set to Performance mode (this game likes alot of CPU...uses 6-7 threads so quad core is win) and GPU oced at 865/1070 with voltage up to 1053. Runs pretty well, usually sits at 26-32 FPS, but it does sometimes dip to 19-25 if there's a lot going on. GPU thermals I think were at around 87C, but need to take a look again (thermal compound was replaced with arctic silver...or IC diamond.....ya I think i used IC diamond). Not a single crash so far (roughly 14 hours of playtime).

Anyone getting better settings/FPS on 11.10?

    @xAcid - Which is the best driver for DV6 6170 2GB 6770m ??
Need to OC & Play almost all games in good FPS.
Confused in between 11.9/11.10/DNA 11.8. ( All these are the same you posted in your previous comment)

Hope some one will help me !! :)

DNA 11.8.3 work wonders for me. Currently playing Skyrim@811/1040.
Many suggested 11.9 is good for BF3. I didn't try it tho.

Coyote suggested 11.5b is the best for overclocking and gaming which i partially agree.

11.10 in other hand gave me flickers in BF3 and few guys experienced broken flash and MPC videos.

To overclock 6100 series, u need to update the BIOS to F.1A and set graphic switching to Fixed in BIOS i think.

Oh ok. I'm currently installing the latest SP54462. Which driver should i install on top of this ?? 11.5b or 11.8.3 DNA ??

and while installing DNA 11.8.3 AMD Display Driver is downgrading 8.0000 driver. Should i untick it and install the rest ??

@xAcid, does increasing the RAM have a higher effect or increasing the core clocks?

Im at 875/950, seems ok, but dont know if its the most efficient

I tried 850/950 and it's not very stable for me. I get slightly lower framerates@800/1040 but it is rock solid. No problem playing BF3/Skyrim for hours.

Increasing core clock is better but not by much imo.
No it's not a downgrade. Just install everything except Application Profile.

Skyim: 8xAF, FXAA, all high and distance at max.
BF3: medium shadow and terrain deco, AA deferred=off, blur=off, 8xAF, AA post=high and others on ultra.

Gpu temps 79c for BF3 and 74c for skyrim. Didn't check cpu temp tho.. should be higher.

    Mine is DV6 with 1GB HD6770M.

Been using these since yesterday and was wondering what people have to say about them.
For me, it's more negative then positive. The positive is that the fps seems a bit higher which is always welcome. The negative is that the game crashes after about 15-20min (11.9 has never once crashed on me) and, just like 11.10, you can't change the voltage on the gpu. So far it's crashed like 4 times, going to give it one more go today, and if it crashes I'm reverting back to 11.9.

Okey So I just bought an HP pavilion dv6 with HD6770m graphics card.

And It's not working at all.
I spent the entire day yesterday just trying to fix battlefield 3 not going into to fullscreen mode.

And after I installed CCC 11.11 I managed to get it fullscreen (didn't work with 11.9 or 11.10) I get like 10 fps and glitchy graphics.

My previous laptop were an Acer TimelineX with some ATI GPU aswell and it just doesn't work good at all.

Should I return the laptop and back off while I have the chance and start look for a laptop with nvidia gpu or are they suffering from the same problems?

    Hi,

I just installed 11.9 on top of the 11.5b HP drivers. The installation went fine. However, I can't launch CCC anymore. I click on the application, but nothing happens. Any help?

DV6-6100 series? Update to latest F.1A BIOS and set graphic switching in BIOS to Fixed.
Try this.. Find the extracted 11.9 driver folder(Usually C:\ATI\) Go into Packages\Apps\CCC2\Core-Static.

Right click ccc-core-static.msi and select Repair.

    Ah no.
    A HP pavilion dv6 6b90eo

Have it in the box at the moment, ready to go back to the store and return it. Needed to be done, the aluminium cover weren't inline so had alot of LED bleedthrough from the HDD and power indicator. I'm anal about stuff like that and know it will bother me alot in the future so might aswell do it while I can negate the purchase.

    Such a shame.
    I know it's just a software issue.

But with my past experience with ATI mobile units, they just plain ignore even trying to offer support.
It has always boiled down to some community homebrew that requires 80 steps to make something work.

Anyways the HP has been returned to the store, currently looking for other options.

Run OpenHardwareMonitor and check your max temp while playing.. should be ok if it's under 90c.

That's totally fine. If your CPU was climbing above 90 it might be something to watch out for, but 80 is no big deal and 66 is actually pretty cool for the GPU.

I find it humorous that the drivers intended to improve performance in BF3 (11.10 and 11.11) make the game completely unplayable for me. I can't go any higher than 11.9.

Do you get terrain flashing while using 11.10? I feel like I'm the only one with this problem. If I'm in an area where the terrain layer isn't visible (paved streets and what not) then it runs awesomely. If the terrain is visible, it flashes every second or two and the flashes are accompanied by a stutter.

Unless they fork off some driver releases from 11.9, or fix the flashing from 11.10+, I think we'll be SOL for future driver updates.

Someone with 11.9 drivers could tell me if the driver match with this version?

    8.830.6.3000

I have the latest hp drivers for 6770m and trying to install 11.9, the system says I have that driver already installed.

    Ok Falco152

I installed a previus hp drivers version. Now Im downloading newer version from hp, date: 18/11. Will post here the version number to know if it is 11.9 or 11.10.

    EDIT

    8.882.2.3000 ---> 11.10 ATI ?

With this newer drivers, bf3 dosnt crash and fps between 30-40 (not less than 30). Smoothly

After making 2 attempts to install hp's latest drivers (1st attempt resulted in black screen and freeze during install - had to power off the system, 2nd attempt installed successfully over hp's previous drivers - i'm running in fixed mode with perfomance mode active), Bf3 plays smoother even if i enable vsync and motion blur. I had only one crash while loading a campaign mission. Event log says that driver amdpag or something failed. Do you guys have the same msg in your crashes?

I've been having inconsistent results with these new drivers (HP 11.9). I used them once and they worked beautifully--battlefield ran without a hitch, and faster than it has ever run before.

I tried relaunching battlefield later today, and suddenly it was significantly slower, choppier, and downright unplayable. In fact, it seemed like the computer was using the Intel Chip!

HOWEVER, I have fixed graphics on (BIOS F1B), and my computer was using the AMD processor. I don't know what's going on or how to fix it--help??

Ah, three more crashes in 3 hours session on campaign with new hp drivers. When it happens, it is always when it loads level with the SAVING message. At event viewer it says "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered". Do you guys have textures detail on ultra or high? I had no crashes with previous drivers but I can't go back, these drivers make bf3 so smooth...
