^ i maxed out the detail when playing MW3. That game use ancient game engine..

Arkham City DX11 is pretty badly optimized.. i use DX9 instead with everything ON and FXAA=Med@1366x768.

they both have the same cpu and gpu so they are basically the same performance wise the thing that is different between the two is the display one is 15 inch the other is 17 inch and the dv7 starts with 900 resolution and is probably upgradeable whereas the dv6 starts at 768 either way basically the same laptop one is just bigger but you should see wat they have for other things such as how much ram the laptop you are looking at has and what the price of each one is

I've had no issues with bf3 with hp and latest amd drivers prior to the 12, haven't tried those as mine are working.. however what settings are you guys playing on?

I have mine to custom, with only the top option at ultra then everything on high AA off motion blur off and only 4x enhancing I don't know what the options are since I just started playing it and I'm at work but those seem to be ok 1920x1080 resolution btw

I am also playing with an xbox controller but find it very annoying that

    1. not many people tag their enemies
    2. when I hit select on the controller not only does it tag the enemy but it also brings up the leaderboard score for the game and the commands for help and all that other stupid crap nobody uses, any way to change that?

    **edit i7 quad core dv7t 3.3Ghz turbo boost 2720Q, 6770m 2gb radeon gpu, 1080p display, 8gb RAM

when I set it to automatic, the settings are soooo crap, h8 the motion blur

I tried the 8.882 as well. I still crash while playing. I'm starting to think there is something wrong with my graphics card....
I don't crash a lot though, the same than with the 8.83 (I think that's the one), maybe a little less. But still, really frustrating.

In video options, try setting every thing on medium and play to see if you still have crashes.

I have tried High, Medium and Low. I still crash every now and then. (unfortunately mostly when I'm on a good team.)

I still don't know if my bios has anything to do, I never updated it when I got my laptop. It's is F.13 now.

Why don't you try to update bios and switch to fixed mode for a test? (you can always change back).

Hi, I've just installed BF3 on my dv6 with 6770m and I'm experiencing an annoying flickering while playing, especially when running. I have 8.882.2.3-110930a-126477C-HP driver version and catalyst 11.12 with no overclock and fixed mode set in BIOS, i've not experienced crashes so far. Does anybody else noticed the flickering and are there some other drivers that works better with BF3?

According to the description in the link someone posted somewhere in this thread I'd think I already have Fixed mode on. But for some reason my CCC doesn't have the option to change that so I'm downloading the 11.11 catalyst control center.

If I'm already in fixed mode... I guess i'll upgrade my BIOS... I didn't want to but I guess I have no choice? Also, which is the most stable BIOS version?

To be clear, what's your exact model? Because dv6 quad 61xx introduces fixed mode with bios F.1A (which is after F.13). Have you set it in bios? You don't have to install 11.12 catalyst, only drivers or else you will have problems switching between cards.

I've a dv6t-6000 quad. No, I have not set it in my bios.
Then just a question, if I should only install drivers...how am i supposed to switch to fixed mode?

It's ok, dv6 quad 6000 series is fixed mode only, you do not have to change anything in bios. Right click desktop. select Switchable Graphics (ccc) and selet high performance. If you don't see that option, you should uninstall current drivers, clean leftovers with Driver Sweeper and install the latest driver from hp.

Well I still crash with 11.11... I wish there was anything I could do... Playing with low settings, updating the drivers.. is there anything else I could try?

The reason BF3 crashes so often has to do with the game, not our graphics card. Certain drivers do seem to help the crashes somewhat but ultimately, its the game. If you look on the battlelog forums of BF3, you can see many many MANY people experiencing the same thing, of course we're all infuriated by it but EA doesn't seem to make a statement about it. For now...all we can do is wait and hope for a patch to fix all this while using the 'most' stable driver that you can find.

For me that is HP 8.882, I get crashes maybe every hour or two. I've heard and seen people playing without crashes with the same card on various drivers so...in my opinion, you're better off finding by trying all the different drivers and choosing the most stable one.

    Good luck!

I guess you are right. I do not only crash when playing BF3 though, I have crashed while using photoshop or sony vegas aswell. It does not happen so often, but it has happened. That's mainly the reason why I think it's my graphics card, although I can't remember if I played BF3 before using any of those programs.
But anyway, hopefully a really stable driver comes out soon.

Hey guys happy new year!.. I do have a question or request rather. Could a few of you post your video settings that you are using to play bf3, I find that using ultra graphics along with mesh and terrain quality works with medium shadows, AA off and I forget the rest, It looks ok to me running about 30 fps, I ask only because I would like obviously more fps for more smoothness but also retaining the quality, I run it on 1366 x 760? on 1920x1080 is just unplayable

I installed HP latest drivers as AMD 11.12 is not supported for this gpu. I oc'd to 800/900mhz using MSI afterburner just to see what performance I could get out of it, I am now getting around 40fps, with ultra settings, aa off, ssao, LOW shadow detail, that's the big difference shadow quality takes a BIG toll on your fps, 1366x768 looks amazing to me and I've only had a couple problems when loading a map but i think that's just a bug in the game, i think i do have post aa processing to high to soften the image, cheers

    BF3 keeps crashing for me.
It's so annoying, but the only way to stop it happening all the time is by turning on Morpholigical Filtering in CCC which makes it look different and kills performance. I can play on High-Ultra even without and with MAA only low or medium. Anyone have a solution I am using 12.1 and although they all claim they fix terrain fragmentation and glitches none do...
    This is so freaking annoying.

    SP55092, the 8.88 driver.

If that's the driver you get an error with...I don't really know what to say because HP drivers are the only ones that I did NOT have problems with. Maybe try doing a clean swipe of all driver traces? Maybe your previous attempts at trying to install new drivers are messing with the installation.

I am also having the same issue, i cannot find an updated driver that will play BF3 on my hp laptop with the 6770m.

The only one that works is HPs pos outdated driver 11.8.

If anyone can give advice it would be much appreciated.

I really wish HP would get off their lazy asses and start updating their hardware drivers.

Use driver sweeper and delete the driver. Then install hp's latest driver. Dont try to install it over 12.1.

Ok used driver sweeper to remove any traces of old drivers, installed HPs latest ones from their site, check the stability and played some games and it was fine.

So then i went ahead and installed the 11.12 WHQL driver over the top(didn't delete HPs drivers)but still ended up with the same outcome, cant get through 5 mins of battlefield 3 without it crashing, also random crashes on other games... not stable. :(

Every driver that ive tried that is not from HP is unstable, im starting to think that they have done something with the hardware so it will only run the driver after they have played around with them and released them... it sucks.

For me anyway i don't know about others but the latest and only stable driver that works for me is the 11.8 from HP.

BTW im using a HP Pavilion DV6-6023TX with a ATI 6770M GPU

If i had of known before hand that i wouldn't be able to keep the drivers upto date, and had to rely on HPs poor service, i never would have forked out $800 bucks.

I tried with 11.9 drivers and it does not crash anymore. However, performance is about 15% slower... In Vantage graphics test with 11.9 drivers scores about 5300 points, 800 points lower than 11.11 drivers...

first of all hello to everyone!
Can anyone confirm what version of driver is availble on hp website ?
the thing is i downloaded some time ago a pack for switchable graphics from their site and it says i got AMD (8.882.2.3-110930a-126477C-HP) and INTEL (8.15.10.2476) while the pack i got them from was named SP55092.exe (Effective date october 27, 2011) and as i see now they removed it from the listing on hp website ??? , and btw - my PC (dv6 6030ew) crashes randomly while playing BF3 at medium/low mix of settings... i can't even go ctrl+alt+del, the whole pc hangs and i can only hard reset it. Sometimes while having photoshop running i got this GPU reset or whatever u call it (Display Driver Stopped Responding and has recovered). So i've been searching for this 11.9 driver but can't find it. any help please ?

For my hp dv6t 6c000, i dont see any option for any amd/ati driver download in the driver section, only 1 for intel graphic card.

Anyone know why it is missing, or where i can find the drivers for AMD/ATI 7690M XT graphic card under the driver section on the HP website?

Hello everybody. So yesterday amd released their final version of catalyst 12.1. And it works perfectly in Battlefield 3 during multiplayer gameplay, but problem is the only, game freezes after 5 minutes of play. Performance is excellent, but driver isnt stable, which is sooo annoying :( HP latest driver is the most stable, pity that amd wont make stable driver like HP did

DOX has released a modded version of driver 11.12 with iGPU compatbillity, which allows it to be used with the HP Pavilion DV6 6130. (AMD Radeon HD 6770m + Intel HD 2000). (If you try to download the driver straight from ATI / AMD, it tells you that it doesent find any compatible card with your system. This driver bypasses that. FOLLOW THE GUIDE INCLUDED!!!)

    Check out this thread on how to install it;

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...-modded-11-12-drivers-igpu-compatibility.html

I have currently installed this driver on my Pavilion DV6, it works like an charm (in windows test-mode though), i am going to try BF3 in an hour or so (installing it now.)

    My bad.

Does anyone know how to solve the problem with having really bad FPS in game? Im having 7 fps ingame, i have chosen that BF3 should run under "high performance" in the "configure switchable graphics" list..

    Does anyone have a solution?

    Running HP pavilion DV6 6130.

Scratch that, the BIOS update fixed it.

can you guys please post your resolution and video settings to compare.. I've been running simply everything low and no AA, 2x and no SSAO and I'm getting like about 40-50 fps on 1400x900 resolution, I can run it on medium but the fps drop to 30-35, I like my game to be SMOOOOOTTHH, just wondering if anyone else has another combination that does not sacrifice graphics as much but also looks smooth.

^ make a file names user.cfg in the same folder as bf3.exe and put the following line in it:
    WorldRender.DxDeferredCsPathEnable 0
it gives your game a healthy boost (~ 7-10 fps) with no apparent change in the image quality.

I believe I've already done that but I will double check later tonight, what settings do you use to play, btw my computer specs are

    i7 - 2720qm 3.3Ghz
    8Gb Ram
playing at 1400x900 don't know if that helps, I know it has to be the gpu bottlenecking bf3, I wish I had known about computers as I do now, either way I'll be looking to purchase a top of the line desktop tower in about a year and a half or 2 years, I'm getting myself a beast then but for now this laptop, I want to squeeze everything it has and right now I want more

also what is the best drivers for this gpu, I'm currently running stock updated HP drivers, I've read about the 11.5 drivers being the best but can anyone confirm?

well, my laptop specs are in my signature. i have overclocked my GPU (6630m, same core as 6770m) from 485MHz/800MHz/900mV to 725MHz/945MHz/904mV and play Battlefield 3 @ 1366x768 with a mix of MEDIUM and HIGH settings, MSAA off, FXAA on, AO off along with the aforementioned command in user.cfg. i get about 40-45fps in multiplayer maps on average.

as for drivers, i'm using SONY stock drivers which i believe are based on 11.6 drivers (although the CCC version shows 11.8, so i guess it's a mix of the two made by SONY). they're very stable for my system and my overclocks. they're not, however, the most up-to-date SONY drivers, but the latest ones are completely unstable and crash after 5 minutes of game play, so i had to revert back to the older ones.

i suggest you check Guru3D AMD drivers forum.

as the post above me states you should try the guys settings obly hes wrong. its not really the same card with lower clocks. its like having a ferrari vs a ferrari with a turbo button because the 6770m is gddr5 vs ddr3 so the power is it is fast so you should have better settings.
i had the sony sa with 6630m and at 900p got very nice gameplay. i had it all on high. you might wanna sacrifice putting shadows on low. they are not blocky and as long as you see them whats the big deal. plus as you no shadows takes huge hit on fps on game. plus MSAA on takes a huge hit on for amd cards unlike nvidia. i read this on a toms hardware compariosn somewhere where amd had to turn it off to keep up.

anyway the card is a top end medium range card as opposed to a low high end card so really you are asking to much to want to keep 40-50fps with all the settings. lower the res. if you dont like that which is understandable. just keep it at 900p put textures on high etc and turn other thing u got high low which is not noticebale plus if 900p is your native screen you dont need AA on even if native is 1080p. it will be sharp enough at that res because it looks smaller.

i know but it still wouldnt run like the 6770m matching its clock speeds. theres more bandwidth and power. max we could push a 6630m is to between 6730m and 6750m but NOT same as 6750m
