After a LOOOONNNGG hard and tedious process last night, I was finally able to downgrade my drivers back to the 11.7 drivers. as many people had stated these are the best drivers for gaming. With these drivers I am able to OC my GPU to 850/1050 with 1.055v, I messed around with the settings on single player to do just an eye comparison and I was very pleased with the results. First of I'll say I have a user.cfg file I found to increase performance for bf3, PM me If you would like it.

I was running first 1440x900, textures - ultra, mesh - high, shadow- low, AA - off, motion blur - off, fps ~30fps

    1440x900 textures - medium, mesh - medium, shadow - low, AA - off, ~35fps

1440x900 textures - low, mesh - medium, terrain - medium, shadow - low, effects - low, AA - off, ~40-45fps

any resolution below that with AA off, motion blur off and shadows to low I am able to get ~35fps easily

I've decided that textures - low, mesh - medium, terrain - medium, AA deferred - off, AA post - medium, shadows - low is the best at least for my setup in terms of visual quality and performance, I also have the FXAA version 1.2 visual injector mod to give bf3 a lot more color other than the greyish bluish crap EA put out, the game looks awesome and this is about as pretty as I will be able to run it while still having smooth fps. It is worth noting that going up a ladder makes fps go up to about 60 and running out from a dark building will drop fps to about 25 quickly recovering to the steady 30-40 range. I will try to post a video on my youtube as well as some pictures later tonight. 1440x900 is the best resolution I think, 1366x768 after playing on 900P just looks too NOT HD lol

Thank you Sarusake. Are those drivers supposed to be installed on a clean system, or on top of the HP-one?
Also, does anyone have a fast mirror for the HP.ones? I'm downloading it at 40kb/s

    Muchly appriciate the support :)

aw man when everything seems to be going just fine, I turn on bf3 this morning and this POS goes to crap, I cannot get more than 30 fps on low!! im pissed right now, I reverted to latest HP drivers as well as 12.3 RC drivers and set my oc to 800/900 and the most im getting is 35fps in shadowed areas, I want my smoothness back :( auto settings on bf3 says I should be running on the game mostly on high settings, yeah right

^ What is your spec? Auto or Manual switchable method?
Use Afterburner OSD and check your GPU usage, Core clock and Memory clock.

I fixed it, I have my laptop connected to the tv via HDMI and for some reason I had the image to be doubled with the tv and the laptop screen so the gpu was doing twice the work which really was the problem, I'm now back to 35ish fps which is I think the most out of this one, I also updated back to newest hp drivers and installed 12.3 RC drivers from guru 3D, its all good now.

to the earlier post who posted the beta drivers, those drivers are AMAZING, I'm getting about 70 fps on low settings 1440 x 900 resolution however they are not stable, I get constant gpu driver crashes while playing bf3, great drivers just not stable enough, wish they were though.

    link to those drivers please?

I've tried the newest ones from 3dguru, including the beta posted here while they all are amazing performance wise, my computer crashes unexpectedly with no errors and then I have to manually kill bf3.exe from task manager, unfortunate since those drivers really show what the radeon gpus are capable of, but yeah any help would be appreciated, just on a side note playing at 70fps vs 40 fps really does make a difference :(

I think it might be an issue with bf3 itself, I just reverted back to stock hp drivers and got a crash about an hour into playing, this is getting frustrating.

am not even going to get started on what I have tried to get this game working, i could write a story, all in all in the end I went back to stock HP drivers and I can play anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours max, if its a good day .. there is no solution to this matter yet ...

Hopefully they patch it up between ATI and EA and get a fix so the code plays nice with each other .. till then this is the way we have to deal with it.

yeah agree, I remember hearing something like that on another forum, sucks yeah but even with stock HP drivers I'm getting constant 40-45fps so its not too bad but there is always room for improvement.

I stayed with the lasted HP drivers for the 6770 because they were the most stable ones. I crashed every once a week so it wasn't a big deal... I have absolutely NO IDEA what happened that now I crash on every. single. game. It's supper annoying and frustrating... BF3 is pretty much the only game I enjoy and I can't play it.... It just suddenly started crashing like crazy...

I wish they'd fix this issue... I don't even know if they are actually trying to fix it or if it ever will get fixed... The worst part is, I got this laptop just to be able to play BF3 (my pc sucks and I have no money plus I needed a laptop for college)...

Only thing i can say to try is, turning off sound enhancements ie bass boost, lower all settings to lowest in BF3, including ambient inclusion, or whatever its called .. maybe turn the resolution down a setting, no overclocking on the video card .. repair battlefield 3, run sfc /scannow let that finnish reboot .. thats all i can offer as to how to get it running ..

Ok I had problems too and have to keep checking this thread for answers. I was on stock and had 11.10 or 11.09. Then I recently updated to 12 or something and I would get constantly crashes within 5mins of joining a game. Then I read here go back to stock so I uninstall ati and used driver sweeper and return to stock drivers for my laptop. It worked fully for a day no crashes and next day it would get constant crashes after 5mins of driving. Then I read here again to try the beta drivers 12.1 January or something. It works. No crashes.
However how do fix CCC like after I install on top of HP stock it never opens. There was file from the installation where you right click and repair and it works again.

those drivers don't work at all, I tried them out, freezes and makes the sound quirky, CCC was working though ... actually I just bought a turtle beach headset with its own USB sound built in, my frames are so much better now in BF3 I can actually turn on AA to low and its still smooth .. sound doesn't loop anyore or nor does the weapons have any missing sound when you shoot them ..

I had to start using another monitor so i could play BF3. It worked great, until I freaking crashed.... I wasn't even using my laptops monitor! Plus I use a cooling pad so it couldn't have been the heat...

    This gets even more frustrating...

when u reinstall drivers you must wipe everything ccc and drive sweeper but I still cant get CCC to show up or open but BF3 runs perfectly fine no crashes. It crashes but not as often like the other drivers.

Regarding CCC won't open, find ccc-core-static.msi, right click and select repair.

If it doesn't work also.. try uninstall them with a combination of Atiman Uninstaller + DriverSweeper with filter for Intel HD drivers.

hi guys, quick question - which 12 series driver has worked successfully for you:

ive been using the 8.882 (11.9) stock hp drivers successfully , then tried the 12.x 8.960 beta Feb 28 from guru 3d which caused frequent bf3 crashes.

So I had to uninstall the drivers , use driver sweeper, then reboot and reinstall stock hp drivers.. all stable again now..

question to you guys, which 12 series drivers have run stable (no crashing) for you?

Note that I run BF3 on Lowest settings to test stability - and the 12.x 8.960 feb 28 drivers still made me crash every 2-5 min! (performance was real nice tho)

    thanks!

if you don't have instability issues with a driver, just stick to it. why do you want to change to something more unstable?

    hi jim and all,

someone else with same set up (6770m and switchable) at guru 3d said hes had success using 8.951.1 - link

    AMD Catalyst 12.x (8.951.1 March 3rd) Win V/7/8 Unofficial BETA - Guru3D.com Forums

just update the display driver only when installing over hp official drivers
The guy also said the 12 series AMD official drivers have caused crashes for him so far, but the unofficial one above works pretty much good for him

I'll be giving these a try myself tonight and will post on results!

ive upgraded to that driver...it works fine...i was a bit disappointed as i upgraded from stock hp driver 8.882 (11.9) and was hoping to see better 3d mark vantage results...i was getting around 5800 gpu score on stock hp and now im getting around 5950 on eshcat's 12.2 UnifL UP5 .....can anyone tell me what could possibly be the reason for such low scores?...

i havent checked battlefield 3 but the comments on his blog say that its working fine

Hej! i tried those leschat last drivers but no success :/ i can not even install drivers, computer says INF file not found, anyone knows solution for this? I tried to install it on top of HP drivers to keep switchable function, should i try to uninstall old drivers first?...i have dv6-6006em with hd6770m 1GB ddr5 on board, and have latest drivers for this model of laptop 8.83.6.2...BF 3 is stable running on those drivers but i would really like to know what my GPU is capable off :/ i need new drivers so badly...any sugestions because my drivers are very old and can play BF3 mostly on medium AA off, AA post off, HSAO...i get only 25-40 fps on most maps and i am sure that new drivers would help a little bit. Thanks!

Don't sweat over 3DMark score. I get P6850.. alot lower than any 12.x driver for Vantage but the driver perform very good in all games i'm playing (Dota2, rFactor2, ME3, Arkham City, DOW:Chaos Rising, Skyrim and Anno2070).
INF not found? That is weird. Do check Leshcat's FAQs page for proper driver removal and installation. Alternative way, Atiman + DriverSweeper + Cmd prompt.

    hey guys,

    update on my UP5 story:

reason why it kept crashing in bf3 was coz i was silly and didnt tick the HP patch option during install.

I clean uninstalled my HP drivers according ot his FAQ, and during reinstall ticked the HP patch option, and ever since BF3 has been running perfect!

played 1.5 hours perfectly stable, then had to go to bed =) im so happy haha.

so yeah, his UP5 drivers work perfect. if you have hp make sure u tick the HP option during install. and yes, if u get inf cant be found/installed message, you need to do the full clean up as per his FAQ.
