Today I flashed the f.51 bios with the 675/1350/450 settings - no problem at all. I wonder if we would ever be able to go past those frequencies... :)

Hey, good to see your still helping folks with their 8400/8600M GS overclock issues. Mine has been stable ever since I oc'd it and I have no complaints.

    I'm now looking into oc'ing my Clevo 901C 8800 GTX ☺

Quick question: For those of you with the HP DV9700 and the 512M 8600M Card, what is your average temperature?

I've noticed that with the new F.53 since the CPU speed doesn't seem to throttle back like with F.51 and the slightly higher O/C of the card my temp is now averaging around 60C. Just not sure if this is something to be alarmed about :)

I have DV9790 with HP Nvidia 8600M GS 512, F53 BIOS, with clocks set to 675/1350/450 and I have an average of between 60 to 65, sometimes 70c in warm weather running a full 3D game on high settings. All perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. The shutdown in HP BIOS is set to 115c for video card (Although I wouldn t like or recommend that high to go to)

cheers johnksss, worked a treat with HP 8600M GS,

Here is the link to the new drivers 175.63
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=18537

A note for HP Nvidia Notebooks Vista Users only,
if you use XP I am afraid you have to mod your own inf

you need to copy this inf into install directory overwrihting the one already in there, otherwise new drivers will not install. once done then run the setup.exe as normal

I have added to enable install on HP Nvidia cards below

    "NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150"
    NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 "
    "NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 "
    "NVIDIA GeForce Go 6100"
    "NVIDIA GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M"
    "NVIDIA GeForce 7000M / nForce 610M"
    "NVIDIA GeForce Go 7200"
    "NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300"
    "NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400"
    "NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 "
    "NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600"
    "NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 "
    "NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS"
    "NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS "

Will it work for the 8800 GTX?

Also, I have no idea how to mod the Clevo 901C....as that is my notebook
    with the 8800 GTX.

It is a nice computer, scores over 8800 3DMarks06 and 5.4 WEI

Download and give it a go. :) Obviously you don t need my modded inf, as you don t have HP, just download the updated drivers. The inf already in the install directory is the same as mine except I hav just added the HP Video cards to it

Just downloaded the nvidia 175.63 drivers and... must say I am pretty impressed. They gave me additional 170 3dmarks. Now it scores 3337 in 2006 3dmark (previously 3167). I have Nvidia 8600gs set at 675/450/1350. But still, I think Vista's WEI is pretty low, 5.1...?

you should now test higher clocks with the 8600m gs card and see if you can push it farther. DO NOT FLASH IT!!! just use rivatuner and go from there. start by testing the memory clock first and see if you can get it past 450.... i haven't had a chance to test it but i will very soon.

In HP BIOS no overclocking 500/1000/400

and with software overclocking the ones you suggested 675/1350/450 :)

    UPdate.

Tried the new drivers with RIVATUNER and could not Software OVerclock, so it looks like I have to return to BIOS mod again.

I can't software OC with the 175.63 drivers. Rivatuner resets the slides when I try to OC. I had flashed these settings before: 675/450/1350. The drivers are very good but can't software OC.

    Hi there,
This is my first post. This guide worked well for me, but i'm stuck with ForceWare 174.32 that i got from hp's website. Any attempt to install any other driver (including the ones from nvidia) results in this message: [IMG] . I have dv9500 with gs8600/256MB ram. Help.
    Thanks

And btw how's cpu overclocking going?

You got the message because the drivers you try to install do not support your hardware. This happens very often, since nVidia rarely makes new drivers for laptops, and there is a difference between drivers for desktop/laptop computers (eg. 8600gs and 8600M gs - M indicates mobile).

To solve this problem, go to: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showforum=93 , choose the driver you want, download it and unpack, download the 'modded inf", paste into the folder you have unpacked the drivers and install. Then you shouldn't have any problems. I am currently using the 175.63 driver for Vista x64 and must say they gave me another 170 3d marks 2006. :)

cpu over clocking not going over well as of yet.
and as for the new drivers, you cant over clock them, so you best bet is to drop back to 169.09. i think there is another set in there that will allow over clocking, but i have forgotten which drivers those are.

and you need to make sure your using the correct inf file else it wont install either....

    Hello!!!

I have an HP DV9535NR. With drivers 169.04 and software overclock using Rivatuner I achieve 650/475/1300.

I use this great guide and achieve 675/500/1350. :)

    Change in OPROM (GPU/MEM/SHADER):
    - 3D: 675/500/1350
    - Low 3D: 200/200/400
    - 2D: 133/100/266

    I used the BIOS F.53 + a OPROM F.23A. The notebook is 100% stable.
Thank you for the great tip. ;)

Now I am looking for a guide to change in BIOS the FSB to 800MHz and keep the memory at 667MHz and PCI-E at 100MHz. I appreciate any help.

I undervolt my processor using RMClock. With multiplier 9x, I use 1.100V. The default is 1.2125V.

    My configuration:
    Core 2 Duo T5250 1.5GHz
    Geforce 8600M GS 256MB
    Driver nVidia 175.70
    4GB DDR2 667MHz
    BIOS F.53 + OPROM F.23A
    Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit

    Excuse my English.

Had a weird thing happen yesterday....
I've been using the hacked F.53 Bios w/174.60 for the last few weeks (only have had the dv9700 for 5 weeks). Walked away from my desk for about an hour and when I came back, the screen was blank. At 1st, I thought it was stuck in hibernate mode but when I rebooted I realized the backlight was off. Numerous reboots did not help.

I then hooked it up to my LCD TV via HDMI so I could see my PC. I called HP support (which was great) and prepared to send the laptop back for repair. Figured I better reflash with the standard HP bios before sending it in and after the reflash, my backlight came back on!

Now it's been working fine. I'm not sure if this is just the start of a bad backlight or if the OC drew a bit too much current or what.

if you tried to flash that bios file once already, then you cant di it again. you have to extract another copy from the original then edit it again, then save it and then flash it.
