I read some where that the 158.45 is the best for the 8400GS, can anybody else confirm this as I would like to know as well.

Fedex guy just dropped it off. Two full days before the estimated delivery date. I am impressed.

Hmm well I dont think I am gonna do that- its actually a my girlfriends comp and she hasnt had one since middle january so I dont wanna run into any problems with the clean Vista install that would cause her to not be able to use it. Also - I will most likely uninstall all the programs that are bloatware and slowly clean up the comp that way.

    Ahh ok :)

    Awesome.

My dv2700 isn't going to be in stock until the 29th February

Although I have waited 10 days for it already so it's only another 10 or so :D

My only complaints so far are that the enter key feels a little loose (even has wiggle when you barely touch it) and the bigger complaint is that there's something that looks like a smudge on the inside of the LCD. It's close to the toolbar so it's not terribly noticeable, except I did notice it in the first five minutes of it being on!

It's not a dead or stuck pixel. It's grayish and definitely looks like a smudge. After having a dead pixel with an LCD going bad on the previous one, I think I can live with this one. Sure wish it had been perfect but I am loving the 1680x1050 res I was so concerned about!

    Vince22sh,

Did it delivered before the time it promised? Mine says 10:30am and if that is quiet accurate, I want to take a half day off and wait for it at home.

Mine was ordered on Feb 3 and was supposed to ship on Feb 15. I also keep reading these posts about them shipping early. The Chinese New Year delay is for sure. Anyone have any luck getting information out of HP on when they will ship ? The order status screen still shows shipping on the 15th.

kmet999 - what are the specs of the DV9700T you ordered? Feb. 3 is the same date I ordered mine (specs in sig) and I had a Feb. 15 build by date too, which is when mine shipped. I got it this A.M. and had the free shipping (not the 2 day).

kmet, my bad. I thought you had ordered a DV9700T.

jklman, I know what you mean about the fingerprint reader. I remember reading in another thread that some people were using verisoft in firefox. Here's the thread:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=213206

Haven't had a chance to give it a try yet.

So far, so good with my 9700t. I didn't have time to fool around too much...uninstalled a few programs via Ccleaner (will that be enough to get rid of the leftovers some programs leave behind?), made my recovery discs, downloaded Firefox. No fan noise problems. Screen looks great.

I uninstalled Works...but I saw Office 2007 on there. I didn't think it came pre-installed unless you ordered it, which I didn't. It does ask me for the product key, but if I close the key window, it doesn't close the program, and I can use it. Strange. I do have a product key I purchased separately, though, for a higher version from what is on there already.

There will always be somethings that programs can't pick up to clean unfortunately. The only true clean laptop comes from a fresh install, which is what I'll be doing as soon as I get mine, right after burning the recovery discs and SWSetup folder.

Ouch, thats one mighty whack on performance :D

After a clean install I usually get just under 35 processes running on Vista Home Premium, I think 30 is the lowest you can get with Vista fully functional.

Anything under 40 will give you very nearly maximum performance, as long as you don't have a memory hogging anti-virus installed like Norton ;)

Hey for those that got their laptops. My friend who ordered one got the media remote control included though he didn't pay. I on the other hand didn't get so lucky. What about everyone else here? Did anybody else get it included? It's the tiny remote control that fits into the express card slot.

My dv2700tse is showing a delivery of 2/22 after being shipped on 2/19. Not bad, I just hope there are no new delays.

Still being delivered within 7 days of promised ship date is not bad I guess. I think I/we ordered at a bad time with the New Year holiday going on. Can't wait for new toy to arrive for the weekend. Feel like a kid @ xmas.

Yep mine too. My laptop is in Shanghai, and status is "in transit". Maybe both of ours are in the same shipment. I actually liked the expected shipping date since I don't think I'm going to sleep on Friday; Going to play with it till the wee hours.

My laptop is probably flying across the Pacific Ocean right now :D

i put a data cd in the drive and it would spin for 2 or 3 seconds and then it would freeze up the computer and the only way i could get it to reboot was to turn the computer completely off.

there was some other issues with the lag and some of the keys felt as though they were going to fall off already. i decided to just send it back and get a full refund and maybe buy a Ibm or Sager.

Same thing happened on the first one I had too eric. I told them about it and it's a shame it happened to you too. I have an "ENTER" key that I noticed right away was loose. Since this is the third one I've had to buy since Dec., I don't remember the other 2 having loose keys like this. *sigh*

jklman, oddly enough I was sitting here and noticed I had switched to battery power and didn't know what happened. Plug was in but not all the way. I would swear I had pushed that thing in all the way because it charged it, all I was doing was sitting here and it even had the blue light on. I fiddled with it and noticed the plug does feel loose like you were talking about but so does my other one so maybe mine is like it's supposed to be. I don't know.

I'll have to keep my eye on it. I am bugged that the jack is on the right side. My old laptop had the jack on the back so you didn't have this cord sticking out of the side.

rtrdogs. yes it is a shame that it happened but i guess it is good that i checked it out and made sure everything was in working order prior to the end of the return policy.

i dont get too worked up about it because i am getting a full refund but more than likely i will get a IBM t61 or Sager 2092 now. leaning towards the sager because of the upgraded specs and the warranty and from what i have been reading the build quality is solid. good luck with your "new" one.
