Hey Rchen if you don't mind using a money order my memory is still up for grabs. I'm selling for $155.00, that includes shipping and handling. If anyone is interested please email me. I just ordered a slew of hardware for my new desktop I'm assembling (AMD Athlon 64 4000+, Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe, Asus 6800 Ultra Extreme, 2GB PC3200 RAM, Raptor 74GB 10,000 RPM and a 21" Mitsubishi CRT. [
] SWEET!) and need the money bad. I probably would have been better off waiting until I sold my memory but oh well, my bad. Also if anyone is interested in a second notebook I have a HP ZV5220 up on Ebay starting price is $500.00. Sorry for all the shameless plugs.

I know that nobody will take me seriously because I can only accept money orders. I hate that paypal is the only way to do business anymore as I have tried to setup a paypal account before and failed. If someone seriously wants to buy it I have no problem with spending the $4.00 it'll cost to post it on Ebay. Also Shawn I take you calling me dishonest personally because who in their right mind would even think about buying this memory off of me now that you are questioning my intent. I was just trying to give someone on this board a deal because I had been getting some great info from reading posts about this laptop since page three.
P.S.
Shawn I'm not really as upset at you as my post may make it seem. I just really need to make some fast cash and I thought this might be the best method. -
I dont know if there is an answer to this question but is worth a try
anyway, does anyone know if there is a way to connect my dekstop pc to the laptop so that I can use the lcd for the desktop
did that make sense -
Maybe ... You could use Remote Desktop if you have a fast network... But games wouldn't work...

Since the RAM is alredy sold from both parties I will keep looking. I do agree though that there should be paypal or ebay for selling the RAM, not unless you can meet up somewhere and exchange the money for the RAM. [

This is off topic, but what program pre-installed on the x6000 makes the volume controls by the power button functional?
I have disabled all boot-up apps through the control panel and using msconfig in Start>Run, and was wondering which is responsible for the volume controls. Having said that though, I have never had the volume controls working - evn before disabling the apps. Also, I have tried the QuickLaunch Buttons application but to no effect.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, soooooo THAAAAANK YOOOOOOU!! (commentry-style) -
Hello Everyone....Made it to Iraq! I was in the airport in Frankfurt with a 5 hour lay-over so I decided to plug the lappy into a power outlet. After a 10 minute search for a power plug adapter we were up and running with, Saving Private Ryan. I had the sub titles on because the sound was kind of low, this other guy on the trip pulled out a pair of powered speakers...we plugged them in...before you knew it, we had 15 people huddled around the laptop watching the movie. EVERYONE loves this thing! I think HP is going to have like 20 more orders =) Anyway, hope everyone is doing alright...will check back later.

The port on the back of my X6000 isn't a normal S-Video port. Does anyone know what type of connector that is and where to buy the cable to turn it into a S-Video port?

Hey everyone.
I'm new to notebookreview but I have been researching notebooks for a long time now. I will be entering college in the fall and I narrowed my choices down to the HP ZD8000 and Compaq X6000. The past couple of months I was leaning towards the X6000 because of the significant price difference, however, now it seems as though as ZD 8000 with the same specs is close to that of the X6000. Has anyone else noticed this? If this is the case, which notebook do you suggest?
I also have some other questions:
What is the difference between Pentium 4 530 and Pentium 4 630, both 3.0 GHz ?
Is there a big difference between the 1440x900 and 1680x1050 BrightView Screens?
What warranty is the best deal?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes, you should have it by the end of the week, took 4 days from the time mine was shipped till I got it. It goes from China to the Phillipines to Anchorage AK and then mine at least went to Indianapolis IN and then to me.

From what I can tell about the difference in the processors is this. The 6xx series is a 64 bit processor so for future use it may come in handy. It is suppose to consume less power because when it's not being used it kinda drops it's speed down to consume less power thereby extending the battery life. If I'm not mistaken the 6xx processors have twice the L2 Cache also?

I ordered my X6000 a week ago, shipped moday. The delivery date keeps changing. First it was Wednesday, then Friday, Saturday, and now Wednesday (tomorrow) again. However seeing as how it is still (I hope) in arrival from the Philippines, I don't think it will get here by then. Just one question for you all, I don't know how you are getting these 7200RPM Hard Drives. The only option I had this past weekend was a 5200RPM drive, but that disappeared from the options by the time I ordered it. I ended up with a 4200RPM... and am a little envious of your 7200's.
Tomorrow is the posted day, we will see... -
Thank you for your recent notebook order. As part of the customization of your computer, you ordered a 60GB 7200RPM hard drive. Unfortunately we have experienced an unforeseen shortage of this component.
Currently we can offer you two options:
Downgrade to the 80GB 5400 RPM hard drive
-The order will have a 7 business day turn around time (estimated ship date) from the time you notify us
and we change the order.
-After your notebook ships, we will issue a 10% credit to your account
Cancel the current order and if you reorder a new notebook with a different configuration, we will offer you a 10% discount on your new purchase.
Called.... Now it will ship thursday ...Guess I will need to be ordering one of the 7200 drives with the 10% back...

Well.. I just ordered mine today. I'm not holding my breath, but from what I've read and seen, it's worth the wait...
- Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 520 w/HT Technology, 2.8GHz
- 17.0" WSXGA+ BrightView Wide Viewing (1680x1050)
- 256MB DDR2 SDRAM, 400MHz (1x256MB)
- 40 GB 4200 RPM Hard Drive
- LightScribe 8x DVD+/-RW & CD-RW Combo Drive
- 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) X600
- 54g(TM) 802.11b/g WLAN w/ 125HSM/SpeedBooster(TM)
I ordered mine with ony 256MB RAM & 40Gig HD. My intent was to just get the cheapest of each and use the few $ I save to put into the 256MB x600 card, and then turn around and upgrade the HD and RAM myself using non-stock (there I go again with the car talk...) parts. I just wanted to be sure... but I can replace the 256 stick with a least 1 Gig later on right? I would also assume the same is true for the HD. I chose the 40Gig bec it was the cheapest. I can replace that with a 60Gig 7200rpm HD later on right?
Another question I had... the 2.8GHz processor, will that kill me? Should I have gone with the 3.0 or higher? I was thinking that the cpu would prob not be the bottleneck here. If anything the memory and/or vid card would hinder me. If anything, maybe like everything else, I can upgrade that also? Any input?
I'm mostly into gaming (WoW,CS/DoD,CoH,SWG,UO are some of the games I've played or still play). I can't see spending $3k+ for a 'pretty' Alienware when I can get good results from a $1500 Compaq and the fact that it happens to look pretty anyway is just an added plus.
Anyway...thanks in advance for the input guys!

Is this a worthy drive to swap my 4200RPM out with once it arrives?

I would have gone for the 6xx series 3.0 processor myself. If it saves the battery at all it's worth spending the few dollars more. It also does outperform the 5xx series chips while gaming but not by much. The advantage is that it has the 64bit instruction set that will be utilized in the future. I'll probably replace my 5xx chip with the 6xx chip but I'll wait a year or so when the price comes down and they come out with faster ones.

am i to understand HT only works if you have 2 sticks of ram. i think i remember reading that. Someone had also raised the question if HT worked
if using XP home. I'm trying to justify $69 upgrade for pro. anyone anyone -
thanks man. i'm just a regular user (computer)it took me awhile to figure I was on a notebook gamers delight kinda site. maybe not the best place for me to get my info. do i really need 533mhz ram, 128 or 256 bit vid cards. at first i thought so. not anymore. xp pro? i don't think so the crapper I'm running now is 6yrs old. anything I get is gonna blow this thing away.

I'm trying to upgrade the RAM in my X6000. I'm wondering if I need to use 2 sticks of the same size? I have 2 256 sticks (400mhz) now...what if I buy 1 1-gig stick and leave one of the 256s in? Will terrible things happen? Another question, is there a noticeable difference in performance by using 1 1-gig stick rather than 2 512s?
