    DV4000 w/ x700 Delay

    When I ordered my last macine from HP they were ahead of the projected date of shipping by a few days. I've heard that same experience from others who have purchased machines directly form HP lately. Never noticed that they shortened the projected shipping time on the HP Shopping page however. I wonder if demand is lower than expected, if they've put more production resources on the Dv4000s or....

    I think what Dave_SC was getting at, and what I've since confirmed by visiting the HP site myself, is that when many of us ordered last week the projected build/ship date was exactly two weeks. Now, if you visit the site today and config a dv4000 it shows the build/ship date as only 8 days.

    Regardless of their reasoning, this can only be interpretted as a positive sign for those of us who have already ordered.....looks like we'll be seeing our new lappy even earlier than we might have expected (even factoring in that HP typically got you your product ahead of their projected date).

    Yeah, I got. I was just floating an obiviously lame joke about time shifting... like, each day check the build date will get closer until it's behind us in time.... when one has to explain a joke one should re-examine his material! (-:

    If I were a betting man(and I am), I would bet that those of us that ordered before noon EST last Thurs will be receiving our new dv4000's on Monday Oct. 10th.

    Sometimes you have to roll the hard six!

    Great buy on external hard drives at Curcuit City. I just bought a Western Digital 120 Gig external (to back up my new Dv4000) for $129.00 with $60.00 in rebates. So, net 70 bucks for a good external 120... thought others might be interested. Got to buy it by Oct. 8. Got mine online with in store pick up.

    I'm anxiously waiting for it. I ordered on the 29th, with an estimated ship date of 10/13. If you configure one today, however, the estimated ship date is 10/14.

    I still don't understand why a unit bought on the 3rd would have a ship date of the 11th when the ones bought on the 29th had a ship date of the 13th....I'm hoping mine goes out by the 11th....maybe the 10th, I expect they don't don't celebrate Columbus Day in Mexico (where mine is being built).

    I asked when I bought the machine. The last machine I bought from HP was built in China... this seems to be a piece of information that the sales reps have available, in both cases they could tell me without going away to ask someone or research the question.

    hmmmm...now Fedex has the estimated delivery as 10/14. That doesn't make any sense. I paid extra $$ for 2-day delivery. ugh!

    I find I posted inaccurate information. After reading:

    Shipped from Kunshan China on Fri.
    Est. delivery to SC Oct. 14th
    I called HP again and the sales rep I spoke with corrected what the earlier rep had told me... the one I ordered is being built in China as well. My apologies to anyone who was mis-lead by my earlier posting.
