Mine shipped as well. I have updated the thread here:
http://www.dv4000talk.com/viewtopic.php?p=4
Would appreciate anyone else do the same. Also, those who have received it would be encoruraged to post pics, info, etc in the dv4000talk forums. I'll be adding pics of hard drive, ram upgrades as soon as I get mine. -
Just spoke with FedEx...got dreary news. According to FedEx, HP has chosen a shipping option that will allow our computers to sit in China until there is "space available on an aircraft". FedEx could/would not even say when the package can be expected to move on. Incidentally, FedEx could not have sounded more bored or disinterested about the inquiry. The next step in the journey could be today, tomorrow, who knows. I guess this is my own fault for not paying for expedited shipping, but it still sucks. Of course HP can truthfully say that they started the shipping process ahead of the projected date.... is it unrealistic that a customer expect that when shipping starts it will be an on going process?

Estimated delivery
Oct 17, 2005 12:00 PM
UGH its shipping IP so theoritically it should've been here today. -
Talked with HP sales today, they say the machines in question should leave China late this PM.... their time or ours I don't know.

Estimated Delivery
Oct 17, 2005 10:30AM
still at Shanghai -
Mine has not updated since early yesterday afternoon....it still saying "At local FedEx facility in Shanghai, CN".
This delay sucks! Nothing we can do about it I assume, 'cept grumble about it here -
I was annoyed enough to do what I should have done in the first place, I bit the bullet on the $250 deductable on my home owners and added a rider for the Dv4000 then canceled my 3 year accendental damage coverage with HP... not only did this petty act of defiance make me feel a lot better but I'll also save $305 over the three years (unless I have a claim, in which case it's pretty much a wash)

Howdy all...
Just to contribute, I ordered mine (w/128MB X700) on Oct 5, 2005 and yesterday (Oct 11th) it arrived in SHANGHAI CN. Original estimated ship date of Oct 13th. I can't wait to this thing into action.
Togus: Where are you living in Maine? I grew up in Wells and attended the University of Maine from 1994-1999.
Later -
I'm in Augusta.
-
lol it's SO not fair. all these people who ordered in October are going to get their laptops at the same time as us who bothered to rush and order on Sept 29...sigh...
mine is still held up in SHANGHAI CN too. d@mn fedex. -
FedEx says it's not their fault, they maintain that HP has chosen a shipping option that puts machines on aircraft on a "space available" basis...sounds a bit like flying standby... I guess that's what you get when you opt for "free shipping"....OK, I'm tired of the high road, I'm 'issed too!
-
My dv4000 is stuck in China with everyone else's, but at least it looks like they found a plane for them (or at least mine) to come on because now on the FedEx screen there is at an estimated delivery time:
Oct 17, 2005 10:30 AM
I'm in Berkeley, so I suppose it will be even later for people who live farther away? I don't know how their shipping policy works. -
Oct 11, 2005 11:30 PM At local FedEx facility SHANGHAI CN -
Mine doesn't even HAVE an estimated ship date. so much for ordering early.
-
To be delivered to Fishers, IN.
Est. Delivery date: Oct 17, 2005 10:30 AM.
Still stuck in Shanghai. -
Bad thing is I had mine delivered to Pelham, AL so I could avoid paying tax on it. SO I have to drive there to get it. Its coming on a Monday so I may not be able to get it until Friday. OR I can just miss school Monday...
-
just skip school man, what could be more important than your brand new dv4000? =P
you can probably expect to skip everything until friday as well if you do go pick it up.=P -
Hah I'd do the same thing I did with my Powerbook.... take it in class and not pay attention.. -
I just realized that FedEx shipments that are coming from china (at least this ALWAYS applies to me) arrives a day earlier than stated. I called and they confirmed it left China and will be there Friday!! YAY!!
-
Mine is slated to arrive on 10/17 -- I guess it can't be "a day early" unless it arrives on Friday.
-
Oct 12, 2005 2:54 PM Departed FedEx location ANCHORAGE, AK
I'm getting tired of obsessing over this. -
Mine also has finally updated with the same info...."Achorage, AK departure"....
But it goes on to say that the expected delivery date is 10/17/05. I didn't realize FedEx was going to WALK it all the way to Michigan
I'd guess that those of us with this message will be seeing them before the weekend.....hopefully! -
Hell yeah mine is in that shipment as well.
2:54 PM Departed FedEx location ANCHORAGE, AK -
-
So.... Maine.... I'm thinkin' Monday, maybe. Depend on how many more full days are spent on loading docks
-
Oct 12, 2005 2:54 PM Departed FedEx location ANCHORAGE, AK
I guess we'll see how long it takes to get to Texas. Hopefully before the scheduled Oct 17th date.
I'd love to have it on Friday so I can reformat with XP Pro and configure it over the weekend. My extra memory (1GB Kingston value) has already arrived. -
Someone please hurry and post a review of the DV4000 with the X700! I'm really anxious to see how well this video card is
-
Mine has also departed Anchorage AK at 2:54 PM. My delivery date is still 10/17 at 10:30AM. I'm in Connecticut.

WTF is my laptop doin here? Did anyone elses stop here?
11:08 PM In transit INDIANAPOLIS, IN -
-
Although I don't know why it had to go across the country. Couldn't they have split up the shipment in Alaska according to the final destination of the computers?
-
strange. mine is still stuck in Anchorage as of now. and i live in Pittsburgh. hopefully we'll all get them by tomorrow morning...=)
this is bordering on obsessive guys. can't believe i've checked the shipments at least 10 times today. lol. -
oh, mine just arrived IN TRANSIT in INDIANAPOLIS, IN as well. says "Package Available for Clearance". according to my friend, they have a sort facility in IN, and from there the next stop should be the destination-->tomorrow!! yay!! =)
-
Mine came thru IN yesterday at 3am, it was delivered to SC at 9am.
So, I believe you will have yours today!!! :hp: -
I'm basically in Indianapolis (Fishers), where my laptop currently is, but they just told me I still won't get it until Monday.
And I can't go pick it up until there has been an attempted delivery. -
Just talked with FedEx. The shipment is being held up in customs, waiting for HP to produce some documentation, none of it will move until HP comes through with the needed paperwork. FedEx cannot predict how long it will take, this kind of delay is said to be totally dependent upon the Shipper's (HP's) performance in providing the necessary material.
-
So mine's sitting in Indianapolis, IN as well, and the only notation is "CLEARANCE DELAY."
Am I to assume that's the issue that HP needs to clear up before FedEx will resume shipping?
Figures!!!!
-
Is this similar to what everyone else is seeing?
12:22 AM In transit INDIANAPOLIS, IN Package available for clearance
1:55 AM Shipment exception INDIANAPOLIS, IN Regulatory agency clearance delay
3:40 AM Clearance delay INDIANAPOLIS, IN
3:40 AM Clearance delay INDIANAPOLIS, IN
3:51 AM Clearance delay INDIANAPOLIS, IN
3:51 AM Arrived at FedEx location INDIANAPOLIS, IN -
Arrived at FedEx location INDIANAPOLIS, IN -
-
Shouldn't have all the customs BS been taken care of when it entered the US?
-
Not necessarily. They could have gone through customs in Alaska, where they are now or in Memphis. Hopefully the people at HP will remove the digits from their neither regions and get this cleared up soon.
-
Same thing happened to mine. I wonder should someone call and complain to HP. -
One rep says thats just an error in their system.... idiot. I am on the phone with the 2nd rep as I type and he is looking into it.
-
Actually, we all should call them. Doesn't cost anything and it just could be that HP is one of those companies that actually respond to customer concerns.... I expect that they are trying to rectify the situation, but what could it hurt to call and express one's (polite) frustration?
-
2nd Rep says its just an error and it will clear itself up. Ugggh. NO Customer Service. They don't get the fact that even though it says "arrived at fedex location" just means it sitting there waiting....
