Maybe, this is the first positive news that its coming with GDDR5, but I did post an official spec from HP that clearly states a 750M with DDR3 a few pages back.
The word I got today was from a supplier that called HP, saying that my model will be GDDR5, when the guy called me back. Notebook is coming from China, the supplier have not received the shipment, basically meaning these notebooks are on order. My guess is they have not been manufactured due to the 2-3 week wait ETA.
Again, hard to say what the GPU memory will be until HP offer the 750M on their website with memory spec onsite, or when someone gets a 750M notebook with a 750M in there to confirm it.
Still need to take into account that it appears no 750M are around so could be either or DDR3 or GDDR5. I'm feeling optimistic about GDDR5 at this point.
HP are really bad at making mistakes and errors on their web pages.
All this speculation is killing me, I am getting impatient and just want my order.
HP cannot tell my supplier yet if my panel is FHD or not yet, its all pretty crazy!

So I had to send my hp envy 15 32xx back to hp to repair and its been about 3 weeks since I've sent it so hp offered me the envy touchsmart 15 with these specs:
Windows 8 64
4th generation Intel Core i7-4700MQ Processor
NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M Graphics with 2048MB of dedicated video memory
15.6-inch diagonal Full HD BrightView LED-backlit Display (1920x1080)
8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
1TB 5400RPM Hybrid Hard Drive
24GB mSSD Hard Drive Acceleration Cache
No Additional Office Software
$20 OFF Norton Internet Security(TM) - 2 Year Subscription (activation required)
6-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery
External Tray Super Multi 8X DVD+/-RW w/Double Layer
Backlit Keyboard
HP TrueVision HD Webcam w/ integrated digital mic
Is the 1080p screen any good compared to the last envy and is it a touchscreen?
Also can someone with the 740m make sure exactly what the bandwidth is on it? The 7750m on my last laptop was good for guild wars 2 which is a I needed it for and I don't play too often but would like to have the option anyway.
I'm trying to see if hp can continue to work on my repair while they ship this new one to me near the end of the month. -

I have seen the new ENVY 15-j 1080p screen, and sadly it looks washed out when compared to the ENVY DV6 1080p screen beside.
Also the specs for the GPU they are offering is slightly lower.

Can you explain the delay on the 750M? -
Hi,
Could someone help me out with understanding how the crippled GT 740m is going to perform?
I placed an order just a few days ago before reading that they cut the bus to 64-bit, 14GB/s. I had looked up the performance on http://www.notebookcheck.net but that would be the specs for the 128-bit. Is there something I can look up that would give me an idea on how it will perform at 64-bit.
Envy 15t-j000 select
3 rd gen i5-3230m
GT 740m
1920X1080 display
Backlit keyboard
$718 Shipped.
At most I will be using it for light gaming, if that and movies.
If the 750m is available soon is it worth say the extra $100-150 although I could probably do 90% of what I want with the 740m. Or did they cripple it so much that 90% is not a reasonable estimation?
Thanks. -
On the HP Page product page for the 15'6" model, the spec page says the thickness is about 1.2 inches but in the features section there is an icon called "Ultra Slim: Less than 1 inch"
-
Its rear end where the battery goes is definitely thick. To give you an idea, it uses the exact same battery as the 2012 Envy dv6/dv7. Basically this is where HP are misleading everyone.
The design of the laptop tappers down from fat at the back end, to thinner at the front.
No way I would call this laptop a "Ultra Slim", or HP should of called it as such. If it was similar to HP's Envy 4 and 6 model, then yeah that would be acceptable, but it isn't. -
Just bought the HP Envy 15z-j000 select edition with the best options possible, when I receive it I will go ahead and create a video review for it. Personally I enjoyed the 2012 model very much and feel like the newer model can't be that bad.

Retailer listing the Nvidia 750M spec with DDR3 memory
HP 15-J008TX 15.6" Ultrabook - Noel Leeming Online Shopping
750M with DDR3 expected performance.
The 750M with DDR3 does not look all that bad. After going through the many benchmarks on notebook check, and then looking at the 650M with DDR3 as a guideline, that the DDR3 version is about up to 33% slower than the GDDR5 version at most with a similar performing 3rd gen quad core. While this is and might be high, 33% appears to be the worse case scenario, with the difference being a lot less in other instances.
Bring in the newer 4th gen quad core and the slightly faster clocks of the 750M, should be a tad better than the below Asus examples.
Here is some positive reviews of the 650M with DDR3 which will be about the same as the 750M with DDR3, these examples are of notebook with i7-3630M and FHD 1920x1080.

Do you think this model would be bad to use for virtualization? I would also want to max the ram out. I like to get a powerful laptop that also has touch screen.
Thanks, I'd really appreciate some feedback.

Here is some pretty good news for the Envy 15-j series in regards to IPS panels, although is isolated to a single non-touch model.
Found there is a IPS panel with FHD avalable on the non-touch model, namely the HP ENVY 15-j063ei.
Personally I have seen and actually had a quick hands on with a touch model that is FHD, sadly this model did not come with IPS, just a regular TN panel is inside.

Makes me wonder if on the USA website using the CTO option, with the non-touch model with FHD option, you may get a IPS screen as default? -

Or should I just stay away from screen protectors as they may leave residue on the screen ? -
For all New Zealanders looking for the Envy 15-j touch screen option in FHD, there will be no Intel model with a FHD panel. There is only one model that has a FHD touch screen this is an AMD model 15-j002AX.
All models on following linked page are all HD or 1366 x 768 resolution, except that of the AMD model 15-j002AX HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j000 Notebook PC series | HP® New Zealand
I have gone through all the models, and used HP Parts Surfer to list each individual components, using the key part numbers e.g. E3A55PA, of all available New Zealand touch-smart models, including the not listed 15-j008TX model. All of which are listed with the display section as:
Part number: 720549-001 15.6 INCH DISPLAY HU HIGH DEFINITION BRIGHTVIEW TS
Part number: 720556-001 DISPLAY RAW PANEL HIGH DEFINITION BRIGHTVIEW
Only the AMD model 15-j002AX is listed with the following display parts:
Part number: 720550-001 15.6 INCH DISPLAY HU FHIGH DEFINITION BRIGHTVIEW TS
Part number: 720557-001 DISPLAY RAW PANEL FULL HIGH DEFINITION BRIGHTVIEW
About the HP Envy 15-j008TX
The last hope of a FHD Intel touch model was the 15-j008TX, as this was the seemly unknown model (in NZ), but this will not be the case and is 1366 x 768 resolution. It does however list with a i7-4702MQ processor using HP parts surfer, which could be of some consolation, as it is a lower power part with 37w TDP when compared to the 47w TDP i7-4700 (which stores currently listing it with a i7-4700MQ, may not be the correct). Also includes a single low voltage DDR3 memory module (which it appears that all new HP models are using low voltage modules). It is supplied with 120w power adapter and 62WHr battery. I have listed the motherboard model below as well, this should be common for all 750M models if there is only a single 750M option.

did any1 buy envy15? Id like to see some pics can someone post please
-
-
Put your hands up if any of you have ordered with a 1366 x 768 Standrard HD panel, and why?
-
wew are u sure thats the envy15?? looks so different and why isnt the battery detachable
-
Myself, I like the convenience of being able to have 2 things working side by side at once, and also the large screen area so I prefer 1920x1080. -
-
i think detachable battery is lot better dan internal coz if you game it alot at home the battery will wear out so fast because of the heat coming off from laptop. anyways post some pics when u recive it

I wonder when there will be some real coupons for these laptops. At this point I think I'm just going to get it and see how it performs. There's always the return policy if I don't like the 740M. Mainly though I want to make sure it fits in my backpack and that I like the build quality of it.
-
Thought it was a deal, I'm in the same boat as you about the return . -

I'm not a huge gamer, so the 740m will be just fine for me. I play the Assassins Creed and GTA type of games casually and I don't need the best gaming specs.
I also ordered another 8gb Ram stick off Amazon for $53, so having 16gb of memory should speed up my SQL queries
I'll try and post my thoughts/review once I receive it -
Is it coming from China or something? -

I looked up your model yesterday after I seen the 1366x786 panel and figured it must be a typo, don't think I have even seen a 17" laptop with such a small resolution for a HP. The model I presume you have on order, which is the 17-j004TX and is part number E3B20PA. Unfortunately I am almost certain this will be the gimped 740M (GK208 core). Even stranger is even I looked up the parts in this machine it show that the panel is just HD, unless that means 1600x900 also, does not state FHD. I doubt that at $2300 that it could possibly not have a FHD display. Pretty hard to determined exactly as it does not state 2x units of both the RAM and HDD parts.
You say you have already seen this model? Did they run out, or was it the Ivy Bridge you were looking at?
Pretty sure the 17-j004TX was only added recently. Should not be to far away, as the 740M models in the new HP Envy's have been in NZ store since the end of May.
You might want to pick this up instead, as it is an absolute bargain for NZ pricing for $1169. Better be quick before the special runs out though on Thursday. Inspiron 17R Special Edition Laptop i7-3630M with 650M 2GB GDDR5 and anti-glare 1080p

I may be wrong but it looks like HP has added some pre configured models to their US website. The ones where you can just "add to cart" and it ships almost immediately. I think (well I hope they're in the midst of updating all their products).
As much as I'm wanting to buy it right now with the 740M a part of me is wondering if i wait just 2-3 days will the 750M appear on their website. Then again I am still trying to see if it would truly benefit me in anyway.
When it comes to playing High Definition content on the 1080p screen.....bluray movies, high definition game trailers on websites like IGN or whatever what would you guys choose? The 740M or the 750M? -
Even the 4600 should do the trick with hd movies and stuff like that.
I don`t understand why there are no any reviews out yet for these new envy models, i like what i see i just wanna know if there is any problem with the trackpad/keyboard/etc, especially if it`s very loud. They were not released yet ? -
With the upgraded gfx card option, do these have the feature that turns them off to save power? I think they were calling it Optimus or something.
Also, I checked the 17t- model out in best buy (m7) and they were just putting them out. The screen is either IPS or has amazing viewing angles. Anyone know if they are using IPS panels in these? -

Not bad I don't think. If no one ends up buying the Samsung SSD that I'm selling I may as well use it in this laptop. And my local Best Buy did have the m7 but it unfortunately did not fit in my new backpack so I'm gonna get it and see how much I like the bigger screen and how heavy it is. If I really love it and can't see myself with the 15.6 I'm gonna get a messenger bag for the Envy 17. Much as I don't like the thought of carrying two bags it may end up being better as far as my back is concerned... -
Also will the 740m allow switchable graphics. Going to school so battery life is a big one for me right now. -

Any ideea if there will be a 750m option in the future for the new 15' envy ?
-
I'm interested in the Envy 15t-j000 Quad Edition, and while I was customizing it I saw that you could choose both the 1TB hybrid hard drive and the 24GB mSSD Hard Drive Acceleration Cache. I had read somewhere that having both a hybrid drive and acceleration cache could be conflicting, is there any truth to that? And would there be a visible improvement in speed with both the hybrid drive and cache?
Thanks in advance! -

So I tried to contact BB and HP regarding the screens in the m7-j010dx and 17t-j000 laptops but both support people were fairly incompetent. One gave me the part # for the m7 screen -- 720252-001 -- but I can't find anything on it so I am not sure what the deal is.

Went ahead and cancelled my order actually... waiting on on a laptop that offers Iris Pro Graphics 5200 or the 750m if it doesnt eat too much battery.
Weird that the PC industry is so slow getting these haswell models out :/
