Anyone who can't use their Intel HD 4000 by switchable graphics options please call 1-877-917-4380 Ex. 93 and report it. The more people that report it to this HP department the sooner we all will be able to utilize our integrated Intel graphics card and get our Wireless Display (WiDi) working and save our battery life. Just trying to help. Just got my Envy 17 3D 3200 today and cannot believe that HP has not come up with a fix. Good Luck Everyone

    1) USB ports and headphone jacks (make sure they are not crooked and work perfectly)
    2) How does the bottom shell meet the top shell? Does the bottom shell stick out or does it sit flush with the top shell?
    3) Do keys squeak, does the keyboard flex?
    4) Does the ODD retain dvds inside?
    5) Any dents?

    That's pretty much it :)

I can confirm that it does work. The Envy comes with a second SATA cable already installed though :).

I don't want to state a fact; However, just got off the phone with HP Concierge and was informed that HP has chosen not to support WiDi or the Integrated HD 4000 Intel graphics card on all HP Envy 17 3D models. This is really upsetting to me that I have to sacrifice 3D for the Intel HD 4000 Graphics Card and WiDi features.

Maybe it's a blessing in disguise. Going by the the 7970M, having Enduro working hurts that card's performance even when the integrated graphics isn't in use. Oviously it shouldn't do this, but AMD obviously screwed up somewhere.

If that is the case, you can save yourself $30 and use double sided tape (if you plan on installing an ssd). I switched out my hard drive with an ssd temporarily to confirm the sata speeds. When installing the ssd, I noticed that some good double sided tape would work quite well for a permanent install.

For those who don't know, I confirmed with my crucial m4 that the first hard drive port is sata iii and the second port is sata ii. I did not confirm the msata port but someone else in the forum said it was sata iii.

For gaming .. use the 7850m.. Your laptop should not over heat.

There is still hope on using the integrated power saving Intel 4000 HD graphics card. Please call HP's resolution department and demand a fix. 877-917-4380 extension 93
HP's engineers currently don't think it is important to fix for its customers; however, we need them to be forced to do their job apparently. Please pass this along across the internet and friends for everyone sake.
HP's engineers next major meeting is scheduled for Thursday June 28th concerning this issue, there is still time.
    Best Regards

I replied to you earlier how to do this. You go into the settings and set what card you want to run which programs. I think you might want to read up on your laptop a bit to help you understand it.

I updated to the F.06 bios and still have the same issue with the keyboard. Can anyone replicate the issue? Easy way to test is type the letters 'a s d f' quickly in a random order:

    sda6ffad6fasf6sa6fdsafdsafasd6fdsafdasfasd6f

Notice the number '6' that was introduced.

Regarding the build quality, there is a slight dent on mine in the front that makes it mis-aligned from the bottom. This is my 3rd Envy 17 in the past two months, and every single one has build quality problems. I wonder if anyone else has a defective drive like myself for the Envy 17 3200 series, as do other Envy 15 owners:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-envy-hdx/672438-envy-15-32xx-disc-will-not-eject.html

My case manager has agreed to send me a 4th Envy...crossing my fingers that won't have defects...

When I type fast also I get a 6 in there randomly, but why would you ever be typing those letters that fast anyways?

Can someone who has the HP envy 17 3200 Notebook. Please look at the bottom edge of the screen on both sides and tell me if it's normal for the screen to be sticking out. If you put your fingers on the bottom edge then you will be able to feel it.

These are all the sequences from the other forum. I do type rather quickly and first observed the numbers coming up 5-10x a day when chatting with friends. Rather annoying for a premium laptop for something as simple as a keyboard.

My Envy had a very small hardly noticeable dent in the lid when it arrived, however not enough to warrant sending it back and waiting for a new one. Other than that there is no keyboard ghosting, no bulging screen, no dented ports/speaker grill and the CD drive work beautifully.

It would take a lot for me to send it back. Personally I can't deal with having to use my wife's sandy bridge DV6 any more that thing gets so hot when gaming and watching videos that its unbearable.

Instead of typing, try mashing all the keys all at once over and over. That got mine to make the numbers. In normal use, I've never seen this become an issue.

I don't have that problem though, I never noticed on my other envy 17 so I don't know if that's how the bezel is... I just felt the whole bottom part of the screen above the speaker grille and now I confirmed I think that mines is just normal and that's how the bezel is supposed to sit.

no problems here with my 17t-3200 3D.....I actually was complaining about my battery life on mine, but to be truthfully honest, I don't feel it's that much of a problem anymore.

Everyone scared me into thinking it was "unusable" lol with those graphics, but it's much longer than my extended lenovo battery life.

I also enjoy the 3D and the quality of the screen. It would be a 100000 times better however if they could get the integrated graphics though, this would make it more "portable".

But let's all be honest though guys, this laptop itself is pretty big to be calling it a "portable" device. If you really wanted something portable then the 15" would be the one for you with the longer battery life.

Im still going to call up HP now and complain though.

Glad someone is reasonably happy with their Envy. Everyone here is seriously bumming me out! Dented cases, bulging USB sockets, mis-typing keyboards, sticking optical drives, irregular bezels, flawe cases, graphic card switching issues, etc. My own Envy is supposed to arrive tomorrow after a production delay and a shipment delay and the way people are talking it feels like there's a 98% chance it'll have issues and need to be returned! What a buzzkill! Unboxing your laptop is supposed to be a happy time.

WEI hasn't quite caught up with laptops with switchable graphics yet. Nothing to worry about, mine scores about the same. 3dmark scores are right where they should be.
Was that sarcasm? Your CPU is running a little warm. Mine doesn't get nearly that warm.

Same here. I ordered on the 4th. Orig ship date 6/13, then moved to 6/20 (told to me verbally by HP), then 6/26..... now, it's 7/7. Also recieved the 10% off email. Not happy at all, but the 10% off softens the latest disappointment.

On the bright side, it was a good decision to keep my expectations low, and not expecting it to be shipped today.

Probably a driver issue or BIOS issue. Uninstall them then reinstall them. My headphones wouldn't work at all but after I did those two (with help from HP support) it is fixed!

My computer seems to be damn perfect also, no dents or anything but I do get ghosting... Yet I don't seem to know why I would be smashing those keys at the same time in every day use. ^_^

I still can't get over Microsoft's arbitrary Windows Experience Index (WEI) numbering system... 1 to 7.9 in Windows 7??? 1 to 5.9 in Windows Vista??? and now 1 to 9.9 in Windows 8???

lol my envy is saying 6.7 for the gpu so yeah urs is prolly reading the 4000
lol its too keep up with tech and keep it at the same page
if they kept 5.9, then everything would have to be pushed back every time
much more coding :p. like last gen, the 580m would be like the top meaning 5.9 but this gen atm is 7970m so it would be 5.9 pushing the 580m back to 4.9

if they keep increasing, the 580m would stay 5.9 and the 7970m would be like 7.9

Now it's everything... Zune, Youtube etc all only play through my speakers... When i connect the headphones in either jack, the speakers mute as they should, but no sounds comes from the headphones. -_- Anyone else having this issue?

    EDIT:
I must add it was working just fine at the dentist office this afternoon. But now, nothing.
