Sorry you got what you expected ( delayed shipment again) but hopefully all of us still waiting will get solid builds. Someone posted that due to increased demand HP had to move to bigger build facilities. I purposefully waited awhile to let production run several days before ordering in hopes the manufacturing bugs would be worked out before my build. If they did move facilities we're in the same boat as the first shipments. I just hope it is a part shortage though, I added the hyb 750gb hd, blue ray, & wifi blu-t upgrade. Not much to hold up order.

    suckers HP...

I tried to change my order to the quickship due to the delay and they would not let me. Maybe I need a case manager...

anyway I got the 10% off on my order ordered on Jun 5th, delayed all the way to July 7th
    that sucks...

Yes my headphones didn't work when I plugged them in but the speakers muted as they should. Uninstall the BIOS and reinstall. I posted it earlier today, I went through HP support at 2am via chat and got it fixed.

Here is the link. Do it again, select "Yes to all" for the replace existing files. Then just click "Start" when it prompts and should go through the BIOS update. Should be fixed afterwards.

Eldaren, could you please tell me how much extra you paid to get the ready ship model?

My desktop is dying and I can't wait another 2 weeks to get mine.

My configured notebook happens to have the same specs as the Envy 3270nr and I originally paid $1,175.84 + 7% (tax) = $1258.5 for it. How much extra do you think is appropriate to get the 3270nr instead. Or I can get it without being charged? :D

    Your input is much appreciated!

I can say I'm part of the happy camp of owners, of course you'll get more unhappy people complaining than happy ones complimenting, it's just he nature of any forum dedicated to an item. I get ghosting as well but who mashes asdf all day?

Only issue I'm having is the fans seem funky, feels like one of them is off balance, can feel an odd vibration at regular intervals.

I also hope AMD gets out a software update so you have a list of programs and you can make sure the settings stay and are correct. Maybe allow an option to have all programs under a certain folder to inherit the settings as well.

My quick ship 3270nr seems to be running pretty well. I switched the hard drive as storage and installed a SSD, so that's going well so far. Still have lots of setting up to do though. Can anyone recommend a good intel wireless adapter and docking station?

anyone get the 3290nr 3d quickship? it lists it as having switchable graphics.... the 3200 3d does not...weird... other than the graphics not switching, this laptop is perfect.

    "lokasenna"
People such as myself are not unhappy with the Envy 17 3D 3200 model, we are unhappy with false advertising/features Intel's 3rd Gen. i7 processors have that are supposed to work, example: Wireless Display, Intel HD 4000 integrated graphics/50% battery saver, that we paid for and cannot utilize. I as a customer am trying to make aware whom to contact and what problems exist so that we as owners can have them addressed and fixed before HP moves on to their next model.

And I'm saying that the odds are so far against you it's not funny. The chances it is possible for switching to work are close to 0. There's no reason it can't work out of the box other than it just WON'T be possible with the current hardware. Barring very small chance of a software bug forcing them to disable it for release date.

You can always hope, but more probable is you will have to either suck it up and lose those features or return it. With how disorganized HP appears right now you're unlikely to get an official response before the 21 day period is over.

Giving ANY company the benefit of the doubt that they will help the customer will get you screwed. Doesn't matter if it's a crap company or a great one, they will all screw over customers at some point. Better to exercise caution and lose a little time than a grand and lots of regret.

I sure as hell dont blame you! Nobody has time for all of that foolishness of having to ship it back to hp just because they themselves screwed up. Not a damn thing better be wrong with mine when it comes. I've loved hp for years, but so help me God and Lord forbid if something is messed up when it arrives, I will ask for a full return and go get a Macbook 17 for $1800.

Also just to give an update: Mine is currently in Alaska so its most definitely in transit. I'll keep everyone updated as well as give a detailed first impression when it arrives.

There wasn't any convincing to do actually. I just told them I received a damaged unit and needed a replacement ASAP. At first I was going to get the same config, but that would've shipped on 7/6/12. After what I went through initially I chose to inquire about a quick ship model. Ended up having a couple extra options above what I ordered, except for the hard drive being a regular 750GB and not the Hybrid. It also ended up being about $70 cheaper even after I paid for overnight shipping.

My original order was initially stuck in China for 3 days (no room on the flights they claimed), then stuck in Alaska for 2 days (cleared customs after the cutoff, and then a problem with the plane). I have to say, when this kicks the bucket I'm done with HP. Those Vizio laptops are looking VERY tempting at this point. Might get a thin and light to carry around instead of the Spectre I was looking to order.

When I went through the HP assistance chat with a tech guy, he said its usually a driver issue (just uninstall then reinstall the audio drivers) or needing to update/reinstall the BIOS. I would try those two before disabling that since it disables it when listening to music (at least for me it does).

All you have to do is hit a button. If it doesn't change anything hit it again. And you don't really disable it, all you do is click "Set Default" for Headphones and speakers.

sorry for a noobish question. does all Envy 17t-3200 come with widi? how to check if mine does? i have the basic non 3D envy 17t (7850, 8Gb, blu-ray, 750hybrid set-up)

after about a couple of weeks using it, i'm very happy! no cosmetic issues, the screen is awesome, games play without issues although not a PC gamer but now i'm starting to ;) (BF3, MW3,SF4VT, NBA2K12, NFSTR). It does get warm but not hot like the dV7t. If you don't assign games or applications to use 7850, games will stutter and feel sluggish, but when properly assigned games feel awesome and smooth. I now feel my PS3 and Xbox 360 graphics feel crap, honestly! Also, when i'm not connected to a power outlet, my graphics card switches to the Intel to save power, only happens on graphics intensive games though.

As one member mentioned earlier, the 750Hybrid is fast as well, i can start-up in 20sec..i'll be looking on SSD when the prices drop even more, although current prices are already tempting. Can someone here share how much faster is the SSD from cold start up?

From the power button to Firefox opening, my phone recorded 16 seconds. I'm using a Crucial M4 256GB. It would be faster if I could put my drives in RAID 0....

Nope, just make sure you disconnect the power cable for the battery from the motherboard before you do. I did mine yesterday and it's running smoothly. I also decided to move the My Documents, My Music, Downloads and My Videos folders to the storage drive as well. My intention is to keep the SSD to just the OS and necessary program files.

I do not think so. The computer should recognize it as a sata iii device automatically (if you bought a sata iii ssd). All you should have to do is clone the operating system and programs to the ssd, install it, and format the 1tb ssd.

Just make the recovery dvds, then use them to install the OS on the new drive. Maverick had posted a walk-through of what he did, but I can't find the post right now.
