So what's the point of 2 day shipping when it still takes 4 business days to reach me?

50 more bucks (or whatever the exact cost is) in their pockets. Most of the time the shipping is pretty quick. Not sure what is going on with things this week.

It's 2 days from the moment it reaches US soil and clears customs. FedEx is on a completely different level than HP when it comes to customer service and explaining things. Call international shipping and ask them to explain the process to you.

Yeah I used Fraps. I just wished the quality of the video came out better. I used Sony Vegas Pro... The ingame graphics were amazing. without Vsync you can expect anywhere from 80-90FPS. With Vsync on you get 60FPS the whole time...

Yeah, I'm have more games that I can make videos on but I'm having a hard time recording gameplay for Street Fighter X Tekken. I can't get a good video because it lags real bad. I don't know if maybe I got the settings in Fraps wrong. Should I be recording in 30FPS or 60FPS...

If it's just Youtube, then 30 is fine. Fraps is quite intensive as it is.

Just ordered one! This is after testing the DV6T and Y580. I hated the DV6T as it had a few QC issues. Y580 was nice in terms of performance for price (SSD etc) but it feels cheap. I'm anal about quality and chassis design. I fell in love with teh Envy 17 when I saw it at the Windows store.

Sometimes when you order a pc they give you a discount. Thevenvy does this. Have you gone through a mock order to see which monitors come discounted? Do a mock Envy order step by step and you will come to a monitor page that has $30-$100 off depending on monitor. That's the only thing I know of except mrrebates adds additional % off. If you already ordered I suppose you could call & ask saying you forgot to get one. There are also a lot of monitors on sale at retailers & online stores. Oh yeah there are $10 and $20 hp codes on general merchandise. See link here. http://www.dealigg.com/story-HP-Home-Coupon-Code-2

So I notice when customizing now the 80Gb mSata (I think that's what it was) with 750 hybrid option is gone. It now just says 80Gb SSD with 750 hybrid. What was that mSata thing? Wasn't it's speed limited by the way it was connected or something? I read something about that on here weeks ago.

HP Envy 17 with AMD Radeon HD 7850m Assassins Creed Revelations - YouTube
Hey everyone here's gameplay of Assassins Creed Revelations. Most setting were on High. I was getting around 45-60FPS the whole time. Game ran very smooth... I have Skyrim but I don't know how to get it use my 7850m card. The only option I have is the HD 4000 card... If anyone know's a fix please let me know... By the way I still have these games if anyone wants to see gameplay. Just Cause 2, Dirt 3, DC Universe Online, Street Fighter X Tekken, Modern Warfare 3... Let me know if you would like to see another game not listed here. I'll try my bst to get it for you...

No limitation using msata, it operates at sataiii and from what I can see either hits the limit of the interface or damn near close to it. Now the selection of good msata cards on the other hand is a little limited.

Can you run Battlefield 3 in "Ultra" with AA at 4X? I want to compare the 660M with the 7850M as I'm stuck between the Y580 and Envy 17.

    Here's the video of the Y580 playing BF3: Battlefield 3 Y580 1920X1080 - YouTube

If they run about the same, then I might as well go with the Envy 17. I already have the Y580 in front of me and have an Envy 17 ordered. Just debating between the two. I'm asking you 'cause I don't have BF3 on PC yet..I will compare D3 when I have both machines!

    Added rep for the videos!

How would you compare the 7850m to the GTX 660M?

    Which one is "more" overclockable?

I do know :D well um i dont got the legitimate one if u know what i mean but the game should be the same. Even though the launcher reads ur card as 4000 and lowers settings, just put it on ultra preset and whatever extra u want and run the game. It should work. if it doesnt, make ur game exe as high performance. for my illegitimate one, the exe is named "TESV". urs should be about the same. and u should be good to go.

I get very good framerates with ultrapreset and no aa/af, but with the 7850m u should be able to nearly max it out

the 7850m should be more overclockable but that depends on the driver support. it does have alot more thermal room cause the laptop remains cool.

the 660m is already basically a OCed 640m chip. Idk how much u can push it.

While my laptop has and is still taking an extended vacation in Shanghi  with a bunch of it's friends I do know others have posted it does work. One person even posted what device they married it too and all of said it works well. I wish mine would come home so I could tell you my results. You can search the forum however the forum search seems to be messed up so I use google, add " notebookreview envy" in my parameters and sometimes find what I'm looking for.

I can tell you that it might not be Fedex but HP. When mine was stuck in Shanghai for 3 days, I was told by Fedex that HP had them put that palette aside while they were still shipping out other stuff. It "missed" two flights, then it cleared customs in Alaska after the cutoff.

I was hoping to order something before my unit arrives so hopefully someone can answer my question. I have two 23" monitors at work that have HDMI inputs. I would like to plug the dual monitors into the Envy when it is at my office. I will not be running any high graphic apps, just excel, word, chrome, et. In addition I would like to do this as cheaply as possible. E-tailers sell a conversion cable with display port to HDMI. The Envy manual says you have to use a hard converter. Has anyone used just a cable or done this cheaply in another way?

    Thanks for the help.

Don't worry about it guys... seriously. I ordered the 5th, expected ship was the 15th but it was a Friday so it shipped Monday the 18th, I got it that Friday with standard shipping. I would rather have them take an extra few days to ensure quality than getting it to everyone speedy; luckily mine came pretty much flawless and in good time. ^_^

Mine has been at the Fedex Facility in Shanghai since the 29th. Just checked the latest update as of 10 am eastern time, and it's STILL there. As it's now the 3rd in Shanghai, that's 5 days of sitting time. I'm not sure if this latest blunder is HP's fault, FedEx's fault, or local government fault - my guess is the latter, but it's just another step in a horrible HP experience.

Last week, the HP rep "promised" a 2 Day Air upgrade. He clearly said "I will take care of this for you". When I called today, HP backpeddled, and said it was a "request", and while it was "requested", the HP call center in the Philippines never received a confirmation email from the shipping department. I then called FedEx, and they advised that I have standard shippping. Not that I'm surprised at all.

I dont know about anyone else, but I'd rather pay another $100-$200, and be able to speak with people who are in North America, and actually get something done, instead of nothing but misinformation, promises unkept, getting the runaround, and folks reading from a script. How do they expect to retain their customers in situations like this ?

I hope someone from HP reads this thread. It's a blueprint of how everything can go wrong, and a horrible HP experience. I've been a loyal customer of HP for countless years, and they are losing my faith and loyalty here.

I think its great when you call up HP Concierge Support and ask if they are close to coming up with a release of the Switchable graphics fix with new bios and software, and all they can say is your computer doesn't support it and your bios don't offer.
No kidding, thus the whole reason why I called in the first place.

They are still to date advertising on http://www.shopping.hp.com that HP envy 17 3D or non-3D models support WiDi. Can't have WiDi work without switchable graphics for the WiDi or Wireless Display uses the Intel HD 4000 graphics card. I'm physically tired of HP playing dumb at this point. Being able to build a CTO (customized to order) computer that says "Wireless Display Support" and the features work for nobody is beside me. We all paid for the features, they better be available to us and work. Now people with the Non-3D model are reporting that their computer is stuck on the Intel HD 4000 graphics chip. Thus why we all need a bios release to fix all of this.

If you are on the same boat or soon to be. Please call the following numbers and tell them to stop false advertising:

    877-917-4380 ex. 93

    800-756-0608 option. 7

Note: The first number listed above knows its a known issue, the second number will play as if they have never heard about it, don't play their game just take a stand and tell them to fix the issue and stop the illegal false advertising. The more people that call, the more people that are aware of this, the better chances we have that HP will do their job.

Thank You to all that support this cause.

To all: With the information that I have obtained in recent days the reason why all the orders are on hold isn't because of Customs or FedEx it is because HP is trying to have major bios and software updates available for when people start receiving their Envy 17 3D and non-3D models on the 6th and 9th of July. HP is on borrowed time at your expense at the moment. It's not FedEx's fault that HP has put a hold on your shipment.

Don't get me wrong, I love my HP Envy 17 3D, I just want the features that I paid for to work. This is a great machine that I hope to have for a very long time.

Just spoke with FedX 5:15 est. got transferred to international shipping. Then got transferred a 3rd time to supervisor. I asked what the hold up was and he said waiting on space on a plane. I don't know anymore than anyone but I do understand business. I don't believe a company can call after the bill of lading and say, hey hold that shipment till I get a fix for it. FedX would not allow themselves to be put in a position that would make them look bad just to appease a company. FedX is not in the storage business, they need to move freight so once it's shipped it's out of HP's hands (unless HP did not fill out appropriate customs paperwork). FedX took responsibility during my call anyway so I place the delay on their shoulders. That is my findings on this.

It will get here when it does. He also said it's still "on track" to be delivered by weeks end.

HP has a Customs official in China, as well as Alaska where out items have to clear Customs again. I don't believe HP told FedEx to hold your products until they have a fix.

What I said is that from the information I have obtained HP has delayed your orders to buy them time.

You can take that however you want with your "bill of lading". I'm just trying to help with the information I've obtained. Once you receive your defective product you will be back at the forum looking for answers that I have already given and information that I have provided to get your defective computer working the way it was designed to.

Good news for people not following the 15" envy thread. A few people received there units today and they said they looked great. No cosmetic flaws...

Rouge... I get your point, no need to post it 3 times in a row. FedX said there are no customs problems or delays due to HP. Just other shipments on the plane and no room. He indicated they had 5 day window, to move the palet on, per their shipping estimate times.

No big deal, I am just reporting my findings, that is all.

Thanks and yes I had the 2 day shipping but my issue is this, when I order my dv7 with free shipping it arrived at the same speed if not faster so I don't understand why everyone's packages are stuck in Shanghai.... I called FedEx previously about my own computer and they'd actually suggested that it's actually the way that HP's shipping these PC's out that is causing the delay. I suspect it's because they hold an enormous amount of laptops and then ship them out together perhaps at a reduced price then FedEx can't find enough room on their planes to transport them at once. I don't know for sure but thats my two cents in this conspiracy.

When I spoke to FedX they said exactly that. HP ships by the pallet, after they clear customs they get shipped to a FedX hub such as Indianapolis, then the packet is broken down and sorted as any other package and it goes on it's way.

Yeah I am pretty well aggravated at the whole situation. I guess i have been spoiled with the speed all the others have shipped at. This is the first time that they actually took longer than they originally estimated the ship day at(every other one was shipped almost a week early) and the first time that i have had this type of shipping delay also.
