Hey I clicked that link you posted the benchmarks were done on a macbook.. will the fps be better on the HP Dv7t qe or will they be even lower.. it doesn't say what resolution it was tested either from an educated guess I would think 1080p

The DV7t will be better - the Mac is underclocked to 675.
And you have options for Overclocking a bit without any worries.
And maybe more if you could find ways to keep it cool...

I will be recording gameplay and posting videos on youtube when I can, I actually play fifa 12 on both ps3 and xbox 360 and I consider myself to be pretty good so we will see how the PC treats me

Does anyone else playing Arkham City, have FPS drops that really annoy when entering new areas and in general?
The 6770m should be able to play this game at least in DX9 without any issues...

Will updating the video drivers improve the performance?

My laptop is new, and I haven't update anything from HP's website.

I don't think there will be any changes that will really be noticeable changes with the newest drivers.
The latest 11.11c says it fixes the terrain corruption with BF3 (I haven't played long enough to say).
Now the older drivers (maybe older than yours) didn't have corruption but had lower FPS than the new drivers in BF3.
Saint's Row and Arkham City have huge DX11 issues that have not really been solved by the latest.
You're fine as is, unless you have crashes, problems (if it isn't broken... ;) )

yea you should always update the graphics drivers, I got like 15% more fps on most games after installing these new "performance drivers"

What's a good 3D benchmark? I want to test the performance of my laptop. I don't want to purchase a game until my finals is finished(though it's really tempting).

    Specs:
    I5-2430
    Radeon 6770M
    8GB RAM

Unfortunately sanjie you won't be able to install 11.11 from AMD. Because you have a 61xx model, your computer has switchable graphics. AMD does not support drivers for switchable graphics systems. They only support the 6770M on regular systems.

HP's drivers are specifically tailored for switchable graphics systems.

Try DNA drivers, they're modded AMD drivers that are made compatible with switchable graphics.

Thank you for informing me. :| I just hope my laptop can run the games I'm planning to play.

You are correct. I get about 20 FPS or a bit more with BF3 on my 6770M. It doesn't seem to help the framerate much when I lower the settings, but the game is very playable and fun at 20 FPS.

dude, seriously, how can you possibly like 20fps?

I find the game choppy and slow if it runs at like 30 fps(which is what it runs on consoles) at 20 fps, i would stop playing

You have to uninstall the old drivers first, otherwise it won't work. It will detect drivers on your system and won't install the new ones.

You have to uninstall the old one first. The new one won't install over the HP drivers. Run Catalyst Install Manager, uninstall the display driver, then run the new package, and install only the display driver, uncheck everything else.

Ok, Now I have the 11.11b installed but in my C:AMD folder I have this folders.

    AMD_Catalyst_11.11b_Windows_Vista_7
    AMD_Catalyst_11.11c_Windows_Vista_7

The 11.11bb was the most recent one that I successfully installed, and the 11.11c was the one that I got errors. Can I just delete the 11.11c folder?

    Hey all,

Has anyone with a 61xx device been having some odd issues with PowerPlay and the 11.9 HP drivers? All of this is on fixed mode.

When I don't have PowerPlay enabled, games really suffer. For example, BF3 runs extremely poorly on low settings, almost as if it were running on the integrated chip or something. Minecraft also lags and stutters, something that shouldn't be happening for a game with decently weak graphics on the 6770M.

Now, if I turn on PowerPlay, things start to act differently. BF3 and other games run beautifully--the game is smooth, runs on High settings, with good FPS.

Minecraft, meanwhile, plays extremely well with PowerPlay--but consistently, it crashes 3-5 minutes in (ATI driver fails to respond and recovers). No matter what settings I use, the game is bound to crash. Sometimes I even get a blue screen error, related to the driver failing.

Why is PowerPlay messed up on this card? What can I do to fix this?

I have a question; most of the laptops here seem to be be running the 6770 GPU. The laptop I plan to buy has similiar specs as the dv6tqe, but it carries a 6750. How different are these cards? I have done notebook check - but I'd like to hear someone's opinion. Thanks!

Turning off PowerPlay make the gpu clocked at 100/150 constantly. That's why u get poor performance in game.

Turn PowerPlay back on and follow this step with MSI Afterburner to turn off PowerPlay power saving feature.

I'm also getting pretty bad lag with skyrim on the latest hp drivers. I've installed two updated hp drivers on top of older ones without uninstalling first so maybe this what's causing my problem? I'm going to try uninstalling and re-installing to see if that helps anything.
