The great thing is that it's also underclocked. With factory settings it will be around the 8600GT.

Any one else with a custom configuration recieve this message from HP??
"Due to severe material shortages, this order is still waiting for material allocation and the estimated ship date has been extended to 10/22." -
Ok so I tried to check my GPU clockspeeds with lots of tools and all of them said BIOS 300/400 Realtime 13.5/13.5
Only one tool (GPU-Z) didn't showed me 13.5/13.5 but showed 125/252 instead. Now GPU-Z also showed the bios having 300/400 so I thought maybe it's a downclock or something so I decided to boot up trackmania nations and have a look again. But the clockspeeds stayed the same (125/252) and didn't go up to 300/400?? I'm using the latest 7.9 hotfix modded drivers for vista so could it be I'm not using the HP ones? Or is this card so downclocked that it's far from stockspeeds?
Here's the screen of GPU-Z
-
Sounds like you're having the same experience I did Jade. I saw clocks anywhere from 12.5/13.5 to 500/450, and no program could give me a similar answer
I think two OC programs saw 300/400, but meh. I don't have any games that tax the system enough yet to warrant OCing, so I'll leave it to others for now

For those who may be using the Blu-Ray drive to play BD-movies: amazingly, HP installs Intervideo WinDVD 8 to play this format, but WinDVD only supports NVIDIA cards. So, I was unable to play any Blu-Ray movie with this software - useless! After installing Cyberlink PowerDVD ULTRA, I experienced the "wow" of watching BD-movies in my lappie...
-
GPU-Z is still very buggy and it doesen't show many graphic cards correctly, especially the notebook ones.
Today, a new DNA-Driver came out which should finally support the mobility HD2600 correctly (also under XP). Anyone fancy to try? (it's still a beta, so don't expect good performance. It's all about compatibility)
My 8510p should arrive within the next week, can't wait
-
Shambles.ch ill probably try it tmrw. havent got time today. thanks for that anyway!
-
Seems like the XP Problem is finally solved:
New DH Mobility Modder came out yesterday and some guys already tested it and confirmed that it workes perfectly! -
Shambles.ch, ive tried those DNA drivers but they are only for XP [by the look of it] and first thing first the archive is not complete.
-
Yeah!! My 8510p just arrived
It's charging right now...and i have to decide whether i should run Vista or XP... The problem is i'm thinking about getting a pen tablet and therefor Vista would be better, for everything else: XP
What i can say is that my HP 8510p came with discs for XP and Vista. -
Please could you tell me which ram do you use and get a score of 5.0 ? ? ? -
A problem that was solvable as soon as they got their notebook weeks ago with only about 15 minutes of work.
-
Shambles.ch, where did You buy it?? Somebody was saying that contacting Microsoft about going back to XP Pro, they will actually send You the system. Can anybody else confirm this??
-
I'm not sure what you mean by the "kind" of RAM. Nevertheless, I just bought both 2GB sticks from HP. I believe they are SAMSUNG... Not sure if this answers your question(?)...
-
Man, I am so jealous of you guys now with your 8510p/8510w notebooks... I can remember just a year ago when the nc8430/nw8440 was all the rage, and I felt lucky to have one myself (I really didn't have a choice when I got my notebook, though).
Amazing how fast technology evolves these days
On a side note, I'm surprised how much more powerful the workstation model (the 8510w) is over the non-workstation model (the 8510p). With the nc8430/nw8440, the graphics cards were virtually identical, with the nw8440's card having different drivers and slightly different firmware, if that. The nc8430 used the ATi Radeon X1600 256MB card, while the nw8440 used the ATi FireGL V5200 256MB, which actually used the Radeon X1600 core. So really, unless you really needed ISV certification or a WUXGA screen, then the nc8430 was a much better value. Funny how things change. -
bought it with a swiss university project (gave me a nice discount
). It came with 4 different language versions of vista and the same for xp plus the application/driver disc for both. Makes a total of 10 discs
Don't think that they will give you XP Pro for free...but you can try.
I personally decided to go with Vista. Did a clean install and tweaked it the whole day now (disabled A LOT of services) and it runs really smoothly! Nothing to compare with my first boot...
The next thing i'm going to do is connect the notebook via HDMI to our FullHD LCD. I want it to put out 1080p24, any program recommendations?
....it's about 5%.... -
Yeah... play Pro Evolution Soccer on it
Or any other game LOL -
which card does the 8510W have? FX1600? or 570m? those are 20% faster in 3dmark06....not that it means much.
but part of the reason is because the HD2600 is underclocked. when at factory ior slightly overclocked speeds, the Hd2600 should be within 5-10% of the FX1600 -
Exactly how I feel. This forum makes my notebook feel archaic. So, any plans on replacing your nw8440 Teraforce? You have a better case for replacement since yours is the T2600 variety which is 2 generations back, while mine's the C2D refresh (T7400).
You know you want a new one  -
Didn't mean it that way
I asked for a program which allows me to put 1080p24 out. Probably RivaTuner?
-
May I ask you when you received and ordered it? ( I assume you are talking about Neptun
)
I ordered it on the 27th september and didnt receive it yet
PS: ETH?
-
SHambles.ch i guess its the tv capability to get this resolution out. chceck your manual, it might be somewhere in the options.
-
Ordered mine on the 29th september and received it wednesday morning.
And yeah, talking about Neptun
I finished my matura and decided to take a year out (going abroad) before studying
Thx, just figured it out. And WOW, the notebook at 1920x1080p24 at the TV looks absolutely stunning!
But...i tried a DVD Playback with PowerDVD (at 1920x1080p24) and it doesn't run smoothly at all... shouldn't it be capable of upsacling a DVD?
//edit: Just recognized my error....i tried to run a dvd at 24Hz -.- -
Thank you for your answer. I meant which is the manufacturer of the ram (eg kingston) what speed does it run (667Mhz?) and which are the timinings of tha ram (eg 5-5-5-15)
-
You can see your RAM type via CPU-Z. If you want to upgrade your Ram, buy DDR2 667 with 5-5-5-15 timings and it will fit fine with the HP8510p.
-
Hey everyone, I'm trying to get 3DMark06 to run with my Vista Enterprise installation. I've updated my ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 Driver to version 7.9 (at least I think I have, that's what it says in the Catalyst Control Center window) using the Driver Heaven method mentioned earlier, but it still hangs in the hardware detection stage. I'm new at this so if you have any tips about what I might be doing improperly, please let me know. Otherwise the computer seems to be working great!
-
I asked him details from his ram, because i am interesting to know how he took 5points to windows experience score of ram
-
You have do delete/rename the following file: "C:\Windows\System32\Futuremark\MSC\ Direcpll.dll"
-
Thanks Shambles, that worked! I got a 3DMark06 score of 3162 without any adjustments. Can anyone offer advice on how to overclock for better performance? I've never tried that. Can you do it from inside the Catalyst Control center? Thanks!
-
Manufacturer - Samsung
Speed - 667MHz
5-5-5-15 (AND ALSO tRC 20)
I don't know why, but now my WEI shows 5.2 for Memory (instead of 5.0), maybe because I ran Winoptimizer 4 as a system maintenance tool...
So now my WEI is: 5.4 / 5.2 / 5.9 / 5.1 / 5.2 -
I maybe canceling my order for the 1520 and really want a hd2600, 8510p is nice and I'm also looking at this http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c...MP_Bluetooth=COM2-0013&COMP_Speaker=SPKR-0001
This price is incredible..... -
Use ATI Tool
-
That doesn't work, at least not with my notebook...
see this thread for more infos...
actually it would be great if you could try to oc with the standard drivers...might also be a driver problem -
I really do want a new one
, but I have no plans on replacing mine just yet. After all, my laptop is the exact model required by my school for me to use. I own the notebook myself, so I'll still have it after I graduate; however, it has all the necessary software for my school already installed, so if I do get a new notebook, I'll still need to use this one anyway! Along with the fact that I'm a little short on cash and that this year's freshmen also got nw8440s (Albiet with T7600 C2Ds and 2Gb RAM on one stick), I think I'll wait until after college before I upgrade.
FYI, at my school, each class has the same notebook. I'm in the Class of 2010 (sophmore), and we all have the exact notebook that's in my sig (though not everyone has upgraded to 2GB RAM). The class before me has Dell Precision M70s, and this year's seniors have HP Compaq nw8000s (lol). -
Ah ok. I received mine today (ordered the 24th). Anyway I'm really satisfied with the notebook. Couldnt spot any flaws yet...

Ran the 8510p through a few hours of Portal and EP2... and she got toasty but she still never left my lap. CPU spiked at just a tad under 70C (which dropped 15 degrees in about 20 seconds when I task switched), and I don't know the GPU temperature. However, she never even hiccuped the whole time at 1680x1050. Stayed almost constantly above 30fps, most of the time being over 45. Impressed. Of course, my last laptop was a T60 with a X1300 so....
-
She?? lol
Mine is male... i guess because my gf would get jelous if i started to call the laptop my baby lol -
Right now my laptop is near a cupboard door which is a little lower than the top of my screen. Let's just say I'm really glad I got a business class notebook now.
-
hi all the 8510p ram is stocked with pc5300=667mhz. but what is the fastest the ram the laptop can take. Anyone with any answers. cheers
-
It will take any faster ddr2 ram you will give it yet it wont benefit much, since its best to run it with sam freq as FSB so having 667Mhz ones is a best choice.
-
i no. just wondered what it could support up2. so i guess then the ram can take up2 800mhz then?
-
it should, but whats your point then??
-
No, unfortunately you cannot. According to this thread ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=121363) in Note1b by Gophn:
-
Maybe you can get fasters timings if you use ddr2-800. Of course i would like to had cl4, but here in Greece, you cannot find any ddr2-667 with cl4
-
you dont have options in bios to change the timings. and both [or just one - single] sticks would have to be capable of using cl4.
=========
BTW. are there any users with XP at the mo?? are there still problems with graphic drivers?? -
o my point was cos of this link i came across
http://labs.pcw.co.uk/2007/02/2gb_laptop_ram_.html
but if the latest of laptops cannot use it then what laptop can? -
asus c90 and 2 clevo at least, which i didnt remember the exactly models
-
By some chance, any suggestions or ideas before I have to call this in?. :\
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=178596
I haven't updated any hardware at all except for today. I noticed there were two driver updates for wireless and the touchpad on Windows Update.
This may be silly.. But my touchpad IS still enabled even when I'm using my cordless nano notebook mouse. Could that be causing the STOP errors?. I haven't noticed if I hit it accidentally when I'm tabbing or using the mouse at the same time. I do tend to swipe it with the base of my wrist from time to time when I type.
Looking into every possible idea with what could be going wrong..
I did encounter most severe errors around the same time I started up WoW and installed my mouse -- which was coincidentally on the same day. But could these two cause this BSOD?. -
since almost one week i am an owner of the 8510p. i used vista and xp on it but both werent performing as good as i would like. so i have some questions to you guys:
- under vista the fan is always running at almost highest speed, whats wrong here? this case stays on every power setting!
- under vista, before i reinstalled it, i had a display on the screen for the sound when using the touch thing, so i was able to see the actual volume on screen. ho can i get that back?
- is anyone using xp with the latest ati driver(7.10)?
greetz, noi$ia -
-check the BIOS settings for "fan always enabled while plugged in" or something like that
Also possible is that you didn't install all drivers...
-Install the software for it (can tell you the exact name later..)
HP 8510p available!
