I don't own it so I can't give you first hand experience.... but from what I gather:

    1. No, from what I've read it seems to run pretty cool.
    2. No clue. HP has only offered it with Espresso Black.
    3. Probably around 3-3.5 hours.
    4. I actually used the HP w2207h via HDMI with my DV2500 before my NVIDIA GPU killed itself. I find it to be very nice having the extra screen real estate. It comes in very handy and I would highly recommend using an external monitor, especially with the prices out now man. For instance, you can get this slick 23in Samsung for $180 here, normally it's $280.

Thank you for the reply. Does anyone know about SSD in this laptop? So the fan on this guy doesn't kick into full blast jet engine loud like the dv4, that's great to hear about.

I'm looking at my options for a good 13"-14" laptop.

Np. HP currently doesn't offer an SSD option but adding in an SSD yourself is fairly easy, just remove the current HD and replace it with the SSD and then obviously you're going to have to reinstall everything or import a disk image...

Again, you're going to want confirmation from an owner, but I am pretty sure if there is a blast it's only at the initial start-up of the laptop. Besides that, I am pretty sure it runs pretty cool and quiet.

IMO, your best bet is the DV3 or the DV4. You might want to look at the Dell Studio XPS 13, but IMO, both are superior to the XPS, especially when considering price/performance. Oh, and seems like newer DV4s don't suffer from the same heat issues as older versions... just a thought to keep in mind.

They also offer it in Moonlight white.

Well, the SXPS 13 and DV3 doesn't have any significant differences-105M is a rebadged 9300M G and offers a slight advantage over the SXPS 13's integrated 9400M but it uses DDR3 RAM. Processor options are basically the same. Yes the SXPS 13 is much pricier, but the aluminum chassis makes it a sturdier laptop. For performance, it depends in the configurations.

Thank you I will have to make a thread about the dv3 and dv4 and see if I can get a couple people with news ones to tell me about them, and their thoughts.

I have been looking at the dv4 a lot also, just the fan noise that plagues it makes me lean more toward the dv3. If that has changed then its back to a 50/50.

I received my computer today, so far so good. I'm still in the process of getting it set up. It's not much smaller than the DV4t, but I can feel a slight difference in the weight. I like it though. I have a question for those who own this already, did it have a sticker over the web cam? I kept trying to see if I could peel something off, but I don't think it's on there unless it's a tiny small circular sticker that's aligning perfectly with the web cam, which I'm doubting. I don't want to scratch up my web cam.

Mine is still in production, supposed to ship on the 10th, so I probably won't receive it until next week :(

I'm still playing around with it, but I don't see too much of a difference. It's not that much smaller than the dv4, which I wasn't expecting it to be noticeably different. I can notice a slight difference in the weight, which is nice since I'll be carrying it with me all the time. It's quieter than the dv4 (which wasn't really loud), and it feels cooler too. I was surprised that the optical drive was on the left hand side vs the right like the dv4, not that it's a problem. As of right now, I think they're both pretty equal. Here are my specs for the dv3t (I had to down grade some things to be compatible with some of the things my school was offering):

    HP Pavilion dv3t Entertainment PC
    • Moonlight White
    • Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (32-bit)
    • Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P8600 (2.4 GHz)
    • FREE Upgrade to 3GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm) from 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    • FREE Upgrade to 320GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    • Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
    • 13.3" diagonal WXGA High-Definition HP LED BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)

Time to wait for a good coupon. For the people that have the dv3t I am guessing its full of bloatware? Did you do a clean install on it? I am going to buy the recovery disk and make my own. I have a tendency to lose small things...

Well I just checked my order and it says it's already being shipped! (3 days earlier than scheduled too).

I chose the standard 5-7 business day shipping, so hopefully it will be here sometime next week (although having it being shipped from China may take longer).

How come the Moonlight White does not come with a back lite keyboard? How does the white look in person, the bubble design on the black one does not appeal to me at. Will they be using Nvidia 200 series GPU ever? I read earlier in this thread about it.

I don't know about the 200M series, but I think the reason they didn't put backlit keys on the moonlight model is because...well, the keyboard is white. I take it it won't be too difficult to see the keys at night with the glow from the monitor and all.

I agree with the color choice though, they should have just made the same design as the white model, except make the laptop BLACK not -brown, and make the same streaks but instead of gray, make them white so they stand out more. I bet that would have looked pretty nice.

I couldn't wait any longer for another 30% coupon since I have been waiting for 2 weeks, and can't believe they don't have real sale on July 4th. I am using fatwallet 3% + $150 instant discount and this 15% extra coupon, still pretty good deal after all.

BTW, HP offer P7550 (2.26 GHz) instead of P8600 (2.4 GHz) now ><

Damn, I was probably like the last one to order the 2.4 GHz CPU lol. I mean, it's only around 6-8% faster than the 2.26 GHz, but still. Also noticed they took off the 2.66 GHz as well...I wonder why?

Also just checked my tracking number and it's currently in Shanghai, China, and estimated arrival date is Monday! (was hopping for tomorrow because it started shipping on 7/6, but oh well).

Has anyone gotten the bluray drive with lightscribe? or the other bluray drive as a matter of fact. I dont remember seeing it any of the configurations you people put up. was just wondering if it was a good upgrade cause i think it'd be cool to have that option. Also is the 6-cell high capacity battery the same size as the six cell or is it a little bigger?

Hey guys, so my estimated delivery date is 7/13 (Monday), but I just checked the tracking number and it says that the package has left the Fed Ex location around 2 hours ago, and it takes roughly 6 hours by car to get to my house from there.

I know they don't deliver on Saturdays/Sundays for standard shipping, but I thought it was odd they didn't wait until Monday.

Do you guys think I'll actually get it today?

It says "Departed FedEx Location," but it didn't say "out for delivery" for any other stops, it just arrived at the next location on the list.

Thanks for posting that coupon code!

I already have an HDX18t for myself (love it!) but yesterday my wife's Dell B120 finally died. She liked my laptop, but wanted something smaller. We went to BestBuy and a few other places so she could compare the ergonomics among the varuious brands. In the end, she liked the dv3t more than the dv4 or the Dell Studio 15. With the coupon, we got her a new laptop and a wireless printer for $1270 after tax and shipping. Here is her build:

HP Pavilion Entertainment dv3t customizable Notebook PC
    • Espresso Black
    • Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
    • Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P8700 (2.53 GHz, 3 MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
    • 4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    • 250GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    • 512MB NVIDIA GeForce G 105M
    • 13.3" diagonal WXGA High-Definition HP LED BrightView Infinity Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)
    • LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
    • [For BrightView Infinity Display] Webcam + Fingerprint Reader
    • Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card with Bluetooth
    • No Included Mobile Broadband
    • HP Color Matching Keyboard
    • High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    • Microsoft(R) Works 9.0

I have the blu-ray drive in my HDX18t and it rules. I highly recommend it if you travel as the HDMI out allowed me to plug into most of the flat panels on my recent road trip from Seattle to Chicago and watch blu-ray movies I brought along. Just make sure you upgrade the graphics card and display to take advantage of the output.

Hey everyone, I am undecided between an Acer Aspire Timeline 3810t with the SU 9400 processor and the Hp dv3t...which one should I get?? Also, does the Hp dv3t (The one on Hp's website) have a screen with an aspect ratio of 16:9?

I got my Dv3T today...so sweet. The screen is beautiful, and the moonlight white design is gorgeous on the outside and inside. Everything works pretty well, I was afraid at first that my brightness f keys didn't work, but then I found out you need to hold fn + low/high brightness keys for them to work (a little odd but ok).

The keyboard is pretty nice. The keys aren't as thick as I thought they would be (yes!) and they're quiet too (not clanky at ALL). The volume touch-pad slider works pretty well, actually, and doesn't lag. The track-pad is good and the left/right clickers get the job done. I was very surprised that the mouse is touch sensitive, meaning you don't have to use the mouse keys all the time (pretty cool, although sometimes I need to touch the pad more than once for it to register, but I think I just need to get used to it). Also the zooming is done by placing two fingers on the touchpad and putting them together and out (this is identical to my sisters Mac, not sure if it's better though).

And the BEST part is that this is thing is dead SILENT.

Alright, now for some cons I've found so far:
1.) The mouse touch pad could be more responsive 2) I have a dead pixel almost in the center of the screen (small, but still a little annoying). 3.) The right shift key is smaller than the left one, kind of annoying but not a very big deal 3.) Although the computer runs cool, the right palm rest gets a little warm, maybe slightly hot. 4.) Vista is pretty different from XP, but it gets the job done I guess. Not sure if I like it yet.

And that's it. Sorry for the lengthy post, but I thought the people who were considered getting this unit might want to know the feel of the computer from an honest fellow consumer. I highly recommend this PC; it's portable, not heavy, has a nice screen that isn't small and is high res, and the computer runs cool too.

Can someone please tell me how to apply all these coupons/discounts everyone talks about? I tried to go to the HP website, but only allows ONE coupon code. "stacking" is not an option it seems, as it only accepts one code and only way to put in other code is to delete the first one. thanks for the help!

Does the 512MB video card offer any benefits to someone who doesn't game? I was looking at a similar combination to get the total to $1199, but was wondering if it was overkill. Thanks for the fatwallet tip, btw.

I plan to use it for some light CAD work.

I think it is also useful to render some of Vista and Win7's onscreen graphics.

Do you guys think I should contact HP about a dead pixel on my new DV3T? I mean, everything works fine, and there's only ONE but it's pretty much in the middle of the screen....would they even let me get another one?

If I were to never plan on playing games on the dv3t, is it still worth it to get the Nvidia graphics?

I probably would. The dead pixel in the middle of the screen would drive me bonkers. They should let you return it since you are within your 21 days of receiving it. It's a really quick process to get your money back, but another long wait to get your computer.

The pixel doesn't even bother me anymore, it's this damn "A" key. It was fine but after I was done playing some CS:S, I noticed it began to start squeaking every now and then (once it starts it takes roughly 10 more pushes for it to go back to normal).

I don't know, maybe it'll go stop on its own?
