Here's something for everyone to pass the time or avoid this thread altogether for a while until we get some good info coming along. With English translations no less because not everyone can speak gummy. Of most importance is "three times you can bite me"...

Wow! I just threw in 100 pieces of paper with Htwingnut's name on them into my Friday random ban bowl. And I'm letting Padme pick. Seriously.
-
The processor does run at full speed unplugged. I asked our German friend and he tested it. I think a lot of people complained about it in the e15.
-
Really I call hp and the tech told me that it does not run at full speed when unplugged. Why cant I get a straight answer on this... for crying out loud..
Hmm maybe someone on here can make a video or pictures to prove it so we will know for sure... If it does then I will order one asap. Another thing that concerns me though with a higher rez on the e14 it will probably get same fps with my m11x r2 or not ... I know that e14 has a better cpu and all. -
Perfect. Little do you know that Padmé loves it when you spell her name with the aigu above her "e", fills her ice veins with hot water when you quote star wars, but most importantly has stock in Haribo...
I WIN!

2.0 I think you're going to have to pull out the mother of all banhammers for this one.

But then who would offer you all this quality entertainment at no charge to you! 2.0's flipping the bill.
-
If you look back maybe 100 pages the German friend of ours used CPU-Z to test it. He posted pictures up. He did one test idle on battery and on AC and then another under load for battery and AC and underload the processor went up to 2.666GHz or something like that.
-
wow guys, been following your post. I mean wow so many problems with the shipment. This is one of deterring effects that Hp has, besides to high prices. I'm still not sure on my lappy yet, i'll keep you guys posted ight.
-
You should have been part of the M11x crowd. Took over a month to get that at launch too. Isn't too uncommon.
-
.......... -
That's been on the 1st page, BTW under review in progress.
-
The processor does not throttle, while on battery or not.
-
First of all, I had an R1 M11x and the build quality was fantastic. But the screen brightness in no way contrasted the glossy effect nearly enough. It was a great machine, but not for me.
Secondly regarding the E14 @ half speed, look a few posts up and you will see this is not true. It can run full speed on battery . -
I have to say, nicely done.
Added 2 of those to the front page of this thread. -
Thanks for the update. This is very much a relief. I appreciate all of you keeping me updated.

Is the "6-Cell Extended-Life Lithium-Ion Polymer Battery (over-sized)" the 'Slice' battery? This is shown while configuring the notebook.
I called sales today and asked about the Slice battery for the Envy 14 and he could not tell me which one it was...it was too technical for him so he passed me on to tech support. This other guy had issues hearing and understanding me and ultimately could not help me out without a serial number. I guess Echo November Victor Yankee One Four wasn't enough information to figure out what kind of battery I was looking for.
Both Envy 13 and 15 have a "9 Cell HP Envy Slim Fit Extended-Life Notebook Battery". The Envy 17 doesn't have this option either. -
For the last time people, the extended battery is not what is pictured. It is a slice battery.
-
You really think this is the last time? lol
-
On the first page there is a link to a video which shows the slice battery. I'll link it here for your convenience. YouTube - HP Envy 14
-
Seriously, how would an oversized battery work if the battery is covered by a metal plate?
-

Thanks, I already knew what it looked like. Their sales and tech support staff don't. There's no part number for it so it doesn't exist. -
Service manual lists the part number.

Hmm she's located in California, so she pays a hefty tax on those laptops. I configured one of her posted models (i5-450, 4GB 1dimm, 160GB SSD), and the ebay price is the exact same as on HP before any taxes or discounts.
I'm too lazy to do the math, but I don't see how this seller is making any profit. Hell, she could be losing money. -
So an idea came to me earlier today regarding all the discussion on battery life and temperature, and I figured I'd share it.
Someone who has an E14 should run a test using Intel Burn Test v2.3. IntelBurnTest is a more user-friendly version of Intel's LINPACK, which is an Intel-developed benchmarking utility/stress test that utterly brings CPUs to their knees. I put a lot of work into overclocking my desktop system*, and I tried many stress tests including Prime95 but IBT worked my system harder than any of the others by a healthy margin and found faults where others didn't. Using this utility would provide conclusive, worst-case-scenario results for CPU core temps, CPU-area chassis temps, and battery life under extreme CPU loads. I realize that this wouldn't be necesarily breaking new ground, but it would shed new light on the CPU temp/battery life topic that so many people ask about.
It may also be fun to try running ATI's OverDrive automated overclocking feature while running IBT, as that works the GPU extremely hard. I'm not really saying someone SHOULD do this, as I can't promise that bad things won't happen with that much extreme stress on a laptop...I'm just saying it could be fun and educational
*Using IBT I was able to get a 4009 mHz OC on an air cooled Intel Core 2 Duo e8500 (stock 3.16 gHz) stable overclock, almost a 26% overclock. More may be possible as that OC was done in ~90F ambient temps (Ohio in July) and now I'm living with air conditioning, but I'm too lazy to try and this CPU is plenty fast already. -

I see no mention of slim or slice. The only batteries are these.
8-cell, 59-Wh, 2.00-Ah, Li-ion battery 593548-001
6-cell, 62-Wh, 2.80-Ah, Li-ion battery 602410-001
Can you pick out the slice for the reading impaired? -
i dont think e14 slice is available for sale as of now
BTW, does this forum has a PM function? -
6-cell, 62-Wh, 2.80-Ah, Li-ion battery 602410-001 is the slice battery.
-
^ speaks truth
-
Don't have the part number, but here's the description from the Specs tab of the Envy 14 product info page (scroll down to battery & click 'Help Me Decide':
One 8 Cell Lithium Ion (standard) +One 6-Cell Extended-Life Lithium-Ion Polymer Battery (over-sized)
Maximize your entertainment! Along with a 8-cell battery, you get a 6 Cell HP Envy Slim Fit Extended-Life Notebook Battery. The 6-cell lets you stay on the go longer and at the same time maintain the sleek and slim appearance of your Envy notebook. -
I'm just curious since I'm about to buy this thing, do any of you that actually own the E14 have solid gaming benchmarks? Like, specific games, not 3DMark6, etc.
-
She could be tax exempt for many reasons (one being military) and she could get the 10% discount plus 3% fatwallet and maybe call to complain for $100 back on each order.
If she's smart, she could make well over $200 for each order. -
That's the one.
-
Yes, it will become available once you have made 5 posts. It's this way to stop PM spammers.

yo i got the 4gb RAM (1 dimm) does anyone think it would be worth buying another 4gb of ram to put in the second slot? and if so anyone have any suggestion about were i should buy it? (and if it makes any diff i got the i7-720 processor)
-
So, what's the general consensus on the RAM? Get the 4gb 2dimm or 1dimm? I'm leaning towards getting the 2dimm because I don't see any programs that I'd be running requiring more than 4gbs.
But I would like to future proof my computer within reasonable means and RAM is one of the can do's. -
Unless your running a program, or set of programs that actually needs the extra RAM, you will never come close to using 4GB in day to day life. Even running 2 games at once does not use the much.
-
2 dimm...dont waste money on 1 dimm....if u decide to upgrade later which u probably wont because u will be fine with 4 u can get faster or better ram and it'll probably be cheaper down the road.

I like the sleeve, its nice and slim. Look in my sig for a link to some pics since HP doesnt give any additional pictures.

Google says she's a Strategy&Planning/Business Process Analyst at Hewlett-Packard in Sacramento, CA. Maybe she gets an employee discount?
-
I bet she's the one that's secretly taking all of the Envys that come out from the factory and causing these delays!
-
Sorry double posted =/
Please don't throw my name into the random ban bin! I don't want to play that game!! -
maybe she is. i ordered from her and she hasnt said anything about a delay
-
oh well
maybe some unlucky fella with the configurations as u gonna get delayed instead
-
BRO! THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE PICS
I was actually looking for em!
Hehehe got mine for $4 :] -
If I were to order the Envy 14 on ebay through opal_cadet, I would be getting the HP warranty as if I purchased it directly right?
-
A couple alternatives to the HP sleeve if you want/need a front pocket for a power adapter and accessories. Looks like they'd work out well based on the dimensions:

Amazon.com: SOLO Studio 15" MacBook Sleeve: Clothing -
