I'm sure I missed it somewhere in this thread, but how'd you manage $4?
-
Mod, move this to the Backpack thread plz.
-
Damn, another day of going to work, and coming back, and the thread jumps another 50+ pages, and nothing new yet.
-
Why? There are like 5 pages in this thread talking about sleeves for the Envy 14.....

$25 coupon for the shipping delay. -
unfortunately I'm going to miss out on the bing cashbacks since I'm overseas...
hoping to see if I can stack the other rebates to at least get a couple % off... -
Anyone know if they're going to drop the price of the slice anytime soon? That's the only thing keeping me from buying this thing right now.
-
actually, there was something new. a lot of people have gotten delayed shipments
im not one of them yet (since i didnt buy on the 27 or 28.
-
Ha. Nice. I just contacted customer service and asked them to give me the $25 coupon + free shipping for the laptop shipment delay. We'll see what they say....
-
There's a thread that I made especially for bags, backpacks, sleeves, etc. Please use it.
-
Alrighty then. Will do!
-
Theres a zipper on the left side of the sleeve for the notebook. Theres also a zipper on the top side of the accessories pocket.
-
Great. Thanks.
-
The i5-430M / 4GB 1 DIMM in your chart was me. You can update that to say 320GB HDD and delay date 12th.
-
i5-520, 500gb HD, 6g-2 dimm ----> Ordered 6/30. Estimated build/ship date 7/14. :-(
EDIT: My warranty did arrive today, though. LOL -
Updated

So far, I see the common item as the 1 stick of 4 GB memory - even with the two 6 GB orders since that is 1x2 GB and 1x4GB stick. Anyone out there with 2 x 2GB and ordered on the 27th get a delay notice?
-
Thanks for the sleeve pics Kangu! After seeing them, I think I'm gonna get one
-
Phew, finally got back home ^^
Any update on the energy saving mode battery eater test of eras ? -
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Stupid me took this upgrade for the 500GB before realizing I needed a SSD and buying it online. So stupid.... -
Thought this was rather entertaining. Companies brace for end of cheap made-in-China era - Yahoo! Finance Article takes place from Shanghai. HMMM. Yes I do realize there's probably thousands of companies that have factories in Shanghai. It's just fun to poke fun at the idea that the workers may be on strike.
-
Hi people of the United States.
You argue that the Envy 14 has a battery life under average and I've seen a post in which the person upgraded for $75 from a 6cell to 8cell.
In Germany there is just one configuration out there with 520m,4gb,500gb hdd and 8 cell accu.
Can I say the runtime will bei a quarter longer compared to the 6cell accu?
Can somebody tell me the real capacity of the 8cell(Wh)?
Of course no infos bout that on the HP Homepage... -
standard 8 cell is supposed to be a 59 Wh battery. The additional slice battery is a 6 cell with a 62 Wh rating.
-
Thanks. 8cell with just 59Wh is garbage. All the cheap Asus, Acer or whatever have 60Wh with a 6cell. Fail, HP!
-
Is there really an advantage to have about the same amount of energy in a battery with less cells?
As far as I know the number of cells is quite irrelevant for the battery endurance and depends on the technology you use for the battery.
The more important point should be the amount of energy which is stored in the battery. -
That's his point, I think. HP's 8-cell battery is edged in amount of energy by smaller batteries.
-
No, I mean when brands like Acer, Asus, MSI can build 6cell accus with the same capacity but 2 cells less why can HP not integrate a 8cell battery with more capacity(for example Dell have 8cells with 82Wh).
I mean the envy is not to slim or to light to handle that.
This 8cell is just for commercial because alot of people don't know what makes a battery good, they think 8cell must be better than 6cells. -
Depends on what the refund is and how it was obtained. If it's a HP error or price match, then yes. If it's a phone in complaint which results in an HP courtesy refund, then no.
Show me a post that details a proper refund and I'll add it. -
Yeah, here's to hoping HP will offer a larger capacity 8 cell down the road.
-
I got the W7 Pro refund of $90.01.
I called up HP because the student edition of Windows 7 Pro was offered for $29.99 from Microsoft.com ( see bottom bar, the one on the left). I had to tell HP the website, and they logged onto it to verify. They then gave me the refund as credit to my credit card and put it on the monitor I ordered, but I'm sure if you didn't order a monitor then they'd just put it on the laptop. It took less than 5 minutes to do.

I had originally ordered the laptop with W7Pro and called the next day. They gave me the refund and are installing Prof. onto my laptop. Basically, I'm saved having to install it now.
edit: that's obviously a price-match policy -
My Envy just shipped (i520m, 160 GB SSD, original shipping date of 7/7). Say it's 5-7 day business day shipping, even though they told me on the phone yesterday that I was getting upgraded to 2 day.
But I'm still glad that it has finally shipped. Hooray!
Fedex tracking says expected delivery time is by the 14th, so it's definitely not two day. Will have to follow up with HP. -
Well the good news is my Envy finally shipped.
The bad news is it's standard, not the two-day upgrade they had promised me.
So... back on the horn with HP - obviously there's no way to change that now, but they did give me another $25 coupon and a $50 credit.
Maybe it pays to have HP screw up. -
Just ordered mine. Says the ship date is July 21st. I opted for 2-day shipping, as I need this to arrive on time. I fly out on that Monday

Hi ChemE,
Can you post a link to that Win7 Pro upgrade for $29.99? I wanted to notify HP as well. thanks!!
P.S Great job everyone, I've been following since the beginning! -
Hey, sorry I meant to include that in the original post. I edited it to include.
-
OK added with actual links to MSFT's student websites.
-
i5-430, 500 GB, 4GB RAM 1 DIMM, ordered at around 1:00 central standard time on the 27th, estimated to ship on the 7th, shipping on the 12th instead.
-
I thought that only works with XP and Vista. You have to buy WAU to upgrade Home Premium 7 to Professional 7.
-
I did order then and have not gotten an email. I called, and she assured me that my order was in customs and would ship today...we'll see.
-
I know that a couple other links have been mentioned already, but it's worth having options. Here is another website by Microsoft for academic discounted software (Windows 7, Office 2010): http://www.theultimatesteal.com
-
Did anyone else notice that the SSDs price went up? The 160 is $315, I would have sworn it was $275 a week ago...did anyone else notice this or am I crazy?
-
Think I'll wait till more people get their's before I place my order.
-
As far as Win 7 upgrades go - you can use the "Windows Anytime Upgrade", doesn't have to be pre-shipment.
And yes - I do believe more expensive orders are getting priority (as they should in my opinion) -
So SSD's have faster delivery speeds too? Man, I really should have upgraded.
-
Windows Anytime Upgrade deals expired last week. You can no longer do it for a discounted price
-
Do you mind letting us know the SSD brand and part number when you get it? Should be in device manager. Thanks a billion!
-
If they are giving expensive laptops higher priority than that is absurd and I will totally complain. Think of it this way; if your in a long *** line to say eat lunch at Chipotle, the people who have extremely large orders aren't going to simply go first. It goes one by one, first come first serve, and I'm assuming their production line does it the same way. Otherwise those of us that ordered on the 27th or 28th w/o SSD's aren't going to be getting our laptops until the end of July.....just because the "more expensive" orders get priority. ~I don't believe it, but if its true, I'll give HP hell.
-
I thought that at one time, but if you had configured a 500GB drive at +$40 it would show SSD at +$275 over existing configuration. Select base 250GB drive and it's $315.
-
Yeah I wouldn't believe they are giving more expensive orders priority. They must have been short on regular hard drives (which would be insane if you think about it).
-
oh quit being such a baby
