Same here. I feel really bad though for the people having problems. I so wanted these to be stellar examples of technical engineering for all of us... especially given what we went through to get them. :(

You happened to get the one DOA that's been reported so far. It sucks, but it should hardly cause you to give up on HP entirely. If you are so dissatisfied and wish you had bought an MBP, why not just return the E14 and get the MBP instead? You've still got plenty of time to do so, you know.

Are you seriously THAT lazy that you need a workaround so you can lift 1 finger instead of 2? Why do i always get the impression that Apple people are spoiled rotten?

See Change action center settings up there.

    mess with those

Turn Off Security Messages and Other System Notifications in Windows 7

    or follow this.

and if it still doesn't go away. ...have you rebooted at all? Have you clicked on the open it thing and does it disappear or not?

well the fixes may not work and you may be outta luck.

I mean only other possible solutions kill battery life (make the cpu never go down to that low power state) or uh....find the damn thing that's resonating on your motherboard and stop it somehow manually (this could result in you breaking your computer by accident and is not advised at all and mainly was a joke option)

Thanks! The second reboot did the trick. The first reboot was after installing some stuff, so I guess that closing it got put to the backburner or something...now I can see all of the big, beautiful screen!

My only complaint so far is the keyboard...the keys are REALLY smooth. It'll probably just take some getting used to, but first impression of that wasn't positive.

    oh but hey danny.

try changing the usb power settings and using the adapter again.

click on the battery/plugged in icon --> more power options --> change plan settings ---> change advanced power settings ---> find the usb stuff --> USB Selective suspend settings ---> disabled

Question: I just wiped my envy and did a fresh install of windows 7. I've installed all the drivers except for this "PCI Simple Communications Controller" and I couldn't figure out what it is. I've installed all the drivers from the envy 14 driver's thread and the only one I couldn't get to work is the bluetooth. I'm guessing that it is the bluetooth driver? If so, how do I install it.. when I tried, it just says no bluetooth device detected.

so I just did a clean install and got my wifi working again
But I have a couple questions:
    1) I forgot to delete the recovery partition during the install, how would I do it now?
    2) which ati driver do I install, the one from the driver thread or the one from ati's site
3)I backed up my swsettings, what do I have to move back for the brightness controls/mute buttons to work?
    Thanks in advance!

    those buttons should work anyway.

if they aren't by default install HPQL and reboot.

if you want the OSD stuff to show up for the volume, install the hp media smart smart menu (pulls you out of whatever you're full screened into, game wise) or install some third party one. 3rvx version 2.5 was what people were bringing up.

it's customizable and doesn't pull you out of a game

HP's default software is locked at 640x480.

you'll need to use some other webcam software

use the one in swsetup/in the envy 14 (intel) page on this forum.

any other driver won't work as of now.

    for partitions..umm...

partition magic and delete it and respace out your main one (this will take a while)

it may be a deal since he won't have the swsetup folder and won't be able to get a hold of it.

I mean someone else could upload theirs or he could boot up with hiren's boot cd or something and use the tiny xp on there and move it to an external...but besides that

I'll be glad to make my SWSetup folder available for download once I get my Envy. Anyone know of a good free public upload/download site for large files? If this is not against HP's "terms" (for lack of better legalese).
