    Just got my slice battery for 150.00 from Parts Store (plus 10% discount they offer since its 150) and can confirm it's the correct one if no one else has. Came 57% charged and my flight leaves tomorrow morning so I'll get some extensive tests of battery life.

    The odd thing is I never received a shipping notice, order process notice or anything - in fact my CC still hasn't been charged, yet it is definitely in my possession.

    Note: I find this thing absolutely massive (heavy and thick) but I'm not small so it doesn't bother me. I just plan on swapping it in and out a lot so its not a big deal.

    Maybe they felt bad and gave me a free one? Who knows but I do find it ridiculous that this 150 part is being sold for 50 more when you buy the computer - it should be 50 less.

    Tried MSI AfterBurner 1.6 ? Go to the installed folder and open MSIAfterburner.cfg, change the
    EnableUnofficialOverclocking = 0
    to
    EnableUnofficialOverclocking = 1
    Then start the apps..

    I wish I never heard it. Seriously, I'm at work distracted by trying to solve this unreal ****.

    GPU-Z confirms it.

    not sure how stable it'll run. ..haven't tried running anything to stress test but 550/800 is showing up in gpu test.

    msi can get up to 600 by the slider. so...*shrugs*

    it looks like while overclocked it can't clock down.

    it gets locked at 550/800 if you're using msi afterburner

    You're awesome!!! Now I really can't wait until I get my replacement. Dropped off the Envy I had to Fedex this morning.

    One request, would you mind running the FFXIV benchmark when OCed? Wondering how the score will differ.

    thanks lee

    the max msi afterburner will increase it is 585 for core.

    so I'll just use 550 (what the dv6t gets)

    memory can go up to 1040. so what should I put it at? just leave it at 800 for now?

    @teekay or someone who forsure has an Envy 14;

    No one has answered this for me yet, how do you sleep your Envy 14? And what EXACTLY is the response when you wake it up from sleep?

    Use the FF14 site, it definitely uses a flash intro thats huge and will make your cpu stop.

    well u can go to the start menu and press the button next to shut down and pick sleep
    Or, by default, it sleeps when you close the screen. I have a password so when I open it up again it goes to the login screen.

    ffxiv benchmark: 1691.

    but there's a weird issue where the fps is spiking up and down really quick every 5 or so seconds.

    I think it might of been there when I was doing 3dmark06 and may be a side effect of the catalyst drivers.

    btw. max temps:

    cpu 0 and 1 were 70/71

    gpu was 67

    Well, the temps didnt increase much. When I ran the benchmark, my maxes were 63/67 for the CPU and 65 for the GPU.
    And about the FPS spiking up and down, maybe you have some process running in the backround?

    My computer makes a loud noise like a camera booting up in the left topish near the keyboard and takes ~8 seconds to come out of sleep mode...

    Unfortunately I'm not going to purchase a second Envy 14 just to see if that is standard, can some one please tell me what theirs does coming out of sleep?>

    @MagusDraco,

    FF14 Benchmark doesn't work correctly.

    Specifically because of the high def widescreen of the Envy 14.

    Regardless of the game being in a different setting, it causes errors when attempting to bench mark on wide screens. In addition a lot of high end computers have been getting very low scores inexplicably.

    Well mine takes about 3 seconds maybe from the keyboard lighting up to the screen coming back on to the login screen. There was a loud sound, but when I ejected the DVD that was in the dvd drive, there was a less loud sound once I came out of sleep. Did you have anything in the dvd drive?

    My Dvd drive was empty. Thats a bizarre way to come out of sleep,
    I would really prefer if the screen would just light up.
    I wonder whats causing the noise & delay.

    My 2 year old Asus comes out of sleep by instantly lighting up with login screen...

    It's disappointing that you need to use overclocking software to achieve the same 5650 GPU speeds as in most other laptops, especially the considerably less expensive dv6.

    Is it at least stable?

    That's really crappy of HP to underclock the GPU and make it difficult for owners to overclock. I'm very curious to see how the cooling system handles an OC'ed 5650.

    Alaskajoel. I brought my computer into my office and gave it to someone who is very very amazing with laptops, like anything physically that can be done with a laptop he can do.

    Theres a fix. It involves stopping something from resonating using glue.

    It picks up certain frequencies (certain CPU usage) and resonates causing the noise.

    Hes about 80% sure thats what it is, I'll keep you posted.

    I have the older versoin of the BIOS in my envy 14, dated at 4/22/2010. I tried using HP's website to download the latest verson of the BIOS, which worked, but once I run the program, the computer loads the upgrade in "blocks" and then verifys it. Next, a screen comes up that tells me the computer will restart and may take a few minutes while LEDs may also flash. This step never happens because my envy then suddenly shutsdown. I've tried this 3 times but everytime I turn my laptop back on my BIOS wasn't updated. Is anyone else experiencing this or can anyone help?

    And can you post your 3dmark06 scores after the OC? thanks!

    Magus just crashed his computer with setFSB.

    getting the FSB works for the first two choices.

    the first one can't set it (it resets)

    the second one. well. it breaks the computer (and I had to remove the battery to shut down)

    also lith.

    Does anybody know if WmiPrvSE (WMI Host Provider) needs to be running? It's using up cpu and I don't know what it is. Also, HPMSGSVC.exe is running, which I believe I found to be HP Quicklaunch buttons, and that's actually using a bunch of cpu for some reason as well. Does that control the F key functions like brightness and stuff?

    On that note, all of those keys are working except my volume keys aren't working anymore...I have no idea why, it's very strange.

    Anyone help with these things?

    btw, this just looks bada$$ :D

    I didn't have my digital camera available with me and I only used my phone for convenience. I couldn't take much pictures either because I was overexcited and I have to leave soon. Please don't complain about the lack of pictures because I was short in time, I will be taking more

    Did you try flashing the bios in windows safe mode ?
    To run windows in safe mode you need to spam the F8 button right before windows starts loading when you boot.

    If that still doesn't work, just burn recovery dvds and do a full recovery of your envy... or take that chance to do a clean install of win7. Maybe the problem lies there.
