    so is everyone using cpuid?

speedfan is giving me much more varied, and i believe accurate readings

(hwmonitor wouldnt read below 34 even when i had the laptop beside an ac unit, it was cold to touch, crazy)

    well.

hwmonitor is picking it up for each core (which there are two)

speedfan is picking it up for each thread. I think you have to combine the two of the threads together somehow sorta to get the core temp.

hwmonitor and speedfan had the same temp0 and 1s or 1 and 2s or whatever (it's the acpi temps. the motherboard temp)

Well, 3 finger swipe has been eliminated from my list because it doesnt work in windows explorer, whereas Twofingerscroll does go back and forward in explorer

Im in touchpad heaven right now :)
I was fine before not knowing any of these gestures and stuff so this is great lol

I just also set 2+1 finger to middle button, so that's very good for scrolling through long pages :)

Hey guys, not sure if this issue has been discussed before but here:

After a clean install of 7 Home Premium, I put up all the drivers in the SWsetup and Device Manager shows no more unknown devices. Envy has been perfect so far. Just one minor issue: the wi-fi button (the F10 key) stays blue on the LED. The button function is entirely working - it turns off and on, like it's supposed to. But a quick fix for this would be great. Thanks.

Look for "HPQL" in your SWsetup folder, install, then reboot and you should be good. That was bugging me for a while too

I did the same, except I just did not back up the SwSetup folder and downloaded the drivers from the Envy 14 driver thread instead. Everything works 100%... except the mute/wifi lights. It seems this was fixed by others after running the setup in the SwSetup\HPQL folder, but I am not in possession of those files anymore.

Could someone zip the HPQL folder and upload it to Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire or some other site? It would be greatly appreciated.

WiFi button light not changing colors? Install the HPQL drivers in the SwSetup folder! lol

and also perhaps my video of the cpu whine, as I think lots of people want to know wth us people are talking about

So, anyone with the i5-520 get lower near idling scores than this?

SM was saying that the people with the whine have a louder idling?

No worries. Apple is still having trouble with double-tap too. I tried for a long time to find ways to trigger two-finger tap to right-click. Never got more than a 3/4 success rate, so I was stuck with pressing down with two fingers for right click or pressing down the bottom right portion.

A real pity, that whiney noise. I'll take loud fan noise over high pitched squealing any day of the week. I've been using so many moderately loud laptops and desktops the years that I actually consider too much silence abnormal. In the very least, it helps drown out library background noise.

Wait. Do you have to 3-finger tap to activate the gestures, or is it possible to disable that portion so that a direct 3-finger swipe makes you go backward/forward?

I think it's just a quick tap with 3 fingers and then a swipe, I think if you just swipe it'll have a hard time recognizing it. That being said I'm not gonna use that anyway as TwoFingerScroll works generally as forward/back whereas synaptics only works for browsers i believe

it depends on how good your ears are too

i can hear the "whine" on my i3 but its almost inaudible (i have to have my ear against the laptop) and its only with my left ear

    so your mileage may vary

Anyone used their mini Displayport yet? I picked up an Accell mini-displayport to dual link DVI hoping to drive a 30 inch Dell monitor but I cannot get it to work. I think the adapter may be a dud but I have no way to test the displayport functionality. It is the same result on both Envy lappies. Might bring my notebook along when I take the adapter back to see if there is something I can connect to validate. HDMI to DVI-D (single link) works like a champ but with the 2560x1600 resolution on the monitor, I get exactly half that (1280x800 - 1 channel). I was looking forward to seeing how this would work. Maybe tomorrow.

You plug in one end into the laptop, and the other end into a hard drive. Presto!

(External hard drive has to have an e-sata port, which most don't, but I do believe it works with internal hard drives SATA ports? Somebody wanna confirm or deny this?)

With just a standard eSATA cable you have to have an USB or external powered eSATA drive, the eSATA cable will not provide power. Not sure on a internal SATA drive but with the proper cable adapter and power to the drive it don't see why it wouldn't work.

There is a new type of combo eSATA + power cable that draws the external drives power from the power contacts in the combo eSATA / USB connector so just a single cable does both. I have some of these enclosures and use this eSATA + power cable, works great. Seagate has a new 'Go flex' external line has the same feature with an eSATA+power cable and 7200 rpm drives in a small package, I have some on backorder so can't report on performance yet.

I can actually hear the whine from about 13 seconds in the video on, though that may be because I am using in-ear monitors which provide good isolation allowing me to hear fainter sounds I suppose.
