As far as I can see, the envy is available only on hp DE with 1 configuration or hp US with all the customize options.

I live in Portugal and hp PT has no idea when it will be available, they're about to lauch the envy 17" as the new thing.

So, I'd like to understand if the hp DE store has the option in the buying procedure to change the layout, because I can't understand :p

There is no configuration possible. I dont think you can order anything else in Germany..
But, the keyboard is on a seperate tray now, so I believe you might be able to get another keyboard as spare part and have it installed.
This has not been possible with the older Envy models...

Apropos keyboard, i havent been able to activate the backlight. The backlight button does not do the job..

Lith07, my bank card send me a fraud alert email and I had to confirm I placed the order. It delayed things on the HP side half hour or so but went thru. Call your bank if u haven't. Good luck!

My bad, its working perfectly, just my room is in direct sunlight and to see it I need to peek under the keys from a very low angle..
Now that I know its there I can see the difference, a very discreet lighting up of the letters on the keys..
    I like it..

Nice.. I am using some Philips Stereo Headphones and I really feel the improvement in the sound compared to my old model..
Maybe the lower frequencies are a bit too dominant, I will tune the settings a bit..

Please, can either of you comment on battery life? From a 100% charge, how many hours of light tasks are you getting?

I thought this would be more important to others, but it seems I'm one of the only people stressing about battery life.

I would love to have the possibility to change the keyboard...mine will be US and i would like to have a German one, or a Hungarian one (I am from Hungary).

i hope at least you will use the envy during the weekend and can tell us about the battery life :)

But thank you so much again for all your VERY helpful posts!

maybe because the windows battery timer isn't that accurate and he only received it so unable to truly do a battery test.

I was referring to the people who have purchased an Envy 14 and are not concerned about battery life.

I'm just hoping erathostenes or ademmer can comment on battery life at some point. I think it's important when buying a notebook.

It was stated earlier that the screen angle is 135 degrees, which seems more than adequate for most users.

Yeah, battery life is definitely very important!

Already stated: screen is bright (no reflection at all), colorful and viewing angles are really high too. Have a look at the photos he posted earlier, and see it with your eyes: it is truly amazing!

For test on the battery, I have the notebook for less than two hours now, its far too early to make claims now.. Please have some patience..

About the screen, its very nice, I have little problem with reflections, just earlier, when I was testing HD playback, blacks were too black to overcome the reflections, but they are supposed to be black, so I will test again in a dark room later.
Viewing angles are excellent, horizontally almost 180°, vertically its over 90° (about 45° from the perpendicular axis) until I see a change in colour, but very gradually..
Far better than my old notebook..
Very rich vibrant colors.. They really pop, as seen in the youtube videos..

On the camera the reflections are more dominant than to the eye..

Does the HP logo on the back of the screen (so to speak on the lid) lights up when you turn it on? :)

Yes, its lit up as the computer is running..

By the way, here are some idle temperatures:
Keep in mind its extremely hot in my room, in a cooler environment it should be better..

The battery bar does not give a battery estimate yet, I think it needs to run one or two times for a good estimate..

I have played around with the Touchpad a bit.
As a pointing device its doing a great job, very accurate and the bis size is greatly appreciated..
Clicking took some getting used to.. The resistance to click is a bit high for my taste and you need to click more in the middle for a satisfying result but it feels like they improved the jiggle issue.
When I rest my thumb on the click area, it doesnt have much of an impact on pointing accuracy.. Just when I move my thumb for several mm, it gets registered in the mouse movement..

Anyways, I want to see the soccer game now. I will return in three hours for more Q&A!

according to HP and the pictures we have seen there are two audio ports on the envy: an audio out/headphone jack (with beats technology), and a second audio out/headphone jack which also could be used as a microphone/audio in jack.

so to answer ur question shorrtly: yes they are the same.

I am sure it will exceed 70-75 C under load. and that is going to cause some discomfort. I hope the cooling system lives up to expctation and does not suffer like other envy models.

I am counting on it. Heat and battery life is what matters to me.

Nice to see reports coming in already, thanks for all your contributions. I spoke to an HP CSR about the manufacturer and model # of the SSD, it's interesting on how little they know about their own products. Since they couldn't provide that to me, could any new owners confirm that spec?

Edit: also the rep told me to look for an HP wide sale on July 4th. I asked him if the envy14 would be included in that sale and he assured me it would. Grain of salt, but for those who haven't ordered, might be worth a few days more wait.
