Yea I checked it, it's at 1300€ = 1550 USD for :
-i5 530 (2,4 ghz)
-4gigs
-1600* radiance screen
- the rest is the same as announced except : 8 cell battery instead of 6 cells. (so thats a rocking 6 hours in any case of battery life)
But they don't précise if they include the slice battery in the package (my guess is that it's included, its such one of the main features of the envy it can't be sold only as an upgrade) because they don't offer you to buy it on the side in the accessory page.
Theres also no customization page. So maybe for the launch HP will only sell those models. It sounds like customizable lower or higher specs one will probably come shortly after.

HP UK is showing the Envy 17 with all the base config's stated by Barry Ferris for £1300 which is obv more expensive than the US but was confirmed by Electricpig.co.uk back when the models were announced (electricpig.co.uk called HP direct for a price point).
Hopefully then this is good news for the Envy 14 being that the base config state will actually be what we get for the price point of £999.

And that seems to be with Blu-Ray as well. Not bad at all. IMO the £999 Envy 14 will be higher speced than the US base model. At least I hope so...
-
The Norwegian HP site is showing the Envy 17 with a retail price of 13999 NOK (1 GBP = 9.61 NOK) for a configuration with Core i7-720QM, 8 GB RAM, BluRay, 2x500GB HDD, 6 cell, HP Ultra BrightView Infinity screen 1920x1080. Strangely, they don't list any other configurations. A configuration like this is not yet listed at any actual web shops, but a somewhat lower config (HP Envy 17-1085eo / WP017EA#UUW: 6 GB RAM, 1x500 GB HDD, DVD-RW instead of BluRay) is listed as low as 10220 NOK ( abbo.no), and as high as 11990 NOK ( komplett.no). Base config (HP Envy 17-1080eo / WP005EA#UUW: Core i5-450M, 4 GB RAM, 1x500GB HDD, DVD-RW, 1600x900 BrightView display) is listed at 9990 NOK. I'd say 10220 NOK for the 1085eo is a very good price. Full list of prices here. (Posted it earlier, but reposting here for convenience.)
-
that's so worth the price... seems like a good deal to me. Wish I knew people in norway, if there keyboard is pretty much the same as a UK one i would be all over that 17, would be nice to complement my soon-to-be envy 14. -
I have heard that the envy 14 doesnt have VGA. How can i connect this to a VGA-projector then? And i Belive Mac doesnt have one either (they use some kind of mac-to-vga-adapter). Those wont work for the envy right?
-
Yea i think its the same kind of minidisplay port. But it won't work with apple adaptaters for sure (macbook and mbp having already between them two different uncompatible adapters rofl). Anyway theres still HDMI to vga adaptaters.
-
One like this:
Amazon.com: HDMI to VGA HD15 (Male) Cable: Electronics
for $3.99 -
20 days arghh!
-
Hey no worries, there's always the World Cup to keep my mind of it. Or so I hope, this obsession is getting unhealthy!
-
a minidisplayport to vga would work as well
-
What are they so far besides the squeaky i7?
-
i havent heard anything really. although im not getting an i7 so looks like im still good
-
Speaking of Envy 17, I'm surprised no one has put an unboxing or review up on YouTube yet...
-
that's what i've been thinking... when the envy 15 came out people were putting up reviews as soon as they got their units. strange, either they're really bad or HP has made a product that is actually satisfying their consumers
-
Unless you are actually in the countries being mentioned, don't get too excited about these preorder prices. Overseas prices rarely have anything in common with US prices.
-
I have orientation for school July 19, and I'd like to have my laptop by then. I NEED it by Aug. 12. Do you think I'd have trouble getting the 14 by then? People seem to be having difficulty getting the 17...
-
You're in the US, right? I'm sure you could get it by August 12. July 19, hopefully...
-
Yeah, I'm in the US. I do want to customize it a bit...hopefully Amazon will have something like they have with the 17.
-
If you really must know it's been in my sig for like a month now.
-
there is an unboxing up!
bad ram, bad motherboard, crashing, overheating.. you name it. -
um, what?
The "bad ram" you spoke of "fixed itself" after a short time (for some reason computer started running perfect again, the owner still got a replacement.
bad motherboard? are you referring to the whining? No one has received a bad motherboard and the whining noise can only be heard by some people and is a problem across all laptop brands. Overheating? That's just a lie. Might want to actually read that thread.
-
where's the unboxing?
-
Yeah, but by then the Envy 14 will sell for, like, $5..
So, like, totally worth it..
-
Yes, where is this unboxing?
-
The unboxing of the Envy 17 that someone mentioned?
Just look into the "Envy 17 Owners Thread". http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-owners-lounge-forum/484905-official-hp-envy-17-owners-lounge.html
I think its about page 90?
And its no video but some pictures.
Edith says:
On the fist page of the thread there are some links to reviews. -
We were discussing a video unboxing-- or at least I was.
-
Does anyone know if the tax-free day in august applies to online orders with HP? Also where do people get these $400+ coupons, besides bing since that will no longer be around? I'm really tryign to stay around $1000-1100 for the Envy 14...I just can't justify spending more than that for a laptop.
-
Keep in mind, the envy 14 will be available before bing ends at the end of July. And HP comes out with 40% off coupon codes from time to time and those are usually found on deal sites like SD. Right now, there is 25% BCB from HP.
-
Thanks for the info! Can the school discount be added on to the BCB as well? I can get 10% off from my student discount.
-
GAH! Would love it if we could pre-order the Envy 14 right now with 25% off BCB.
-
I hope so... Anyone know for sure?
-
40% coupon codes?
Are you serious?
In that case I am going to wait till those come out to buy this beast.
That is a whole lot of extra $, with all the upgrades I think I'll be getting it'll come out to around $1g
-
Well currently on bcb theres the last stocks of envy 15 with i5-430M 2.53GHz Turbo✔4GB✔320G✔WIFI-N✔BT✔1GB ATI HD5830 for around 1000$
-
Hold on a second. So...with my education discount, I can get 10% off. Are you saying it's probably I may be able to apply a 40% HP coupon and get anywhere from 10-25% BCB, or will I get something canceled?
-
BCB will not stack. Any attempt to do so will cancel the Bing discount. The coupons may or may not stack depending on the individual deal.
Bronsky
BTW, can you get that freaking turtle to move a little faster?
-
Im sorry but can someone explain to me what this BCB is?
-
So I guess at the end of the day, I can only stack education discount+whatever gives me a better discount, coupon or BCB. The education discount will help me offset California's sales tax.
As for the turtle, what're you expecting me to do, get a whiplash? It's bad enough BP's killing marine life in the gulf!
-
BCB stands for Bing Cash Back. They have % discounts at many online retailers.
-
In the hp student store it is written than the discounts given on it are not stackable with any other sort of discount or coupon usable on the hp store.
-
Well, damn! Guess that's that.
That means the only solace I have is using the discount only if there aren't any coupons or BCB available. Historically, HP's mega coupons have always offered more than the usual 10% off.
Here's to hoping for some coupons to go with the $999 pricing. -
Any chance of BCB coupons for Europe?
...Ah! fat chance! -
Dunno, if HP's euro stores have the same coupon databases, maybe a coupon from bcb could work.
In the usa at worst you get the 5-10% classic cashback anyway and that's for purchases from resellers that are often 5-10% cheaper than the hp store itself so in the end you get a 10-20% anyway from using bing itself to find a reseller or a special coupon on the store.
The only difference is that you gotta push forward the money before getting it back if you go through normal bcb instead of coupon bcb. -
the iphone 4 totally got my mind off this laptop for a while.
but now im back.
-
There's no escape. -
I plan to buy the Envy 14 in the United States and use it up here in Canada. Would I still be covered by the 1 year warranty in Canada?
-
bing cash back is back to 25%. Shame the envy 14 is not there yet.
-
We can only hope it will hold out for another 20 days so early buyers can use it.
If all else fails, I will go with my education discount... All that will serve to do is offset the huge tax the laptop. -
Usually the 25% is only for a few days, but it comes back periodically. I figure once the Envy 14 is available for order I'll just wait for BCB and at worse take the normal HP 10% off end of July before BCB expires.
What would be ideal is for HP to open pre-order in the next day or so and get the discount then. -
Bestbuy Biing Cashback is also 20%. Fack, I need a ready to ship model NOW!
