Bing Cashback, formerly known as Live Cashback, is offering 25% back on all HP purchases which originate from the Bing.com search engine. And, students and teachers can save even more by buying through the HP Academic Purchase Program.

    http://www.walletpop.com/blog/tag/HP+Academic+Purchase+Program/

hope that means i can use both, well see

I threw out $2000 as a guess of what it might cost to add some ram, an extra battery/battery slice, etc.

    The press release says $1800.

    Pricing and availability

The HP ENVY 13 and ENVY 15 are expected to be available in the United States on Oct. 18 with a starting price of $1,699 (envy 13) and $1,799 (envy 15), respectively.(5) Register for availability notification at www.hpdirect.com/go/newfromhp.

Additional information about HP ENVY will be available the morning of Sept. 15 at www.hp.com/go/ENVY.

The www.hp.com/go/ENVY is a nice marketing site for the machine.

According to the HP twitter page, using coupons or any EPP/Academy discount will make you ineligible for the bing cashback.

Still good? STILL GOOD!?!?! LOL! 25% is AWESOME!

I wish I would have known about this sooner cause I just dropped $2000 to finish paying off a wedding photographer/couch/king size bed loan. I will have to wait a while till probably Christmas and use the cash I get then to help pay for the Envy 15 (dont want to max out the old credit card for this laptop). Might even hold off till I get my taxes back and use that as well, thought I'm sure my wife already has plans for that money....

How often do these Bing cash back offers happen and how do they work? I have never used this before? If they happen often enough, I might wait until the next one.

They always have the Bing Cashback, but 25% is rare. This will probably be the only time that much this year, maybe once more on Black Friday. That's it usually for the high discounts. Normally it's around 5% off your purchase.

No mic?.. where did you get that info from? How can there be a webcam with no mic? If you look on the side of that config, it says it includes mic. I don't think they have added everything on there just yet.

Edit: In all honesty though, I am not thrilled with options so far. I guess we will see.

That would make the whole webcam pretty pointless if there really is no mic. Here's hoping its just a kink and when I wake up tomorrow there'll be lots of pleasant fixes on the site.

Actually, I think I'm officially not going to buy this because the battery slice isn't included. I don't want to pay an extra $125 just for an extended battery. That is just wack. I hope its a typo or something, but if its not, count me out. I mean come on, is a battery too much to ask?

And NO OD Bay, and the worst NO MIC!!! What were they thinking?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!
And 100 bucks to get another 2GB stick is outrageous, and 400 for the 820 is a no-go! Dell offers it for 350 and that is robbery.

Serg we do not have confirmation of no mic. If you look at all the other new laptops Hp is introducing..they all just say webcam only. I am sure they will fix the information. Lets wait just a wee bit longer. ;) :D

I personally am annoyed with no firewire! ...hehe.

The $1999 config includes ODD and battery slice. Good deal for $200 extra.

I still think the 4 SODIMM slots is a great value - $100 extra will take you to 8GB. Try that with any 2-slot laptop.

Obviously the hp.com site has "some" initial errors, give it a day or two.

No SSD. And the config with bat slice and OD is the same as the basic, simply added the things, you can do that by going the other way and adding it yourself. Still too expensive, even if we count the 25% CB from Bing...

it doesnt even say if the 4830 is using ddr3 or gddr3. it would be nice to know

thats actually not a bad price for 16gb of ram.

it would have been nice if some of the prices had been wrong but in our favor. i think a few of them are but not enough options line up to make it worth purchasing today.

lets say its a $2000 config...with the bing cash back, that is almost $500. That is pretty good in my opinion. Then you can still get the slice and the optical drive. That would end up making it around 1500-1800 if you included that. Geez, I was never good in math. Hopefully I am close with those numbers...hehe. :D
