with a product like the envy and demand for better options, i bet there will be a refresh of options by January, i can wait
-
-
my guess is that it will start during normal business hours, hopefully they fix prices (how can going from 6gb or ram 2gb be +$900) and add some better options
-
Such a nice looking laptop, such a fail on the price, now to find a different laptop to buy
-
Ok, I understand everyone stating that the downgrade prices are ridiculous, of course pending if it is a website problem. I do not understand how everyone is saying it is a horrible price? For almost $2100, you can get the added slice that should give you over 4 hours of run time, and a blu ray player, a (hopefully) faster ATI card. The XPS 16 is similarly price through EPP with 9 cell and 256 SSD. With the added cashback from HP, is it really that bad? Just want to know everyone's thoughts/opinions.
-
Edit: No HD!!!!.. arrrghhh.. why is it so difficult to find the right laptop??!! WHY??!! Ok, rant over. -
HAHAHAHA did not notice no HD available. That sucks.
But a fairly good GPU, great CPU for less than 1K, it beats Dell's Studio 15 but not the larger Studio 17 in bang-for-the-buck. -

Here's a plus buried in the product description:
"Reduced glare in the dark via low-luminance indicators on the keys"
Glow in the dark keys? -
VS backlit keyboard?
I prefer the backlit.
Though the camera looks interesting. -
Maybe I will just take the plunge as soon as the bing cashback is live. I guess I will be everyone's guineapig...hehe.
-
im planing to get one when they fix the bugs on the website. i want SSD!!!!
-
-
I saw the review from Taiwan yesterday, but have anyone been able to find more? My internet connection is pretty much blocked today (only 64 kbit/s), making is somewhat harder to look through the net.
-
But buy SSDs aftermarket!! It is a looooooooooooooot cheaper
-
i cant find anything new yet. hopefully it wont take long.
you got any recomendation serg? how about a link? -
Due to the wide gamut, RGBLED really needs 8-bit panels, and there is only one panel on the market that's documented by the manufacturer to use 8-bit hardware - LG-Philips LP171WU5 (used in HP 8730w DreamColor and Dell M6400 Covet). Apple sources a different LG panel as one option for its current 17" MBP glossy (LG-Philips LP171WU6) but there is no documentation available for that panel.
It would of course be interesting to hear what panel the Envy 15 uses - not to mention a look at it in person. Considering the claimed "60%" gamut it's likely a WLED panel. -

http://computers.shop.ebay.com/Driv...kw=ssd&_catref=1&_fln=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m282
And you get to keep the old HDD as a backup or sell it to regain the expense of the SSD. -
Kingston ones are the slowest ones, and Intel X-25 is one of the fastest, IIRC, but the OCZ are great $/GB
-
Interesting, wish Australia got the 25% off bing offer
Oh well!
-
The base price(!) for Envy 15 in Denmark (where I live) will be 2400 USD. And we dont get 25% off, if any % at all
-
25% Bing CB is up adn running. It works!
-
Where do you see that? I see 5% off right now.
-
can you post a link for 25% cash back? im only seeing 5%
-
also, if anyone comes across ANYTHING about the two models meant to be released here in Australia, please let me know!!! Really want to know if the higher model has got the 1080p screen or not.
-
-
yeah, I saw 25% too
-
Is DDR3 memory best with 3 Dimms as HP gives by default? I'm assuming that's DDR3's type of dual channeling or tripple channeling if you will? And why does 1366x768 resolution cost more than 1080p? Not that I'm complaining, but I do find that interesting lol.
-
No idea, perhaps a glitch??
Or all these laptops come preconfigured, and the change adds to the laptop, do to it being rebuild and adapted to carry the different res screen -

Ok all, took the plunge...

I don't need it. Just want to play with it. hahah Bubba - the first thing I want to know is what VRAM is in it -
So there aren't any reviews on the envy 15 to base my purchase off of right now? Not sure if I should pull the trigger.
-
Notice this: "Don't worry if you don't see the cashback symbol or savings when making a purchase at a store's website. We'll email you after your purchase to confirm your cashback." -

I just ordered the base $1799 15 incher, got the bing cashback $450 off, not bad, $1300 for a laptop with a quad i7 proc and 500gb hard drive loaded with 6 gb of ram and a hell of a video card.

hey hey hey!!
Dont mess with my Dell! lol
Nice Bubbamel!! I am still tempted to switch to the dark side. But I wont, Dell SXPS16 FTW!
EDIT: STOP IT STOP IT!! I wont change! WHat is your ETA Bubba? -
Bubba
I don't know if the 4830 is better or not, honestly.
It should be as it has double the amount of stream processors (640 vs 320). -
Wow with the bing cashback this is definitely a tempting deal, is it just me or was there an option for a smaller resolution on the 15" but they wanted $950 for it? lol
Is the 13" a good deal at all? I want a smaller notebook but what makes it so expensive as compared to the 15"? Why would I choose it over the other?
HP Envy 15? i7 meets 4830+15" screen!
