I had i7...maybe that's why. I also ordered about 1 hour later.
Honestly, I wish I had done i5 with the SSD. probably much better performance.
we'll see. sounds like you got it in 2 days from shipping. that's pretty fast.
-
yes, I chose free shipping and I live in oregon ,fedex is best carrier and always deliver as early as they can
Honestly , I don't recommend core i7, I owned gen 1 before, it was pain, but HP helped me return it w/o hassle
You may call their resolution center to explain your issue if it's over heated. they are so helpful and super nice!!! ( not Indian) -
Anyone got their $450 off Envy 15 yet? Any problems?
-
Slated to ship today but still listed as In Production. I was hoping it would be here Monday or Tuesday but it appears that's not going to be the case.
-
Mine hasn't shipped either and it was supposed to. I ordered within 2 hours of Yun and he got his yesterday. The good news is, Macbook Pro's arr rumored to come finally next Tuesday.
If that happens, I will gladly cancel and just get that. No design issues, bigger screen (17 inches). -
I don't know about no design issues. They just had a display problem with their 27" iMacs. I'm sure there will be small kinks to work out.
-
Not to mention, is the Macbook Pro 17" even in the same price bracket as these considering the discount most of us got?
-
A $1000 MBP? That'll be the day!
-
Yeah, I have zero interest in a MBP since a similarly spec'd one with ample SSD capacity would run ~$3200, twice the Envy15.
And that's still only a C2D and a far worse GPU. -
They are supposedly doing revisions Tuesday the 13th..in 4 days. And yep, it's more expesive, probably 800 more, but I get a perfect laptop and probably sooner than I'll get this HP Envy.
also no wild and crazy trackpad or volume change forcing you to alt-tab out of programs. -
Perfect laptop is quite a stretch. It will most likely just be a minor spec bump.
-
Apple makes pretty nice ones man. I have one now..it almost is perfect. With I7-620m as the chip--I'll be happy for a few years on it.
-
I'm not arguing that they are nice, or that they are well built. I myself own an older 13" macbook. But perfect is relative to the user. When it came time for me to purchase a new laptop I went with the envy for the discount and specs. I've had plenty of rainbow beach balls of death, zombie processes that wouldn't let osx shut down, and a harddrive failure which was not worth the high premium for a "perfect" laptop. Plus the 13" I have has the plastic plastic casing (not Al) which is chipping around the corners exposing the inside. Time will tell how well the HP holds up but so far so good.
-
The new macbook pros, would be perfect for me if they come out on tuesday as rumored. the deal only makes it 800 bucks cheaper and the larger screen and better battery life, and screen make it more perfect for my needs.
k? -
Whoa, my Envy15 shipped. Ordered last Sunday, 4 Apr.
-
Weird - mine was April 2nd but still in production (as are some 3/30s, by the looks of it). Who knows....
-
if it helps, I got a i7 720, 4GB, 2xSSD, 1080p matte
-
. I ordered on the 29th. had a i7-720 too. no dual ssd tho.
they are probably doing it by total value, not who ordered first.
so tacky. -
agreed - i only upgraded the monitor to ultrabright and external drive and its still in production. ordered on 3/31 =/
-
Unlikely. Mine was $1675 with the coupon and it hasn't shipped from 3/30 either.
-
That was when the $450 coupon was out.. probably tons of buyers in a short period of time.
-
if he had 2 ssds and i7 he paid a lot more than that. so yeah--pretty likely. he ordered april 2...
-
My order from 3/31 ~9:30PM shipped, it just left Shanghai, ETA 4/15, this was the free shipping. Not bad.
I highly doubt HP prioritizes order based on dollar amount. My order was $1050 before tax, only 1080p matte screen and the 9cell slice. I have another in production from 4/6 with 1080p Brightview and SSD. Let's see how fast that one gets shipped. -
Couldn't help noticing your XPS ozu with the 8400M. Have you had the NVIDIA bug hit you yet? It killed my Inspirion 1420 about a month ago which has lead me to the current envy purchase.
-
Mine was 2100 or so with the coupon and tax.
-
i don't think dollar value has anything to do with the ship date. i ordered an i5 envy 15 on 4/1 (~$1060 with coupon) and it shipped from shanghai on 4/8, ETA 4/15. if anything, it likely depends on the hardware configuration.
-
The M1330 has been very good to me. My only issues with it are the 1280x800 resolution (which I knew going in) and any slight taxing the GPU receives will guarantee 80 degree C readings and up. It runs hot.
Haven't decided if I'm keeping it or giving it to the girlfriend to replace her busted Macbook yet. -
I ordered mine on the 30th, still waiting for email.
I got i5 540, 4gb, 1080, 320gb
maybe they have a shortage on traditional hdd but have a ton of ssd's. I noticed that you guys that have confirmations, ordered ssd's.
Just a thought. -
Dual SSDs in mine and not shipped (ordered 4/2). Glossy screen here.
-
I ordered mine on 04/01 & it still hasn't shipped. All this wait time is killing me, I just hope it doesn't come with issues.
Envy i5: i5-540M, 4GB DDR3, 500GB 7.2k HDD, ATI 5830, 15.6" Glossy -
ordered 30th
520 4g 320gb 15.6 matte shipped on 7th -
Not sure it's the HDD vs. SSD holding it up - I've got a 500GB 7200 RPM in mine and it already shipped. I did get the matte 1080p screen though, didn't notice if there was a pattern there. Maybe it's a Brightview screen shortage?
-
could be brightview. i ordered the 30th and that's what i had.
-
Yes the screen is a possibity, I ordered Brightview as well. Still no email or update as of yet.
-
Looking forward to some feedback on these when you guys get it because a $450 coupon makes me wonder if HP is just trying to get rid of their "defective" Envy 15s quickly. Hopefully I'm wrong.
-
I ordered one for a family member and it shall be here soon. However, I don't think HP is trying to get rid of stock, they always seem to release coupons at random intervals for the various laptops.
-
I'm in your boat as well. Still in production two days after the estimated day of shipping.
I know people love to about Dell but I've ordered 6 machines from them in the last 15 years and they've all come WAY, WAY, WAY before the estimated deliveries.
I'll give this a few more days. The MSI GX640 reviews that have come out are really compelling. -
Not to sound contentious but I don't believe that s the case. That $450 coupon was usable for any of their laptops as have the past $300 and $250 off coupons. HP releases coupons every so often...no big deal.
If anything, this should tell you what the margins of profitability are on msrp prices. -
Rengsey R. H. Jr. I Never Slept
I'm going to call and cancel mine tomorrow. 3 days past the estimate ship date.
-
Is it normal for HP to charge CC before the item ships? I originally assumed when I ordered that it would charge upon shipping but I checked my CC today and I was charged April 8th (balance shows the charge is there and its not a pending charge). Order status on HP.com's page doesn't show that it has been shipped. Estimated ship date on the 15th.
-
I doubt you can call to cancel now, it's way too late into the process. I'm sure they'll tell you to refuse the package delivery or whatnot. It's odd, my Envy 15 for my family was shipped off a few days ago (and about a week earlier than the original estimate.)
-
Try and get another 100 bucks off for missing the deadline.
i bet it's the glossy screens. -
I doubt HP will regard it as a deadline. It's an estimate.
As for Dell, yeah, my previous orders from them have been very fast, but apparently SXPS 16's have been delayed for up to two months off and on between last November and now. -
well the leverage is they lose a sell. doesn't matter if its a contract or not he threat is to return it.
I'd rather get one of the macbook pros anyway. those may hit this week -
I saw this in Logic Buy and it looks interesting the way they displayed it:
http://www.logicbuy.com/deals/hp-envy-14-laptop/19987.aspx -
Is it possible to call and cancel the order? Mine is three days passed shipping date as well and I'm tired of waiting for the email, on top of that they already charged my card.
-
Not at this point, no. They'll tell you to refuse delivery when it arrives.
-
Yes this is absolutely the case. I've ordered 3 Envy's, first one regretted the matte screen and no SSD (my friend is buying it from me, on Fedex truck right now), second one order canceled by mistake (by me), third one ETA 4/15. My CC was IMMEDIATELY charged on all 3 orders, not just an authorization to reserve the funds from your CC. This gives a lot less time to float - I'd have to pay off the two Envys on this statement instead of the next
Of course this doesn't matter if you regularly carry a balance. My wife will have my head if I carry any CC balance
Dell only charges the CC after actual shipment is made. -
Not true.
I've heard of people calling and even tho they say they can't cancel it -they can.
They don't have the glossy screens so there is plenty of time to cancel.
Worst comes to worse they offer you a discount so you don't cancel. The more people call to complain, the more likely a discount is offered. -
Hm, interesting. I hadn't heard of anyone able to cancel after the laptop went into production.
