HP Envy 15 - $450 Coupon of $1399

Hm. So my laptop left Shanghai the other day and arrived in Alaska today. I live in Hawaii so it has to fly down here now. Sad.

450 off coupon is expired but you could try calling HP and see if they will give you the same deal since it was so recent.

I don't know about the delayed laptops getting automatically expidited shipping. I called to complain to HP about the delay and I asked for expedited shipping and, after 15 minutes on hold while the rep spoke to the order fulfillment department, I was told that there was no chance of having my shipping upgraded. And to add insult to injury the coupon I got via email was for just $25, not the $50 everyone here is talking about.

 

the CSR i spoke to gave a $50 refund not a coupon, which halved the cost of my CPU upgrade. spoke to them last week and it was credited to my CC today.

 

I guess I lucked out. The rep gave me 100 off my laptop (already refunded) and they even gave me 50 for the hp store (already spent)

 

No luck) CSR said that the coupon expired and did not try to do more than that. So, I guess i'll wait and see if it comes back again.

The next closest laptop to the Envy is the (as everyone has been saying) the MSI GX640.. it has a more powerful GPU but weights more and is slightly thicker. Costs less and has a 3 year warranty standard.

Dude they told me mine was coming Monday but it came the Friday the week before.. Don't sweat it. It may arrive quicker than you think

 

Mine was also delayed until the 21st (430m, glossy).. called them up and got them to refund me $50 in addition to the $25 coupon (anything worthwhile I can get from the hp store?). Can't complain about getting money back, but you'd think they would have determined they had shortages 2 weeks ago when they received so many orders.

 

I'd bet it'll still be Friday. My first one did that but on a Wednesday and it was there Monday - yours is a day ahead (mine is too, same shipment).

So I just got the email canceling my Bing CB. Did you guys call 866-288-1610 to get a $50 discount? If so how did you go about getting the discount? Any tips?

 

Did you use the $450 coupon? If so, you won't get Bing CB anyway.

 

I used their 1-888-999-4747 number and went to their return and exchanges department. What I did was talk to the Indian person with the fake American accent and asked them what was up with the delay (try to sound displeased to be safe).. then they'll tell you about the $25 coupon, etc.. Throw in a threat to cancel if that's all you get for the inconvenience and they'll forward you to their resolutions dept... hold for a few minutes and then the supervisor will offer you the $50 refund. I didn't go for anything else, but you might have luck.

 

I remember in this thread or another HP envy thread on these forums where someone got a $50 discount by calling up the rep about their Bing CB being denied.

 

Just be nice about it when talking to the rep. I called HP and told them I just received the email about the delay and asked her (nicely) what is was about.
She apologized about the delay and didn't say much else. I just asked her when I should be expecting it if there is a delay. She said within 7 days, then I just calmly said I was really expecting the laptop in the next day or two (I ordered 3/30) and just told her I really need a laptop for school and I can't have my funds tied up. I think I am going to have to cancel and just buy a laptop locally. She offered me 100 back and I just acted confused but said, ok. I told her If I don't get the email in 1 day (today) I'm going to call back and finalize the cancel. Anyway to make super long story long, I got the email for my tracking number, expected 4/16. Right under that email was another from HP offering me $50 for the HP store, the rep didn't even tell me about it! I just saw it in my inbox. On top of that HP already credited my account $100. They were slow with the laptop but man are they fast at saying thanks for be a loyal customer, here's $150 for your troubles. Can't complain about that. I was really going to cancel the laptop but I thought about it, " I just saved about 650 bucks on this laptop, should I really return it because I am being an impatient little child"? I can wait a few extra days.

 

Truth be told the delay was not that bad but the real reason is I want a 17 inch 1920 x 1200 screen. Apple is the only place I can get that in a 6 pound package and they just updated their machines..

The Apple GPU BLOWS CHUNKS compared to the ATI 5830 but the form factor, screen size, backlit keyboard, and support are much better than apple. I have a 720m with 5830 and HP brightview and got 150 total off my order plus 450. So the net is like 1300. But It has to go back because I love those 17 inch screens... The gpu 330m from Nvidia is crap but it's not like I play a lot of FPS games. Just mild strategy games.

Call me crazy. go ahead.

Well my MBP with tax (I hate tax), is 2600. So like 1150+ more.
but it's so sexy looking.

and yeah was thinking about reselling instead too. maybe pay for part of the mac tax.

FYI - i also called in and was able to get $90 knocked off. I am not really sure why they are giving out so many discounts (trying to get rid of inventory for new refresh?) but getting an envy 15 for $1,000 (including CA tax) base w/ ultrabright and external drive as my only upgrades is pretty damn good bang for the buck, even after the new models come out...

altho im still glad ill have that 21 day safety net haha.

 

I checked on ebay what the envy would go for if I sold it. It would be maybe 1300 for it. My gross is 1479 and I got 100 off plus 50 coupon for delay.

I think I'd be lucky to get what I paid for it and it would just be too much hassle.

Bing cashback policy state clearly if you use coupon , your cash back will void

But if you really care about 50 cash, you may try to call HP resolution center and keep crying in phone, I'm pretty sure those nice reps may give you some back

Ok so my laptop went from Shanghai China -> Anchorage Alaska -> Oakland California.

I ordered mine on 3/31 and it's been delayed from the 12th to the 21st so I tried calling to see if they would offer me the 50 bucks and i got no such luck.

Maybe I'm too nice? heh. The only thing they said was they would put a note in to make sure it gets shipped as soon as possible.

 

So it looks like I will be getting my laptop past the 4/16 delivery date as well. Adjusted to 4/20. Hp decided to send my laptop all the way across the globe instead of over the Pacific Ocean. It is now in ALMATY KZ. I wonder why they changed the shipping route. Last time I got a laptop from HP, it went from China to Alaska to Memphis Tn, and finally to California.

Hey guys did any of you that wanted to hop on this deal and missed out make a purchase from ebay on the similar deals? I have never bought an expensive item let alone a notebook from ebay and wonder how the warranty/etc works and if there is anything to worry about. Thanks!

Hrmm, I hadn't run across the MSI GX460 before I placed my order the the Envy 15. Since my Envy has been delayed until the 21st I'm seriously considering canceling the order and grabbing the MSI.

Roughly the same price

Pros:
Faster GPU
Would probably ship and arrive faster
More USB ports, 2 on the left side
Included optical drive (I like this)

Cons:
A little more expensive
Lower resolution screen (I had opted for the 1080p upgrade on the Envy)
Thicker and heavier (these are minor considerations for me)


Am I missing anything from those lists?

 

I keep hearing that this deal is going to be available again soon. Any word on that?

 

Nobody knows for sure. $450 don't come by too often. But you should see a $300 or something soon.

 

I'm not sure where you would've heard it with any authority. I don't think anybody here can say with any certainty when the next coupon will show up, or for how much.

I am one day past estimated shipped date. No delay notice. I tried calling HP and they are clueless. I guess we shall see what happens.

 

My estimated ship date was the 12th. I didn't get an email from HP till late last night. New estimated ship date is 21st. I wouldn't get your hopes up too high..

 

figures. Well I am probably going to return the laptop, so if I do get the delay, I will probably just cancel.

 

In light of my discovery of the MSI GX640 and the delay in my HP Envy 15 shipping I have canceled the order with HP and ordered the MSI from Buy.com.

A tip for those of you who are willing to wait for the HP. When I called to cancel the HP I calmly stated I wanted to cancel the order. The initial woman I was speaking to offered me a $100 credit not to cancel the order. I declined her offer and she stated that she needed to transfer me to the 'resolution' department where the guy I spoke to offered me a $150 credit not to cancel my order. Although tempting I still canceled my order, I need my new laptop faster than HP can provide it.

So, you may be able to persuade a $150 credit out of HP by threatening to cancel your order. I was never mean or rude, just matter of fact with them. Worth a try perhaps.
