Is it possible to call Hp and get the build process expedited?

Just got my Envy 15 (custom build) ship notice!!! Link to FedEx tracking number status isn't working yet.
Yes, I ordered on Sunday Oct. 18 and had Oct. 28 as the "will ship on" date. Not sure yet if I'll get it Thursday or Friday, I hope Thursday. -
-
mine just shipped too

AUSIES!
Just got a call from my Harvey Norman shop at Chatswood Chase. 2 Envy 15-1021 has just arrived! Going to get mine NOW!
If anyone wants to get the other one, speak to Joe. Mention that Dane (6555) on the Notebookreviewforum sent you! -
Did you guys buy on the 20th?
-
EDIT: And my Bing Cash Back shows 50 days pending, which would make sense. Available on December 17. -
Nope, we ordered on the 18th.
I recieved my first email on the 18th at 3:36pm. Haven't got a shipment notification yet. -
Well congrats, i'm looking forward to all your reviews when you get them on Friday! I really hope I didn't make the wrong choice choosing this over the other lappies.
-
I don't have anything yet. I did upgrade to Win 7 Pro, so hopefully that doesn't delay mine.
-
Bing.com has 10% cash back on Envy 15 at the moment for anyone interested. At least for people in California it covers tax.
-
Did you manage to get it for anything less than RRP ($3299)? -

I am really tempted to pull the trigger but have not decided which model to choose. I saw the spec sheet that some HP consultant had fired off, claiming that the less expensive model only featured a low res screen.
The same spec sheet claimed that the high-end model (the one you are buying) was equipped with four 2GB DIMMs, making it necessary to buy four new 4GB DIMMs to achieve 16GB RAM.
Also, I would be very interested to hear your opinion on the "Glossiness" of the screen as I have a quite strong preference towards matte type of screens. -
It is a problem that the ram configuration is not 2 x 4 GB. I plan on upgrading to 16Gb so it would have been nice to only have to purchase 2 x 4 rather than 4 x 4.
I would be interested if Dane could confirm in the BIOS to see what the ram configuration is, if the specs are right I will be disappointed -
My launch day custom-from-HP Envy 15 has shipped today (er...yesterday?). I hope I'm not in for a disappointment, after all the "E2E Glass" issues.

I think I'm going to wait for a new version of the Envy 15, one that has better port selection, better wifi card, etc. I'm sure the next release will be really something. Congrats to all you who have yours or are going to get it. At least you know that what you got beats the crap out of a MBP (I love bagging on Apple simply because they charge ridiculous amounts of money for their laptops and pretty much everything else they sell). However, if someone does figure out how to OC it without it exploding and easily rig it with 2 hard drives, I might just change my mind....

Got mine shipped too

No one commented on the questions in my earlier post regarding a different HP product that seems to do the same thing and has more info about it. I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone on whether they think this should work to connect the Envy 15 with a VGA projector--thanks in advance.

I disagree with several earlier posts saying that the slice battery is poorly designed. Please read on, and I hope you can get a picture from my words of how I think it was designed to work:
I tried it out again tonight at Best Buy and I think it's well thought out. I think it was designed to remove easily by sliding the laptop left (or right; I forget which) while the rubber feet keep the battery in place on the desk surface. Conversely, it's easy to attach the battery by setting it on a desk surface then sliding the laptop toward the right (or left; again, I forget, so whatever is opposite of the above). This worked flawlessly, was very natural in feel, didn't require touching the two locks (or even looking at them!), and was a heck of a lot easier than what I tried a few days ago, which involved flipping the laptop over and balancing the whole unit upside down on my palm or on the desk surface then fiddling with the two sliders. The only way I got it to start to separate was if I slid the laptop + slice across the tabletop; but as it started to separate my fingers (on the left and right sides of the keyboard) felt this and I simply compressed my grip lightly joining the pair again and continued to move as a unit.
I view this design as a great feature, not a problem as others have posted, but perhaps they discovered some other use case that I didn't.
Anyway, I just wanted to add that view to the mix.
Thanks,

Hey guys,
Busy at home typing on my ENVY! Woot!!
No slice in the box... I will have to buy that one later. Screen is fantastic - Really bright. It is bezel style though. The computer is fairly warm, the warm part is up on the top left hand side.
Its really quick!!!
Ask questions, I dont quite know what else to say at the moment! -
just checked the ati catalyst control centre. Graphics ram is DDR3 NOT GDDR3
-
Can you check this? -
thanx beforehand -
-
another note. The bottom of the envy is really quite hot! Definately would not want to keep it on your lap
-
-
8gb ram
ext cd drive
no slice
So far so good! -
-
na. should let hp know for the next envy
-
That one seems to work too. Pretty unbelievable (HDMI->VGA in general), if you ask me, but it does seem to work.
Please report back if you get that one. I might want to get one too, just in case. -
Would you please run Belarc Advisor on your system (free download from www.belarc.com)? It will tell you what DIMM-slots are occupied and the size of the DIMM-modules. -
-
-
-
The standard Belarc report (if they have not changed it) would list the memory information on first page of the Computer Profile Summary report, under the heading "Memory Modules" (third paragraph on the right side). There it would tell you how much total memory your system had, followed by telling you the sizes of the individual installed DIMMs.
Could you perhaps try Everest instead? -
Has anyone received their orders from HP.com yet?
-
I see some of you guys got email confirmation from hp. Still waiting for my confirmation
-
-
-
You can tell by the last vid that this is not a E2E screen.
-
whats the boot up time? can up open up the ram cover to see what slots are used, so is it 4x2gb or 2x4gb sticks? can u post some pics of yours up too? would like to see actual pics instead of press shots. thx -
I ordered mine at 3:36pm EST on October 18th and mine still hasn't shipped.
-
Has anyone found a laptop sleeve that fits these? I have not seen any that have the right width to depth ratio for these and I don't care for the way the 15" sleeve I have fits -- there is too much extra space in it.
-
i'm in the same boat, ordered mine on 10/18/2009 at 11:37:41 PDT, and it hasn't shipped... hopefully it does today...
-
Here are some CPUZ screenshots
-
SO graphics is DDR3 and not GDDR3, how many ppl are going to Jump boat? is it that bad?
-
The screenshot shows system memory type, not graphics memory type!
