Technically, there are none. Vista drivers work for most things. There are Win7 drivers for the video card. A few non-HP/HDX specific components have 7 drivers. There are plenty of posts in this thread that address the various drivers. The only component in DM that shows a problem has to do with Bluetooth for my Backberry Storm. Good luck and welcome.

Received my SSD and installed all my drivers, utilities, games and made a good image. I must say the SSD is by far the best upgrade I have done too my HDX. It really breaths new life into it. Everything is so zippy.

    Here are my Benchmark results:

I will also post my driver install order and versions used below.

I only had a few issues with the install. The first was the QuickTouch drivers. Firstly I did not install QuickPlay, I use PowerDVD 9 Ultra. That said all works with the Quicktouch drivers volume slider & bass/treble slider. The issue was with the On Screen Display (OSD). The same issue I had the first day I got my HDX. It would crash most of my games and get stuck on the screen. So per the instructions on page 100 of this forum I disabled it. This also disables the bass\treble slider, but the volume slider works just fine and is all I really need. Once I set the bass/treble I seldom change them again. If need be you can just open the volume properties from the taskbar and adjust the treble\bass.

That said the Quick Launch Buttons (QLB) work as expected. The first 3 which are QuickPlay dependent, and as I do not have QP installed they do nothing. The next four buttons work great with all media players I use. The Eject button does not work but that is because I have VMware workstation installed. Not sure why but when I install VMware it interferes with the eject button.

*EDIT* I am not sure what happened but I am now able to use Windows Media Center with no issues. I can watch TV, record, and even see a TV guide of all the channels I am able to receive. I even tested HD Cable With my FIOS and that works seamlessly as well. Maybe I just needed to reboot a few more times? :)

All other drivers installed problem free.

Ok, now for the procedures I followed for a fresh install of Win7 Ultimate x64. I used many different post on this forum to put this all together. I based it on the driver choices and install orders that worked for others, I then modified it to what I hoped would be the best order and newest version of drivers. To make sure credit goes where it belongs I will post the links to all the post I used to compile this info.

My Windows 7 Ultimate x64 install order and Drivers used:

I made sure before install to disconnect the LAN cable and as soon as Win 7 installed I disabled the Wi-Fi card. This is to prevent any accidental Microsoft driver installs.

All drivers that I say to use the "Original Driver" for can be found on this page:

Many of the links below came from this post (Latest drivers: HP dv6 Quad / dv7 Quad / dv8 / HDX16 / HDX18 (INTEL)):

    *Update 4/23/10*
The above link also has the latest "Intel Rapid Storage Technology (SATA AHCI)" I recommend using them. Most get better drive performance with then. Also as of version 9.6.0.1014 they support Trim for SSDs that are not part of a RAID.

In order to get the driver to properly install I had to download the driver from the HP website and then run it in Vista computability mode. Oddly I could not so this with the driver that was in my SWSetup folder that came with my computer.

just an update on this, I was able to get the wii to show up using beyondTV, but it has a very slow response time. moving the cursor lags about 5-6 seconds.

    Anyone else tried this?

Hi! You're right... almost all drivers worked after I installed them. In fact, almost everything in my HDX is working fine right now... except for my Blu-ray Drive, which doesn't recognize Blu-ray discs, only normal cds and dvds. I'm trying to find a driver or something, because in HP's driver download page there are none for this issue.
    My HDX is a HDX9399SX.
    Thanks for your help.

You will have to search this forum, as I know they solved that one some time ago. I think it has to do with QuickPlay or another program that you would use for blu-ray playback. I hope that helps.

If you have Windows 7 it's SUPPOSED to come with built it Blu Ray support no? Or was it just Blu Ray ripping. This says Windows 7 can do MT2S:

    http://a8t8.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!2518DD508BB713E8!240.entry

This post there's a link for a free Blu Ray player: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=169232&page=849

I guess you're having driver issues? With Vista you'd have to update the QuickPlay player from within it when it would ask you to update. If you need it I can post the latest QuickPlay exe I think it was 3112 or 3117 as the latest for Vista or something, but don't know if it would work for Windows 7.

I don't think it's a driver or a QuickPlay issue. The drive can read cds and dvds... it's the blu-ray discs that can't be read. Back when I had Vista Ultimate 64 bit I had this same problem once. I solved it by cleaning the lens with rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab. It worked great. But this time I have the same exact problem but the cleaning doesn't solve it. I also downloaded PowerDVD 9 (Trial) and it still doesn't recognize Blu-ray discs.
    Any help would be appreciated!

I had this problem before as well, but with Vista and it was how the driver "took". I tried everything and it seems like something got messed up with how the driver installed or something.. I had to reformat, install it with the Anti Virus and Firewall off, do all the internal updates, and then it FINALLY worked. I reformatted several times and each time it wouldn't work until I disabled the AV and Firewall while installing. Now I know to have that be one of the first things I do after reformatting. There are other solutions I can't remember, but if I find them I'll post them. It may have to do with how some filters get messed up. I dunno, but that helped my situation without having to clean anything. It works fine now.. If you're under warranty you may want to ask HP? Otherwise this is what they had me do a while ago: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929461#appliesto. Don't know if it would help you but it may be something you can try if all else doesn't work.

I have the latest driver, as far as i know, for my nvidia geforce 8800 video card.
I'm not having problems related to video. In fact, everything seems fine in my HDX after I installed Windows 7. The only problem is the drive not reading Blu-ray discs.
After reading through a lot of forums with people with the exact same issue I finally found one guy that managed to solve the issue.
He had the same problem after installing Windows 7 64 bit from a perfectly working Vista 64 bit: the blu-ray drive would read everything BUT blu-ray discs.
He used the recovery partition to roll back to Vista, made sure the Blu-ray drive worked with blu-ray discs and then UPGRADED to 7. That way he was able to keep the blu-ray drive working ( Here's the forum, it's post #36).
I'm willing to try that if it works, because right now I'm out of ideas...

Yes, but unless things have changed, Blu-ray will not run on an unofficial, non-WHQL driver. Lot easier to verify which driver you are running than go through all that other stuff. :)

That's it! I'm done trying to play Blu-ray discs in my HDX ever again. I restored it to factory settings using the recovery discs I created when I first got it and it still won't read or even recognize Blu-ray discs.
Looks like I'll have to change the drive or something, but as of right now... I'm officially surrendering... :(
I was planning to buy a PS3, though... looks like I'll have to buy it to be able to watch blu-rays...

JuanE, sorry you can't get the blue ray to work, did you try the fix above?.....

To further clarify my post (two above) I bought my HDX in Hong Kong, so the model numbers are a little different. It is badged as the HDX 9008 TX. It has the T7500 Duo [email protected] GHz (I am trying to replace this with an x9000, if possible) and the product number is given as GS113PA. It lists max memory as 4096, which is where I am now.

Can I go to 8192? (2x4096) I'm not sure if this is a limit in the chipset, or when it was launched, there were no 4 Gig single sticks so it is untested. Can anyone help me with this? Also, if anyone knows for sure that the x9000 will work with the switchout listed in this forum, please confirm.....Thanks guys.

When 2,0 comes back there's something he can suggest you try which I'm trying to find for you but haven't yet. The thing I had to do to get it to work was take out the hard drive, put it in an enclosure, run a Windows deep/longer format, put it back into my HDX did the recovery DVD install and it worked, and has worked since then. I'm thinking it was either some error, corruption possibly, or driver issue. Once I did that it and everything else worked perfectly. Something you may want to try if you already have an enclosure and already did a recover dvd. Either way an enclosure can run you around 10 bucks and is WAY cheaper than having to buy a whole other device to run Blu Rays. If you would have waited 2.0 could have suggested that thing I'm trying to find for you but forgot what it was.

Time to replace your Malaysian drive. Sadly HP chose a cheap source for the blu-ray drive to install in such a great model.
Recommend a genuine and fully Made in Japan drive, avoiding all other SE Asian sources.

I was wondering where was 2.0 :p ... I guess he's on vacation. Maybe he'll have an idea when he comes back, like you say! Look like there's still hope for this blu-ray drive after all...

ok so either my bd-rom is failing or I dont have the right firmware/drivers under Windows 7... I can't seem to burn any dvd with any software....reads dvd's fine...

Anyone know where to find the newest, most updated drivers for the Mat$hita BD-CMB UJ-120 drive that is in the HDX 9494nr?

Every dvd burning program I try, the process fails, even copying/burning directly under Win7 to the drive fails. I should note that the error that appears is a "power calibration error" under Nero. So the burning process doesn't actually ever begin...

    Any leads?

I have also burning problem with UJ-120. Problem is caused by media type used. I've read Imgburn forum (Imgburn is a software I'm using for burning) and not every CD and/or DVD media will be working with each drive. In my case I have problem with DVD+DL media only. I'm able to burn on Verbatim DVD+DL but have power calibration error with TDK. Please try different CD and DVD media first as I'm able to burn TDK,Verbatim CD-R and CD-RW but also TDK,Verbatim DVD-R and DVD+R.

Your drive is broken! There is no new firmware for MATA BD-CMB UJ-120
    in conjunction with the HDX.
Himself had 3 faulty drives these types.
    1. CD AND BlueRay ok. Poor detection while DVD read. DVD write very badly. At some point, not write more possible.
    2. CD, DVD and BlueRay read ok. CD write ok. DVD writing with abortions. Subsequently, total failure of the drive. (no detection in OS)
    3. Same error as you. (see signature HDX9480) read by BlueRay No longer possible. Occasional write errors on the DVD.

At the 3rd I've been waiting over a month to spare from HP. But Insist on replacement by a Optiarc_BD_ROM_BC-5500A. (see also Signature HDX9350)

Never again MATA BD-CMB UJ-120 !!!!! 3x stress and it is seeking more errors in the OS.

To everyone here a wonderful new year! :)

Cool thanks. So is there any difference between doing it this way and the way I stated via Windows format software? No way you can accidentally format the OS you're working in right? :) If I could make that mistake I likely would. I don't always get enough sleep.

After 1000 new installaions (not really cause i used Acronis) and 200 variations
    here is what i have.

    Comments:
    1. The TV button is not working. There is still a unknown device in Everest. A Keyboard Filter - maybee thats
    the TV button?

    2. I can't install HP Integrated module with Bluetooth wireless technology.
I see no Bluetooth in the device manager and if i try to install the driver i get the message that it
    can't find a Bluetooth device. I also tried SP44774 for Win7.

    3. Quick Launch Buttons from Windows update do not work.

    4. If i disable the QuickTouch onscreen (HPKBDAPP.exe) i have only + working on treble and bass. - does not work.
Its the same if i use the new QuickTouch (SP38358 - the one that came without onscreen for x64).

    5. With the new Synaptics TouchPad Driver (v14.0.3) from synaptics.com the touchpad off button does not work.

    6. Still under Win7 and with the last VMware Workstation version, VMware Workstation breaks the eject button.

I tried al lot of combinations and install orders, also what other people here did, but the TV button wont work.
I don't know why this buttons, especially the eject button, are so buggy.
I thing a lot of people are not useing QuickPlay. So it would be great to find somebody who can do drivers.
Something that give us the possibility to map what we want to the buttons would be cool.
So i would to: QuickPlay button = Windows Media Center, DVD button = Media Player Classic Home Cinema and TV button = ProgDVB

i think there is some confusion here. earlier you were stating about formatting the hard drive before redeployment, correct? but that putting it in an enclosure instead of doing it through the windows disk.

and then i was and am saying that the best way to wipe every sector is with a disk you have boot at startup, before windows would even load, and run independantly from any other software, in order to wipe every sector (as i clearly said before) of the hard drive, effectively wipin the mbr and all clean.

so i am confused as to why it sounds like now you would WANT to NOT format the os, yet still format the hard drive? contradictory.

How to raise a Dragon from the dead (or bios recovery procedure for HDX Dragon):

This was discovered after MUCH trial and error!

    1. Download latest bios from HP and extract to a folder.

    2. Extract either NV.cab or ATI.cab depending on your graphics card.

    3. Open the ver.txt file and look for the string after '_ROM_' (for F.40 bios it was '68DVD').

    4. Rename Rom.bin to 68DVD.BIN

    5. Copy the 68DVD.BIN file to a freshly formatted (not bootable) floppy.

    6. Remove battery from HDX.

    7. Plug a USB floppy drive into the HDX and place the floppy with the bios file in it.

    8. Hold down Win and B keys and turn on the power.

    9. Release keys when floppy is accessed.

    10. Sit back and wait about two minutes for your HDX to rise from the dead!

This would probably work with a CD too - the Win-B also accessed the CD driver after checking the floppy.

Oh ok I see what youre saying, it works from a boot vs just clicking on something equivalent to say a Computer Management screen. I always have 2 hard drives in the HDX, so to use this method from Derik can you select which hard drive you want to format over another since you're doing it from boot or does it automatically format both? I've never used it so I don't know how it works. I guess in the posts related to Blu Ray I would have to format the OS I was working in, so yea that made no sense lol. I guess I was more so wondering for myself where I may need to format a particular OTHER hard drive not the one I'm using so I could perhaps put Windows 7 on it, if you can easily select which hard drive you want to do a long format for as opposed to another one or what not. If that makes no sense either just skip it lol I haven't slept in days.

If you look at my post on this page, post# 8954:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=169232&page=896

I have everything working execpt the first 3 QLB buttons on the left because I do not use QP. There are no unknown devices. I only had 2 minor issues that have to do with how I use my Dragon.

    1. The QT OSD was interfering with most of my games so I disabled it and now the Bass/Treble buttons do not work. It is still adjustable in the sound settings.

    2. The eject button worked until I installed VMWare Workstation. There is some kind of conflict of VM drivers.

ya Dominick, dban is for securely wiping hard drives. it is totally interactive or if you choose for it not to, after the initial screens. you can choose the hard drive, wipe method, how many times, the prng, all of that.

here is a youtube video clip that shows what it looks like.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwCCim2V_Jw&feature=related
    skip to 2:50.

surprised you guys didn't know about this little gem to wipe drives.

    rep it! :D

    Hi everybody,

after hours of reading in this GREAT forum, I did not find my problem with my HDX. Hopefully, anybody of you can help:

After a fresh installation of Windows 7 Home Premium (x64), the fan of my HDX is running all the time at a high level.

Does anybody know this problem. Some postings in this forum had the same problem, but no solution. :(

Everest tells me, that the temp of my cpu is always around 54-62 C.

I guess there is a program or driver, pushing the cpu all the time?

I am an advanced user, but not a pro ;-)

Thank you in advance and, as it is already the 12/31 in Germany: I whish you all the best for 2010!

Oh, I am sorry. All the information needed is in my profile, thought it would also be in my signature. Changed it, so now everything should be in my signature.

I have the newest BIOS which I found on the HP site (Which is F40). To overwrite the F40 with a F40 will not help, I guess? The F40 BIOS was already running with Vista and I had no problems.

I just booted the HDX (I am writing at another notebook) abd after 10 Minutes the CPU is already at about 50C.

In the system information I cant find a program, that uses the CPU to much, everything seems to be ok. So it is a driver or something?

    Thank you for your help!

Hello dermsh, unfortunately I have no solution for you.
    I write anyway.
There was only one Persohn here had a similar problem.
In this case, the HDX, but fell off the table before.
I write because your problem must be accurately described.
    Fans who exactly is affected?
CPU only? (due to temperature indication from you)
    Or CPU and GPU?
    Or maybe even just GPU?
( "GPU - remote site / CPU - DVD Drive page)
What does the task manager for CPU usage at idle?

Your statement suggests indeed more on the GPU temperature (54-62 C).
For the CPU is idle this would be a much too high value. "(normally about half as much)"
What is your GPU temperature at idle? (Measurement with GPU-Z)

The more accurate your information the better is to Define your problem!

(which HDX version / motherboard which version / model of video / which bios version / what GPU Driver?)

Please lead the program HW monitor. (in your case the best hwmonitor 1.15 64-bit. zip 64-bit, no install)
Listen closely to your fans here!
Is this a change in the speed?
But even if so, this is not a solution!
But perhaps it takes you, or us all closer to a solution.
Also you all the best for 2010!

("GPU - Fernbedienung Seite / CPU - DVD Laufwerksseite")

"(normal ca halb so hoch)"
Wie hoch ist deine GPU Temperatur im Leerlauf ? (Messung mit GPU-Z)

Je genauer deine Angaben umso besser lässt sich dein Problem eingrenzen!

(welche HDX Version / welche Motherboard Version/ welche Grafikkarte / welche Bios Version / welcher GPU Treiber ?)

Bitte führe das Programm HW-Monitor aus. (in deinem Fall am besten HWMonitor 1.15 64-bit .zip 64-bit, no install)

I see you've made a couple of grad data. I change my text but will not speak further. Always take with me a little longer. Sorry!

Wie ich sehe hast du grad ein paar Angaben gemacht. Meinen Text ändere ich aber jetzt nicht noch einmal. Dauert bei mir immer etwas länger. Sorry !

    Hi!

Need to be finished for New Year's Eve (or how we call it in Germany: Silvester).

Will reply with further information next year. So far: my "Porsche" has never fallen down but is more or less two years old, so I will check the "cleaning" idea. Had the same problem with another notebook several years before, perhaps it is the same?

    @dermsh

P6R4N0 described the same problem. Page 856 to 865th
    For example, this and this

That you had already read so determined.
At first he thought it was the CPU fan. But it was the GPU fan.
Unfortunately, he did not write, if he could solve the problem.
You and he have almost the same hardware. (ATI 2600 XT and motherboard)
    He has a you have a T7300 and T7500.
    Problem with him having WVista32bit.

    Write to P6R4N0 at home!
Or take contact tototrix! He had the same HDX and maybe he can help.

... after I read your new posts I save my other comments.

A W7 installation filthy no fans!
Too bad that you did not answer my other questions!

    Have fun cleaning!
