Use this " AuthenTec AES1610 version 8.4.2.0 A" Fingerprinter Driver.
The latest Personal Digital Persona Fingerprint Reader software is version 4.11.3805 then. 32bit / 64bit

    Now should work both.

That wasn't me. That was Elmerfud, the Fedora Linux on HDX expert who proposed such a thing.

I had the coax cable (for tv) plugged in -- I would assume that is what is being used as the FM antenna.

"Shiznitz" -- one of my cats names.
"Chiznitz" -- another cat (for "Cheeto")

I only speak to my cats in ebonics. I get weird looks when I take them to the vet and they ask the cat's name.

I like the idea of the old Smith Corona keys!! Instead of SC, you should look at the older style Royal.

interesting. nice for bad/windy environments, or when i wanna open up all the windows in the house. how has it worked for you. move around much?

as for the stickers, i imagine you didn't care about the size/alignment relative to your keys? as well, how is that working, ease of stickiness, residue when removed, glowworthiness, color, etc.?

    Not possible.

You can only update the system BIOS which contains the BIOS for the video card.

If you are on f40, then you are at the latest. However, if you are not, I caution you to be careful with that BIOS update. A fair number of people have lost their HDX's because of it.

...you might want to check out this link: http://www.myglowkeys.com/

the keys are already printed and you just stick them on...no need for surgical skill precision, even "shakey pete" couldn't mess this one up!

Nope, won't work. I recommend not even trying it. You can kill your HDX immediately. There is a way to recover your BIOS but if recovery doesn't work, you will have to send it back to HP. Doing that will likely mean you will lose your HDX and get a DV7 as a replacement.

I believe that the HDX keyboard is identical to that used on the DV9000.

    Keyboard: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Keyboard-fo..._Trackballs?hash=item3a58d71ad2#ht_6437wt_960

    Keyboard Protector: http://cgi.ebay.com/Keyboard-Skin-c...ultDomain_0?hash=item2a05b0be6a#ht_1901wt_941

    Hope this helps!

I've loved having the keyboard protector on because it makes typing easier, less slippery, well not slippery at all, and makes the keys feel more weighted and controllable when typing. I've tried typing without it and it feels weird.

It doesn't move at all, as it forms a seal over the keys especially with the glow in the dark stickers on top that hits the cover nicely. It almost forms a bond with the cover, much like if you put a really thin rubber glove and put it on a wet round object. Ok can't think of any other analogy, but it stays put because without "stickiness" it sticks to each of the keys by and large. Maybe I should say it sticks to enough of them so that the entire cover doesn't move. But I think the one I linked to may work even better based on it's description.

The glow worthiness through the cover is ok-pretty good, but without the cover you can see the keys a lot easier. Nowadays though since I type without looking at the keys, I don't know that I need to see the keys so much, except when maybe I begin typing or have the wrong feel on where the keys are at times.

Not much residue left when you remove the stickers. Any remaining can likely be taken off with a bit of alcohol or some other cleaner, perhaps even water and a little elbow grease. I'm finding I can kinda wipe it off with just a finger now that I tried it.

The good thing about the stickers is the letters are quite a bit bigger and thicker than the ones on the keys so that alone makes it easier to see them through the cover. Aside from that they appear quite a bit brighter than the original keys, maybe 4-5 shades brighter perhaps.

Oh I forgot to add that to make typing without looking at the keyboard MUCH easier is I put soft velcro on the keys I find that are hard to find without looking.. ie the enter key, arrows, right shift, right backspace, and left tab key. The only thing I don't like about that is when I close the screen it gets residue on the screen from the oils on my fingers. I'm thinking if I got a thinner velcro it wouldn't happen but other than that it's great.

I think that answers everything. Hope that helps.

Yea these are the ones I bought :) They give you two sets with each order from what I remember without getting up to check. You do have to cut many of the keys with scissors and place them right, but it's kinda fun to do that and challenging. It takes several hours to get them perfectly done. I've posted pics of them somewhere in the thread a long while back.

you can tell from the windows key it's a knockoff. not sure of the fit/finish if it's a knock off, but it's cheap.

    thanks for key info.

Though they are similiar, unfortunately the DV9xxx series keyboard are not compatible with the HDX. Different screw holes and the screw tabs at the top and bottom prohibit it from even fitting in.

It's the actual DV9xxx keyboard. Knockoff... hahahaha. :D

    knockoff...ya.

blonde moment..my brain read it as hdx9000 series.

speaking of key stuff, again, do you know what kind of keys the hdx dragon take? i don't need any...i really need to pop one off without ruining it, so i can get whatever crap is underneath it preventing it from "bouncing" properly...and be able to easily put it on again.

just need to know how much pressure/where, etc.

You ALMOST got me with that one. AFX... good one.

Considering the first one came out starting @ 2,999.99, that's not bad :D. While I don't agree with the "optional" dual bay (that should be a standard dammit lol) the rest of it sounds SWEET!!

no it's not a joke. 2.0 actually told me about this last week. he actually works for HP, but cannot legally say he works for them AND post on here (liability/legalities)...but I can, technically.

that's how come he knows everything about the hp's in general. he has been an engineer there for over 15 years. (sorry 2.0...i know some people know...i didn't mean to out you...let me know if you want me to remove this post).

that is what all the talk about a replacement to the HDX was about in the last couple of weeks. he wanted it to be a pleasant surprise. he would be in really big trouble if he released that info, before HP officially released it. I knew he planned on telling us.

He gave me an internal link to hp site where they have the promo video and the announcement to all hp reps.

They are due to post this on there regular website at the end of this week.

I thought it couldn't hurt to post the information at least. i will let 2.0 decide if he wants to share the link/video...i'm guessing he will make everyone else wait til this friday (official announcement on there regular website).

I'M SO EXCITED GUYS!!! WE HAVE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT NICKNAME TO CALL THE NEW AFX!!!:)

Humm... If this is true then HP is keeping an extremely tight lid on it. I just finished searching the entire Internal HP network (intranet) and called the few contacts I have in the retail side of HP and there is no sign of it.

Keep in mind though I work for the Enterprise services side of things so I have less access to retail kind of data. But I usual get an internal email a few months before a new product is released.

I hope this is real it would be pretty awesome. At the same time if this info is correct it would be a bit of an internal leak that HP might not like having posted on the web so soon.

I can confirm it's true. The new AFX is the brain-child of Raul Sood. Head of HP's Voodoo DNA products like the Envy line. There's a few more specs that many will be happy about.

That's really all I can say at this time. Stay tuned...

That would make sense he is the kind of person that could come up with this. It is also why I would not have info on it. It would be considered a Voodoo line even if it is sold under the HP name. I do not revive info on that side of things being I am an Enterprise Services person.

But knowing that he was behind this I was able to find some very "interesting" info. :D ;)

The location (if such a thing exist ;) ) would not be available to the general public at this time. In time, if such a thing exist, all will be reviled. Even I, who works at HP and has access to the HP intranet do not have such a link. It would be more for Reps and the such.

Patients is the key here.

Disclaimer: if I am gullible, you may not charge me guilty of above said 21.2" prank. Therefore, I am free to be gullible if I wanna:

Wait a sec!!! I just tawt abawt buffing my playboy HDX and there's something sexier walking down the clean room????? (really, I don't look at comps that way---or at least I think that)

Well, I'm gunnu need to recycle a few books for junior's new step-sib to have a place. But, @ UHD, I may need to wait on fusion cells before rigging my office's capacity for tachyon transistors (especially when the tide is in).

Waiting on details, those of you all-knowing..........but I am here to humor you as well............ :p
