Hey I bought my HP HDX16t back in Jan where they had this model that was pre-configured with pretty sweet specs with a great price. Now that ive learned that they have an even better graphics card, the 130M, do you think I could replace my current graphics card with it? And if so, is it worth replacing even though the 9600M with which everyone has been saying the 130M is 17% better than the 9600M?
Also is their a keyboard cover for this laptop? I havent found one yet.
Specs:
Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo (2.4GHZ)
4GB DDR2 Ram
nVidia 9600M GT
Vista 64-bit Home Premium
Intel AGN + Bluetooth

can the backlit keyboard be added on or not? I already have the HDX6t, was just curious if this could be upgraded.

So install for Windows 7 went smooth? All drivers installed? Any problems with use? I hate vista and was thinking about trying Windows 7. Houw about all other apps with Win 7? Any problems? Photoshop? Microsoft Office? etc etc any problems?
Looks like you can't really downgrade to windows xp, so I'm hoping win7 is good to go!

Hi guys?
I recently aquired a HP HDX 16 notebook PC with this configuration (intel c2d 7450@2133MHz, 4gb ram, 9600m gt, fujitsu 320gb hdd) an I have the problem mentioned in the title...I receive this error only when I'm surfing the web and I have a movie started in the same time (movie in kmplayer not an youtube movie or something like that). I thought the problem was related to vista so i instaled win7 but the problem persists.I use the same drivers on both OS's (the ones from the official HP website). I also tried several generic drivers from intel, nvidia sites but I still get the BSOD...the same BSOD every time that mentions the irql_not_less_or_equal error but does not point to any file that causes the error.
I ran memtest for about 3 complete passes and i got 0 errors, i also checked the disk for errors and it's clean. I tested these procedures with HP bios diagnostic tests al well and no error. Sistem temps are also good for a notebook, speedfan and everest report temps under 40 degrees C so I think that the problem is almost certain software related.
Please help me with this error, I'd really apreciate it...and please excuse my english -
Hi all. I've been noticing that my HDX16t keeps turning on every night at 9pm whenever I leave the computer to hibernate. I was wondering if anyone knows of a solution to fix this because it's been getting very annoying. Thanks!

Does the NVIDIA GeForce 130M that comes with the HP HDX X16 DDR2 or GDDR3?
-
ddr 2 sir!!!!!!

Regarding the sound settings - The treble and bass levels keep resetting to the default (0) after restarting. And that annoying Dolby effect keeps turning back on after it's been turned off.
Does anyone else have this problem? -
-
130m = Ddr3 System Memory.

Do you know if the hdx16-1050ev support SATA2 HDDs?
Does the 320GB it comes with is SATA2 or SATA?
Thanks!
PS: I'm planning to replace the 320GB disk with an SSD SATA2 disk...
Will there be any problems or will it work fine? -

I just wanted to take a minute out of my day to say thank you to the owners/administrators of this site and the users. I was not ready to buy a new computer financially at this time but after finding the great coupon codes and realizing that my current desktop is 6 years old in a couple weeks I took the plunge. Below is the HDX 16t that I ordered. I saved around $700 thanks to this site and everyone involved. My build date is May 4th and I can’t wait to make and then watch some HD movies of my new baby girl Mia that I recorded on my Canon Vixia HD camcorder.
And if someone on this site can let an inspiriting IT professional find a starting place for trade schools etc that would be great.

Hi.
Everest is reporting 540mhz core and 1350mhz to shaders on the stock 9600m GT. GPUZ reports the expected 500/1250. Anyone else? -

Can anyone else check with the last versión of everest?
In the GPU tab it reports 500/1250, but in the Vista Sidebar Gadget monitor it reads 540/1350/399

Every time I check their ship it out date its a closer date. But they gave me May 4thWhat a wait.
Any suggestions on first boot like. I.E. a lot of bloatware -
I personally didn't find alot of bloatware on mine so I let it be. -
-
Just do a clean install and you'll be fine. -
My total was right over $1700. Of course that was with WV Ultimate, a 7200 RPM hard drive, the backlit keyboard, an extra 12 cell bat, and office basic. Unlike you I didnt get the TV tuner and I hope that I will not regret it lol. I wanted to say that I didnt get one thing I wanted (makes me feel better lol). Of course the total includes tax as well.
I almost did get the 18 but backed out and figured I would just get a nice monitor. -
-
-
That is how my 1st one came and it looks like my replacement is doing the same. -
-
Did you guys buy the laptop directly from hp.com or from somewhere else?
Thanks!

I scrolled back quite a few pages to see what people thought of theirs when they got it. Didn't see much, so im curious to know what you all thought about your laptop when you got, how it is now, do you regret it? Things like that. Trying to get a little discussion in here going!

However, a few things had me worried. Mine came with a small defect. The touch sensitive part where all the volume and mute controls are. The plastic stuck out like a little hump. I could even push it back in with my finger but it'd pop right back. This hump resulted in making a mark on the screen when you closed the lid.
Also the wireless card is capable to connect to wireless N, which is double the speed of G. However, I tried to connect it to N with my router, a D-Link DI-855. It worked great for a few hours but then would disconnect. Never could get a stable connection.
Because of these issues, plus I wanted the TV tuner I didn't get, I returned mine and ordered a new one. The new one has yet to come.
Overall, its a great machine. I maxed mine out except for the Blu-ray burner. I figured that blank blu-ray discs would still cost a fortune. I did notice that the material used felt kind of cheap however. This is comparing to my old Dell Dimension 9100. It felt really plasticy for me.
A few things have me worried. Some have stated that the keyboard will start to make imprints onto the screen overtime. Another dude said his keys started to lose paint after 6 months. Also there is the dust issue. Dust tends to get into the screen and you can't take it out.
However, overall I have no regrets. I'll just baby mine and plan to use it indoors playing games only and use my cheapo $400 Toshiba for heavy use. -
I've an issue with my HDX16. It seems that the volume control as well as either the bass or treble control like to wander on their own at times. Is there a fix for this, or am I sending it in?
-
-
No, I mean they adjust without being touched. I can sit and watch the laptop's volume/equalizer change without touching anything electronic at all.
-
Keep me posted when you get your new one if you have same problems, if you want I can tell you if I have any and my thoughts on it when mine arrives
When it gets here ill have to start looking for a bag that fits snug so it doesn't flop around carrying around. -
Do you recommend this for college? Is it more portable than the 18t? I would be running this with a 12-cell. So any input for this notebook + college would be nice.
I want to render video with After Effects, so this is why I am considering the smaller HDX. Thanks. -

I'm wondering too about the hump. I'll see if my new one has it.
The laptop comes with a paper cloth thing between the keyboard and the screen when you get it. Just use that every time you close the lid. I didn't care cuz I was returning it anyway. But I could already see the imprint from the hump.
