I just ordered mine with the 30% off coupon. I saved 150$ extra over the $400 off deal from last week.

Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P8700 (2.53GHz)
FREE Upgrade to 4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm) from 3GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
FREE Upgrade to 320GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive from 250GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
    1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 130M
16.0" diagonal High Definition HP Ultra BrightView Infinity Display (1920x1080p)
LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
Webcam + Fingerprint Reader with HP Imprint Finish (Fluid)
    Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card
    No TV Tuner w/remote control
    Full Size Backlit Keyboard
    12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    No Productivity Software
HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

$1474 minus the $70 printer rebate. I feel a little guilty for splurging (this cost more than my flat panel tv and desktop combined) but hopefully I'm getting a good, powerful piece of hardware I can take around. I didn't get a blu-ray because I don't watch that many movies anyway, but I do game a bit. Maybe next time around I'll get it. Also, the warranty seems really expensive. I don't know if I should have gotten it or not. I decided not to.

Looks like a great setup to me. You got all the essentials. I opted for the 2 year warranty but yeah its alittle expensive. As for blu-ray I got read only. I don't think I'm gonna burn blurays as blank blurays are still high.

At first I thought the mouse was small because I was only used to regular size mice. But I have gotten used to it and I like it. For everyday use (web browsing, word processing, etc) I think it's fine, however, I wouldn't recommend it to a hardcore gamer.

What surface/pad are you using with this mouse? I think the mouse pad I'm using might be causing skipping.

Is the pad's surface plastic, rubber, or cloth? What about the color? I'm trying to determine whether I should get a different pad.

    Finally I bought a HDX 16t!!!
    So excited now!!

Anyway it's a refurbished unit; I'm just a poor student

    here's the specs:
    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P8400 (2.26GHz)
    3GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    320GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
    NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT
16.0" diagonal High Definition HP Ultra BrightView Infinity Display (1920x1080p)
LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
Webcam + Fingerprint Reader with HP Imprint Finish (Fluid)
    6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

Bought at ebay, after Live rebate is about $840.
Been comparing to HP direct after 30% off still run me about $1000+, and I don't like to wait more than week long.

Anyone has experience with HP refurbished laptop?

I have a question about the processor upgrade for the HDX. The ONLY upgrade I can afford is from the T6600 to P7450 ($50). Is this worth it? I don't want to spend that money if I don't need to. I'm just gonna be playing some not-so-graphics-intensive games and I may decide to delve into Crysis... Should I do it?

I would say go for it if its only $50 more. Crysis is one of the most demanding games specs wise so.

The HDX16 is considered as a premium laptop. It comes with stand things like the infinity display standard, which is an option for the dv6t. The d6 also uses cheaper AMD processors and has a crappier graphics card.

There are also options not avabile on the dv6 such as backlit keyboard.

The trick will be to create a U.S. mailing address using a remailer and have HP US send to a U.S. mailing address that will then send it on to you.

The problem will be that HP Canada will not recognize your warranty.

Well now I don't know if I should do the dv6t. I really want the backlit keyboard.... If I use the 30% of coupon or a better one I guess I can get the HDX for about the same price. It's prettier anyway.

Hello there I'm trying once again to find someone who could help me with the following issue:

I'm looking for someone who has a backup of the original MBR (Master Boot Record) of his/her HP HDX 16 - 1060 model (320gb Hardrive) made with the EasyBCD program.

The reason I'm looking for this is that because of installing XP and playing with partitions and boot options my recovery partition is not recognized anymore by HP software and it doesn't boot up when pressing the F11 button on startup. Vista boots instead. However, the recovery partition is still there because I tried setting it as the active partition and it functioned flawlessly. Made the complete recovery but it doesn't return the MBR to its original state.

So I'd very much appreciate if someone can provide me with the backup of the original MBR of their HP HDX 16 laptop (not altered). If someone has it already or is willing to take 15 min to make a backup you could let me know and I'd send you my email address.

    Thank you very much!

    Namik

Hello there guys...I believe I'm going to get myself an HDX 16t soon...that's why I'm posting my queries in here...hope to get the right answers soon...

First of all...I'd like to know about the real battery life of this laptop. I'm hearing and reading lots of bad things about it and want to make sure. How much time does the (6 cell) battery actually give? Can it be enough for using wi-fi and surfing the net (not doing anything else) for 2:30-3:00 hours?

And secondly...does the 9600M GT that comes with this laptop contain DDR3 memory or DDR2? I'm kinda confused about it seeing the vista score on graphics.

    http://www.notebookreview.com/picture.asp?f=39469

Actually one of my cousins owns an ASUS G1S-B1 which contains an 8600M GT with 256 MB DDR3 memory and it gets even better scores in vista (5.5 for aero and 5.9 for gaming).

So please enlighten me on these things.

    Thanks guys...

HP is offering a free upgrade for the Blu-Ray ROM right now. I just ordered mine on the 12th when it wasn't free. I called them tonight and they credited the difference back to my credit card. I saved an extra $110 and got it for $1093. Hell of a deal.

Quick question. If the screen gets dust in it, does the warranty repair this or do I need to pay for it?

    Hi Folks!

I just bought an HP HDX16T laptop a few weeks ago and am VERY happy with it. It runs smoothly, looks great, and is a nearly perfect machine. Here are the specs, just to get that out of the way:

    HP HDX16T-1200 CTO
    - Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit)
    - Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T6400 (2.0GHz)
    - 4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    - 320GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
    - 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT
    - 16.0" diagonal High Definition HP BrightView Infinity Display (1366x768)
    - Blu-Ray ROM with SuperMulti DVD+/-R/RW Double Layer
    - Intel Wireless-N Mini-card
    - 12 Cell Lithium Ion Batt

My only complaint, whose remedy would make this the perfect computer, is a slight fan noise I've detected lately. It may have always been there and I never noticed it. When I say slight, I don't mean the movement of air out of the machine. It's a gentle buzz, much like a hard drive at work, coming out of the machine at the back-left side (almost under the screen). The fan will not make this noise when the machine first boots up and it will only become noticeable after heavy use in a quiet room (if I'm playing loud music of any kind I can't hear it, nor do I hear it during movies most of the time).

I've shut the "fan always on" option OFF in BIOS and when I do this, the noise also goes away. I would prefer to leave this option ON, however, and protect the computer's temperature as much as is possible.

Has anyone else detected a noise like this? Is it normal? It's not a particularly worrisome or bothersome sound, but if it means my fan might be goofed up or something else, I'd like to take care of it.

Also, has anyone turned their "fan always on" option OFF? Is this safe? Recommended?

    Thanks for your help!
