Ahhh..not only are you a "cup-half-empty" guy, but you're also a "doom-and-gloom" guy!![]()
Don't worry...you'll get it and all will be fine.![]()

They also said the HDX18 comes with a nVidia 8600 GT, when I believe it should be the 9600 GT. So I don't know, man... -
lancorp, fill us in, is it DDR2 or DDR3 ram?

and lancorp u still didnt upload a picture of ur gpu-z window, can u do tht pls, with the latest 0.28 version, thnks

I purchased the following RAM, however its not 6400:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231154
Should I return it and buy this instead?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227251
I should be getting my HDX16 any day, so I'd like to return / buy new RAM if necessary. -
From what I've read, there is negligable gain in this case. Now, since the new chipset supports and runs at 800Mhz, i'm not sure if that can be considered as having a large impact on performance.
FWIW, according to CPU-Z, the RAM that comes in the HDX16t is 1GB 6-6-6-18 (slow?)...so based on that, either of your choices would be an improvement in speed. -
Crucial memory look-up tool also confirms DDR2: http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Pavilion%20HDX16t&pl=HP%20-%20Compaq&cat=RAM
But going long with glass is half-full mentality, there doesn't seem to be too much of a performance gain according to this article: http://www.digit-life.com/articles3/cpu/ddr2-800-vs-ddr3-1333.html

Let me know how they are packaging the HDXs...
My experience with the dv7t and my mom's dv5t was pretty bad. They really need to work on the protection of their laptops. And quality. The first dv7t I got had scratches on it. Whether it was from FedEx or from the plant I don't know. My mom's dv6t had a very small barely noticeable smudge on it that I cleaned off easily enough. -
-
-
However, I am happy that I got it shipped 3 days before estimated date... -
-
Also, depending where you live in the US, it might go China-Anchorage-Indianapolis-Anchorage-West Coast. That is the route both my HDX20 and HDX16 took. -
guys, can someone comment on this.....i was checking the HP website and someone has written a review about HDX16t on 23rd Sep, stating that he is using HDX16t for a week........it seems to be a fake one

what do you think? -

For those that have received their systems, how is the heat and/or fan noise?
-
In a nutshell, the thin shipping box IS the computer box, and it's just suspended by foam endpieces and wrapped in a silky tshirt-like sleeve (I presume it's for wiping all the fingerprints off all the glossiness!) -
-
Mine changed to shipped this morning as well! But I'm pretty sure it's sitting on HPs dock waiting for fedex to pick it up on Monday morning.
-
I would also like to know about the heat... mine should be on its way Monday and i'm debating whether or not to call them and just have them return it. The new screen Brightview Infinity screen doesn't look too great and I absolutely abhor shiny touch pads

Yea my roommate keeps telling me that I got such a good deal on this computer. I guess I should wait and see how I like it. After all, I can return it before 21 days is up for a full refund... I got it almost loaded to (to my standards). I only upgraded to the P8600 because I don't need the power of the more expensive CPU's and it will save energy, plus 250GB is big enough for me and memory is cheaply purchased elsewhere.
Has anybody had experience with HP's return policy that can comment on it? If I decide I don't like it is it as simple as calling and saying "I don't like it I want to return it?" Or am I going to have to go through a huge hassle? -
It's easier than you think... Just call them and tell you don't like it. They will arrange the pick-up. HP is one of the best in customer service.

For me, I returned 2 dv5t's which were defective. Got my refund for the first one, I just returned the 2nd one so waiting on that refund.
-
Plus that's ridiculous. I mean if I buy a laptop online and I get it and I see it in person use it for a few hours or days and discover that I'm not at all satisfied with the laptop then I should **** well be able to return the laptop hassle free.
In my cases the first dv7t I returned was because I didn't use a coupon that I heard about on this website. Stupid HP decided that I had to cancel my order and then wait for the dv7t that I did not want anymore and then return it immediately.
So I returned it. Had to wait 2 weeks for the money to be credited back to my account.
Then I ordered the next dv7t. By that time the coupon ($400 off) had expired. The best they could do was $250. Well stupid me did that not knowing that coupons come every so often. Within 2 days there was a 30% Off coupon which ended up taking a total of over $700+ on my dv7t. SO I had to cancel the 2nd order. Luckily that one had not shipped and was canceld in time. However I still had to wait a few days for the money to be credited back to my CC.
So I ordered the dv7t for the 3rd time. Used the 30% off coupon. Was very happy and pleased with the product I had purchased. So I waited while it was built. It was completed and shipped to me. I opened it up and behold there were 2 nicks on the back side of laptop (Picture a closed laptop. The direct opposite of where your hands go to open the top part). In addition to the 2 nicks there was a diagonal scratch type of line that was clearly in the same region.
Needless to say I was upset. Especially since I had been waiting so patiently for this laptop for over a month by now...
Anyways I called HP. They said they could do an exchange. Of course they like to make things difficult so they told me that I'd be charged an additional $400 since I had used the coupon and there was no way they could apply it to the exchange. To make things worse the lady lied to me and said that the replacement laptop would be started immediately while I shipped them back the damaged one. And she even told me she put a note in the order for them to "expedite" the order...well that turned out to be a load of bull****.
I sent the damaged one in. They didn't start production on the replacement till 4 days after they received it. It took them 2 weeks to build it. They gave me 2 day shipping free however but at that point I was just too pissed off to care.
To top it all off in the middle of the 2nd week of production the brand new HDX line was revealed.
So in short HP is the one who screwed up in my situaiton. If they were a company that made things easier for the consumer in terms of returns and exchanges this waste of time could easily have been avoided and I would have had my brand new dv7t weeks ago. Plus if HP actually spent time and money to assure that the plant in China that's making this laptops actually makes sure that they are of good quality and not with random crap all over them then I wouldn't have had to return the damaged laptop.
In short I'm waiting for the HDX 18t because the process of getting the dv7t took way too long and I'm hoping that HP does a better job when it comes to the 18t. -
It doesn't say anything about returning non-defective merchandise... but that doesn't mean that they can't be jerks about it... which is more along the lines of what I was trying to figure out. -
I can't track my shipment for some reason.. is it the fedex site that is messed up or what?
-
Sorry I know this has been addressed, but the New egg link is not active. Concerning HDX 16: Just purchased and they didnt not have 4GB of memory, so I just got the 2. What specific memory are you folks upgrading to

Some confirms about the Video card memory? It supposed to be DDR3, I guess & hope! -

Hello again, Hey what do you guys make of this. My 20inc HDX locked up was gonna take probably a month before it could looked at. So got partial refund ant bought HDX16T. I guess the old saying goes if its to good to be true it probably is. http://cgi.ebay.com/New-HP-Pavilion-HDX16T-HDX-16t-Laptop-Notebook-2-8Ghz_W0QQitemZ180294767968QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item180294767968&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1308&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14

By today's pricing, that is an excellent deal! But, there are no coupons that work on HDX now.
UPDATE: I just noticed he as 30 of them...that seems unlikely... -
Then again- if he ordered 30 of them, that may be one of the factors HP considered when jumping the price of the HDX16t.
Yeah- it seems like an okay deal. If only we could get a better video card- then I would be REALLY happy. -
bleh, it was probably this kind of scalping that made hp remove the coupon codes for the HDX -
-
I'm highly disappointed and won't be purchasing the laptop until a better prices arrives :\. Only reason I wasn't able to purchase the HDX16t the first few days was because I was awaiting a refund from HP. Nope, it didn't come in in time and by the time I had it, the 500$ coupon was gone and the upgrade to the 1920x1080 resolution jumped from 25$ to 125$. Total of 600$ loss there... Owell. I have to be patient until a better deal arrives. Don't need it until a year from now anyway... Just make my self feel better my telling myself it's HP's loss then >.< lol

I hope they decide to start offering the HDX16 without the Infinity display, because I absolutely hate it! I just got my dv7 with Infinity display, and I was planning on sending it back for an HDX16 but I can't stand the display. It is way too reflective - even indoors! I have always bought the HP business line of laptops wihch have a matte-finish non-reflective screen, and I think those look so much better than this shiny reflective screen. Is there anyone who actually prefers the Infinity display?
