Who knows, Black friday is coming.
-
-
I don't know- Black Friday is usually reserved for making deals on items that don't neccesarily well on normal days.
When I used to work at Circuit City, on Black Friday, they had deals on some small things- like DVD-Rs, external hard drives, and some memory sticks for digital cameras. When it came to laptops- they only had deals on laptops that hadn't sold well in the past couple of months. The good laptops- well, out of luck there -
Just wondering what's the WEI of this laptop.
I know it's not that useful but can be some good references. -
Hey Folks thanks for answering all my question about the 16T. Looks like I am going to refuse this laptop, and just buy one locally, $ Based on the configuratin I will save 800 paid with only 3 gb memory , and get it in just a couple of days. Good luck with you r new systems I hope its all u dream it to be.

Do you guys think that these 16t's will be sold in any stores that would allow a coupon sometime down the road?
If not, I'm seriously probably going to have to get an M1530 from the Dell Outlet. -
Update:
The HDX16t now starts at 1299.99$ as it originally did on its first couple of days. This is because the lower P7350 2GHz starting processor has been brought back. Upgrade option to P8400 is 75$ where it was starting at for the past week, so that's why it was at 1374.99$ starting price back then...
Unfortunately, it hasn't totally reverted to what it was the first couple of days of its release... Still no 4GB of ram (not really an issue), upgrade to 1080p is still 125$ from 25$ originally, and no coupons working (sigh 500$ gone).
I wonder how these prices will look in a couple of weeks/months... stocks are dipping... -
Hi
I'm new to this forum but being watching the reviews of HDX16t. I've been using Dell Inspiron E1505 for two yrs and i think i've used it enough. I think my new HDX which is yet to be shipped will be a great replacement for the one i have. And ofcourse i used the $500 rebate to reduce my custom config.
BTW guys can anyone tell me whats the motherboard? is it 945 or 965 Chipset. Also I found that we can upgrade this Laptop with 8GB ram is that true?
Cheer Guys
HP Pavilion HDX16t | Windows Vista | P8600 | 1920x1080p | 4GB | 512MB NVIDIA | 320GB 5400RPM HDD -
Also is the fingerprint reader on the 16t any different from previous HP notebooks or is it the exact same thing? -
-
Thanks for the response. I dont have plan to upgrade the 4GB ram atleast in near future.
Can you post some of the pics of the laptop. Does it come with remote as shown on other videos on youtube? -
It doesn't come with the remote unless u get the tv tuner. -
For those of you whining about having to pay full price for a HDX16t, my nicely loaded, sealed-in-the-box unit is still for sale on the BUY/SELL/TRADE forum.
Get it fast! -
Out of curiosity, those with HDX16t's, can you comment on fan noise? I've been mostly using mine in my shop (which has the constant noise from servers, etc.), but took it in my office yesterday.
I noticed at one point, the fans started sounding like they were running full blast! I set my power options to "balanced" to reduce the CPU clock and cool things down, but the fan didn't slow down. I shut it down and turned it back on this morning.
Upon boot, the fan was noticably fast. Once in Vista, it slowed down, but is constantly running.
Is that normal? I'd think when just starting the fan would be OFF until the system got hot...
Thanks. -

And I don't see what's so difficult about saying what your score is. It's not like it's hidden in some deep dark place. -
I was asking if anyone knows about the HDX16t's WEI.
And you are saying what's so difficult about saying my score is?? -
It's still info I want to know as well. And since I don't have an HDX 16t (waiting for the 18t to be released) I want to get an idea of what it's performance could be.... -
I got my shipping notification email at 6 am on Saturday the 27th but the fedex link still shows "not found". Any insight into when info may show and/or when I'm likely to get my laptop actually delivered to east coast us would be appreciated.

I have a 200GB 7200rpm 2.5" HDD with me now just wondering if its faster than the 250GB 5400rpm HDX16t has. -
Let's hope so -
I'm in the same boat, and I bet they never left HP.

It should show exactly what the guy above me posted, thats how my last HP laptop shipment looked.
-
Chill out it's probably because it's a new laptop.
Also I once had to call FedEx and the lady told me that FedEx purposefully does NOT tell us exactly where the laptop is because they want to hide their shipping routes from competitors...
So that could be a reason.... -
I don't really believe that excuse.
-
I'm not saying that is the reason. I'm just saying that that's what I was told the one time I bothered to call.
Anyways I hope your laptops arrive soon. I know how agonizing waiting for them can be. It took HP forever to send me the 2nd and 3rd dv7t and its because of that that I ended up returning them since the HDX 18t was announced while I was waiting... -
Were you referring to the bigger remote that looks like an standard TV remote or the little one that goes into the Express Card slot (HP Mobile ScrollSmart Remote Control)? I really liked the mini remote and your statement worried me a bit.
I just thought all HDX's came with the small one, regardless of having a TV tuner.
Anyways, thanks in advance. -

Update on the HDX16t:
It now starts at a Brightview Infinity Display(1366x768) and at no cost is upgradeable to Ultra Brightview Infinity Display(1366x768). Still the same on the 1920x1080p resolution.
It is upgradeable to 8GB of Ram for a mere 800$... lol
The upgrade to 320GB HDD from 250GB is now 75$ instead of 25$.
Upgrade to Blu-ray is now 200$ instead of 100$.
.....so it basically got worse. -
That's wonderful! In the time it took to get my DV7 delivered, which I am going to return anyways (they told me it was too late to cancel), now I'm going to basically be paying $250 more for the same setup that I could have gotten last week for $250 less - and that doesn't even take into account the $400 coupon now vs. the $500 coupon last week. So I'll be down $350 total including the difference in coupon, all because HP insisted on shipping me this dv7 even though I tried to cancel it 5 days before it was scheduled to ship.
-
jleonard711 same situation as you. Kinda. And the 400$ coupon doesn't even work for the HDX16t now.
I kinda just gave up if I can't have it the same price as I was able to those first few days (where I could have basically saved 600$ with a coupon + the 25$ upgrade to 1080p).
The only reason I wasn't able to purchase it at the time was because a refund from HP hadn't come in yet. So, basically, after that week, I'd be paying 600$ more than I could have. I tried calling HP many times about this issue, but they don't get it. One did, she tried to see if she could credit back money so I basically save 600$ and told me to call back if it was approved. I called back couple days later and the representatives have no idea what i'm talking about...
Well, i'm going to basically give up on HP/buying a laptop for a while, or I might purchase a dv5t again later on. -
That's true, I forgot that the $400 coupon won't work on the HDX systems. So I would actually be out $250 in upgrade increases + $500 coupon = $750, compared to what I could have gotten it for a week ago. Man, those who jumped on that deal and bought up a truckload to sell on eBay are going to make a fortune!!
Speaking of eBay, you could always buy this one on eBay for $1,699 rather than the $2,024 that it costs on HP.com right now: http://cgi.ebay.com/HP-HDX16T-2-8GHZ-CPU-4GB-RAM-BLU-RAY-512MB-NVIDIA_W0QQitemZ200257826899QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item200257826899&_trkparms=72%3A1210|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A12|240%3A1308&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 Looks like that guy ordered 50 of them! And he's making a pretty penny on them too, because that setup would have cost just $1,274 with the $500 coupon and the original upgrade pricing. So $1,699 - $1,274 = $425 profit x 50 laptops = $21,250. Not bad for virtually no work at all. I wish I would've jumped on that bandwagon (and I also wish I had a $65,000 credit line to do so!!) -
I'm just pissed because people who ordered their laptops on the 17th got them a week ago, and I ordered mine on the 18th and i wont get mine till god knows when. It apparently shipped last Saturday and i cant even track the shipment.
Heck I'm willing to sell my laptop the specs are in my sig, how much would someone buy that for? Heck i'm gona go to Ebay and make an account. -
OMG! My tracking number works! It was just picked up from HP today.
-
How gay is that?? I also checked my tracking number- which finally works too- and it turns out it wasn't even shipped until today. What kind of nonsense is that??
HEY- did anyone see?? The new HDX18 is out today!! Check it out----

They give you the option of having a quad-core processor- that's nice. Too bad they still don't have any video cards better than the 9600 GT. Oh well- I really hope HP figures out to get some better graphics cards soon. They also let you have up to 640 GB of hard drive space over 2 drives- good for people who want RAID configuration. -
Mine too have started shipping from Shangai. Supposed to start by September 29
-
- very nice... hahah
Does anyone really want 8 GB of RAM in their laptop yet?? -
-
-
-
EDIT: lancorp beat me to it! -
It looks like I got a pretty sweet deal though, esp. with the BluRay player I added on for a mere $100. I didn't bother upgrading RAM or the HD since I wanted a 7200RPM drive and I can get better RAM for cheaper on Newegg.
I guess i'll check it out and if I like it, i'll keep it. If I don't, i'll sell it on here. If nobody on here wants it, i'll try Ebay for a week at a slightly higher price. If nobody there wants it there, then off to HP it will go! -
I hope you didn't have to drop 800 bucks for that!! -
Can we stop talking about all the shipping issues and configuration of this laptop at least for now? For those who have the HDX16, can you comment on the performance of this laptop. I've been reading thru all the posts but doesn't find even one thread about the performance. I'm more concerned about the heat, which is the reason why I turned down dv5t
Did HP make any improvement on the thermal?
-
^ Problem with that is almost no one has it yet...
-
But as Chango said, there are maybe two people on this board that i've seen that actually own them. The rest of us are still waiting..
Kevin -
Since I have both an HDX20 (Dragon) and an HDX16t, I can say that the HDX16t seems to run physically hotter (palmrest temp and hot air exhaust), but I think it's because it is a smaller chassis than the HDX20.
I also have my HDX16t set to run at the full 2.53Ghz when plugged into AC...no speedstep throttling. When on battery, it runs cooler since the CPU steps between 800mhz (lowest) and 2.5Ghz (highest).
It sure is ODD that no one else has their HDX16t... -
-
There's no way you can speed things up at this point so just relax and wait for it. Check back every so often or if it really bothers you and you HAVE to know call HP up yourself and ***** at them about it instead of on a forum full of people who will have no idea where it is or even be able to help you.
