Hi I've had my HP HDX X16-1140US laptop for a while now, and ive noticed my GPU Temps reaching 95C, and CPU temps reaching 85C while playing intensive games (due to my overclocking of the GPU). Can anyone recommend me a good notebook cooler that will bring down my temps to about 50C ~ 70C for a good price? I've already looked at the NZXT and the NC-1000 and NC-2000, not for sure if any of them are good for the price.

Also, is the 9600M GT, GDDR2, DDR2, DDR3, or GDDR3 in my model?

    Hi,

This forum has given me some good information about the HP HDX16 Laptop which I will be purchasing within a month or so... So you probably guessed it, i have a few questions.

    1. I looked on the HP website today and they only offer the T9900 with 6MB Cache for the T Series. This is disapointing and hopefully they will allow a T9550, T9600, or T9800 again since those were the three I was looking at. Ok so the question is, Does the T9800 for example use more power than the T9550? My guess would be YES but I am not sure how the archetecture works.

    2. Okay my next question is regarding the Nvidia GT 130M Videocard. Nvidia just came out with about 3 weeks ago... the Nvidia GT 230M which is "2X as Fast and 1/2 The Power". This would be wonderfull if HP updated their computer with this. When or will HP do this? Anyone know anything about when HP does upgrades to their laptops?

Thats it for my questions about the HDX16t... I will look for the 30% off coupon soon since I do have a window of time I will need to order this...
Between August 1st and August 15th so It comes in time for college.

    Thanks.

You need to give it time to adjust to your battery. Accuracy will increase over time.

    1. All T series processors use 35ws of power. All P series use 25ws.

    2. I don't really know.

Though not listed as an option for the HDX16t on HP's website, I still wonder if the QX9300 processor is possible on the HDX16t...

Even though no quad cores are available when customizing the HDX16t do you think its still possible to upgrade it to a quad core? What about up to a QX9300?

Hi, newbie to the forum here! :)

I wish they had an hdx16 owner site like they do for the 18, and for here a full forum for the hdx16 would be nice! Will be suggesting that officially for sure...

First off I am a network admin who does things very thorough...

I started looking @ laptops a few weeks ago for *MY* use, which is by far different from your typical user. I am very picky... :GEEK:

I came across the hdx and started digging further... I am super impressed at the features, and price for sure. :D

I ordered one from QVC due to the payment option, but since realized if I pay out-right I can pay the same and get the other features I want- Backlit KB, 1080p screen instead of 1366x768. And a few others... :D

So, I am going to return that one and order the customized one. I had a few questions I wanted to post here and try and get some feedback...

 1) TV Tuner or not? - It comes with the built-in remote, and says you can watch hi-def tv through the media center or whatever. What is the major benefit of the TV Tuner though separately other than the additional remote?

 2) HDCP? Currently on tech support call for 45+ min for HDX department... Sales says yes but that is sales- they want a sale and will do whatever they need to I am quite sure :)

Other than these questions I am super excited about owning one of these bad boys. You simply cannot come close to the price with all these features! I have looked very thoroughly. I need firewire for my older vidcam, love the fact that e-sata is included, etc.

I will surely not only be able to use this laptop for the great personal uses, but surely almost anything that comes about for supporting my users I can handle, as well as demonstrate when instructing!

Everything good minus 2 things- t6600 processor only has a 2mb L2 cache, and the display- better off with the 1080p infinityview for complete / best blu-ray viewing :) im probly a little late on this but o well wanted to add my 2 cents!

No. It is supposed to charge no matter what. My HDX18 charges while I am using it, and I go from battery to AC a couple times a day.

Rex, not sure what's going on with yours.

My HP HDX 16 has just developed an annoying problem. it seems randomly my wifi/bluetooth on/off button activates and disconnects all my wifi/bluetooth (the signal button that is usually blue when on turns orange randomly) and I have to hit it again to turn it back on. Is this a hardware problem? Am I screwed? (because having to go through HP Tech support and/or send in the laptop is a nightmare I would rather avoid)

It is so weird and it is driving me crazy as I use wifi as my main internet connection and I cant get anything done now.

My Infinity Display has scratches on it that were caused by contact with the main body of the laptop. I've started a new thread about it...you can see my post here:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=5075547

I thought the topic might be of wider interest than just HDX 16 owners which is why I didn't post only in here.

Try to check if there are any power saver settings specific to the bluetooth. I knoiw in XP this is under Network connections, and just like your wifi card / network adapter sometimes it is defaulted to save power.

Are you going into "Sleep" mode, or "Hibernate"? Check power settings0 hard drive, etc. This might cause it to lose the connection.

    Otherwise I'd call HP.

Hi Guys, I got my HDX16t like a week ago and it was love at first sight XD, the performance is awesome, the screen looks great!!!.
Now I recently found out about the HP Free Windows 7 upgrade option and I tried to sign up for it but without any success. Every time that I type my product number I got and error saying that is not a valid one (I'm not stupid I know where is located btw its nk133av) I'm wondering if someone had the same problem...or if someone already succeed, Please let me know which P/N had use.
    Thanks!!

Dual boot (Vista x64 and Ubuntu 9.04 x64). My Specs are:
    T6600 proc
    4gb Ram
    9600m GT
    320 HDD 7.2k
    16'' 1080p
    BR-Rom drive

I tried overclocking today using rivatuner 2.24 and my clocks are at "640/1600/540".
Everything seems fine but my 3Dmark score is the same as my initial score, 4800. This is my first time overclocking but I'm pretty sure that my 3Dmark score was suppose to increase.

1: I have the tv tuner and its a fun gadget. However, I've only used it once to check if it worked. It works pretty good but that depends on your location for reception. I have since not used it. It does come with a big remote you can control other stuff with. But if you don't get the tv tuner, it still comes with an express card remote that works the same that fits into your express card slot.

    2: I don't know what HDCP is.

Thanks for that, I'll try that, so does that mean that the HDX itself doesn't have the ability to show you the time by default?

EDIT: I just installed and ran Batterbar and under time remaining it just says calculating. How long does it usually take for it to show?

I was told that they stopped supporting this feature after 2007.

Give it 10-15 mins to update.
Also, could you post the remaining time of your battery. I think I received a faulty battery and I'd like to compare the times.

Where it says "Full Lifetime" that's your batter life maxed right? For me it's at 1:16, I have the default battery 6-cell I'm guessing, is that good for this laptop?

I did alot of research on this issue. At first I thought it was just Vista, but all of my friends laptops show time left and so does my Toshiba, all running vista.

I found out it is only on HPs that don't show time left as it is disabled in the bios. I don't know why they would do that, its kinda stupid. I too use batterybar. Its pretty accurate but you must give it some time to read your battery.

Instead of relying on the meter, why not run your computer on battery until it dies...then you'll know how much time you get out of your battery and thus if it's faulty? You're supposed to do this from time to time anyway.

I ordered mien 3 days ago and it should be here in a few weeks. But one thing that concerns me is that even though its only 1 inch smaller it looks really small compared to the dv7t I use to own and I am afraid I might have to return it because it might be to small for playing games or making movies

Its not 500% off, its $500 off. If it were 500% off, it would be free plus you get 400% cash back.

It could or could not be a better deal depending on how much you are going to spend. I'd say if you spend past $1,500, then the 30% off is a better deal as it would mean $600 off.

I saved $1000 of mine but then again I spent $3200 on my max configured hdx16. With the 30% off, the more you spend, the more you save. Plus you have to spend at least $1000.

I don't think it would make much of a difference. No offense to rageman, but I saw the hdx18 in person and it is HUGE, much bigger than a 17inch laptop. I'd say if you care about portability even alittle, then the hdx16 is great, not too big, not too small. But if you never carry your laptop around, then the hdx18 is best.

Also you have 21 days after you get it to decide if you wanna keep it.

If you never carry your laptop around then head to Newegg and build your dream system from scratch, and get a 24" widescreen monitor. That's what I have on my desktop...quad-core, RAID 0 ...it's a beast and probably was cheaper than a high-end HDX-18.
