i own an hdx16t. ive been having trouble with it for a while now. the treble and bass will uncontrollably adjust itself up and down. when this happens the dialog box comes up with the volume, bass and treble levels and i can see it adjusting up and down. also when this happens it will occasionally disable my wireless too. This is beyond frustrating. I have called HP and they had no fix for it other than reinstall drivers and such which obviously did nothing.

Does anyone know of a fix for this or how I can disable my media smart controls so this will stop happening?

I am using Windows 7 and I haven't installed the HP Quick Launch Buttons or anything related to Media Smart and the treble/bass buttons do not work... So try uninstalling them...

I also have the problem with buttons loosing their color, you can try ordering new ones from HP HDX X16 (Silver) Replacement Laptop Keys or any other related site.

Changing a button is very easy, you just pop them out with a credit card or a key and then you push the new one in place...

Hi guys! So my laptop will be celebrating it's first birthday this weekend, and as foolish as it sounds, I thought it would be nice to buy it something. :p

The problem I've been having with it is that I've been stuffing it into a backpack fit for a 15" laptop, so inside it is almost touching the top of the bag which is unprotected. I think it's time to switch from a backpack to an actual laptop bag.

I was wondering what bags any of you guys have gotten that fits this laptop well. I want a bag that has a lot of pockets and space for notebooks and textbooks.

    Thanks in advance! :)

Hi guys, just registered as a lot of other forums aren't much help and I've lurked here for some time now.

I've had a problem for quite a few months now with my HDX16-1100. I'll quickly list the specs and whatnot if people want to know before providing help (if they can :D)

    - Twelve Cell.
    - Bought the laptop in February of last year, so roughly 16 months ago.
    - Have a 3 year warranty on it.

Specs: (I'll just copy Everest Report and Edit)

Operating System: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 6.0.6001 (Vista RTM)
    Date: 2010-06-18
    Time: 23:30

    Computer:
Computer Type: ACPI x64-based PC (Mobile)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium
    OS Service Pack: SP 1
    DirectX: DirectX 10.1

    Motherboard:
    CPU Type: Mobile DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo T9400, 2533 MHz (9.5 x 267)
Motherboard Name: Hewlett-Packard HP HDX 16 Notebook PC
    Motherboard Chipset: Intel Cantiga PM45
    System Memory: DIMM1: Elpida EBE41UF8ABDA-8G-E
    4 GB DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM
    (6-6-6-18 @ 400 MHz)
    (5-5-5-15 @ 333 MHz)
    (4-4-4-12 @ 266 MHz)

    Display:
Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT (512 MB)
Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT (512 MB)
3D Accelerator: NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT
    Monitor: Samsung 160HT03-001 [16" LCD]

    Disk Drive: Hitachi HTS723225L9A360 (250 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA-II)

    Idle Temps (@ around startup)

    Sensor Type CPU, HDD, ACPI
    GPU Sensor Type Diode (NV-Diode)

    Temperatures:
    CPU: 59 °C (138 °F)
    CPU #1 / Core #1 : 52 °C (126 °F)
    CPU #1 / Core #2 : 51 °C (124 °F)
    GPU Diode: 66 °C (151 °F)
    Voltage Values:
    CPU Core: 0.82 V

So I think that's about all anyone needs to know. If anyone needs to know anything more.. let me know.

Back in February of this year (2010), I had serious issues with overheating. Basically... If I did anything remotely GPU intensive (flash related falls under here, fb games, etc.) would overheat my computer right away and it went into some auto-hibernation which it wouldn't come out of and I needed to shut it down. I sent it to HP, they fixed whatever, sent it back. Gave me a new hard drive, replaced my fan and something with the heat sync, and a few other things that I don't remember at the moment. All was fine...
Until about last week. Once again, anything I do that involves simple gaming (Facebook games), watching things online with divx web player, flash games, etc., really heats my computer up. Here's the temps while running something like Cafe World on Facebook:

(Note: This is on the "high powered" setting for power settings)

    Temperatures
    CPU: 92 °C (198 °F)
    CPU #1 / Core #1: 86 °C (187 °F)
    CPU #1 / Core #2: 86 °C (187 °F)
    GPU Diode: 62 °C (144 °F)

    Voltage Values
    CPU Core 1.14 V

Mind you, that's pretty damn hot for running something that this computer shouldn't have any problems with.

So anyway, we're back to the same problem. Once again I have to ship my computer back out to HP on Monday, lose it for a week (and while it's free of charge.. it's still extremely inconvenient to me) and then hoping it comes back fixed.

Also, on another side note, when I had received my computer back in February my battery (was not shipped out with it) has gone completely dead since then. HP Battery check says it's dead and needs to be replaced. See.. my problem is, 12 cells are not cheap. Apparently... they're also not covered under the warranty I have. Anyone else have the same experience? 12 cell dying in a year is kind of suspicious. I've treated my battery normal and very rarely bring my laptop around with me. What also bugs me is that when I received the laptop back is when it started bugging on me. I spoke to the tech that is having me send it out again and he said to include it this time and he'll make a note on the order for another tech to check it out. I doubt they'll do anything though.

My question basically is.. is there anything I can do myself that will help/fix the situation? I'm not good with laptops in terms of hardware and do not want to void my warranty so I won't be taking anything apart. My fan and the entire area is cool... while my screen gets hot, the area below the screen (hp quick keys) gets extremely hot, my left side where the USB/HDMI/Monitor connections are is probably where it get's the hottest. My BIOS is up-to-date. Etc.

More or less... after dropping almost 3000 dollars on this thing and not having for more than a year and a half, I'm not that pleased with the product. I think it's a great computer, but with what I'm running into I'm getting worried. If I end up with the computer back next week and sooner or later run into the problem again I'm going to be really fed up with it. Anyone have any similar experiences with something like this?

Anyway, if anyone could help it would be much appreciated.

It definitely sounds like you have a hardware issue. You fan should be somewhat warm (indicating it is cooling properly). If it is blowing out cold air and the heat is building up under the touch controls, it is likely a defective heatsink. I had this exact same issue with my old DV7 and replacing the heatsink fixed the problem. Only ran me about $25. Although 3 screws easily remove the heatsink from the CPU die (once you have pulled off the bottom cover of the laptop), if you're not comfortable making significant hardware changes, you'd probably be better off putting up with the long turnaround time from HP and let them do it. As far as warranty goes, in past experiences if your good at buttoning up the computer as it originally was, then it won't void your warranty. TECHNICALLY it would, but the repair tech won't be able to tell that it has been disassembled.

    Hi everyone,
I'm pretty new to this forum and just purchased a new HDX16 and had a few questions. Perhaps someone could help.

I received a new HDX16 on eBay as a Display model and I got it dirt cheap. First thing I did after I booted it to see if it functioned properly was to reformat the HDD with vista and install Windows 7. Everything was fine and dandy there. However, my issue came with the touch controls.

They function fine, except I am having issues with the HP MediaSmart SmartMenu application. Before i began to install it, the media buttons except for Bass/Treble worked perfectly. (need tone control installed) I proceeded to install the MediaSmart SmartMenu software and rebooted as instructed. The buttons still worked, but there was no OSD.

I then found a MediaSmart SmartMenu update on HP's download page. After I installed the update, everything worked fine, including Bass/Treble, however the OSD was all choppy and in pieces on the screen, and my mute button was stuck ORANGE. it mutes and unmutes as normal, but the LED does not change color. I did a system restore and it went back to normal but im not sure what to do now.

    Any suggestions are welcomed.

    Thanks,
    - Corey-

Nevermind. I figured it out. Turns out HP hasn't coded MediaSmart for Windows 7, so it has to run in Vista SP2 compatibility mode.

In other thoughts, has anybody actually upgraded their CPU in their HDX16? I am considering upgrading my C2D to a C2Q but I am paranoid that something will go wrong. I know it sounds so simple, but I just want to be sure. Also will a C2Q increase the amount of heat under the same processing conditions? Someone please confirm this for me.

    Thanks,
    - Corey -

    Hey Guys,

What type of sound output is produced by the 9600M card on the HDX16? I will be receiving a 7.1 HTIB and was wondering if the HDMI sound from my laptop will be able to output 7.1 sound. Please advise.

    Hello all.

After upgrading to Windows 7 (both x86 and x64), something weird has been happening. Once I plug it off and use the battery, the CPU immediately goes up to 100%, and the laptop becomes utterly unusable. This happened even after a fresh format.

Could it be the BIOS? Any idea on how to fix this annoying thing?

    Thanks!

    Hey everyone,

I recently purchased a new backlit keyboard for my HDX16 laptop however it won't light up. I've updated my BIOS and tried the FN+spacebar combo but it still doesn't work. Any ideas?

I have an HP HDX16 X16-1375dx. Is this model compatible?

    Thanks

Did you plug in the LED cable and not just the keyboard cable? There's 2 different ones.

Yes I plugged it in however it appears that the connector at the end of the orange (power) ribbon cable broke. Ended up resoldering it together. Works fine now.

Are the backlit keyboards supposed to be a slightly dim purplish-white color? I thought they were supposed to be really bright. Maybe I'm wrong.

Sound just like mine actually, I was expecting something brighter myself when I first used it, although it's dark enough to not bother me when using it at night, so I'm somewhat thankful for that.

Personally I think the slight purple color fits pretty well, although I would like it better if it was a straight "White" (as close as led's can get to white anyway).

Yea I agree the purplish Color does look sharp. I too anticipated it to be really bright, but I was judging based on other ppls pictures. To which I discovered most digital camera irises make the keyboard look:
    -brighter
    -true white (not purple white)

So I guess it's as good as it gets.

Also, I purchased a stock model hdx16 because it was dirt cheap (<$600) and figured I'd upgrade everything myself, but I'd like to know how I can get wireless N, bluetooth, and a hybrid tv tuner all packed into the same computer. I understand there are only 2 mini pcie slots on the hdx16, so I'm not sure how I'd go about upgrading this.

If WLAN and tv tuner take up both slots, is there a special bluetooth peripheral onboard or something? I haven't taken mine apart that in-depth yet to see for myself, but was wondering if any1 else could give me Some
    Insight on the topic.

    Thanks,

    ~Corey~

If you want Wireless N, cram a Intel 5100 AGN inside where your current wireless card is. If you want the Tuner, it eats the 2nd PCI slot, and you also need the cable/antenna set to go with it. Might want to update the BIOS before adding in the wireless card though.

The Bluetooth uses its own connector somewhere near the power button on the motherboard, at least, I've seen the connector when I've cracked mine open. I'm not too sure how similar the HDX 18 mobo is to the HDX 16's, but I don't really think it differs too much aside from it being possibly a bit smaller and a few things on it changed around. All of what you need to know is in the 16's Maintenance Manual... just don't lose track of all the screws... You will have to fully dismantle the thing to get into adding the TV tuner correctly.

See that's weird---I have the 5100agn card, but when I'm connected to my wireless N network I'm maxed out at 54mbps instead of a Full 300---not sure why.

As for the Bluetooth I found a Broadcom BT 2.1 module with the multi-pin cable for it so I think I'll go ahead and get that.

As for the tv tuner the only one i was able to find was an avermedia card. Hopefully this is the right one. And The cable that goes from the tuner to the laptop casing, is the jack on the outside of the laptop a right angle jack? Because all I can find on eBay are right angle jacks and from the looks of the outside of my hdx it doesn't seem like it would fit. If any1 could confirm this before I buy anything that would be great. Thanks.

You could angle the antenna a certain way, it won't look as nice.

What kind of router do you have?

Well actually i was referring to the cable inside the computer. I need to know if the actual MMCX connector for the antenna is a right angle on the INSIDE of the notebook. Ill tear mine apart eventually but It would have been nice to know beforehand. Now that i think about it, i could probably remove the optical drive and peek around the corner in the empty space. i think ill do that.

I Have a Belkin N+ Router which advertises up to 300Mbps. When I plug in a USB N WLAN adapter, i get a full 300, but not with the internal intel one. Also my desktop computer in the basement (onboard WLAN) has N and also gets a full 300. Im stumped. *shrugs*

I'd say poke around with the advanced driver settings for the WiFi card. I had a Netgear WNR1000 that would only give me 65mbps, and it took a switch of the first setting to "Auto" to make it work on 150mbps (It wasn't a 300mbps router though). So try that and see what happens. I'm not sure why its only the 2.4GHz channel width is set to 20MHz by default.

And for the TV tuner card, I don't think the connector is angled inside the notebook either.

Yea I'll take a look at the intel driver settings and see if there's anything worthwhile in there. As far as my router goes, it actually broadcasts up to 40mhz. Perhaps that's why I get 5 bars anywhere I walk? (so it seems)

Tv tuner port runs right into a casing screw. Guess it is a RIght angle jack after all. There appears to be some allocation of space above the USB port next to it for the cable to sneak around. I upload a pic tommorow.

    Thanks again 4 the tips.

Went into Intel's property sheets for my WLAN card. N is enabled and the 20MHz setting was turned to Auto. as well as other "auto" settings. However, i noticed under "Wireless Mode" there is no N option. it lists A all the way through G and in subsequent tiered combination (e.g. a, a/b, a/b/g, etc.) i would expect to see here (in a perfect world) a/b/g/n. no such thing. check yours and let me know what you find. do you get a full 300mbps? I'd like to narrow this problem down to a software issue, but who knows. i dont dare swap cards (unless identical) because good ol HP with throw me the "Unauthorized Wireless Device" error. fun fun fun. if you want i can take a screenshot and post it if it helps you help me.

    Thanks again,

Task Manager shows a 300mbps link on mode 6 (which I only get roughly 10~11MBs since my old desktop is still using a 100mbps ethernet card, so I know where the bottleneck is). What's interesting is that I can get that speed through 2 wires and through the air.

    Desktop -(wire)> WNR1000 -(wire)> E2000 -(Wireless)> Laptop

Maybe the Intel card isn't liking your router; find another Wireless N router you can test with and see what happens with that is probably the only thing left to try here? I'm also guessing you updated your drivers already as well... I should probably do the same.

Having a slow transfer is also depends on your router *CPU*. My DIR 625 router (wifi N) is actually REALLY SLOW. I hate it.

Yes it supports up to 300Mbps but it can't process 300Mbps. It's just a draft-N router.

I would get a Gigarouter on my next purchase with higher CPU. I'm sick of slow router with 8-9 devices connected to it.

    TaskMGR shows 54 here.

I will take my laptop to this facility I work at and try that. I have installed there a netgear wireless N router (i dont remember the exact model, but will post after I'm there) and see if i get a full 300 there. hopefully my belkin is the problem and not my computer. Yep my drivers are all up 2 date.

Speed really isnt an issue on mine. its just that it says its not connected at a full 300. this really is only a local network speed issue. (TX/RX files across computers) the internet speed is fine. i will try a different router and see what happens.

    EDIT:
USB WLAN card is having the same problem. which means the intel card and my USB card is clearly not the issue. perhaps an issue with software? who knows. Ive used this USB card on other machines and received full 300. Ill keep tinkering...

    HI Folks,

Haven't been on here for a whiole now. I have been enjoying my HDX16t for a while now. I recently upgraded the OS to Windows 7 Professional and I like the new OS, especially the boot time. However, the system just seems a bit slow to me lately, so I ask:

What are the best upgrades to help boost performance? I'm thinking a new 7200 RPM Hybrid drive (like this out of stock one on NewEgg Newegg.com - Seagate Momentus XT ST95005620AS 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s with NCQ Solid State Hybrid Drive -Bare Drive) might provide both more space and faster performance. What else would people here recommend?

Hey bro. I got the same lappy as you... Here's one of many solutions to your "slowness" issue:

    1) FORMAT YOUR HDD AND DO A CLEAN WIN 7 x64 INSTALL!!!
    2) Partition your disk in a manner in which your system files are on the outer-most ring of the HDD. This will speed up load times and make your system perform better overall.
    3) Use nVidia Ntune and install latest forceware drivers. Overclock variables are 720, 640, and 1600 (consecutively)
    4) Install AVAST! Anti-virus and turn OFF all windows bloat-ware (aka Windows Defender, Windows Anti-virii, etc)
    5) Turn OFF Windows Indexing.
    6) Set page file (virtual memory) to a static amount. 1.5x your total physical memory. Which, in our cases, (unless you've upgraded ur RAM) would be approx. 6 GB pagefile size. Minimum and maximum, same for both.
7)Install only the bare essentials that you'll need. In other words dont go around clicking YES to install BloatDoctor if it prompts you to while ur on the internet.
    8) For gaming performance, (and for GFX demanding apps) right click program executable and go to properties. Click box for Disable Desktop Composition. This little tweak will give you suprisingly VERY good boosts to your frame rates.
    9) Formatting, and CLEAN installing win7 should be the biggest single-most boost to your system. Right now it's cluttered with garbage and junk files that r slowing it down. I dont know how computer savvy you are so maybe you already know this stuff or maybe u dont... or maybe someone that doesnt will read this and gain some speed!!
    10) Get a good memory optimizer. Sounds cheezy, but without one RAM gets filled with junk and old .DLL files that dont get released. These RAM optimizers will help you in that regard. I suggest Memory Optimizer Pro, but DO NOT have it load when windows loadz, which leads me to my next point:
    11) Depending on ur system setup and how many componetnts u are using, u should have no more than 3-4 startup programs in ur Startup list when u type MSCONFIG after start button and hit enter. Uncheck all the boxes, then ONLY check the ones that are vital to you and/or your system for functionality. Optimally, your phys. RAM usage when at idle should be around 25-30%. Any higher than that either means A)Bloat ware having fun in the background B) Program is open and u dont realize it in taskbar or something C) Windows is updating, speaking of which TURN AUTO UPDATING OFF!!! I think you're smart enuff to decide when to and what to have Windoze install for you. You dont need a background Service running that auto-downloads some Windows KB42394324 Security Update that removes the KillBill spyware .exe file.. c'mon gimme a break.

...There are too many more to list but those are the basics. If u do all of that you wont b needing that extra HDD or SDD (waste of $), and also, ITS ALL FREE!.

Oh sorry forgot one, 12) turn OFF UAC settings.

cheers !! Let me know how u work out!

Hey, thanks, Bro! I hear ya! I know I have a LOT of crap on my system, but still I resist doing a clean install. Simply because I have a LOT of CRAP i USE on my system. I have 2 versions of MS Office, years and years of emails, more utility programs that I can count (most of which I actually use on a frequent enough basis) and lots and lots of data, including a large MP3 library and years of photographs.

I considered doing a clean install when going from VISTA to Win7, but I cringed at having to re-install all of my programs! All of my data is backed-up to an external 1TB drive automatically, so that is not much of an issue (except for the time to copy it all back), but the setup and re-configuring of my software could take a lot of time as well. I'll try some (any!) other means first, including faster hard drives.

Well, I understand ur griefs however u first must determine what is causing this slowdown in performance. A faster HDD will do absolutely nothing if your CPU is overloaded constantly with background-running apps and programs. Just try some of my recommended tweaks (besides the format and clean install) and tell me if you see any speed increase.

And in the big picture of things, set some time aside to write everything down youll need to re-install after a format, and clean install. All these things u mentioned can be backed up quite easily.. and the settings, cmon dude it wont take you THAT long to re-configure all your settings, on top of that many progs have an IMPORT SETTINGS feature.. think about it more, it all depends on what means more to you, a breif inconvienence or a forever sluggish system.. xD

Has anyone needed to replace the infinity glass on their HDX 16? Is this even possible or do you have to replace the whole LCD panel?

I love my HDX. It works great. But the glass is scratched to hell.

Hey, Ive had an HDX16t since last August. I think my AC adapter finally died lol. Dumb question, but whats the best one to get? I know if i buy from HP, I'll have a warranty, but they're extremely over priced, and they have terrible reviews. And i know some third party ones burn out quickly. Whats the best replacement one you guys have gotten?

Ive never needed one myself but I do recall seeing tons of HP-replacement AC adapters on the shelves.... i think they go for what, 30-40 bucks? Seen 'em at Best Buy.. save urself the grief of looking to save 10 bucks finding the cheapest online and just pick one up from your local friendly neighborhood best buize lolz.

UPDATE: sorry it took so long to post. forgot about it. went to a friend's house with a Linksys N router (300mbps) and at another facility (Netgear N, also maxed at 300) I checked the settings inside both routers and they are both set at full duplex on the WLAN (no speed bottlenecks). perhaps its the computer itself? im not too worried about it, it just been making me curious since 3 WLAN N cards in the same computer all have the same effect: 54mbps. never seen this before in all of the computers i've worked on...

Aside from networking, how easy would upgrading my CPU be? I understand i would basically have to take everything apart down to the motherboard, but since my last HP (dv5-1125nr bronze) had a total meltdown, I'm a bit gun shy about upgrading it. After changing the heatsink on the dv5 (something relatively simple) the system failed to POST and would sit and blink the caps/numlock lights, indicating the CPU was defective. after a new CPU, motherboard, ram, and heatsink, -$200, i gave up.

Clean installs of Windows (doesnt matter what version) will ALWAYS yield performance increases like no other. The factory images deployed from HP (and every other company for that matter) in my personal opinion are completely tarnished versions of Windows. I clean install people's machines all the time and they all swear that their computer has never run that fast before. It speaks for itself.

The faster RPM definitely helps, however if you mean in COMBO with an SSD, keep in mind the X16 is not like the X18---it only has 1 HDD bay instead of 2, like the X18.you would have to choose one or the other.

after you install all of the software you need, run msconfig and disable any services or startup items that are unnecessary. I always CCleaner my machine, disk defrag it, then registry defrag it, in that order. I use this process on all of my client PCs and the performance is unbelievable.

Disable UAC. this should be first on your To-do-list.

Other than that, theres not much else you can do to improve speed. Upgrading your CPU is another option, but you MUST know what your doing---it is very risky. I killed a perfectly good DV5 doing this---to this very day i have no idea why it died. took it into a professional shop and they couldnt figure it out.

A side note from performance, when reinstalling certain REQUIRED applications from HP, one of them is the MediaSmart SmartMenu. this is required for your Touch controls at the top of the keyboard. It is also resposible for driving the OSD. However, when downloading the Windows 7 version of this program from HP, it completely malfunctioned and rendered my touch controls useless. The working solution i found was downloading the Vista version and installing it, and telling the SmartMenu EXE to run in Vista SP2 compatibility mode. have had no problems since.

Good luck with speeding up your HDX16. If you have any other questions please feel free to let us know. we'd be glad to help! :)

Solution for eject button under Win7 x64

Download this file. It is located at the very top of the screen. extract it and run the HPMediaSmartInstallerx86. (you should run the x86 installer although you have a win7 x64. Restart your computer and your eject soft button should work.

Note: If you go to control panel>all control panel items>programs and features, you will find 2 HP MediaSmart Menu icons. This is expected.

The fastest processor you can go with is the T9700 (or whatever the fastest 45nm Penryn dual core is) I believe if you have a Dual Core right now, the quad core motherboards have some extra... something on them (so I read on HP's message board a few months ago). If you're going in that far, might as well give everything inside a good clean, and reapply the thermal paste on the GPU and CPU when you get it in. Its really just a drop in upgrade once you get it dismantled.

Thats strange because I have a DLINK DIR 615 as I recall and my ISP is comcast. I get sustainable downstream speeds of 2.06 MB/sec and speed bursts up to over 3 MB/sec.. This translates roughly to almost 20Mbits/second consistant... Im quite pleased with my Dlink router with a/b/g/n capability. I doubt it is the router. If anything, it may be a number of things causing your slow X-fer speeds, for one may be simply your processor, as it may not be able to process data as fast as its coming in. Next, and perhaps most obvious, what data plan are u currently paying for with ur ISP? Maybe your speeds are maxed out already by which particular plan youre on.

After I checked into those things id make sure Wifi device drivers were all up to date, and also eliminate all background-running programs, thius giving your HDD and CPU full downwstread data dedication. finally, and probably least-likely, depending upon how fast your HDD can write the data to the actual HDD as it flows in... My netbook with 1.66 ATOM processor can handle wireless download speeds of around 1.5MB/second constant, and it's most likely much weaker overall than your setup.

As a final thought, check your network configurations, channels, and range of wifi ur dealing with.. This data rate could be so many different things its hard to troubleshoot remotely.. hope this helps, feel free to PM me if youd like..

do people actually USE those "MediaSmart" keys?? I absolutely never use them at all.. in fact i wish they werent even there and HP used the extra tech to dedicate to some other system component... actually, the Wifi indicaitor is nice to have in blue/red thou so you know its active. other than that theres an eject key on the cd rom slider plate.. why use the mediasmart key?? lol o well guess everyone has their own thing..

I use the Media Control, Mute Button, Volume Slider and Wifi button all the time actually. They're more useful if you uninstall the OSD for them so you're not getting popup boxes everytime you touch one; don't need that coming up when in TF2 matches now do I

Hey guys. Is there anyway to put a second hard drive into the HDX 16t? All the documentation I have and have seen on line claim that 2 hard drives fit into the HDX. I opened mine today to install the second hard drive and their is only one hard drive bay????

The 16 isn't big enough to house 2 hard drives from what I know, the HDX 18 has space for 2 however.

If you don't use your DVD drive much, you can get a Caddy to place the hard drive in place of the DVD drive.
