And that was all for about $1481 including WA tax! Can't compare to what it was a few weeks ago, but it's still a great deal! -
The 15% on top of the 200 off is definitely a good deal.
The system I got is decent. However I wish it were 4G. If I end up keeping the 16t over the 18t I'll definitely get a new 4G memory unit as well as a dual 7200 RPM hard drive.
But of course I'll need to get this bracket that people keep referring to. -
The 300$ off on the HDX16t is no longer stackable with the 15% coupon for all products.
-
I remember somewhere people said that live.com won't honor their cb combine with coupon.
15% stackable + 3% fw cb are good enough for me. -
-
-
I denied that offer and instead used the 15% offer SV3204, but now that's not stackable, might as well give it a try with live.com support. Just remember to mention "false advertising". Hope this helps!
-
I read the program terms and conditions, and I don't even see anywhere where it says it ends today. Is it just by a whim they decided to stop it?
Oh well. You could try using the coupon along with the live.com, and call about not getting the email, and then get the $150 compensation offer. -
Interestingly, I configured the exact same system I originally purchased from HP the day the HDX16 was introduced (and I used a $500 off coupon back then). My HDX16t cost $999 after $500 discount. Now, the same system, except with FREE 3GB upgrade and FREE Blu-ray drive is now $1232.49 after $200 rebate + $217.50 (15% coupon)! Even if I could get $500 in coupon savings, the same HDX16t is still $150 more today! Doesn't sound like a FREE 3GB upgrade or FREE blu-ray drive to me!
That ol' "hide the savings" shell game they play! -
I just tried the SV3204 coupon and it does stack with the HDX16t $200 instant rebate and the free 3GB RAM and free blu-ray.
FYI... -

Anyone looking for 4GB DDR2-800 RAM, Newegg.com has just lowered the price again today, and you can get 2 x 2GB DDR2-800 for $40.99 after rebate and only $3.99 shipping. PLUS, via the free combo deal, you get a FREE OCZ 4GB High Performance USB drive!
You Can't beat that!!! (and, it's 5-5-5-15, so that's not bad!)

I really need some help! I have the 64-bit version of vista home edition and wanting to downgrade to 32-bit and I'm having a hard time trying to find software and drivers for it to work optimally. HP won't let me exchange for the 32 bit version so I'm wondering if any if you guys can make a copy of that and send it to me via mail. I'll pay for the postage and coffee? Many thanks.

FYI for those who may have purchased an HDX under the assumption they were getting the 20% cashback from Live and didn't....
Last night I purchased an HDX with the standard $200 rebate, the 15% off coupon, and using the 20% Microsoft Live. (Although I know the Live disclaimer says it doesn't work with other coupons, I placed a separate order last week with a coupon (5%) and Live DID honor the 20% on top of it).
I didn't get the 20% cashback from Live, so I decided I'd cancel and place an order with less upgrades. However, when I called they offered me $100 on top of the $200 rebate and the 15% coupon. This is basically the equivalent of the 2 coupons which were previously stacking yesterday, SV3204 and NB5748. So if you're disappointed you didn't get the live cashback give HP a call and they may do something about it for you! -
I've been thinking of making an SSD HDD upgrade to fix stuttering in games, as well as snappier loading and bootup. Does the HDX have 2 HDD slots or would I need to reinstall the OS on the SSD somehow? Don't remember if it came with a recovery disk lol, at work right now.
I've been looking at this drive specifically, I'm not really concerned about write speed. ($300 for 128MB)

I am purchasing this model for my wife (I purchased the HDX18 for me).
is there a major difference between the following:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P8600 (2.4 GHz)
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T9400 (2.53 GHz) -
can someone please post the new hp wallpaper that was included with this laptop?
-
darengibo, go with the P8600. Less heat and voltage and it's already good processing popwer.
-
If battery life was critical to you, then choose the P8600, but if you're mostly connected to AC and only a bit of portable use, the T9400 would be better (IMHO). -
Thanks! I went with the 8600 since it is for my wife and she will have it on battery a lot...
i was shocked to see my live.com account get credited 267.00!!
i used the coupon to get 200 off and then used the 15% coupon stacked.. then saw the email from live...
we shall see come Dec 13th! -
Interestingly, I had an issue with fatwallet with my current purchase of my HDX18t. The problem is, I didn't use fatwallet! They sent me an email saying I got my 3% fatwallet cashback, but my click history did not show ANY clicks to HP that day, or for the past week! Great....something to screw up my 20% live.com cashback! So, fatwallet is working on removing that with HP.
Hopefully, you get all your discounts! Merry Christmas!! -

All your posts in the forums are about you wanting free wallpapers. What do you have to contribute to this forum, or is it once we give you free wallpapers, you just disappear? -
-
Agree 100%!
When deciding to purchase the HDX16 or 18 (ended up with both), this forum has been nothing but helpful.
In your case, you could have searched this forum ("wallpaper") to see how many times it was requested, then just be a little patient instead of insulting the group you are requesting the help from in the first place!
In case I haven't said it clearly enough, THANKS to all the guys/gals who have helped me in this (and the HDX18) forum! -
HP has the 4G option up again on their website for the 16t only....
Just thought those who were holding on would like to know. -
Have we any actual reviews out and about yet?
-
-
Anybody successfully boot XP on this machine yet? If so, any issues or certain things not working?
-
-
Time to contemplate the HDX16. -
Also, if these are any indication:

Hello all, new guy here
Have been following this and other related threads with interest and I'm contemplating pulling the trigger this evening an an HDX16.
I see where coupons have come and gone along with other discount schemes and was wondering what the current best approach is.
Would appreciate any advice on the use of currently valid coupons, live.com discounts, etc.
Thanks in advance. -
Can anyone tell me what the max memory spec is? DDR2-800? DDR3? Can I shove 2x4GB sticks in there? I assume Centrino2 supports 8GB of RAM. Not sure what limiting factors might be.
I've built countless desktops and have spent more than a decade in IT. This is the first time I've had a personal laptop ever, and the first time I've really delved into laptop specs. It really is a different world in some regards. -
DDR2 PC2 6400 800MHz ram. You can put 2x4GB, as long as you have 64bit vista.
-
-
lol yeah
-
I don't know what that person was smoking when they did the review. Sony is known for OVERPRICED items, which look a bit sexier than other brands. If he or she thinks .1 lb is heavier to lug around, I guess money is no object to them. Try to get the same specs in Sony for same price.
I'm really disappointed HP this time (i've got 3 desktops, and 2 laptops all perfect from hp.) Yes, the price point is great for this notebook, but the quality of workmanship is crappy. My original HDX16t had countless glue type smudges all over which I had to clean when I got it. Annoying palm rest and dvd drive.
