That's strange. Mine left Indiana at 4AM this morning. And arrived in Newark at 6AM.

You should check again, perhaps it's closer to you now?

I can't see why it wouldn't show up at my doorsteps on Monday as Newark is kinda close to me.....

I mostly run it on AC, but the few times I have run only on battery, i'd estimate about 1.5 hours. I do run on max performance, though.

 

Once, I got the email almost immediately, but otherwise I'm sure they showed up within a day or two. When I did it, though, it was only 20%.

And, my latest purchase, I didn't know about the "hidden" 25% link and only got 5%!!! I'm pissed about that one...almost enough to reorder and return this one, except I used the HP 30% coupon on the it too, which I can't get now.

 

Mine's in San Diego! Tomorrow, for sure!

Could someone please explain to me how they are using the HP coupon codes AND getting Live cash?

 

My guess is MS is not following their own rules and allowing it (or at least not checking it).

I thought the Quad Core processor would help with battery life or maybe I got it confused with something else.

Any recommendations of what discs to use when burning DVD Video on the hdx18t? The drive is the Optiarc BD ROM BC-5500S which is rated at 8x for DVD+/-. The discs I have burnt show as being corrupted when played in my DVD player.

I checked my tracking for my HDX18 and it is setting in Austin. it only shipped on the 11/21 wasn't due till the 25th. So I expect it to be delivered on Monday as well. So thanks to the guys for getting the custom problems cleared up for the rest of us....I am really excited as this is my first personal notebook. I have the memory and HDD sitting in my room just waiting.

 

Ive used many many many different types and brands of discs, and while I havent used the HDX18 yet, I have found TDK discs to be the most reliable. If you look out for sales, you can get them for about $29 (100 pk).

Around what time does Fedex usually deliver these laptops? Morning or afternoon?

So close...I'm dying of anticipation.

 

Well obviously it depends on what city you live in, but I will say all of the laptops will be delivered by 10:30am. It says it on the tracking and has been correct each time I've gotten my order from HP. So you'll get it by 10:30 unless something happens that is. But on a normal day, 10:30 or sooner, I've gotten my laptops as early as 9:00am before. Well around then.

ok so i ordered an hdx a couple of days ago and used the 250 dollar coupon can i use the cashback thing too? i put my email and code so what do i do now?

 

I believe you have to apply for it at the time of sale.

 

Is there any info about HDX18 with better GPU? Does HP plan to release such model with eg 9800m?

Question .. Having never seen an HDX18t up close ... I've ordered the dual hard drives. I intend to change out, the Primary hard drive. Are there any sort of case markings, with regards to which hard drive is the Primary drive "C"?? With the laptop in an ordinary position, which side is the "C" and which side is the "D"?? My lappy is in Indy. Tracking indicates an 11/25 touchdown. This will be the fifth time, that my Vista tweak folder gets opened.

Okay so I'm going to create recovery discs before I replace the hard drive and memory...what type of discs will work?

I bought 5 HP DVD-R discs from my local pharmacy. They were really cheap.

But I'm not sure if they are the right format. Should I have gotten CD-RW's instead?

 

No, DVD-R is the right type.

 

this might sound silly but what is the difference between 8x and 16x on the DVD-R disks?

 

I just got mine! The thing is huge...but freakishly so. And the weight is fine for me

 

Congrats. I am waiting should be here anytime for me. So any issues with it? Bumps scratches anything like that? I have heard some other say that had some cosmetic issues.

 

No bumps or scratches thank God. However I'm not hearing any sound at all.

I don't know what to do or what could be the cause. All the volume icons are on. There's no mute anyway.

I'm creating Recovery Discs right now. It's current "creating files". It's around 40% or so.

 

Looks like I'll be getting mine as well today. I'm totally surprised; the original "shipping date" wasn't until the 25th. But the FedEx tracking info shows:

* Left Shanghai 12:35 PM on Saturday the 22nd
* Arrived in Anchorage at 1:16 PM on Saturday the 22nd (yup, the Date Line thing must have come into play here)
* Left Anchorage at 9:33 PM on Saturday
* Arrived in Memphis at 5:43 AM on Sunday and left again at 3:42 PM
* Arrived here in Virginia this morning at 7:35 AM and was sent out on a truck for delivery just 2 hours later

So I hope to be joining you guys in unboxing and setting things up before long. YAY! I'm SO excited!

I hope the sound works when I put in the new hard drives...or that there's a solution for it.

Yeah I'm creating recovery discs now...I don't know if I should wait until I get the sound figured out but I work in like 6 hours so I want to get the hard drives replaced as well as the memory and the Vista installed on it before I leave.

 

I should be getting my harddrive and RAM today. This will allow me to make sure everything works good out of the box. Then pop in the new stuff...if I get a blue screen or other issues, I should be able to blame it on the RAM etc...

I'm not expecting any issues though...it feels like Xmas today!
