Does anyone run Windows 10 without Problems?
I upgraded to the latest build yesterday and first everything was finde but after a few hours the browser started to forceclose.
With Firefox only Flash Websites didint worked and the plugin fc.
The start menu was verry bugy too.
Restarts only solved the start menu Problems
I know that Windows 10 isnt ready but maybe im the only one with that Problems.
    Steam dosent started too

Yes, it says run time since the OS was installed is 11:39! I think what ever Battery Bar and batteryreport read to estimate run time is wrong. Both seem to estimate high. I guess I will have to do a real measurement by keeping a log.

Yes, after you mentioned it I am noticing that the hinge/screen is a little wobbly. Even when typing the screen will wobbly slightly depending on how hard I'm pressing.

Another issue at least on my unit is the trackpad seems loose as well, there's a clicking noise even when touching down on it lightly. Anyone else have this issue with their unit?

    I'm thinking of exchanging it.

    Same here with the trackpad.
The lower part is a bit loose, I think its normal or?
I dont exchange it because I dont have any other notebook/PC :D

I have the same issue on mine, after some research it seems like it's not suppose to be like that. I'm planning to exchange mines, hopefully replacement unit will not have this problem.

I don't think it's normal.. but don't know if it's a quality control issue or just bad design.

It doesn't seem to affect trackpad function, I just don't know how much it'll annoy me later on :)

I had similar problems with Build 10300, so I had switch back to W8.1, but it's running great on my desktop.

I think if we factor in the 7% that we can't use, batteryreport and battery bar pretty is pretty spot on. But yeah logging is the way to go.

I didint mean its normal for every device. I think that maybe every Spectre got this and thats a bad design like you said.
Normaly I send something with only one issue back till I get an perfect Device but here I dont Care.

Is here anyone without the Problem?
Maybe im near a store which sells this device this week. Than I cant test it

    Im back on W8.1 too.
I was running a much earlier build on my Desktop before I sold it and Windows 10 was running much better than Build 1030. I thougt it will run better because its in the slow ring.
I think we need to wait for HP and I hope they deliver the Driver fast.

    @ALL
    When is your fan working?
I got 4 Tabs open and sometimes it goes an but not loud.

I sure hope so.. I'll probably install Windows 10 a month after HP officially releases it.

I also found out that it's better to do a clean install with Windows 10 rather than upgrading from 8.

Has anyone noticed a refresh to the X360? The HP Spectre X360 Pro. The only difference I see is a slight bump in processor.

My HP Spectre XP360 stopped charging properly. Neither of my HP AC adapters work unless I bend and hold the power cord at random angles (if I let go of the cord, the orange charge light goes out and the battery stops charging). HP support says that it DC power port is probably broken and the whole motherboard may need to be replaced.

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how long did it take HP to fix the issue?
    Thanks in advance!

Yeah I did, though i think its been there before. In Singapore theres a Pro X360 G1 convertible with those bumped up i5 and i7 with 5300u and 5600u respectively ever since they launched the "normal" X360.

    i7 vs. i5 battery life -

I find lots of reviews giving run-down tests of the i5, but I don't see any for the i7 model. Anyone have a comparison they can offer? I'd like the i7 if the battery holds up close to the i5 numbers. I'd be FHD on either since I'm sure the QHD is a drain.

Like hdad2 I'm wondering about the i5 vs i7. I'm looking for battery life and heat. Besides battery life can anyone give any comments on whether the i7 gets hotter than the i5?

Hey guys, i got my spectre a couple of weeks ago and have been playing with it while i've been at the office.

In regards to the build quality, it is top notch on my one. No dead pixels which is great since i usually have bad luck in that regard. I have been looking for a wobbly or loose trackpad as was mentioned above but i cant see any wobble and it doesnt make loose clicky noises when you push down lightly, only if you actually want to do a full left or right click. So i would have to say that not everyone is experiencing loose trackpads. It might be dodgy QC or just bad luck.

i did notice if you push down on the lid it flexes a little, which i wasnt expecting because it's supposed to be metal.

And the only other thing was the wifi connection. My office has absolutely crappy wifi in general and i was wondering why my laptop would just keep disconnecting every 10mins or so while my mobile phone would stay locked on. After getting a bit annoyed, i went into adapter settings and unticked the option for the laptop to turn off the wifi to save power when not being used. It seems to have fixed the issue but i wonder if it will kill the battery life. I'm getting about 8 hrs so far (i7 FHD).

I have the i7 FHD and I'm returning it in favor of the i5, FHD. I'm averaging about 8 hours of battery with the tweaked power plan, undervolted. TBH, I feel like the the performance gain of the i7 is not worth it...

EDIT: As far as heat is concerned, it does get warm, but I haven't really put it into heavy stress and load. I mainly do light photoshop and illustrator on it. But then again, I undervolted my machine.

    I really dont know
Maybe I get a device with more problems.
When I have time, maybe I try to get another one.
The Store where I purchased it is 30 minutes far.

While scrolling in the Internet Explorer App with two fingers, does it stop at the half of the trackpad too?
Moving two fingers from the bottom the the top, it stops scrolling at half
But its only in the IE App.

Regarding the battery life: Could you post some more or less objective consumption measurement in mWh? Some people say 8-9 hrs on FHD model, some people say 6,5 hrs... Like let's compare idle mode after fresh restart with Wifi on, BT off, keyboard backlit off, screen brightness at 0% (no programs running, no Spotify etc)? Or try to run just IE with 5 tabs opened (google.com or similar pages with no flash)? Try to use Battery bar or something similar - and like that I think we could get some more objective measurement. What is your power consupmtion in mW?

Regarding the noise from touchpad - I have noticed it immediately when I got a chance to play with one x360 in the store. Seems like QC issue, my last years Zenbook had that as well. But that laptop was almost half the price of x360.

X360 vs. X360 PRO - it is not a new version, it has been here probably since the beginning. The PRO has Intel v-pro (i5 5300U vs. i5 5200U in non pro version) and Win 8.1 pro edition. For some 300 EUR extra... And most importantly you *can* buy 3y onsite warranty as an extra for the pro version (which you can not buy for the non-pro version) :( Bad joke from HP!

it's not the sound that bother.
I only think that the touchpad is because of the loose, less precise.
I nees to test it at a store. the touchpad from an thinkpad is much better

This is my personal experience in using my X360 for almost a month now. using the touchpad 99% of the time since I hate bringing a mouse.
My X360 4002dx which I purchased from the HP Store does not have a loose touchpad, although I've only clicked on it a couple of times. I'm more of a tap person, one finger and double finger tap to right click. No give or clicky sound while I do my tapping. As per touchpad issues with regards to scrolling, I have not experienced that type of issue unless of course I accidentally lift my other finger while scrolling, then it would stop scrolling and the pointer shoots up/down, but that's my fault.
Hoping this might help you a bit D4rk, it could be an issue with your specific machine.

I had one in my Dell Venue 11 Pro all the time. No problems.
But it was one of the slower ones, so I didint really use it, because it took to much time.

    @GX9
I only use tap and double finger tap to rightlick too.
Tomorrow maybe I will drive to the store and try to get another one.
At the Homepage they say, they only got one left.

I have the same problem as HK142 below. I even just sent back for depot repair because the fans were constantly coming on full blast even at light use (browsing, 2-3 tabs without video, <5% cpu). The case felt very hot to the touch on the bottom, as well. Open Hardware Monitor and SpeedFan are both showing spikes in CPU but nothing crazy.

The machine came back from repair about 30minutes ago and the repair order states they replaced the fan and thermals - but the issue is still the same.

This could be normal behavior, but it just seems oddly loud and like he said below, something reviews would've picked up on.

Curious what others see for CPU temperatures, as well.

    Note I have the i7 5500U.

The fans on mine does not really want to come on with regards to my workload, well its just usually browsing with multiple tabs (sometimes multiple browsers, lol) and light office editing. When I add in some HD video in the mix though it does come on, but the temps never get really hot something in 50's or 60's (Celsius); although I do have and i5 5200u.

I'm pretty disappointed by my battery life. I am happy to get 7 hours on my i5 FHD model with 40-50% brightness and just few tabs in IE, bluetooth and backlight always off. When i have 50% brightness, i get an indication that "the brightness levelreduces battery life". If 50% brithness is a powereater, i find it pretty lame.

I think listening to music consumes much energy. I don't know what consumption the scrolling has, since i use the trackpad a lot. But i have only windows deffenfer running backwards and nothing heavy.

I don't know how to see the mW consumption neither use Battery Bar. I may download it and see what it shows.

Well you can see the power consumption only in specialized software - ie battery bar, Hwinfo64 etc. You will be able to see if there is unusually hight battery discharge rate causing low battery life. You can also see battery wear in %.

Make sure the windows defender is uptodate as it may decrease the battery life as the antiviruses quite often do. However the defender might be ok.

Another day and it seems to be the same way. It may just be a quirk of the i7 or something, as it's not outright loud, just louder than I feel it should be. The core temps are staying lower after the repair so that is good.

I called the depot repair people (they give you a number upon return) and they stated the machine went through engineering and review after replacing the fan and thermal paste, and they did not see or hear any issues. Then again in a repair depot, a laptop fan probably will be barely notable anyways.

Curious if perhaps it may be an application doing it, though. My base install "idle" still has Google Drive and One Drive For Business running. rebooted, ran both, and the fan cycles don't seem to be going as much. Will update if it's an application issue in case that helps others.

Edit: 2 hours and a few reboots later, fan is still quiet even when running youtube, Outlook, tabs, etc. I think Google Drive is my smoking gun here.

Edit again: using the following day - I would say the fan runs at about 75% speed (pretty loud) about every 1-2minutes then lets off. Outlook and Firefox (2-5 tabs) running as primary apps. CPU hovers around 45-60C depending on load.

    Regarding the recent discussed issues,

I don't have a loose trackpad and I heavily use the buttons it especially for drag and drop.

The fan of i7 sometimes works but this happens if I open multiple Youtube or generally Adobe flash tabs on Firefox and somehow this hogs the system even if I close the tabs. Usually I have to shut down and restart Firefox to solve it. Never tried that kind of heavy load on IE to compare.

After 4 weeks of full use I get on average 6h30-7h from 100% to 12% (i7/QHD) with brightness on 50-60%, multiple tabs on Firefox, Spotify and/or foobar or other streaming music, MS Office, with USB keyboard, mouse and HDs and using heavily the touch screen.

The HP told me that a loose trackpad is normal :D
Now I hope my second one arrives today and without an loose trackpad.

The fans goes on while closing apps.
While uing Visual Studio 2015 and 2 Tabs in IE, the fans are the most of the time off.
Get the same battery life with i7 QHD

just got mine today and the trackpad is "loose". Just makes a slight noise when tapping on it. Telltale for me is that the top of the trackpad is flush with the frame right under the keyboard. The bottom of the trackpad is slightly higher than the frame except that if I apply just a bit of pressure, it lowers flush with the frame until it makes contact underneath (I presume it contacts the trackpad button switch). Anyone opened theirs up yet to have a look at the trackpad. Sounds like it could be an easy fix with a bit of care - http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware/Spectre-x360-touchpad-seems-loose/td-p/4989857

FWIW I find Battery Info View to be far and away the best battery use monitoring utility for Windows. You can set it to provide real time consumption data as often as every 10 seconds making it very easy to see what effect turning different things on and off. It has more statistics than any other software I've used (trounces Battery Bar) and as far as I've been able to test its real time stats are extremely accurate. Unfortunately it doesn't have the ability to have an indicator so you can see your % remaining at a glance; you have to pin it to the task bar and click on it to see current status and changes over time. It really educates the constant changes in usage. I left my machine on overnight with about 15 tabs in Firefox and it's amazing how much consumption varies, with every 10 second readings varying between 5 and 15 mw, while the average was about 8 mw, which gave me about 7 hrs on my Thinkpad Yoga. Everything was turned on - wifi, bluetooth, backlit kb, screen at 50% and many of those tabs were constantly syncing and updating. I've never tested it at true idle with everything turned off and no browser on. I'm guessing it would be about 4mw but will report back. Fascinating and infinitely useful utility. One thing I've never tested is how much current the program itself draws, but that would be easy enough to calculate by turning it off for a minute and then looking at the remaining capacity.

just a few thoughts from me as well, regarding....my precious :D

I have the FHD - i5 - 8GB - 256 SSD. Robust build quality, excellent screen, fast, battery roughly about 10 hours, a little bit on the heavy side, versatile concept. I think the best laptop out there for 2015.

I also liked the active support by HP regarding BIOS and Driver updates.

Regarding the heat issues... I have had a few troubles. The system was on the hot side till BIOS F.13. The last bios update fixed the problem and now the CPU clocks down when there is no load. It is barely warm and the fan kicks in rarely... except when I am playing WOT (world of tanks).
What I have discovered though is when I am having enabled the virtualization option from the bios, the CPU locks itself above 2.4GHZ for no apparent reason even when the system is idle and there is minimal cpu load, resulting in cooking steaks on the aluminum chassis. I think that this is a bug and needs to be fixed. So be aware if you are enabling this option.

ok, so I took the bottom cover off to see what the trackpad was doing. There are two screws that hold the trackpad spring to the frame. On mine, this spring pushes the trackpad a mm or two above the frame. The extra space makes for longer button travel and a little rattle when you tap. So I took the screws up and put a couple thin pieces of plastic (paper would be just fine too) so that the trackpad sits a little lower in the frame. I suppose careful bending of the spring would do the same, but I was too chicken to try. This pic shows the trackpad spring and screws at the bottom, right in the center. After adding the shims, my trackpad still has a long travel (I think that is a function of the spring shape and again, I didn't want to bend it), but it is quieter now when I tap it. The rattle is gone.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing this info, hopefully my replacement won't have this issue, but if it does good to know there's an easy fix.

so I've been thinking about buying this laptop, but i had a few questions for some people who have been using it for a while. First off, I know this is nowhere near a gaming laptop, but how well can this handle indie games like transistor, bastion, rogue legacy, etc, as well as Mobas and blizzard games. Also, how well can you read books/comics when in tablet mode. How is the aspect ratio for that?

Any info on those would be greatly appreciated

My x360 works better with the vt Option on in bios.
The fan is more off and the device is still cool.

    About gaming:
CS GO works on lowest Settings
Hitman Blood Money on middle Settings.
I didint Play indie games but I think when the recommend specs are lower than the CS GO specs, than it shoud work.

    Aspect Ratio:
Ist 16:9, so like the most Display.
For reading in tablet mode there are better aspect ratios like the on from Surface or Kindles.

    edit:
Now I got my second one.
The trackpad is much better :)
Only the Keyboard light is not so good like before. The keys on the outside are a bit weak.

My airplane mode key has stopped working since days. Can it be a bios update that i didn't realize or something like this?

I downloaded it and watched a bit. Can you give it a glance? I don't see any important differences, even when turning off Wi-Fi and lowering the brightness to 0%

Just tested, mine still works just fine. I'm on the F.13 BIOS, which is the latest according to the HP support page for this model.

Do your other F row "action" keys work? Like the volume up/down and brightness up/down?

I wanted to share my Spectre x360 Windows 10 Experiment.

Found an article with the Win10 Drivers linked to it here:
    http://chriswoodruff.com/2015/05/04...0-clean-on-a-hp-spectre-x360-from-build-2015/

So, off I went. The first attempt was an upgrade path. No good. Wifi stopped working, Sound stopped working. Installed new drivers and no fix. Uninstalled/Reinstalled hardware and drivers. Nada.

2nd attempt was with a clean wipe of 8.1. WIFI worked like aces, but the sound driver continued to give me a headache. Couldn't get the drivers to complete installation OR get the HD working.

So, back to 8.1 for now. I REALLY wanted to give Cortana a run but will have to wait.

My Spectre x360 just arrived. So far there don't seem to be any problems, fortunately. No loose trackpad or anything.

Quick question – what are some basic things I should do to set up my computer? I'm not super knowledgeable.

Yes, all the others are working. And the airplane key works fine as f12, pretty strange.
