Hey does any one know if there is anyway to get a previous version of a bios for dv600t like F12 or f13 ?
-
How can you tell if you have all the most recent drivers installed?
I don't trust HP's website for having all the most recent drivers, nor Microsoft. Sometimes I will install the driver from one site, then HP will want to update the driver from their site with an older version, WTH?Go back to Microsoft and they want to update the HP driver, again??
Some of those utilities which scan your PC and try to download all the most current drivers for your hardware want me to pay.
I came across RadarSync which has a new release out, but I haven't tried it.
March 18th, 2007 - new release: Vista compatible! - RadarSync 2007
The link is for the limited trial version.
They want you to pay as well, but offer a FREE basic service with the trial version. You just have to download the driver manually from the provided links, after the scan. See below ...
"This FREE page lists the latest Windows Vista drivers and provides direct links to the files for downloads. We're offering this as a free service to the community, to help you all get through this challenging period of Vista-transitioning."
I installed 32-bit Vista and all the drivers I could find and created a driver installer using Driver Genius Professional Edition 2007 For Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Vista/x 64. Now, I perform a clean install, then run the self-installer and all my drivers get updated to the latest versions. If I had the latest versions installed when I made the installer ??
I was thinking of uploading a torrent for the self-installer with the current Drivers for anyone with a DV9000T.
Install their software
Update everything
Create the self-installer
Reinstall Vista
Run the self-installer
Clean Vista, all updated drivers
Any suggestions? -
If you want stable drivers, let Windows Update does the job for you. It does notify you if a new driver is avialable for installation.

i dunno should if i should be happy or sad we have the same problem, iv not found a pattern to it yet, disabeling and re enabeling it in device manager get the cam back, but its really annoying -
The problem is the webcam will work fine every time I turn on the computer but after a while, if I try to use the webcam again, all I get in Quickplay is a black screen and if I use MSN I get a message saying the webcam can't be initialized because another program is use it. Any ideas?
It happened to me... I just uninstall the webcam (deleted...) restart the computer, the system automatically detected the webcam and voila!! is working just fine!!! -
i have a dv6226us pre-loaded with vista. i installed XP and was able to get the drivers working well except for the audio. well, the sound is good but i cant use the microphone jack at the front of the laptop. the built-in mic works fine but if i jack in a microphone in the front its not workign, still the built-in mic is the one picking up the sound. how do i make the front mic work. i want to use my headset.
thanks,
sir june -
What driver are you using? Try this one if you aren't using it already. I'm afraid I'm on Vista, so this may not apply, but you likely need to go into whatever sound control panel the XP driver provides in order to change which mic you are using. -
-
Gentleman. I have another problem. I rely on your wisdom and experience since you've helped me so much in the past. Again my specs: i'm running a dv9000t vista ultimate. All drivers are working ok (except for a few kinks here and there; but nothing huge). But now i'm going through 2 problems.
1.- I just added a 2nd hdd. ordered directly from HP, model number is identical to my primary (except this one is the 5400 rpm, instead of the 7200 i ordered as primary) .but vista will ask for drivers and it will not find any. I'm going crazy trying to figure this out.
2.- If i plug in my sony cybershot camera (dsc-h2) it cannot drive the driver for the sony DSC. Everywhere i read, it states that it should work naitively. and one site that provides instructinos for vista 64, i tried them, but they did not work. any ideas would be great. (the reason for wanting this is becuase my internal reader reads the SD cards perfectly, but it asks for a driver for the memory stick, and i installed the ricoh driver but still does not work)...
any help .. i would really appreciate it.

I use a HP laptop DV6174ea and after changing my platform to vista-ultimate-32 bit.---my inbuilt webcam has stopped working!
Could someone please point towards a solution link --if one is available.
Many Thanks and by the way my computer knowledge is rather limited.
best wishes

I've got a HP DV6190EU which had XP Media Centre edition on it, and I've just upgraded to Vista Home Premium using the express upgrade kit, and have the same problem with the built-in webcam. The webcam used to work fine in XP.
I installed the drivers from the HP Upgrade disc as advised by the upgrade guide, and it seemed to work, but the next time I used the laptop Vista said it was installing drivers for an unknown device, and it became quite obvious this was the webcam.
Sometimes I can get the drivers to install using the SP34746 from HP's site, and the webcam will work after reboots and everything... but then if I switch the laptop off and come back at a later stage the webcam won't work again.
I've just tried uninstalling the HP Pavilion Webcam and removing drivers from within the device manager as suggested earlier in this topic, rebooted and Vista found the hardware and installed a USB Imaging Device, which was also listed in the QuickPlay program, but the camera wouldn't work. Then I ran the Setup program from within the SP34746 folder in SWSetup and it brings up the dos window, shortly followed by an alert box saying "Run-time error '75': Path/File access error". The command window then says "access denied" and the Vista UAC alert comes up prompting me to allow/disallow the program to run. Clicking allow simply ends the Setup program.
However this time it has made the webcam show as HP Pavilion Webcam in the Device Manager, and going back in to QuickPlay I can get the webcam to work.
Hardware ID's in Device Manager are:
USB\VID_05CA&PID_1810&REV_0100&MI_00
USB\VID_05CA&PID_1810&MI_00
At least after reading this lengthy topic I know I'm not the only one with this problem, so hopefully HP will be all the more interested in finding a solution if they don't already know of one. -
yeah guys the inbuilt webcams dont work by themselves at the moment on vista.
they do work when using quickplay and IM's like msn. -
Could someone please help me??? i just bought a Pavilion dv2000 with vista pre-installed and the webcam doen't work properly...when i install the webcam using the latest driver it doesn't apper on scanners and camers in control panel and everytime i try using MSN messenger with the the messenger shuts down.It only works on Quickplay and even in that it sometimes open a black screen where the camera should be and when this happens i have to uninstall the camera and reinstall it again..does anybody else have this same problem or found a way to resolve it???
I think maybe it's a driver issue... -
my built in webcam for my hp pavilion dv6245us laptop isnt working properly. every time i record a video clip the clip plays twice as fast as normal and the sound stays the same. I've tried 3 softwares and its all been the same. is there a driver i can download or is there something i can do?
-
i too have the same problem. Model dv6244us. After recording a video clip with the built in hp pavilion webcam, the playback is extremely fast and unsynched with the audio. In other words, a 20 second recording will play back in 4 seconds. This is crazy insane. Anyone else have this problem? So far, it looks like munkey26 and I are alone.
-g money -
i've been read this thread from the beginning..but does anyone have driver for pavilion dv1000? mine is dv1623tn using vista home premium..
1.webcam
2.wireless ass
3.quickplay since the button of mine didnt ork at all
beside that everything works well for me.. -
Good Afternoon Fellow Posters...
I have read scanned over this thread and others, but I can't find the answer to my question per se. I have an HP dv9033cl that I purchased as a refurb from Costco. Got a good deal...sort of. Anyway, I used the HP Vista upgrade utility to put Vista Ultimate on my machine and it went pretty smoothly all things considered. During the install it took all of the pre-installed files and compiled them in to one file labeled "Windows.old". Has anyone been able to use any of this legacy software and get it to set-up, install and run using Vista? I'm a nubie at this so please forgive me if it is covered somewhere else and I didn't find it.
Thanks, in advance for the assistance. -
I've just had an email reply from HP, saying that my DV6190EU needs to be picked up for them to service and will take 8 to 10 business days.
Has anyone else been told/asked to return their laptop so as HP can service it to solve the built-in webcam issue, and if so did the problem get solved? -
Did you try a fresh install of everything? I have a DV6191EU and the webcam works fine. It's recording through the mics I have problems with. (far to quiet)
Read my sig on customer care for more info about my dealings with them. -
When you say "everything", do you mean back to factory default XP, and then to Vista, and all of the drivers, or just "everything" to do with the webcam?
Strangely enough the webcam seems to be working now, even after multiple reboots etc... but it's still not being recognised in any other programs, and also the playback is about 6x faster than it should be. I'm also noticing that the microphone volume is very low. -
Well I've about given up. I know there is a driver in the works for the audio problem I am experiencing but I have a few more reservations about Vista on my 2000t machine. The fan never stops spinning (no matter what power profile I'm in). I can't get my xb3000 expansion base to work properly (stupid thing keeps switching to an external monitor even if nothing is connected and I set it to stay on the laptop monitor, not to mention I can't get the sound working with it properly). My Quickplay quick boot doesn't work (and I really liked that feature). My Wireless reception is worse off then under XP. I upgraded to 2 GB of memory and it's still slow at times and I AM ONLY SURFING THE NET with two IE7 windows and multiple tabs! (I know there are tons of problems running in the back but STILL!) Uhgggg, I give up! I never had this much problems going from Me to XP.
Course while preparing to migrate back I found a host of other problems. It's seems so slow backing up all my data. I can't get an easy move from Windows Mail back to Outlook Express *sigh*. To date Vista is making me feel as gyped as when I upgraded from Windows 98 SE to Me.
Sorry for the rant, hope eveyone else has good luck with their upgrades. I feel for you... -
The fan issue is getting really annoying... which is too bad because I like Vista otherwise.
-
grr, so my laptop is still with HP. they were suppose to ship it to me on march 30th, and they still havnt. i been calling for a week and they keep on telling me they will call back me back within 2 business days but they never did. so finally i was fed up and called back on friday and complained about how they never call me back and she sent an email to a manager. the manager called me back within an hour and he let me know that he is requseting an ETA for my laptop (btw, which has a part backordered FOR JUNE 14TH!!!!) but he said i will not have to wait that long but wants a final ETA before taking any further steps. he said he will call me back on tuesday and let me know the status and if it still an unreasonable amount of time he will tell me other options i have (im thinking a new laptop or a full refund)
we will see how things go!
i will probably go with a new laptop and ask for a 160gig instead of a 120 (they didnt have this option available when i ordered my laptop) and the nvidia card (they didnt have this option either)....and if i get lucky maybe i can get the core 2 duo with 2ghz . i should be rightly compensated since i have never been called back and they are giving me outrages waiting time (2 1/2 months!!!)
as for those who don't know why i sent my laptop back...it was cuz my mic stopped working after i upgraded to vista. -
I'm starting to get sick of this. We haven't seen any kind of helpful update for Vista 32-bit for many some days now. My fan is running way too much under Vista (though it's not that annoying, coming from my old Athlon XP desktop) and my CPU has that beautiful squeak. Some kind of bios update would be wonderful. Really. And how about an update for the audio driver? What? I can no longer play through my speakers AND my HDMI anymore? What's up with that? Finally, how about a actual usable driver for the graphics? I can't do practically anything with the stock HP driver, and get tons of small little glitches.
Any word when we might see an update? -
Yeah... Me too and I`m getting pissed about it... The same problem described by danana and topron... I`ve tried everything possible to make the webcam work... It seems impossible. I hope that either HP or Microsoft come up with a solution for this matter really soon... I only bought a HP laptop (Brand new DV6338SE Limited edition) because of the camera (MSN Messenger) and now I can`t use it... It works totally ramdom. I can never guess when it will work...
-
If customers can not easily punish HP for being reckless I think Microsoft should do it, because driver issues will definitly hurt Vista sales. I hope somebody from Microsoft can read this. HP should have provided drivers for notebooks they shipped as "Premium Vista Ready" long ago. They had enough time taking into account Vista was delayed so badly. As a developer I could say that making a sound card driver does not take a genius, it is not a rocket science. The only explanation which I could find is negligence. Looks like HP was going to get away with this. And they still may be thinking this way.
-
I have installed the Vista webcam drivers, but cannot get them going.
In Quickplay HP Webcam is listed, but the blue light doesn't come on and I cannot get an image.
Any help? -
I will tell you HP's services is starting to suck like all the big boys. I will never ever no not ever purchase another HP product.
-
Yes tell me about it, i called. First lady couldn't ****ing understand a thing, 30 minutes went buy and i asked to speak to a Supervisor or someone with English as primary language, said it was impossible to switch, so i called back. Must have been her brother, cause i couldn't understand a thing, asked to be transferred to his manager, and he hangs up on me.....
Even Dell has better speaking support.
Also the nerve of the 2nd guy, wanted to transfer me to the HP Webcam department that was a pay service, saying my version of Vista wasn't compatible and i had to get the Vista from HP....
Lame support. -
Fair warning... this will be a long post. Sorry I haven't been replying to this thread a lot lately. There just hasn't been a lot of great news to report.
The two biggest problems people have are the webcam (on just about every model notebook) and the Conexant "Waikiki" HD Audio codec (on dv2000t, v3000t, and I some 5000 and 8000 models), so I'll try to comment on those all at once.
On the webcam issues: if your webcam works occiasonally, only with certain programs, records or plays back at a wrong speed, etc, etc then welcome to the party. We all seem to have these same issues, and until a new driver comes out, we're all screwed. I haven't heard anything about a new driver, but I know HP is aware of the situation, so I can only assume/hope it is really being worked on.
For those needing a real driver for Conexant "Waikiki" HD Audio, the news is somewhat better. Anna from HP Total Care has agreed to pass a driver along to night_2004 a "beta" driver that will hopefully fix the issues many of us are facing with this codec. Hopefully, that driver will be available here this week. No word, unfortunately, if that driver will be for both Vista-32 and Vista-64, or even if it will be a truly new driver... or a more fixed up XP one. I suppose we'll all learn soon enough.
As for some specific issues:
As far as HP working on drivers, they really don't WRITE drivers. They get drivers in from their partners, alter the .infs and whatnot as necessary, and then spend forever (seems like 6-8 wees) testing compatibility before releasing them to us. At this point, many of the drivers are at best, beta drivers, and hopefully the OEMs have better drivers in the pipeline.
In all likelihood, it sounds like some systems need another BIOS update to correct this issue, but perhaps that tip will help some people.
There's basically two categories of systems in the market: those that were sold as "Windows Vista Capable" (and carry that logo) and those that weren't. If a system was not sold as "Windows Vista Capable" then manufacturer's have no obligation to provide Vista drivers for those systems AT ALL. Those systems that were sold as "Windows Vista Capable" need to have full Vista driver support provided by the manufacturer's within 90 days of the Vista consumer release (which was 1/30/2007). Obviously, we're coming up on the end of that 90 day window this month, so driver's should be released soon. If not, Microsoft will almost certainly take action, though I can't state what that action might be.
I got the same attitude when I spoke to a CSR about the dv2000t audio driver. He said they posted a driver. I said, yes they did, but it was for different hardware. He asked how I got Vista. I said I bought it in a store. He said that the problem was the retail copies of Vista, and that the driver they provided worked fine with HP's OEM copies of Vista. I explained that his response was nonsense, and that HP had changed the audio codec in the new dv2200t series, and that only hose machines could use the driver HP provided. He said I was wrong, and that since I didn't buy an OEM copy of Vista from HP, it wouldn't work, and that I wasn't eligible for the alleged "tech support" that he was providing. Absolutely priceless.
Also, they may tell you 8-10 business days, but with HP, that can become a month or more, and they may lose your notebook in the meantime.
Just... be warned.
Hope that all this helps someone. I know the answers at the moment aren't good ones, but hopefully some of these issues will be fixed soon. -
Thanks for summing up all the current issues JadedRaverLA. I, and I am sure many others, very much appreciate your many helpful posts. The possibility of updated nVidia drivers helping the fan issue is intriguing, I will have to give it a try.
-
Good post JadedRaverLA, you've put a lot of work into this.
On the web cam issue I've suffered the same problems as reported here. However my notebook did go back to HP who changed the web cam from the Ricoh to the Chicony version. The latter version is much better, most of my driver problems wher certainly related to the Ricoh web cam. Although not perfect the replacement Chicony web cam is much better (BTW the Chicony drivers installed totaly differently to those of the Ricoh). -
-
ratty -- Very interesting to learn. It makes me afraid that there's a real problem supporting the other webcam model in Vista, but definitely good to hear they were willing to replace it with a better model.
-
-
BTW. HP only took 48 hours to collect, fix and return the notebook.
-
hello jaded and all,
jaded-- i have the same spec notebook with you,
the last 3 weeks, i have tried to download drivers and updates for my notebook, but it is stuck because i couldn't download from HP web, to include in my place i could't download from ftp.
I have tried to dowload bios upgrade (F.23) from hp web, no success, and other drivers too.
I have try to download driver nvidia geforce go 7200, also from nvidia web, no success too, and my screen still flickering when booting to windows.
and other drivers updates.....no success
so, if there is any other link (or you could upload it) for drivers and updates for my notebook (windows vista home premium), i would be thankful.
my notebook spec (here called dv2213tx) :
core2duo T7200 2GHz
Nvidia geforce go 7200
160 giga hardisk
1 GB 667Mhz DDR2 system RAM

mypavilion -- I wouldn't mind uploading a "Driver pack" for dv2000t owners somewhere, but that might take me until tomorrow to have the time, and bandwidth to do it. What's the problem with the downloads from HP's ftp? Is the site down, or is there some kind of connection problem you are getting?
Also, for those who missed night_2004's announcement at the top of the forum, or Anna from HP's post, there is now a beta driver available for dv2000t and v3000t owners (possibly other models as well) who have the "Waikiki" audio codec! Go to the forum post at http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=109066&page=9 for directions, a link to download, and to post any issues with that driver so HP can see them. -
jaded--thankyou very much, i'll be waiting for it, so i could get better quality and performance for my notebook.
I don't know if the HP's site is down or not, but the problem is with my connection, i already ask administrator here and he explain that there is problem with the ftp (or maybe here are not allowed to), and most of my friend also couldn't download from ftp.
I have tried to download from *ww.mediafire.com, and it works fine
thankyou -
mypavilion (and anyone else looking for an all-in-one driver pack for dv2000t or v3000 machines) -- here you go.
First off, the links:
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
You'll need all three files (around 200 MB total), which, when extracted create a "HP Vista Driver" directory that includes,
HP Active Support Library 1.0m -- sp34016
HP Bluetooth 6.0C -- sp34275
HP Help and Support (x64) -- sp34413
HP Help and Support (x86) -- sp34411
HP Quicklaunch Buttons 6.10C -- sp34236
HP Ricoh Card Reader -- sp34373
HP Synaptics Touchpad Driver -- sp35444
HP Update -- sp34261
HP Venice HD Audio Driver 4.8 -- sp34387
HP Waikiki HD Audio Driver 3.25 XP -- sp33543
HP Waikiki HD Audio Driver 3.38 beta -- not yet publicly released
HP Webcam -- sp34746
HP Wireless Assistant -- sp34510
Intel 945GM Graphics -- sp34488 (x86) and sp34389 (x64)
Intel ProWireless 6.00D -- sp34804
Nvidia GeForce Go 7200 -- sp34390
Setup instructions:
I always extract the contents of the HP-provided sp#####.exe files to their own subdirectory. That is how this download will expand. For most drivers the setup.exe file is the file that launhes the installer. Their are a couple of exceptions, however:
1) HP Webcam driver -- is not a standard compressed archive, so the original so34746.exe file is used.
2) HP Ricoh Card Reader driver -- launch the DPInst.exe file from within either the x86 or x64 subdirecory to install.
HD Audio Note:
There are three HD audio drivers included. They are:
HP Venice HD audio driver 4.8 -- for the newest dv2200t series that shipped with Vista
HP Waikiki HD Audio Driver 3.25 XP -- "Workaround" XP driver for dv2000t and dv2100t series machines (32-bit Vista only)
HP Waikiki HD Audio Driver 3.38 beta -- latest beta driver for dv2000t and dv2100t series machines, provided by Anna from HP Total Care -- not a public release, and likely not officially supported by HP yet
Use whichever driver you prefer that works with your machine.
Nvidia driver note:
The Nvidia driver is an old one, but its the newest one provided by HP for this model. Installing it installs the Nvidia Control Panel which is useful, and then an updated driver can be grabbed from Windows Update. Alternatively you can use a modded Nvidia driver from www.laptopvideo2go.com, which are even newer and also contain the control panel. I recommend the 101.70 driver from there.
Quickplay:
Quickplay 3.0 is not included as I uploaded it seperately awhile ago. If you need it grab it here -
jaded, again..thank you very much,
i'll download it and will tell the result,
regards -
so here is my update as of far and my summary of HP support
THEY SUCK!
i was suppose to get a call back this tuesday from the case manager telling me an updated ETA and giving me other options. i received no calls, and called on tuesday, wednesday, thursday, and oh friday (today). everyday they "escalate my case" and tell me a case manager will call me back in 24-48 hrs. well today i really went off on the guy and told him they are pissing me off and i demanded a new laptop and told him the manager better call me back soon.
i am a college student and really need the laptop to get my school work done. i didnt spend $1400 to have my laptop missing for 4 weeks (as of now) and suppose to get back sometime in JUNE!
lets see what happens now > -
so after a frustrating day, i am happy now. i ended up calling Corporate HP and they got me in touch my case manager. he said he was sorry he didnt call me back because this week was very hectic and busy.
basically, he ordered me a new laptop and upgraded everything to the fullest. he upgraded my cpu from the 1.83 ghz core 2 duo to the 2ghz core 2 duo. he upgraded my HD from 120 to 160gb. also he upgraded the video card, and sent me 2 extra 12 cell batteries. also, he sent me a couple of headphones just cuz and a recovery cd (all of these things i didnt have orignally).
i should be getting it in 7-14 weeks (its being built in china just like my orignal one was). the upgrades were about $300 more than i paid, so i think the wait was well worth it now! -
s6arface -- not too bad in the end. I'd be happy enough with a new machine and some extra goodies.
It would just be nice if they you know... made some effort to communicate with customers. I don't get why that's so hard for them. It's ALWAYS a hectic week, and they almost never get back with anyone. You have to call and plead, and hope that you really do have a case manager, etc. -
s6arface: I had the exact same problem with HP, my dv5000t went missing for 6 weeks before they shipped me an upgraded dv6000t. Unfortunately, my dv5000t was already near top of the line, so I got an HDD upgrade and bluetooth and took a slight processor downgrade (Core duo 2.16Ghz to Core 2 Duo 2.0 Ghz).

-
I suspect he meant 7-14 days.

haha, yes i meant 7-14 days* good call broadus
