The guy I talked to said I can't get credit until I actually receive the laptop. However, he said he made a note in my account, and that I should just call when I receive the laptop to receive the credit.
I forgot to ask how much credit I'm getting though... at least $50, if not $80.
Oh, I forgot to mention -- I didn't get anything the first time I called. The woman said that because the coupon I used expired yesterday, I can't get any credit. I didn't know what she was talking about, so I called again, and had better luck. Still not as good luck as some of you, apparently! -
I guess it depends on the agent u talk to. Mine will only credit back the difference of the ram since I spent $50 to upgrade to the ram. I didn't spend the money to upgrade to the 500GB HD so she cannot credit me the money for that; she said she can credit me the ram and I can exchange the item for the same config but with the now standard 500GB HD. In a way that makes sense, they cannot give back money for what I didn't pay for, even though now the 500GB HD is the same price as the 320GB. After more discussion, she is willing to credit me a little more so I keep the machine and save both parties the trouble of the exchange/shipping, but she said her limitation is $75 in her power, unlike the 80 and 109 other users have received. By that time the process has taken almost 30 minutes with the explanation and reconfiguration/calculation and documentation and my time is more valuable than another $25 so I agreed to that. I am just happy that I received some money back for a hopefully good machine which I felt I paid a reasonable price for. I also hope HP would make some profit so the company will prosper and manufacture better items, and try to minimize the unnecessary cost of return/exchange, even though that's prolly factored in already thus raising the sale price. Overall I felt my agent was adamant but helpful and I would rate my call experience a good one. Besides, the $200 coupon no long works.

Did you get the credit immediately, or do you have to wait until you get your laptop? Or do you already have the laptop?

It's a request for credit according to my agent, which will be processed by HP in approximately 3 business days, so I will hopefully see it reflected soon. She did not say I hafta wait for the laptop to arrive. Mine is still somewhere in China or over the ocean I think. It really depends on the agent you talk to I think, just like any other customer service. But I didn't feel like calling back again as trial and error to receive <50 more dollars, and they also document each encounter so the next agent can be familiarized to better assist you. But you may feel differently so you can keep calling back until you get a satisfactory response. If I was HP I would say you are lucky with that price because the coupon isn't working now anymore (at least not when I tried).

My agent also said that the credit takes 2-3 business days to process, but I don't think it will even begin processing until I receive the laptop. I still need to call again then.
I definitely agree that it really depends on who you talk to. I can't believe how differently my two calls went.
Also, the coupon isn't working anymore because it expired yesterday. According to the first agent I talked to, it was valid June 2-14. -
So, anyway, since I'm clearly obsessed with tracking these packages... are we in agreement that all packages currently "in transit" from Anchorage are going to Memphis? Even though I live in Portland, Oregon, I don't see any direct flights from Anchorage to Portland -- so I assume everything is going to Memphis first. If that's true, we should be getting an update sometime around 10:00pm or 10:30pm PDT tonight.

3 flights to Memphis, 2x to Indianapolis, 1x to Newark and Oakland. The pallets tend to be split up into individual packages after clearing customs, so your flight may vary. It shouldn't make much of a difference, though, as if it has really left ANC you'll likely get it tomorrow as long as there aren't any major issues causing a box to get lost between flights or arrive too late.

Really? You think it'll get delivered in Portland tomorrow? I guess that could work, if it arrives in Memphis/Indianapolis/Oakland/Newark tonight, and then gets on an early-morning flight to Portland. I sure hope so!
By the way, how do you know all this stuff about FedEx's shipping methods? -
Most of their flights will depart between 2 and 4:00 in the morning to get on the delivery trucks at 7-8am.
I work in flight logistics and I have also received more than my fair share of crap from Asia via FedEx. -
MY Delivery Date got pushed back till next Tues from this Friday even though my package has been 'Picked Up'!

This is the risk you take ordering online. Would you rather pay 250+ more for a model with inferior specs or wait a couple days? You obviously have a computer or else you wouldn't be posting. The world today lacks patience. Crimeny cripes.

I ordered with 4GB memory, but with an SSD instead of a bigger HDD, and the current config is only $50 cheaper than my ordered system, pre-coupons. -
I didn't say anything, just said I would like to be credited, they calculated the new config, somehow included the coupon and i got the money back, an order form email was sent to confirm...I can't believe I got 109 back, I had no idea the coupon was expired, I would say that don't say you would send it back to get the new config, then they will realize coupons no longer work. Also it really does seem that dep on the agent u talk to, even though mine asked her manager about the credit and was approved...hope this helps!

I just said they offer 500gb as a free upgrade and I got 320gb while also telling them I paid $50 extra for 4GB and now it's a free upgrade. They put me on hold for awhile while they configured it to see if I should get anything back. I didn't explain much besides that and they gave me about $75 back on my credit card. I think they said it'll take about 2-3 days to process but I can't remember. They sent me a confirmation e-mail though so I'll be looking out for that. Hope it works for those of you that call. In the end mine came out to be about $750. That's a great deal for what looks to be a great laptop!

I wouldn't worry about that. When I got my dm4 the estimated delivery date on the FedEx tracking page was June 2nd and I got it on May 28th. My brother's dv6 had the same thing happen and I expect it to get here on Friday still. -
Sweet, after 10 minutes, I got a $70 refund! I had ordered the 320 hd and 4 gb ram. Wish I had 500 GB, but this works.

Well, it has been almost 18 hours, and no changes to my "in transit" status. I noticed something interesting -- on the website simpletracking.com, they show my package as being "held at sort facility" in Anchorage, rather than being "in transit". Maybe that's more accurate?
How about everyone else? What does your status say? -
Upon further investigation, it seems that there are no FedEx flights from Anchorage to Memphis/Indianapolis/Oakland today. How can that be? afooanna, care to shed some light?

i got $100 refund and a very pleasant experience, like nowhere else.
make sure u call this number and it will be easy and quick.
i olso wanted to note here when i ordered my hp dm4t had a $200 coupon and the $150 instant rebate included in my order which came up to $839.99 and now take off the $100 refund to i got this bad boy for $739.99 anyone that can find a better deal today on this kinda of laptop is lying

That is a heck of a deal. Mine came to around $700 total (after taxes and 25% BCB) and I only got 3GB of RAM and the 320GB hard drive, and I didn't get the extra battery or Intel wireless and bluetooth. You basically got all those upgrades for $40 more than I paid, which is amazing. That $740 doesn't include tax, though, right?

Yeah same here except I got the 6 cell (High Capacity) and the Intel Wireless card. How are you liking your laptop btw? Battery lasting a long time? Is the build quality good? Is the touchpad giving you issues?

FedEx doesn't upload or publish flightplans until about two hours before departure. There will be flights today. It is strange that they're just sitting there; I have never before seen this. It could be that there's a backlog with an abnormally high number of IP shipments, though. If that's the case, it'll probably arrive on the estimated date and no sooner unless they are able to clear everything down to normal levels.
As for that other website, seeing that stop in Tokyo is also a first for me. -
Mine says the same thing which as you know is rather disappointing. It's probably a good thing as I am in wine school and my virtual winery is due today and I think if my laptop arrived I wouldn't be very good about getting it finished in the way it should be!

is anybody returning their dm4?
i will be due to the craptastic speakers and finicky touchpad. everything else about the notebook i love, but it feels like i'd be settling for less when i can afford more.
i was able to double dip using bing cashback + discover card's 5% cashback, so in total, i was able to get my DM4 (with 5450, 4gb RAM, Intel WiFi) for about $720 after taxes. it hurts me to return it after such an amazing deal.
looks like i'll be getting the ENVY 14 which should have nicer speakers, but probably the same issues with the trackpad. -
Well, just got off phone with HP; to make long story short, extremely courteous and helpful sales agent lady (kudos to HP), but after checking back with supervisor couple of times, the most they would credit me was $50, after acknowledging that current pricing, pre coupons, would be $100 less (for the 4Gb/500Gb mix that I got). She said she tried to get me the full $100 credit, but because my order was with a $200 coupon that is no longer valid, the would try to meet me half way. I told her I had to problem with that and thanked her; I suppose I could have argued for higher credits that others may have gotten, but it seems to me that they have an entirely valid point since if I tried to cancel the order and replicate the order today, my net price would be substantially higher. So it could be that they are beginning to tighten the reins on these credits. Bottom line: I still give HP response high marks.
